Refused service
14/04/18
I went to the store to purchase a gift voucher for a birthday present. As i arrived to the door the security guard asked to see my ID which I provided and was sent through. My friends were there and due to being underage they weren't allowed through. However, they exited the building and were asked by the security guard to stand with him inside due to the rain. As i made my way to the counter a mature woman with short hair asked to see my ID, which i provided to her (drivers licence). Due to my friends being with the security guard at the front of the store she refused to service as they were underage and they weren't even with me at the time. I am 18 years old and provided a clear photo ID with my date of birth (07/03/2000). Although I displayed this I was refused service and therefore was asked to leave the store.
It isn't any difference if my parents took my younger brother into the store. Was very poor customer experience as i am legal and wasn't even trying to purchase alcohol in the first place, I was there to purchase a gift voucher.
Bag security
Hello,
I entered the Southport store Friday 08/06/2018, through the metal swinging gate, INTO the store. I was wearing a backpack. Security stopped me and told me to put my backpack on the pile of boxes over on the wall. These boxes were on the OUTSIDE OF THE STORE. This is where customers have free access to spare boxes if they need them. So why would I leave my bag unattended for anybody to take?!
I was more bewildered than anything. When I asked a second time, security told me again and I wasn't convinced, so he said to just leave it next to him. This upset me as I had to take my purse and mobile out and carry it. I muttered that it was inconvenient. I took a few steps into the store but almost left. I enjoy going into Dan's and just switching off and enjoying the shopping experience. I just felt uneasy and untrusted because I had a backpack.
If you want people to leave their bags unattended you need a designated area. Or just have security check bags on the way out like many other stores. If a matter had to be attended to, who would be minding those bags? I ride a scooter so I need my backpack for extra storage space. I would be very hesitant to go back to Dan Murphy's again incase this same thing happens because I would walk out and go somewhere else.
Very bad service
Sent my son and daughter to purchase some alcohol at the welland dan murphy on the weekend.
My son is 18, the store manager refused to serve my son due to having his 16 year old sister with him... Its government policy you cant service someone with a minor this is what the store manager told my son. So I went to the store and spoke to gabe the store manager what a muppet he couldn't show me any policy's. There is no policy's around the store so he picks and choices who he seems fit to buy alcohol... If your going to implement these policy's have them in writing or displayed around the store dan murphy's you should be ashamed! So you don't serve people that come in with there kids... Please explain
An impolite staff whose name is michael tortely
Today (6 June 2018) I visited the Dan Murphy's store at Belconnen about 6pm. I have been visiting this store for years. Unexpectedly, I had a very awful shopping experience this time. I wanted to ask a staff whose name is Michael Tortely for help, before listening to my questions first, he asked me to show my I.D. very impolitely. I was confused because the 'help' could be anything not necessarily related to alcohol. I shown my I.D., but unfortunately, my partner left her I.D. on our car. Hence, he forced us to leave immediately. We were happy to leave because we knew the rules, even if his attitude was very offensive.
My partner was already outside the store while I was returning the shopping basket. However, during this short period, Michael stared at my partner (a young lady) from face to toe which actually scared my partner and he also pointed at her and mumbling... Therefore, I came to argue with him politely, but his attitude was really aggressive. I wanted to talk to the store manager and Michael claimed that he was the manager (hopefully this is real?), then when I asked him for apologise to the lady, he went away directly.
What even confused us was, that he kept looking at us offensively even if we were already outside the store. There were many other customers in the store, but we were the only foreign customers at that time. He paid all his attentions on us and never checked any other persons for the I.D..We think these unfriendly attitude and racist behaviour are really disrespectful and not professional. Dan Murphy's should train their staff better.
Order issue
I ordered over $400 worth of drink on line with dans murphy or I called dumb murphy. They cancel my order without any reasons. They never let me know why? Until two weeks later I called and they told me they cancel it. I asked why? Lady on phone had no answer. I did send them a few emails about that order they never respond.
Never ever buy any from them again. They show no care or respect what so ever.
Magazine
Hi there,
My name is Janet Murphy and I live in Cairns. I recently received your free May magazine or buyer's guide. It came wrapped in plastic.
Cairns has no recycle facility to absorb soft plastic so your wrappers now stand to be buried in landfill or end up in the water (magazines discarded unwrapped on to street from letter boxes plastic getting ripped off and blowing around easily ending up in tidal creeks or canals and mistaken by wildlife for food between here and on the reef).
Long story short could you please refrain from wrapping your magazines/ guides in plastic. We receive paper brochures in Cairns at least once a week. Wrapping the guide makes no difference as to whether it gets opened or not. People either read brochures or not. Saving it from rain doesn't mean it gets read. I live in block with five flats. Two tenants read brochures, the rest I have to bin to avoid clutter.
The world is making a move to divest itself of the overuse of plastics especially if its use is unnesessary or avoidable. The whole town is now undergoing the change from shopping bags to using their own, a push to get the big supermarkets to stop using plastic wrap and polystyrene trays, getting rid of plastic straws and disposable? but not biodegradable takeaway food holders and utensils including coffee cups and lids.
We only have one planet and we only have one huge body of water with the land masses in situ. Amidst the rest of the pressures the creatures that inhabit our seas and oceans have to contend with is the volume of plastic in all forms of decomposition to tiny micro and macro sizes. The enormity of this phenomena is unprecedented and already whales and turtles are showing up dead on our shores full of actual garbage or choked to death by bags mistaken as food or strangled by beer can holders for example, or worse still where the micro plastic is being absorbed into the creatures' systems and causing tumors.
Why not become as classy as the intended plastic wrapped magazine you offer to the public. People genuinely admire companies that are not lazy and who make the first move to embrace innovative technologies. Why not be one of the first to divest yourselves of this unnecessary plastic. Plant based bags that are completely biodegradeable are already available to retailers and consumers and I am sure that there is something suitable to use in exchange for the plastic wrapper for you, if you looked hard enough,
Thanks for your time
Janet Murphy

Customer service
Me and a family member of mine have been a customer of Dan Murphy's for many years
Today on the 28/4/2018 I had gone in to the Torrensville store in SA Adelaide south Australia to purchase a slab of beer and the customer service attendant had asked for my Photo I.D I'm 29 years old and turning 30 in October I am Highly Offended by this situation and considering my legal options by talking to a lawyer
I had asked her why She asking for I.D and she said I look under 18 years old Considering The Age gap between 18 and my actual age of 29 turning 30 in October of this year I believe this customer service attendant was being Dishonest towards me and was clearly trying to disrupt my day
I ask that my complaint is looked into and not swept under the rug as I am considering going elsewhere for my alcohol needs

2016 Tomich Hill Barossa Valley Shiraz
The most disturbing thing about my purchase of this wine is that I ordered it for $99 from an email offered Secret Selection offer; when in fact it could have been bought for $97.20 for my local Dan's store. Moreover according to the email offer it was rated "94 Points from Sam Kim, 90 Points from Patrick Eckel, 93 Points from Wine Showcase and 92 Points from Huon Hooke" My online research does not verify these ratings at all (not does the Dam Murphy web-page for Tomich Hill Shiraz. In fact there are no expert reviews shown). Dan Murphy's ARE YOU SELLING HONESTLY AND HONOURABLY when making email offers?
Review on product & services requested by dan murphys
I received a request for feedback on a product and services purchased from Dan Murphy's on line service, I responded to their request and told them my opinion of both the product & the service. (Copy of my feedback attached).
The next day I got a reply back declining my review. (Copy attached of the declining of my review).
I am quite offended by the procedure that was used by the Dan Murphy's team in declining my review, you ask for an honest opinion on your product and services you get an honest opinion and if it does not suit even though the truth that is a total bias in favor of comments that only suit your glory not necessarily the truth of the matter.
Looking forward to your unbiased response in this matter.
Yours sincerely, William Childs 30 Rio Vista Blvd Broadbeach Waters Qld 4218

Being refused to purchase alcohol and i’m 43
This morning I wanted to purchase a six pack of midori at dan murphy's pasadena. I had just done my shopping at foodland pasadena and my arms were full. My daughter placed the six pack on the counter for me and she was asked to produce id. I said to the cashier i'm purchasing this not her. She said sorry but she's put it in the counter I can't allow you so I said ok i'll grab another and put it on the counter and so I did. When I got back to the counter she said no sorry I can't serve you because originally your daughter put it on the counter. I said i'm 43 and your refusing me to buy alcohol! After leaving the store I phoned the main dan murphy's line and they redirected me to store. It happened to be that it was the manager that had served me her name was jen and I expressed my frustration to her. Jen said it was secondary purchasing. I think this is ridiculous if it had been a 5 yr old kid placing something on the counter it would of been ok but because my daughter is 15 it was an issue.
Hi there, I know this happened 7 years apart.
But I just had a similar experience with what you had.
My daughter was asked by her dad to buy some Asahi; so she went in to buy but she did not bring her actual driver licence with her. So she showed them her digital driver licence. The register boy rejected her to buy saying he needed to sight her actual licence.
So fine, I had to come in.
I went to the register and told the boy, I am the mother of the girl who did not have the actual driver’s licence with her.
Come to my surprise, the register boy also rejected me! Saying that I helped my daughter lied about her age?! My daughter did not lie as she really is 23 yo.
And I am 48 yo. Yet they refused to serve us!
So I was being punished for telling them the truth, really!
I could just come in and grab the pack of beer, they won’t recognise me!
So my mistake was to tell them I was the mother! For that I was labelled as criminals by the store manager, the register boy and all the staffs there.
I won’t buy anything fron Dan Murphy’s ever again.
Gladesville dan murphy’s customer service
My partner and I were in Dan Murphy's purchasing a bottle of wine and a case of mid strength beer. When we proceeded to the checkout we were not greeted; instead received an arrogant "do you two have ID". As I proceeded to present my ID, my partner then realised he had forgotten his wallet (genius). However when you look about 30 and have a full sleeve of tattoos, having your ID at the ready isn't your first instinct.
Instead of sympathising with us in the matter or providing us with a simple sorry and stating the policy we received a patronising and sassy response something along the lines of "uh sorry can't serve you".
When we asked the young brunette woman if she believed my partner looked under 18, in which his full sleeve, 6ft tall height, wrinkles and receding hairline would suggest otherwise, we received yet another rude and sassy response which was something of which a ten year old could sting together, "uhhhhh we are Dan Murphys's"... yes lady we can read, we realised that when we entered the store.
Evidently, our experience within the Store at Gladesville was extremely unpleasant and frustrating. Rather than be a patronising, sassy and rude it would have been nice to hear a simple "sorry" and an explanation as to your company's policies as why you were unable to serve us.
Rather than go home quickly and get my partners wallet we choose to take or business else where.
Extremely unhappy with the horrible disservice we revived today.

Hi, I purchased a bottle of the above wine last week. We opened it and drank some of it last night, however when my husband opened the bottle he thought it was strange there were bubbles in the wine at the opening of the bottle however the cap was sealed. During the evening we were both very ill and can only put it down to the wine, as we ate the same as everyone else but the wine was only shared between us two. We purchased the wine in Lismore. It's batch no is L17270 10:05 54
Charged wrong
Hi,
I was charged for 2 bottles of glenfeddich, however I only purchased 1 bottle. I went home without noticing it.
My wife just went through the receipt and asked me how many bottles of glenfeddich I have got. I said to her only one.
She showed me the receipt and I was shocked to see that dan murphy has charged me for 2 bottles.
I went back to the store and requested the staff member to check the cameras. They looked at the cameras and gave me a refund. I asked the staff member whats their policy for or code of conduct for wrong scanning and excessive charging to customers. Staff member said that they have no such policy in place and replied that they have smart scanners which pick up wrong scanning and error happened as it was busy.
Well I think being busy is good but it should not be an excuse for charging your customers wrong. Secondly I would not say that the scanners were smart as this error was not picked up in my case.
My wife look at the receipt and it came into our notice. Had it gone unnoticed I would have been ripped off by dan murphy.
I have retained both receipts as proof of purchase which have been attached as attachment as well.

I purchased a carton of beer, partly on price, then while going through the checkout, noticed it was a few dollars more expensive than the sales sign indicated. I am aware of a voluntary code of practice in supermarkets regarding incorrect scannings, however it seems uncle Dan doesn t have one...I d ask "why not.
The young man serving me was nice and obliging, and when challenged he adjusted the price... how about tightening up the processes uncle?
Voucher offer "not my problem"
At 3.44pm today I purchased a slab of Great Northern Super Crisp stubbies from Dan Murphy's store in Malvern (Dandenong Rd). I didn't ask for a receipt but I have my bank card details where $40.90 was deducted from my account. The main reason I switched brands was because of the 'voucher' offer plastered on all 4 corners of the slab - "Get a $10 BCF Voucher in every case".
When I arrived home, I refrigerated all 4 packs and eventually attempted to find the said voucher - without any luck (there was no voucher or no unique code located inside the case).
At 5.23pm I rang the DM Head Office (1300 723 388) and after a wait of maybe 5-6 minutes my call was taken by DM's "Don" (I think).
I explained the missing coupon and after referring the issue to someone else, Don's reply was for me to chase the problem with the Great Northern company - I objected strongly to this suggestion stating that it was DM where I purchased the slab and I expected DM to resolve the issue.
Don's second option was for me to return the slab (which had already been refrigerated in 4x6 packs) to the DM store and to see if the store would consider swapping my slab for a new one!
How's that for hopeless customer service.
I thanked Don for nothing.
The BCF voucher's worth is insignificant but the dismal DM customer service was pathetic.
All I wanted was the missing voucher - without Don's suggested solutions for me to jump through hoops.
Very annoyed.
Harassed by a staff member
Myself and my partner were in DM Chermside looking at birthday cards and a short balding male employer came up to us and started harrasssing us because he claims we looked under 25. Now I have been in that store and made purchases at least 20 times before and have never been asked for Id. We asked if he thought we were stealing and he claims that he didn't he just wanted to see our iD now myself and my partner are 27 we do not look under 25 and were looking at birthday cards for goodness sake we won't be going back to that store again because he wouldn't leave us alone. We went and spent our money at BWS.

Hi,
I'm appalled by the quality of customer service I had to go through today trying to do a $1764.00 transaction!
The website didn't work (i tried to pay with PayPal). Then I called to do it over the phone.
I gave my VISA details and received almost instantly an SMS from my bank confirming transaction was approved . However, the gentleman i was talking to said that it was rejected (?!), asking me to check with my bank. I told him I have recieved SMS confirming transaction was ok.
Anyhow, giving him the benefit of the doubt, I gave him another credit card (AMEX), and this time he said transaction went through.
Then, I called my bank who confirmed that the initial transaction (VISA) has actually been charged.
I call back the Customer Service and another gentleman after putting me on hold for 10 minutes and checking told me that the reason my VISA was refused is because they received the approval from my bank only after transaction with AMEX was approved!
This is obviously a complete lie as I have the time stamps of my SMS, and different credit card transactions.
Now, I'm told I will be reimbursed the initial VISA transaction within 4/5 working days!
It sounds a lot like a SCAM and a very dishonest way to double charge customers who are not too careful. I will treat the initial VISA transaction as a FRAUD.
Now, from Woolworth or DanMurphy branding perspective, I'm giving you one chance to contact me back and explain why I had to deal with such a scam/hustling attempt. Failing to do so, I will not only stop being a customer (no brainer) but I will go to the Media...
Cyril Daoud.
Your delivery service
Ordered for delivery 3 Cases of wine. Order number [protected], was notified that the good news on 16/11 that the product was on my way. On the 17th the message was get excited the delivery by Ankur was to be delivered today at 9.32am by Akur. At 10.56am a further message was received saying the delivery was unsuccessful, Will let me know once the delivery has been re booked.
I was home all morning and there was no way that this delivery came to my door, 2 reasons being that the was no knock or doorbell ringing at all this morning. Second being I have a dog and even a truck in driveway or anyone at the front door, She gets excited, and barks, profusely, so were is my delivery? I contacted your customer service, he was excellent in answering as far a he could go, I as yet have not been contacted back I expected this delivery to arrive today as expecting visitors, and it is with great inconvenience that my order did not arrive. I requested that the re delivery be left at the front door and was told looking into my request as it requires a signature. As I have ordered on line before without a problem...What happened here?
I need an urgent reply. Perhaps you should run a ckeck on Ankur's credibility...
Rude condescending staff/refused service
On Friday the 3rd Nov 2017 my identical twin sister and i went into Tamworth Dan Murphys at approx. 3pm. We were both of legal age turning 18 on the 25th Oct 2017. There was security at the premises and we were allowed entry to the store. As we were making our alcohol selections a young light brown haired male staff member approached us. Asked us how we were going and then asked us for our ID. We presented our IDs being our drivers licenses. He commented "your twins" as he looked at our IDs together. He then said Yours is fine to me but then looked at my sisters again and said yours isnt valid as it has a hole in it. She said yes i just went for my green Ps and passed so i have this permit to show in place of the red licence until it comes in the mail. He replied wait im not finished speaking. Then he said thats not valid even with the permit we dont recognise it here its not a proof of identity as it has a hole in it. Even though he could see my current legal permit and my photo id and DOB along with the fact he accepted we were twins and that he also accepted my twins ID with my being the exact same i dont understand why there was an issue. There was another staff member on duty who we knew who also validated she knew us and that we were 18. Not that she needed to as we had the ID there. We felt embarrassed and belittled in front of everyone else in the shop. We feel he was simply power playing and was condescending. We were of legal age with legal ID making a legal purchase. We would like to see him retrained in customer service and legalities and would like an apology as it was embarrassing and we did nothing wrong.
Bank account charged, no order received.
Hello, I placed an order (6x Cirello Vincent's Grenache, 6x Shaw & Smith Sauvignon Blanc, total $257.04). I did not receive a confirmation email (to account gabrielle.[protected]@gmail.com) but on checking my bank account the above total has been deducted. I called the customer service this morning (she was lovely and apologetic) but explained that no order was received and it would take up to 7 business days for the money to be refunded.
I put the order through in time to be able to collect the order (from Rosebury) by tomorrow. I'm now not able to collect and also not able to re-order as the money is gone from the account. Is there any credit, reissue of the order or arrangement that can allow my card charges and money missing for a week to be compensated?
Thank you.
.
Price match and rude staff
On 1st november I was made aware celebrations were selling cases of corona for $35 so I rang the 1300 number to confirm you would price match. I was told yes and went to the balga store and went to the counter and showed the offer... I was refused the price match and staff were rude and nasty whilst dealing with me. I was spoken to very rudely.
The female at the store was aggressive in her tone and kept telling me the bottles were not the same size but I showed her they were and was basically called a liar. The supervisor was more professional but refused me the price match even after I again showed him the offer. The manager refused the price offer also and was rude saying that I was a joke and no way coronas would be sold for that amount and I should get out of the store. This was done in front of other customers which embarassed me and held me up for nearly 10 minutes. I then left the store and went and bought the coronas for $35 a case. I have been a loyal customer for years and im now likely never to return again because of this incident... Staff were rude... Staff on phone made promises that were not kept and your price promise to customers is a lie!
