CVS bad customer service

I went into the store today at 8am to get a medicine for my sick son (ofcourse with a prescription). I handed over the request and was told it would take 15 min. I was sitting in front of the pharmacy area and I observed that it exactly took 1 min for them to work on validating my insurance and 1 min to get the medicine. and finally got my medicine exactly after 28 min after my request. You may wonder what took so long. the 2 pharmacists along with another store manager were chatting about another co-worker - about her inability to do work and show up to work etc. They did not have a decency to notice that I was sitting in front of them with a sick child waiting to get the medicines. I did not utter a word as I wanted to just get home to give medicines to my son. But this kind of service is VERY VERY BAD. SORRY CVS. YOU might exist in this world for ever, but you will loose me as your customer and will loose others who are reading this.

JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYBODY UNDERSTAND. I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE STORE THIS MORNING. THE STORE OPENED AT 8AM. I WAS THERE AT 8.01AM. THEY WERE DEFINITELY NO ONE ELSE IN THE ENTIRE STORE.

The CVS in Chester Springs has lost prescriptions, mixed up prescriptions, interrupted customers they were waiting on to gossip with other pharmacists. They have competition within 3 miles of their location, so I quit going there. Their pharmacy employees are the WORST.

The average CVS pharmacy is lucky to have a backlog of new prescriptions as small as 3 to 5 pages upon opening due to e-prescriptions and faxes. Odds are if they were discussing the ineptitude of another employee at 8:01 AM, it's because they operate on bare bones schedules thanks to CVS being a horribly run corporation and the employee in question probably called out leaving the entire crew screwed for half the morning. (Way to mind your own business by the way.)

I'm sure you believe wholeheartedly that you are the only customer there they should be concerned with and that your child is the only sick child in town that day, however, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you...

callbala, your post is dumb. You are dumb if you think they were only working on your son's prescription, and it is sure NONE of your business to eavesdrop on what they were talking about. I'm sure they won't miss you at CVS

Though they said 15 minutes at first, the pharmacist might have been busy filling other prescriptions that came in before you. They are also allowed to talk to each other while working. You sound very impatient counting the minutes it took them to do each process. 28 minutes is not long at all for a walk in. Hope you son is feeling better.

CVS false advertisement

They have tags in the store stating that you get $5 off when you spend $15 on comestics and body wash and I purchase more than $15 when I approved the manager to ask to help and fix the issue because id dint get the $5 off. He said there was nothig that he can do about it, and if I want I can return my purchases. False advertisement and bad customer service.

CVS rude pharmacy tech

I went to the CVS Pharmacyin Texas City to purchase some BD Ultra Fine Pen Needles for my Prescribed Byetta pen and was told by the pharmacy Tech that a prescription is required to purchase them. Having been a type II diabetic taking Byette injections for quite some time, I have purchased them at many pharmacies and I told the pharmacy tech that a prescrition is not required for their purchase. She became very argumentaqtive and rude. I requested that she ask the pharmacist and she refused to do so. She kept insisting that the law required a prescription. I finally spoke with the pharmacist and he stated no prescription was required. I told him about the rude pharmacy tech and he just made excuses for her. I was under the impression that a person had to go to school to become a pharmacy tech. If so she must not have graduated. The pharmacist excused her rudeness by stated it has been a rough day because they have several employees out. At my place of employment, where I manage a fairly large group that deals with the public, the employees provide good customer service regardless of the type of day they are having. They are also trained and expected to know their jobs.

My Drs office has been trying to call the cvs in FL for my meds since the 18th it is now the 26th and they keep hanging up on them. When I call and very politely try to explain I was told very rudely they answer all there calls that was it another night no meds my Drs office called back to say they will try again. I do understand how busy they are and have seen how rude customers can be. But people need to remember customer service and that people's lives sometimes depend on these meds I always try to be calm, compassionate, as I work with the public as well. Can't we all just try and work with eachother were all overtired and my meds are for sleep I don't get.

You are very right! I am a nurse and if someone questions me because there are different ways in my job things can be done you better believe I'm going to ask someone else or look it up and find out for sure. If someone asks me a question and I'm not sure of the answer I always say I'm not exactly sure or I don't know but I WILL FIND OUT RIGHT NOW. I am in my late 30's but some of the younger people I say mid to late 20s I have noticed lack manners/people skills and think they are always right. I blame it on technology because they didn't have to actually do things face to face with other people. They communicate with others through texts or emails. You do not mess with a persons medications or medical supplies that's like messing with a loaded gun in my opinion. Not defending the pharm tech because she should have asked the pharmacist but to my knowledge time insurances require a prescription Before they will pay for those supplies but anyone can purchase them. Yes she should know her job and should have found out if she didn't. And you should NEVER be rude and disrespectful because your have a bad day because its nod it weren't for those customers you wouldn't have a job period!

I dropped off a rx... The lady at the drive thru window... Told me it would be ready at 5:00. I dropped it off at 3:00, they had 3 hrs. To fill it... Called back to see if it was ready... Give them 15 more min.. Called back in 15 min... Still wasn't ready... Said they would have it ready in 5 more... No I don't think so... Talked with store manager said she would handle it... I told her that is why I changed to walgreens to begin with.. My insurance has a deal with cvs or I would change again... I am just going to go to another cvs

If you are running out of medication, then you need to make sure your script amount matches your doctors orders. If the scrip states one per day and your doctor said take two per day, then don't blame us. We can only give you the number of pills the script states. Your doctor needs to specify more pills.

CVS rude pharmacist

I am a Long time customer at the CVS in collegeville PA (store 2688). I have been getting my prescriptions filled here for a long time. The other day I went in and I needed to speak to a pharmacist. I asks a worker to get the pharmacist because I had a guess. The worker was very nice. When she told the pharmacist, the pharmacist yells "for God's sake, " as if she were annoyed with me. This upset me very much. I believe her name is Martha. This is no way to act, especially if you are the person in charge.
Also I witnessed her slapping a workers hands which made me even more mad. Yes, the girl was using her phone but there is no reason to put your hands on an employee. You could tell the young girl was a little startled and upset about it.
Overall I've never had a problem with this pharmacy until she came along. I think I will start having my prescriptions filled at the Trappe or Limerick store now.

CVS dread going to get my rx

I used to go to Rite-aid but rencently switched to CVS only because i moved and CVS is alot closer to my new home. I wish i never switched! My 4 yr old son has alot of health problems (he has state issued health insurance this has nver been a problem anywhere else) lucky that none of them are life threating. I say this because everytime i go there is always a problem getting his RX filled. He takes 4 rx everyday i understand once or twice having problems but not every time. He has to have a new rx every month for 2 of his meds cause they are a controlled substance. He also takes a med that i use the auto refill for (you know the over the phone deal?) well everytime i get there it's not ready! Isn't that the purpose of taking the few extra mins of doing that so you don't have to take the extra 30 min to 1 hour to get your rx? No that's not the only problem i have i wish it was! Then i wouldn't be complaining. they also say that his medicade will not allow for his refill on his 2 rx they always say one of two things etheir it's not time (to early) or medicade won't approve it for some unknown reason? So after a few months of this repeadantly i contacted medicade to find out why every month i could not get his ($550.00) med filled. They proceeded to tell me they didn't know why i was unable to get his meds filled everything was fine on there end. Well i contacted the CVS to tell them what medicade had told me then they told me i needed a pa (piror athorization form). He usally needs one every year. Well i got that for them & low & behold guess what still no rx! Their excuse this time was it was to early to get his med. So I contacted medicade agian to find out why they were saying it was to early to pick up & once agian they didn't know what i was talking about. They told me what i already knew that his meds could have picked up a week ago DUH! I explained to them where & what was going on she informed me that i was not the only person to have this problem with CVS. I contacted CVS agian & informed them with the news that i could have gotten it filled a week ago. The lady told me i had to wiat on the head man to get there tommorrow between 9am & 4pm. Well i called about 2pm the very next day & he filled no questions asked. Finally almost 2 weeks later. The only thing they done that was even remotely helpful was they would give me a few pills from the rx to get him through it wasn't enough to do it but it was enough to keep him from being so sick. We would't had to worry about it if they had done their job & filled his meds. I tried to transfer back to Rite Aid during this problem CVS wouldn't let me because if you have an open script you can't! WTF? If your not happy no matter what you should be able to. Another thing i have to get a pa form from my doc every month (priror athorization form) when i was at Rite-Aid i only needed one pa a year. So can someone tell me why at one pharmacy i need one a year & at another i need 12 a year!? Im so glad to be back with Rite Aid it's not even funny. Also Wal greens is great they don't give you the run around. I wish you could sue someone for inconviencing your time but u can't i'm just glad that he wasn't hurt by not having his rx like he needed it he was just uncomfotable.

CVS wrong dose of meds

My dog Murphy takes a controlled substance (meds) for her seizures. Her dose is 32.4 mg pills and of this she takes one and a half pills twice daily. I dropped off NEW script as hers expired and when I picked up meds I realized I had 64.8 mg and directions said to give half pill twice a day. I went back and asked to see script and he hands me an OLD script of when she only took ONE 32.4 mg pill twice a day. Turns out the Pharmactist thought he was doing me a favor and giving me an UPPER dose pill and just cutting it in half. HAD I not read the mg I would have OVER DOSED my dog giving her 1 and a half pills of 64.8 mg twice a day! Had I gone by his directions and taken that HIGER dose pill and only giving her half twice a day she would have been UNDER dosed and therefore at a HIGH risk of seizures! She takes 2 diff meds that work together in their specific dosages to control her SEVERE seizure disorder. I got NO apology and was even told "it's no big deal, we can fix it"...I asked why the new script was not looked at. I was told that b/c her old script had NOT aged over a yr that it just popped up in computer and they went by OLD script. Very scary people. I was then told all pharmacies have this practice. I said really sir, they ask and demand a new script only to NOT look at it, not even compare it? I said this is a controlled substance and I would hope in the future you pay attn to your scripts sir, not just what pops up on your computer screen, it could save the life of an elderly person, child and or in my case my dog. I talked to the manager who made me wait when she was called b/c the Pharmacist was too busy giving his side of the story. Absolutely no excuse for this, abosolutely no one willing to take the responsibility and was even told by both the Pharmacist and manager "the person who filled it isn't even here", as if that was supposed to somehow ease the fact they totally and completely failed to do their jobs! I took my script to Walgreens where they said they never take it for granted that a script is the same, the dose is the same and always fill it according to new script! OUTRAGIOUS!

Its not a pet med, my dog takes an actual seizure med that you or I would take if we had seizures. If I gave my dog half a pill of the higher dose twice a day its under dosing her! She take ONE 32.4 mg pill PLUS a half of 32.4 mg a day! These are lil pill and do not cut up easily. They should have just read the script and filled it with 32.4 mg pills...one and half to be given twice a day.

CVS scamming prescriptions

We canceled our auto-renewal on prescription drugs to protect against credit card fraud. Two months after canceling this service with cvs-caremark, we were called three times attempting to sell us one of the drugs we have not bought in the past 60-90 days that was automatically delivered via mail and under their "auto renew" program. They would have just ignored our cancelation and sent the prescription, but lucky us, we had fraud on our credit card and had the card number changed. We had to tell them 3 times to quit calling us. Their cya is to send out a letter stating we canceled our prescription. We never seem to have these problems with independent pharmacies. Lesson learned.

CVS rude, arrogant, nasty employees

I will never use CVS pharmacy located in Sherman Oaks again! The employees are rude, unprofessional and believe that they have the power to decide whether or not a prescription is to be filled. Even with the prescription from the prescribing doctor and the approval from the insurance company, one arrogant young pharmacist decided that she was not going to fill a prescription. How dare any pharmacist ever intrude upon the doctor patient relationship and think that they can decide to not give the customer his medication. While trying to explain to the pharmacists the details that she should be aware of regarding the medication, instead, she ignores me, interrupts me, she laughs, speaks in her native language to another pharmacist and completely disregards me. This episde took place once I asked if the medication were ready after waiting an hour and a half, and she non-chalantly waved her hand at me and said "another 10 minutes". It was 20 minutes after that interaction that she told me she was not going to fill my prescriptions. The eliticist superior attitude of this particular pharmacist is revolting and disgusting, If CVS is interested in keeping their custormers, they better take a good long hard look at their pharmacy staff and get rid of many of them ASAP. We are the customers, they should do their job professionally and respectfully. The consistent inability to treat any of their customers as equal human beings should be a huge red flag to the future busines of CVS.

You are apparently ignorant. I feel that if you would like to speak about a situation you should educate yourself before you speak because you sound like an absolute idiot. Pharmacist have EVERY RIGHT to not fill a medication! They are Doctors of Pharmacy that get their doctoral degree in the pharmacology, treatments, and medicine. If you think all a pharmacist does is count pills and make 130K a year, then you must be an idiot. If a pharmacist for one second feels the medication is unsafe to dispense to the patient they are OBLIGATED to not fill the medication.
Please educate yourself before you speak, thanks.

You people that have commented after are absolutely out of your mind, not to mention rude. You have no idea whether this guy is a ' drug seeker. ' or 'junkie' yet you jump on your high horse so quickly to put him down for being refused THEIR medication. I agree, this should be at the doctors discretion, but I also believe if for whatever reason a pharmacist deems the prescription false. Or wrongly. Prescribed, that under those circumstances they should be able to 'red flag' the prescription, and perhaps call the prescriber to get a detailed look at their personal situation. Under no circumstances, other than false prescriptions do I beliee a pharmacist should have the authority within 20 seconds of neetig you decide wether or not you should be allowed your prescription. The end. That is plainly profiling and discrimination. Get off your high horses and go get a real career other than countig pills if you think you should have the autority over doctor patient relationships.

The pharmacist and techs have every right to refuse to fill your prescription for any reason. If for any reason the prescription turns out to be fake or otherwise illegal, then the blame goes completely on the pharmacy staff and fines or harsher legal action can ensue. So if anything at all on your prescription or in the way you behave raises any red flags, it's liable to happen.

You're probably just another drug seeking junkie who's had their bloated sense of entitlement shattered by being told "no" for the first time since you were in diapers.

"How dare any pharmacist ever intrude upon the doctor patient relationship and think that they can decide to not give the customer his medication."

In every pharmacy it states pharmacist have the right to not fill your RX for religious, moral, or ethic reason. However the pharmacist must also aid you in finding a pharmacy that will fill it. Pharmacist have EVERY right to intrude upon doctor patient relationship. If the pharmacist feels your doctor is wrongly prescribing your prescription and it could be lethal you would rather the pharmacist say what the hell lets fill it anyway? Please...

Pharmacist line of field is medicine, they make it their life. I've seen countless doctors prescribe the wrong dose or even lethal dose of a medication for a patient. If you prescription was a C2, they could have denied it based off they feel the doctor is writing to many controlled and right a report to the DEA.

Since you failed to give us any reason for the refusal to fill, I'm going to assume it's because it was a reasonable reason not to fill your medication.

CVS discrimination & personal attack

The store manager mistreats most all the Spanish speaking costumers that walk into his store especially if they don't speak English. I don't know his last name but his first name is Chuck & what is most intriguing is he is back by the District manager his name is Tim. He follows them all over the store acting if they only go there to steal at times with no probable cause he has search there personal belongings. I am writing this here to you today not because I experience my self but because my wife is an employee at this store & has experience first hand discrimination towards her.Starting with the district manager Tim and going down to the store manager Chuck. They tell how great an employee she is but when she call sick they don't pay her for her time off even after they make her run around getting doctors note & other proves. Even human resource agree that for such a responsible employee like her self she should have not been giving such a hard time. When other employee don't even call in sick & they get paid for sick time including employees that have not even been employ for three months. That might not be discrimination but it is certainly a personal attack on her. Because she has been complaining on how she is being treated since she move here from their Miami stores.I am hoping that some one could come & investigate because I am having a hard time coping with her coming home crying all the time because of all their mistreatment towards her. And make no mistake about this Chuck does discriminate against all the none English speaking costumers that go into that store especially if they are Mexicans. She does not know that I am writing to right now but I could guaranty you that if come and speak to her she will not be afraid to tell you her self. If you do decide to send some one to speak to her, her name is Ivania Morales . Thank you so much for you time sincerely your Jorge Morales

I worked for CVS for over a year, and it was the worst experience of my life ! I believe every word you wrote. When CVS took over our store, after they purchased Longs Drugs, morale went down the toilet. No one was happy, they pressure you, cut your hours, push you to do more work faster, I was treated very, very rudely if I called in sick, they did not want us to, we had to be there, because they cut back the staff so much. Leaving that company was the best thing I did, it was the worst company to work for. I hope your wife can find another job, you are a good husband to care about her, believe me working for CVS is horrible. I will not shop there any more.

There have been several times with one prescription that requires my doctor's authorization that they have said they faxed it into the doctor. I never received a call from CVS Pharmacy letting me know that the doctor did not send the authorization back so I assumed he did not want me on the prescription. I requested this refill in December of 2010 so in...

CVS not following instructions for prescription

I use Cvs pharmacy because that is the only pharmacy my insurance covers. I have been on a new medication for over 1 year now. I also have a card from UCB Parma that gives me $30 off of each refill. Everytime I refill the parmacy has to call UCB to confirm that I have insurance and not on medicare or medicade to receive the discount. Every single time they do not call. Despite telling the pharmacist and techs when I drop off the script, when I come to pick it up..they have not called and try to over ride it in their computer..which I have told them they cannot. They have to call. Once again today went to pick up (my 10th refill) same thing. I told them they had to call..and once again..3 techs and the pharmacist tried to over ride it with no success..finally they called and got the code to get the discount...an hour later I left.

I am sooo tired of this happening ever time! Tried to call the corporate office..of course they are closed..I said if I could go elsewhere I would..but I'm stuck with CVS.

I am pissed off Sandi!

See what I mean? Attitude, attitude, attitude! You simply proved my point. YOU have a job to do. I realize I am nothing to YOU, YOU have made that clear. However, just remember without customers YOU would be out of work! I can get my prescriptions filled at any pharmacy and because of YOU I do not choose CVS. So, who wins? Huh? Huh? Get a factory job where you don't have to deal with the likes of me. OH, that's right. We don't have factories in the U.S. anymore.

This seems to be a common complaint regarding CVS. Their pharmacy technicians simply do not listen. They operate like robots and do not go to any additional trouble to make sure their customers are happy. It definitely seems to be "just a job" and not necessarily a service they are performing. In all fairness I will say that attitude seems to be prevalent in the work place theswe days. CVS pharmacy technicians and associates do seem to be a little more "ho-hum" about their customers, though. I have had several experiences with CVS where they simply did not follow through with my prescription issues. Their employees need serious customer service training.

CVS cleanliness

I recently moved to PA. and thought I would transfer scripts from Rite Aid

to you as you are more convenient. I went into your store and the trash was spewing out of the can in front of the store. I asked the manager to clean and he said sure. 3 hrs. later not done. In store today and filthy. I will not do business with such indifference. I suggest you send in your DM on a surprise visit. Or is it him TOO? I have been retail for years and if my store were to ever look that way I would expect to be fired. Your DM and manager are the only front line to the consumer. I just thought does the company even care?

Wow. I am doing a science fair project on the cleanliness of CVS, Walmart, and Publix shopping carts and restrooms. I am very surprised at this CVS act. Even though I am not trying to study the trash can cleanliness, I am still using your ideas about the trash. Being a fired CVS manager, you probably know a lot about the way things occurred in your CVS. Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about how often the shopping carts were cleaned and how often the restrooms were cleaned? I am in need of some information. You would be a big help.

CVS corporate kind of cares...at least they used to care. A few years back they had consumers wear special glasses where it tracked where the consumer was looking while they entered the store, shopped the store and then checked out. 90% of all women looked at the front trash. Managers were directed to move the trash as far away from the entrance as possible. Managers were also required to empty the trash 3X per day. We all did this and agreed that an overflowing trash barell is gross. In the managers defense, CVS is cheap and send us the thinnest bags on the planet, and when you have 3 employees stuck with needles in 2 years you can understand why no one wants to empty the trash.

The real reason is that CVS has cut staffing hours by 40% over the last 18 months. Managers are threatened with their jobs daily. Managers are told they need to keep their employees happy (CVS wants to be in the top 100 places to work) . So when an employee refuses to do a task or they have bad customer service skills managers need to get DM approval before documenting a conversation. Field managers have been trained to say bad employees have bad managers...so if you try to write someone up, your DM is going to say "what did you do to cause the situation?" Bottom line - CVS just wants to be on lists, they don't care about the customer, they don't care about the employees...its all about being profitable to their shareholders.

(Shareholders requested a major reduction in inventory and payroll, you'll notice the stores are light in staff and product - looks like they wanted to make the shareholders happy!)

CVS solicitation phone calls to registered customers

Now CVS is calling individuals soliciting them to call the store or go to the store relating to allergy season. The call is during the day and interrupts business or personal time, may be on a personal cell phone, and requires the customer to call a special national number to opt out of the calls. This is in poor judgement and pure greed and I'm sure angers enough people to be bad business practice. I am instructing my family to avoid CVS business.

CVS has been calling me for months. Most of the time I recognize the number and send to to VM but the few times I've answered I've firmly insisted that they STOP tele-marketing me. The lady said "I am not tele-marketing, I am calling with updates on allergy season blah blah blah" To which I reply: "CVS would like to sell or make me aware of (marketing) a product for allergy season over the phone ... that is THE definition of telemarketing ma'am" She was rather rude and said I would be taken off the call list ... that is until I was called again 2 days later and again today. In my opinion this is a violation of HIPPA, CVS as my pharmacy has taken my patient information and using it for marketing purposes other than what the information was intended for. I am going to push this to an attorney and have then look into the HIPPA regulations for patient privacy.

CVS "professional" screw-ups

In attempts to build a portfolio, my friend volunteered to take some photos of me to give my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. She sent them to me via email and I immediately sent them to be processed at CVS to be sure I would have them in time.

I sent them to a CVS near my apartment and went in to pick them up the next morning only to find out their machine was down and they had not printed them. I was never given any courtesy call to notify me they were not completing my order. In fact, quite the opposite. I received a message via e-mail saying my order was complete and ready for pick up!

Aggravated and pressed for time, I went home and had them sent to another CVS near my office. I called ahead and made sure their machine was in order this time and again received a confirmation email when my order was "ready" for pick up.

When I arrived to the CVS to pay for my photos I was told they could not give them to me as it was clear they were professionally done. I was told I would need a signed consent form from the photographer, who lives in Virginia. I am in Pennsylvania.

I explained to the manager I had not paid for the photos to be taken, there was no watermark on them to indicate they were copyrighted and even went as far as to get my friend who had taken them on the phone to approve the purchase. Still, they would not allow it. They were also very rude and continued to check out other customers at the register the entire time they were refusing me service, instead of attempting to talk to me personally, forcing me to interfere with others.

I asked if they had a consent form online to print and have signed, as Shutterfly and many other photo printers do. They said "no", and it was the photographers responsibility to write one.

I left the store infuriated, went back to my office, printed out Shutterfly's consent form, forged my friend's signature (with her permission) and went back to the store. When I presented the form, they barely looked at it. It could have said ANYTHING!

It appears CVS photo has clerks processing their prints 90% of the time, so who are they to judge what is professionally done? Just because some general manager, who probably thinks a Cannon, Rebel is a type of firearm, thinks a photo is too good to be taken on an afternoon in my friend's apartment, means I have to guess whether or not I need to print a written letter of consent?

Not to mention when I finally did have the photos in hand, they cut the bottom off of two of them.

Never again.

The point of this rant was convenience, not quality. I am addressing their customer service and explaining it might be a good idea for them to have a consent form for customers to use, if they plan to enforce such a rule, and perhaps better practice when it comes to informing people there is a problem with their order.

Of course I would have used someone else if "importance" was a factor. I had given myself plenty of time to have them processed if all had gone accordingly.
