Today I just had the most horrible experience with David's Bridal. Today was my 3rd visit to DB in the last 2 weeks. They were so very unorganized and left me to fend for myself. Talk about self-service. They never informed me that I would need to schedule a separate date for alteration and when I did show up today for alteration they could not find my gown, the alternator spoke very poor English so he and I did not understand each other at all. Then there is the failure to assist me in putting on the gown. Nobody seemed to know what the heck to explain to me. They push the accessories on you big time and remind you over and over that nothing is refundable. I can go on and on. Of course I called the 1-800 number today to complain about the poor cust. service and the best you can do is leave a message. Nobody has gotten back to me. It amazes me that this company is still in business. I researched on-line today and there are several complaints out on poor cust. service with D.B. One more thing. I asked every question you can think of to avoid what has happened to me. I asked them how much time they needed for alterations. I was told several times 6 weeks. Well I showed up today for my alteration and they tell me they need 8-12 weeks depending on what is altered. If the gown wasn't so pretty and it wasn't 6 weeks till my wedding I would have walked out of there. I strongly urge you to go somewhere else or at least at the very minimum bring a couple of gals with you so that you may not be treated so poorly. By the way, there are even more details that I can't even think of at this time because I'm so upset over this horrible experience.
I can safely agree with everything that I have read about David's bridal. I had the most horrific experience with them as well I went in to the Tacoma store to look at dresses and was told that I had to make an appointment, OK fine, so I made one and came back the next day for the "scheduled" appointment first off my wedding consultant was a b**ch she totally left me standing there in my undergarments so I had to have my sister help me try on dresses, well come to find out that my consultant was to busy helping a fellow employee of hers try on wedding dress instead of helping me. She then had the nerve to come back over to me and my sis and rudely tell us that we couldn't put the dresses on ourselves, that I had to have a consultant help us do that. That was it I had, had it I had my sis take the dress off me and I threw it on the ground and told her that if she was doing her job like she was supposed to be doing I wouldn't have to try them on myself. I swore that I would never go back to another Davids again. But wanting to see if I would get better service at another David's I went to the Olympia store and worked with Lynn and was treated the same way I was treated at the Tacoma store, but just as I was ready to have a break down I was fortunate enough to have another consultant Heather talk to me and help me the way I should have been helped the first time so this is in no way directed at her. DO NOT SHOP AT DAVID'S BRIDAL very bad customer service .
I whole heartedly agree with you both. My girlfriend and I (friends since grade school) are both getting married with in weeks of one another. We wanted to try on dresses at the same time which since our store has more than one area it would have worked wonderful. The lady I spoke with said that we could have our appointments at the same time and that they would make sure that we could at least get the others opinion. We arrived at our initial appointment and I was informed that because we knew one another that we could not try on dresses at the same time. That broke both of our hearts; but because my girlfriend had her heart set on one dress only made by David's Bridal I let her go ahead and try on. Around that same time a group of high school aged young ladies entered to look at their dress selection. The consultant we were working with left us for almost 45 min just hanging out at the mirror. Every time I would try to help my friend the consultant would shout from across the store for me to "stay away from the dress". Needless to say it put us both over the edge. My girlfriend changed into her street clothes picked up the gown she was wearing and threw it at the consultant telling her where she could put the dress. We went to this quaint dress shop in the neighboring town and picked out two beautiful Alfred Angelo gowns for our weddings. These dresses are much better quality and pretty comparable in price. Oh and we got to try our dresses on at the same time. NEVER EVER SHOP AT DAVIDS BRIDAL.
I ended up sending back the wedding dress I ordered 7 times! They came in dirty, or missing beads, or clasps not working - you name, I got it. They finally got it right, but it took me yelling that I wanted a BRAND NEW dress - not one that had been in a store being tried on for months.
THE DEPTFORD NJ STORE THAT I WENT TO SUCKED REALLY BAD! THE WOMAN THAT WAS HELPING THE BRIDE WAS HELPING THE BRIDESMAIDS, ALSO. IF YOU WANT TO CALL THAT HELP! THE OLNY THING SHE DID WAS TO DIRECT US IN THE DIRECTION OF THE CHOICE OF DRESSES WE WERE TO CHOOSE FROM. THE BRIDE'S, BRIDESMAIDS GOT TO CHOOSE FROM DIFFERENT DRESSES TO FIT ALL OF OUR SIZES BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO GET THE SAME COLOR. IT WAS NICE FOR THE BRIDE TO DO THAT. BUT AS FOR THE HELP IN THE STORE THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET HELP FROM, SHE WAS NOT THERE TO HELP AT ALL. THE ONE DRESS THAT I GOT WAS BEAUTIFUL, BUT I HAVE A BIG CHEST. THERE WAS NO WAY TO EVEN GET MATERIAL FROM ANYWHERE OFF THE DRESS TO TRY TO COVER THE ALMOST EXPOSED BREASTS THAT I WOULD HAVE HAD IN THAT DRESS. THEN I TRIED THE DRESS ON IN THE STORE, IT FIT A LITTLE BIGGER ON ME. THEY DID NOT HAVE MY SIZE DRESS IN THE STORE. SO WHEN I ORDERED THE DRESS WHEN I GOT HOME FROM THE STORE, (I ORDERED ON THE PHONE) I ORDERED THE SIZE I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET. WHEN IT CAME IN, I WENT TO PICK UP THE DRESS AND THEY DID NOT TELL ME TO TRY ON THE DRESS WHEN I PICKED IT UP. THEY JUST SAID HERE YOU GO, HAVE A NICE DAY! NOW, I STILL HAVE NOT EVEN RECIEVED MY RECIEPT FOR THIS DRESS TILL ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I PICKED UP THE DRESS! NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT ANY FINAL RETURNS, OR IF YOU TRY THE DRESS ON WHEN YOU GET HOME, YOU CAN'T RETURN IT, OR YOU CAN'T GET STORE CREDIT, NOTHING! ON THE RECEIPT IT SAYS ALL SALES ARE FINAL! BUT I HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT SINCE THE GIRL AT THE STORE DID NOT HELP US OR WHEN I PAID FOR THE DRESS ON THE PHONE OR WHEN I PICKED UP THE DRESS THAT ALL THE SALES WERE FINAL!WHEN I PUT THE DRESS ON ABOUT ONE WEEK AFTER I GOT THE DRESS, I NOTICED EVERYTHING FIT ME EXCEPT THE BREAST PART! WELL, THE COLORS OF THE DRESSES THAT WE ALL HAD TO GET WAS WATERMELON. WHEN WE WENT IN THERE THEY TOLD US IT WAS A TEST COLOR AND THEY WOULD BE DISCONTINUING THAT COLOR STARTING IN JUNE! THAT WAS THE COLOR THAT THE BRIDE WANTED! WELL, THE COLOR IS STILL AVAILABLE AND IT IS NOW AUGUST! I WAS STESSING SO BAD ON MAKING SURE THAT I WOULD BE GETTING ANOTHER DRESS WITH THE COLOR WATERMELON THAT WOULD FIT THE PROPER WAY ON ME! WHEN I BROUGHT THE DRESS BACK TO THE STORE, THE GIRL AT THE COUNTER TOLD ME IT COULD NOT BE RETURNED! I TOLD HER I JUST GOT IT AND THE CHEST PART DID NOT FIT! I TOLD HER I WOULD LIKE TO JUST AT LEAST GET A STORE CREDIT (SINCE I HAD TO GET A DRESS ANYWAY) SHE TOLD ME NO. SO WHEN ANOTHER GIRL CAME TO HELP ME SHE TOLD ME THAT WATERMELON WAS STILL AVAILABLE. WHEN I TRIED THE DRESS ON FOR HER, SHE COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT EVEN SOMEONE FROM THAT STORE WOULD NOT HAVE TOLD ME THAT THIS DRESS WAS NOT FOR BIG BREASTED WOMEN! THERE WAS NO WAY TO EVEN ADD MATERIAL TO THE DRESS. I ASKED THE ALTERATIONS LADY ABOUT IT. SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE ALSO COULD NOT BELIEVE THEY WOULD LET ME GET A DRESS LIKE THAT! SO BASICALLY THEY WERE NO HELP, VERY DECEIPTFUL, AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY WERE EVEN DOING LETTING ME BUY THIS DRESS! I TRIED TO FIND A PHONE ## FOR MAYBE THE COOPERATE OFFICE OR SOMETHING, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING LISTED TO CONTACT THEM AT ALL ON THERE WEBSITE! THEY KNOW THAT THEY STEER PEOPLE WRONG THEY ARE NOT STUPID! SO NOW I AM OUT $170 AND HAD TO BUY ANOTHER DRESS THAT I DON'T LIKE AT ALL FOR ANOTHER $100! TALK ABOUT PISSED! I HATE THEM! THE WORST I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!
I didn't have a problem with David's Bridal until my friend's wedding this past weekend. The zipper on my bridesmaid dress broke two hours before the ceremony, and I had to have a tailor sew me into the dress. The reason the zipper broke was because it was sewn in unevenly when the dress was manufactured. When I called the store to see if they could even do anything for methey were completely unapologetic and refused to help whatsoever. When I wanted a refund they laughed at the idea over the phone.
I felt even worse for the bride, who couldn't dance in her thousand dollar Oleg Cassini gown because all three of her bustle buttons and threads broke during the reception. I don't understand why they would manufacture a dress with bustle functions if they're not strong enough to support the weight of the dress until the wedding was over.
Whether her dress cost 10 dollars or a thousand dollars, it should work, and my zipper should have worked as well. I would recommend shopping elsewhere, but make sure the quality is there, and if you're a bride have a tailor double enforce the bustle buttons on your wedding gown. Watching my friend sit in the corner and not be able to enjoy her own wedding was heart breaking!
This is the same company as All Wedding Products (allweddingproducts.com is the same as allbridalproducts.com). DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE! The CEO, Brad Abert, buys new domains when people catch on to his scam. He will take your money but not send you your product. Look up All Wedding Products and you will see hundreds of other complaints about him.
I am so apalled David's Bridal is an actual legitimate business because they understandably are unfeeling, rude, conniving, rejects! I agree with every complaint on this message board. The owner/CEO of DB, Bob Huth should be ashamed of his business letting it run so horribly! What in the name of god ever placed so many brides in so much disorder, peril, and downright anarchy! I say one thing, if you are looking to find a wedding gown, do not ever go to a ny David's Bridal! You will regret it.
I agree. My first experience with David's Bridal was the one located in Duluth, Minnesota and they were rude and pushy. Also, don't give them your credit card because RIGHT after they run it through the ALL SALES ARE FINAL CARD GETS PLAYED even if you change your mind 1 second after it happens and before you leave the store. The sales clerks were slick and unprofessional.
AVOID DAVIDS BRIDAL AT ALL COSTS. READ OTHER BLOGS OR GOOGLE DAVIDS BRIDAL COMPLAINTS AND INFORM YOURSELF!
Brides don't understand how David's Bridal tries to extort and charge usury fees to vendors to offer their custom colors. Brides buy a dress from David's Bridal, then can't match the color very easily. Reason. David's Bridal tries to charge vendors thousands of dollars in setup fees + percentage, just to advertise their products with David's Bridal color options. If you are a wedding vendor and don't comply, you get a nasty copyright notice. David's Bridal is literally picking on Ebayers trying to shake them down for thousands of dollars. I've looked at web reports and there is very little traffic for people seeking out David's Bridal products or colors. Don't buy from David's Bridal. Go to a small business designer shop. It's better to spend money on a nice dress than be forced to pay $20 on David's Bridal's site for a pillow that matches.
So I am getting married in october of 2010 and i ordered my wedding dress early so i can have a bridal shoot before the wedding. The first time i went into davids bridal i quickly realized they are very unorganized and very rude! My consultant was really nice but she had to work with 3 brides at the same time! After i was fitted for my dress i met with the alterations department they were trying to talke me into doing all kinds of stuff to my dress that i didnt want done nor did it need to be done! They were really rude in calling me ALL the time trying to get me to get my bridesmaids dresses from there! and that was the last thing i was going to do considering how rude they were. Well i called them a few days ago and i was told my dress had come in. I go to pick up the dress and what do you know they have let me down AGAIN! they ordered the WRONG dress! My dress wont be in in time for it to have alterations done and because of that im not able to have my bridal shoot! and to top it all of they wouldnt even tell me they were sorry for making a mistake! so i called the corporate office and they said they were sorry but it was ordered and it would be in as soon as possible... i told the lady do you not realize that i am not able to have my bridal shoot now? and all she had to say was that the dress was ordered and it would be in as soon as possible! I CANT STAND DAVIDS BRIDAL AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO USE THEM!
I totally agree with the complaints. I had an appointment at David's Bridal on the 9th of April in Chicago, IL the Orland Park Location. My appointment was at 5:30 but I was left waiting for about 30 minutes before my actual consultant appeared. I had to go to management to see why we hadn't been helped yet. When she finally did show up she was rude and acted as if she had better things to do. After assigning my bridesmaids and I to a fitting room she completely disappears and I had to AGAIN find a manager to see what the problem was. By this time I'm pissed and annoyed that my entire party (of 6) was being completely overlooked. Once "Nikki" did show back up on the scene after being sought after by management the 2nd time she THEN makes an attempt to be of service. After trying on a few dresses on my bridesmaids, I was ready to step into a dress of my own. Nikki picked out one dress, didn't help me put it on, didn't help fit it to me, and had an attitude when I asked her to grab it. After dropping the dress off on us she left for the remainder of the appointment and was never seen again. This was the most unprofessional, impersonal, and all together horrible experience. I will never go back to this David's Bridal and I'm still trying to find a corporate number to file a complaint against Nikki at the Orland Park David's Bridal in Chicago, IL.
I could write an entire book of how terrible David's Bridal is but, I will sum up the entire experience, as quick as possible. I should've known from the first time I walked in to turn and run!
First-if you insist on purchasing from them or their stores...better have an appointment. The first time we went they attempted to turn me and all of my bridesmaid, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, and hostess away because they could not "fit us in" and we were not allowed to look or try anything on without a consultant.
Second-do not assume that when they give you colors and sizes and let you try on that you can actually purchase or order that dress. After my bridemaid's went through the entire process of selecting, trying on, and deciding upon a style that we could receive in colors and sizes we wanted...we went to order anc check-out only to find we could not get those afterall. Two hours and an appointment wasted.
Third-They cannot give you a definite delivery time. Nothing they have quoted has held true and everytime we attempt to call regarding appointments, fittings, order status, etc we are always placed on hold for an average of 38 minutes.
Fourth- Alterations...aahhh alterations. My final fitting ended up not being final. I even called the day of the appointment to ensure everything was ready and was told yes. I live 1 & 1/2 hours away. They put me in the dress with no mention that it was not complete. I lifted the top 2 layers to see what the last layer was made of ...only to find the last layer of the dress was still in pins...not sewn. When I brought this to their attention they said don't worry they will reschedule my pick up...FOR THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING!
Fifth-Called corporate because, of course, no manager was there. Corporate called the store and presto the dress was now ready within the week. Set another appointment, and hour and a half drive, picked up the dress and went home to try it on because they were "busy" that day. Guess what, the final hem drags 2-3inches on the floor. Called manager and explained. She advised she would call corporate to see what they could do.
Sixth- Corporate stated they wouldn't do anything unless I came back to them AGAIN! Yeah, that wasn't happening so I'm stuck with a rotten hem on my dress and having to find another seamstress to fix. After spending well over $1, 000.00 on my dress.
Seventh- The service there is rude and "prissy" in my daughter's terms.
I will be getting married in May 2016. My experience with DB was horrible also. I do not recommend anyone to this business. The consultants are rude and young fools As a bride I expect to be pampered and assist as much a possible with my bridal party. I'm so turned off.
