I went to David's Bridal about a week ago. This was my first time in the store and probably my last. I had an appointment scheduled to try on wedding dresses. I was told someone would be helping me the whole time we were there. First of all, I didn't like their dresses anyways, but I was open to trying on some of the ones I didn't. The woman that was helping me probably spent a total of 30 minutes with me out of the 2 hours I had blocked off for myself and my sisters who are bridesmaids. I did not feel as if I was taken care of at all! She spent more time with another young lady that was set on buying a dress there than she did with me. Almost with the attitude of "If she doesn't know what she wants, I'm not going to help her."

To top it all off, we found out that alterations were going to be outrageous! $120 for a hem alone! The last bridal shop we went to had only a $60 hem charge and it was a designer store! I was not in any way treated like the princess that every bride wants to be treated as when she walks into a bridal shop. I would discourage everyone I know from getting a dress at David's Bridal! They don't care about you! Just your money!

Umm, Sharon. That comment was uncalled for! David's Bridal is the KMart of bridal dresses. Rude service, ugly dresses.

I went in yesterday to look at a dress... I was so nervous and excited! When i got to the store i was great okay but after the promise of a consultant i had almost no interaction with any of the several employees they had available. I got no help what so ever except when i was given a catalog. Sure the ladies probably work hard but only for the girls that can afford the pricey dresses... Everyone who walks in store should be given great customer service. The was no back breaking for me and the one time i asked for help the lady acted as if it was an inconvenience to her... So i will never go back and the dress i had in hand to buy was put back... I get better service at the blockbuster down the street and it is only a $6 dollar rental... And they make a lot less money...

I totally agree the girls are idiots that work there. Very unprofessional I even complained to the corporate office and they dont give a *. So they say for every one person that has a bad experience they tell ten people hopefully they go out of business eventually with their cheap dresses!

I had an awful experience there and wrote a letter to them which I must say they don't care about the customers its all about the money I never recieved a return letter ..this was my letter...
I actually have a complaint... I live in Springfield Vermont I traveled 3 hours to Nashua NH to Davids Bridal..The sale of $99.00 gowns caught my attention... I made an appt at 12:30 on 1/7/08 my Bridal consultant was Karen... I went into the store and was shown different gowns when I asked about the 99 dollar sale she said oh we dont have many I will show you them... I was brought to the back of the store where I was shown 5 gowns not one looked like it would fit then I was told this was all that it wasnt really a sale...just had to get rid of those gowns... I was NOT pleased that is like switch and bait...I then figured since I traveled 3 hours I should look and try on some other dressed I had a friend with me which is a good thing as I only saw Karen 4 times in 3 hours she had 4 or 5 other brides the other brides were very upset that day as they did not recieve attention from her either ...I was not happy with the sale the service and the bait and switch but I did put a gown on layaway . i'm seriously thinking of contacting the better business Bureau. Not only was I made to think from the commercials that I would be able to have a few choices of 99 dollar gowns but I was made to think if I made an appt that I would recieve help choosing a gown by a trained prof. I put the gown on layaway and was asked if I wanted to purchase a bag to put it in...i'm shocked for 700 dollars they dont give u a bag that was also shocking then when I read the slip before signing it I was told that to have a bussle put on my gown that would be extra...I noticed on the gown I purchased that some beads were falling off I was told they would have to be fixed and the gown would be gone over at an additional charge ...I do love the dress I picked out but I really think this is poor business I certainly wouldnt send my 2 friends that are getting married also over there...i'm going to look at some gowns at a place near where I live to see if I can find something comprable...I do hope that you write back as that would also be a sign of poor business if I did not hear from you... thank you for reading this..

A VERY unsatisfied customer!

I BOUGHT MY WEDDING DRESS AND ALL MY BRIDES MAIDS DRESSES AND MY FLOWER GIRLS DRESS AND MY NOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND MY FUTHER MOTHER IN LAW AND HER MOTHER BOUGHT THEIR DRESSES THEIR ALSO. I ALSO BOUGHT THE VEIL, SHOES AND A FEW OTHER THINGS.THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY TO SPEND IN ONE PLACE . THE SERVICE WAS SO BAD AND THE PEOPLE THAT HELPED YOU WERE SO RUDE.

I HAD TO HAVE A LITTLE ALTERATION ON MY DRESS AND I WANTED BRA CUPS PUT IN SO I DIDN'T HAVE TO WEAR A BRA. INSTEAD OF PUTTING THE CUPS INSIDE THE LINING THEY JUST TACKED THEM TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE DRESS WHICH I COULD HAVE DONE THAT AND SAVED THE MONEY THAT IT COST.

AFTER THEY ADDED THE BRA CUPS THEN THE DRESS WAS TO TIGHT AND I HAD TO PAY ANOTHER 58$ TO HAVE THEM LET MY DRESS OUT.
WHEN I WAS READY TO LEAVE THE STORE WITH MY DRESS THEY WERE JUST GOING TO PUT IT IN A PLASTIC BAG WITH DAVIDS BRIDAL ON IT. I ASK ABOUT A GARMENT BAG AND THEY SAID I HAD TO BUY ONE AT THE PRICE OF TEN MORE DOLLARS. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD GIVE YOU A NICE BAG OR A BOX TO PUT YOUR DRESS IN. I WOULD NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM DAVIDS BRIDAL AGAIN AND I WILL TELL ANY ONE THAT TALKS ABOUT IT NOT TO GO THERE FOR THEIR WEDDIND DRESSES.

THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE THE HAPPIEST TIME OF A GIRLS LIFE AND MINE WAS A NIGHTMARE. SOMEOME THAT HAS SOME SAY SO AT DAVIDS BRIDAL NEEDS TO TAKE A LOOK AT HOW THEIR STORES ARE BEING MANAGED AND SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE TO BETTER SERVE THE PEOPLE THAT SHOP THEIR.

My daughter drove down to Davids Bridal 3/18/08 after school to get her prom dress she saw on Davids Prom website. It is an hour and a half drive to Nashua from where we live. I gave my daughter the $180 dollars to get the prom dress that she wanted, the color she wanted and told her to make sure she try it on before she buys it. She arrived at Davids around 4:30 pm and found the dress in her size, size 4 the only one, all the others were sized in the 20's. She tried on the dress and it fit perfect. The dress had a sash/bow around the waist that hung on the loops that were on the dress. When my daughter came home she tried on the dress and it fit perfect, I told her to hook on the bow so I could see the whole picture and thats when we could not figure it out. I finally realized that the sash that was attached to her dress was not fitting right because it was for a size 22 dress! I called Davids Bridal and explained this whole ordeal and Karen "the manager" said we could return the sash and pick up the size 4 sash. I explained it was an hour and a half drive and could she just UPS us the one that goes with the dress. She said she would not send it to us until we send her the size 22 sash. I explained that what if your store makes another mistake and you recieve my sash and then do not send us the right one then my daughter is left with no sash at all not even one that can be altered! She said that my problem! I have decided to bring the sash to an alteration place near our home and have them alter the $10.00 piece of fabric to fit my daughters gown. It is going to cost me $6.00 to have it altered I would have had to pay that to send it back, and then wonder if they were even going to send me back the correct one. If my daughter drove back down it would have been $50.00 in gas alone! I will never do business with Davids Bridal again, all because they would not send me the correct sash for my daughters gown, not a dress a sash! A $10.00 SASH! That they messed up on! My daughter has many friends at her school who are shopping for gowns and she is telling them the story and to be sure never to shop at Davids Bridal. The lady who does my alterations was totally surprised and she will be sure to tell her clients of this mishap and not to do business with Davids Bridal. It just sucks that people have to be so unkind and unfair! Dress style #81123 color, peridot size 4

My daughter got her $135 bridesmaid dress at Davids for my son's wedding. She went for her fitting and after the seamstress pinned the dress for a hem, a little taken in under the arms and straps lifted about 1/4 inch I was told that it was $121.50. I said "you've got to be kidding" she said no that was the price. I said "forget it" and I told her to remove all the pins. We are taking it to a seamstress at a private bridal boutique and she is charging $50.

GET OVER YOURSELF! IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE DRESSES WHY DID YOU AGREE TO STICK AROUND FOR 2 HOURS? ARE YOU THAT MUCH IN NEED OF ATTENTION? GET A LIFE! I HOPE YOUR FUTURE HUSBAND KNOWS WHAT A SPOILED WENCH HE'S GETTING FOR A WIFE.

AS FOR EVERYONE ELSE WHO COMPLAINED -- IF YOU DIDN'T CHECK ABOUT THE SASH ALONG WITH THE CASHIER THEN IT IS YOUR FAULT, TOO. EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES, THAT WHY YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO GET IT DONE. MOREOVER, THERE ARE OTHER BRIDAL PLACES OUT THERE, GO LOOK- THEY'RE ALL THE SAME!

FURTHER, THE REASON THE ALTERATIONS COST SO MUCH IS BECAUSE THEIR WORK IS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE BY PROFESSIONALS, NOT BY THE PERSON WHO OWNS A SHOP ON THE CORNER -- DAVID'S BRIDAL SPECIALIZES IN WEDDING GOWN ALTERATIONS. IN SHORT, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Well I don't really know where to start, there is so much that went wrong.
but first things first MY Daughter and her friend went to look at wedding dress because my daughter was to be Married on October 3, 2008. I her mother told here to go looking and narrow down which ones she liked. So she did and me and her grandmother took her to look at the dress that she pick out. And when I saw the dress I knew that this was not the dress for my daughter that she has been talked into it and I expressed my concern right away, that this dress was not the type that she would ware so I got more options out but the young assistant kept talking her about how good the dress look and so on and so on,
So we went with the dress that was $450.00. and by the time we left the store the bill had become $1500.00. or so. and they were running a special 300.00 off and dress and when I ask about that I was told that the dress that she pick out was not included.

Well about a week pass and my daughter came to me crying, because she didn't like the dress that she pick out that the associate pushed her into getting the dress. So we headed back to David's bridal to see what we could do old by the way we paid cash the first time before we walked out the door.
So I went to the seamstress to see if the dress had at all been alter. and nothing had been done to the dress it was still handing on the rack. so we found her a new dress that I knew that she would wear. and it was beautiful so when it came time to refund the difference they told us they didn't do refunds. So now we are stuck with a $550.00 store credit which I am not sure what i am supposed to do with now that the wedding is over. MY MAJOR COMPLAIN IS THAT HER DRESS NEVER LEFT DAVID'S BRIDAL NEVER LEFT THE STORE. I SHOULD HAVE GOT A FULL REFUND OF IN CASH OR CHECK BECAUSE AS BE OF AND ORGANIZATION AS DAIVD'S BRIDAL THEY SHOULD HAVE HAVE A MUCH BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE PLAN. AND OF COURSE THEY GAVE ME A DISTRICT NUMBER THAT NO ONE WORKS AT ON AND ANSWERING MACHINE.

SO IF YOU NO ANY ONE WANT TO PURCHASE A DRESS I HAVE A GIFT CARD FOR $550.00 DOLLARS

BUT I WOULD SENT MY WORSE ENEMY TO THIS PLACE .

I got my wedding Gown at David's NH, my consultant Ann was pretty amazing ... she actually listened to what I wanted and she was the one who found the dress of my dreams. She kept in touch with me even after I purchased my dress and she also helped all my brides maids to find their dresses (they all had different dresses)

I was lucky because I had Ann as my consultant and I know that some of the other people that work there don't seem to give a **** but what I don't understant is if you didn't like the service, the dresses, the alteration prices and everything else ... why did you still get your gown there ... there are other Bridal stores, there is one right up the road from david's you could have gone there instead.

And in response to Laura who said that all the girls that work there are idiots ... I think that all of you who got your gowns at David's even though you didn't like one thing about your visit are idiots, nobody forced you to buy anything.

Stay away from David's Bridal by any means necessary! After an hour of my opinion being ignored, several tiares being shoved into my scalp, watching the salewomen fake cry, and having an allergic reaction to one of the veils ( hives up and down the back of my shoulders and arms), I actually did fall in love with a dress and was ready to the heck out of Dodge. I told the saleswomen repeatedly that I did not want ANYTHING but the dress and was not interested in their jewelry. As I was with the seamstress in the back, though, I required shoes of the same height I was going to wear on my wedding day, so they could alter accordingly. The salewomen brought me some random shoes and I wore them just for the seamstress. Per my mother days later, the sales lady then proceeded to tell her, who was paying up front at the time, that I indeed wanted the shoes and brought her another pair. What? Once I figured this out several days later, I tried to return the things. No big deal. The only response I received was, 'All sales are final. We have a sign'. OK, great sign, by the way, but did you just hear me tell you that your saleswomen tricked my mother into buying items I specifically said I did not want? They seemed perfectly fine with this and again showed me their fabulous sign with a stunning Vanna White impression. It wasn't a lot of money, but that's not the point. That is flat out shady. Even forgetting the circumstances, why is it a big deal to return something in less than a week that have never even left their original box and bag? To anyone reading this, please just buy a dress off a guy selling them out of the back of his truck in some alley somewhere. You will feel exponentially more confidant about the product you're purchasing than going to David's Bridal.

I had a fantastic experience with Autumn back in 2005 when I got married, she was patient and listened and was a great help. I didnt end up buying a dress because I couldn't afford a $600 dress...any way, we returned to davids to get the bridesmaids dresses and had HORRIBLE service, we were basically on our own. I was highly annoyed but still remembered the great service I had the first time and figured it was just a bad day. Well my sister just got engaged and we mad an appointment for today at 12:30, the woman Linda was FANTASTIC! She was patient, funny, cheerful and all around just acted like she liked her job. I think the problem is that so many people in this world are so god damn angry that its hard to find a positive person out there...My sister found abeautiful gown and we love our bridesmaids dresses...its going to be a beautiful day!

I was on the David's Bridal website yesterday...I told my daughter that the selection of prom gowns shown on the website was really good, and many of the styles were showing available in the store...we walked into the store, and were greeted by a table of employees, of which only one spoke..I said that we were here for a prom gown for my daughter...we were directed to the left of the store--special occasion...I asked if they were sorted by size, and we were told no--they are sorted by style...since my daughter and I are plus sized, this is really an inconvience...it takes a lot of time to sort through dresses that are not even carried in sizes above a 14...what a joke---not one of the dresses were prom dresses--they were just bridesmaid dresses, and mother of the bride gowns...my daughter did try on a couple, and ended up in tears...NO ONE offered to help, or even offered a few styles in her size range...the employees should know what is carried, and possibly there were some styles that could have been pointed out to us that would look good on a full figured girl...my daughter was already out the door and heading for the car when FINALLY one of the seated employees asked if we found anything...I told her no, and that it would have been nice to have some service, and that the website is very misleading in showing the "huge selection" of prom gowns, and that there is not much of a selection for bigger gals...the employee said nothing...so, before any of you fans of David's Bridal writes a nasty reply, no, I don't think my daughter and I are princesses, and we didn't expect exclusive treatment...but, on a snowy Wednesday night, with no one else really to wait on in the store, it would have been nice to at least been treated like human beings...

Maybe your daughter should have learned to grow some balls and say NO. You don't have to do everything the sales associate tells you to, and it was her choice to purchase the dress. i can't feel sorry for someone who doesn't know how to say no.

And seriously, learn how to spell. I could barely understand what you were saying.

I went to the Nashua NH store. it was my first time tring on wedding dresses. i made an appt. waited OVER AN HOUR to get any kind of service. I had already pick out/ was holding 3 dresses by the time someone came over to help me. I tried on one dress- said in a nice way, i didnt like the way it fit. the women took the other 2 dresses i WAS going to try on-walked away-and come back with 1 dress that was almost three times as much! when i asked how much the dress was, i said it was just to much...over $800.00! not on sale. she was so mean to me, she said "FINE THEN" and walked away. SHE NEVER CAME BACK! SO RUDE! i waited over an hour for my appt (to top it off we were 10 mins early) and she spent a total of maybe 5 mins with me. Never even asked me my size, never even brought me over a bra- i looked so dumb when i tried on my white strapless dress whit my black bra sticking out all over the place. I was so upset-i wanted to cry. I had my 3 bridesmans, my flower girl, my mother with me. We were all looking to buy our dresses that day-i stated that over the phone. We were all so upset with the way i was treated none of us are going back. -------and yes you are right... it is "your day" you should be treated like a princess. It the one day your allowed to be treated and should be treated like a princess.
I ended up driving over 2 hours to a davids bridal in MA. i was very happy with the way i was treated. After all that-the dress i fell in love with was 2 sizes to small and the last one. (im only a size 10)

@Cindy: You're complaining over a $6 alterations charge? You realize you would have paid $3 or $4 just to send it back, right? Why would they send you merchandise before they got theirs back? You realize that that's stealing if you don't send it back, right? which is why they wanted you to send it to them first. Didn't your daughter realize that it was the wrong sash when she tried it on?

@Teal: you probably won't read this, but if we sorted the dress division (not bridal) by size, it would look horrible. It would look jumbled and messy. It makes sense to sort by style. Bridal gowns are sorted by size because they're similar-looking, in that they're all long, and either white or ivory. Also, when actual bridesmaids are looking for a certain style, you realize it would be next to impossible to find it if the dresses were sorted by size?

And DB makes dresses up to size 28 in some styles, most up to size 26. They have a limited selection of prom dresses, and many girls wear bridesmaid dresses as prom dresses and look fantastic.

And maybe your daughter should lose some weight if she got so upset by the way she looked in formal dresses. It's not their fault she's fat.

Are you serious that anyone could be so uneducated and ignorant "maybe your daughter should lose some weight" How old are you ten? Seriously! Just to let you know I am a very sucessful business lady and a size 6 to boot. Making fun of someones short comings only exposes your own. Word of advice no one will ever take you seriously in life or business making comments like that! You had a few interesting and educated points til your last comment. Young lady, " GROW UP!"

That's not making fun of anyone. If they don't like the way they look and are overweight, they should lose weight, not complain about the dresses. If I didn't like the way I looked in formal dresses, you bet I'd get in shape. Complaining about how you look and not doing anything about it is lazy.

I never said it was a shortcoming. But if you don't like the way you look, you should do something about it instead of just sit and complain about it and blame other people for it.

And, eating too much and exercising too little WILL make you overweight.

Yes, they can. It's called treatment.

I am well aware of thyroid problems, as I have no thyroid due to thyroid cancer, and I am getting treatment for it. I am doing something about my condition. I was also a smoker for years, and I quit, and haven't had a cigarette in a long time. The problem is letting your addictions control you, which is apparently what you believe. My addiction to cigarettes did not control me, I controlled it and quit. And yes, if you have thyroid issues and you don't exercise and overeat, you will remain overweight.

And I'm sure you paid thousands of dollars for your couture wedding gown. Some people don't have that luxury, and so they go to a place like David's Bridal where people can afford to buy a wedding gown.

And if your future daughter-in-law wants a couture wedding gown, then no, she shouldn't go to David's Bridal. But if she wants a gown that is affordable, DB welcomes her.

David's Bridal is not now, nor was it ever intended to be, a boutique. It is a department store. It used to be a warehouse with nothing in it but rolling racks and a cash register. I worked there for five years. As a consultant, I saw maybe ten to twenty brides a shift. Sometimes three at a time. They would always come with an entourage, upset because there was no place to lounge about and sip champagne, and have a proper "viewing". On saturdays the number of people I had to cater to tripled. TRIPLED. My bride's information (that sheet they have you fill out when you come in) was crammed in the binder they issue each consultant, and I was always having to deal with co-workers taking stuff out, and not putting it back correctly (if someone worked with a bride of mine when I wasn't there), or not putting it back at all because they felt they needed the sale more than I. Yes, it is a commission based job. I was NOT a commission based consultant. Sometimes you get lucky and you get a salesgirl who really is there for your needs and not your money. I have earned certificates for being that girl. I even sent my brides other resources through the mail if there was something I couldn't do for them in the store. As I said...sometimes you get lucky. It's not an easy job, or a pretty one. I have had brides with no underwear, and bad hygiene, staining merchandise with their monthly...people purposely tearing things hoping to get a 1000 dress for 99...people who step all over the merchandise and get upset with me for telling them that it isn't a "sample" it's the dress they take with them, food in the fitting rooms, bridal gowns worn and returned BRIDAL GOWNS! people yelling at me because a coworker sold them the moon and stars when she didn't even have a rocketship. I understood how special the day is to my customer in spite of all this mess, and I spoiled them as best I could under the circumstances. Working there, you have to be a rollerskating octopus. If you're not, SOMEbody's gonna have something foul to say!

I agree with you I spent 2 hours in David's Bridal with NO HELP for the workers I had to find my own dresses and my dressing room and when i bought the dress I found and love the saleswomen was trying to make me go back in there to try it back on with a bunch of other stuff that I didn't care for.
