Early termination fee
Several months ago I tried for 2 weeks to pay my Dish bill then it got shut off and I tried for 6 days to pay it to no avail. This was during the time that they had a breech in their computer system. So I went to a different company for my telivision service. This morning they charged my debit card 301 dollars for "early termination fee". I tried to call them but all I got was them saying they were entitled to that fee and that I had other ways to pay it. But when I tried to explain that I tried both to pay both online and by phone and never got anyonr to answer the phone and the online payment just kicked back that I could not pay it that way. I am at present stopping the payment through my card company.
Desired outcome: Return of my 301 dollars
Restoration of service
Most rude customer service representative I ever talked to Today about trying to restore my service she seemed as she didn’t want me to restore my service when I asked her what to pay. They originally disconnected my service without warning when their company was recently with a cyber security breach issue. They waited two weeks before telling me my service was disconnected. Most RUDE ignorant woman or CSR I ever spoke to.
Dish television service
I have been a dish network for 5 years or more and have been totally aggravated with the service im receiving. First we fell like we are an employee of this company every time there is a problem we have to unhook this reboot that and when it gets serious they send you a new desktop box to only find out you have to hook it up and install it. We also have found the programs that we downloaded to the hopper not just the free movies but the ones we paid for we loose them and I think this isnt fair at all. We paid for the movies and get told sorry but we dont have any way of retrieving them so you just loose them. And again im not an employee of dish nor do I know of what im doing also and most importantly pay dish every month for a service we have to be a employee to work... There needs to be a class action lawsuit to get this companies attention so they will do better for there customers
Desired outcome: I want these problems to stop, We dont want to work on equipment we pay them for a service.
Troubleshooting is very basic. If you’re saying that unplugging the power cable is too advanced, then you do not need to even have a TV. This is in your agreement, had you read it.
Also in your agreement, you waived your right to sue and for any class actions. Your complaints come down to you not understanding what you voluntarily subscribed to. Maybe take the 3 minutes to read the agreement that is required.
being able to log into my account
Date / Time:
Ever since Dish had a security breach.
I have tried on multiple occasions and multiple days, leaving 2-3 days each time to attempt to sign into my account, to no avail!
I spoke with customer service again today, and each time I'm locked out, they say that they have done everything and need to call back in a couple of days. I have been having this issue for about 3-4 months now. Not knowing exactly what I am supposed to be paying on my account or being able to review my account due to this issue.
If this cannot be corrected soon, I will have no choice but to leave Dish and go to a competitor, due to breach of contract by Dish Tv.
Desired outcome: Would like to be able to have tech support figure out either one of two things:One: Check web page to confirm that it is working as it should, and / or Two: Find out why I have been unable to log into my account since your security breech.
This wouldn’t be a breach in the contract. In order for there to be a breach, you’ll have to specify exactly which part of the contract was breached(not in your own words). You do not have a contractual right to the website and if you read the contract, you’d see that you’re barking up the wrong tree.
meTV
My husband has enjoyed watching Hogan's Heroes for many years on DISH. It is no longer on our channels and it is very upsetting. He has dementia and truly enjoyed laughing with the characters on this program. There is not a lot to laugh about on television anymore and this channel gave him so much joy. I really do hope you intend to find a positive to the negotiations with meTV. It would truly make better days for many.
Thank you.
Desired outcome: I'd appreciate a reponse please.
Extremely rude tech support
My wife less then 10 mins ago just got off with an incredibly rude tech supporter. While my wife was attempting to explain our problem he made several comments that angered us greatly. Without a doubt this ignorant man treated my wife like she was a complete idiot. My wife had to stop him and advise him that he was rude and he would treat her with respect. We called because we needed assistance and he made us feel completely stupid. We were extremely kind to him and did nothing for him to treat us like this. I am outraged.
Desired outcome: This man needs to be retrained and needs to know that us customers give him a job. An apology is also in order.
Customer service
On 05.27.2023 I called to cancel my subscription. I have been with dish for 20 years and have always had bad connections. The programing is always the same and the price is far more than what it is worth. Racheal in customer service was rude, condescending and would not listen to my request and just kept telling me how I should not cancel. It took me 30 mins to finally get her to cancel my order. She would not stop talking so I could speak. I will never go back to dish, who has the worst customer service ever. I will go without a tv before I will go back to them. I advise anyone who has dish to cancel their subscription and move to starlink. Best change I have ever made.
Desired outcome: fix your CS department. speak to Racheal about her rudeness.
Yes they are rude
PPV Fraudlent Charges
I just noticed today (5/29/2023) when I looked at my online bill that there is a charge for a boxing match dated (5/09/2023). There are only two people in this house and neither of us watch boxing nor would pay that much to watch a match (79.99). I called and spoke with a representative as well as use the chat option on mydish.com. Both claim they were unable to reverse the charges because it was a digital sporting event. I repeatedly told them no one purchased this program. Instead they asked if they could assist me with setting up parental control.
This has occured after they had a major breach that shut them down for months. I should not have to pay for this charge. I have been with them for a year and the one movie I bought was less than $10.00. I would greatly appreciate some assistance on this matter.
Desired outcome: The charge of 79.99 be taken off of my bill or refunded (If the bill is paid).
Read your agreement. It was your responsibility to have controls set up previously.
Satellite TV overcharge/inability to get quality English-speaking person
I've been with Dish for several years again and again, have problem of them not making auto-withdrawals appropriately-all kinds of excuses. I personally paid for March ($129.54)/thought all was well. Then I get emails that I owe $300+ which is impossible. I called last week/had April paid; last Sat, got notice on TV; last Mon morn, I got up with no TV at all. The May 26 auto-pay is the only thing I might owe for (depending upon whether payments are in advance or not.
Desired outcome: I would like for Dish to totally clear my account of charges & reconnect service today or they can consider my account cancelled as of the date they disconnected my service.
So disconnected… and any termination fees that may apply would remain. Also, any services rendered and not paid for will still need paid. Lastly, depending on your equipment, you’ll have to ship it back at your expense per your agreement.
Loss of abc channel not resolved
We lost out ABC channel months ago and there has been no credit for that loss for a local network channel that we are supposted to have. I think that Dish should reduce our bill because we cannot get ABC channel. We live in a rural community and are 74 and 83 years old. Our entertainment is our TV and we have not been able to watch shows that we have watched for years. We live in a dead zone with very poor wifi and therefore cannot do streaming services and that add additional cost even if we could use them. We do have netflix but signal is so bad that we cannot always watch anything. Please fix this problem please.
Desired outcome: reduction and credit for every month we have not been able to get the ABC channel.
You already agreed you expect no compensation for any channel, as you do not pay on a per channel basis.
customer service
Im not sure who i spoke to as I honestly could barely understand the guy. I have a HUGE complaint about the fact that I told him I was no longer interested in hearing his speech about saving me tons of money when he offered me a $100 for 3 years plan that only included tv. (i pay that now for phone, tv and internet from a different provider).
The man persisted to call me back from a completly different number (which im going to guess is a personal cellphone number) and told me that I was very rude and unprofessional and cussed me out! This is completely unacceptable.
Sales
I live in a military community. A salesman showed up yesterday to talk to me about DISH. He said I was on his list. I’ve never contacted DISH, been interested in DISH, or understand why DISH would send some to cold call at my home. I called housing because vendors have to check in with them. After he checked in, housing called and I said I didn’t want him to come back.
Everything about this gave me the creeps. My BF stayed on the phone with me until my husband came home from work. Super sketchy and absolutely should not be allowed.
Desired outcome: The 5 W’s, who (the salesman), what, where, when, and why.
Dish didn’t send anyone. They don’t do door to door sales. What you would have experienced is a third party retailer that sets their own business rules and policies. They are not a part of Dish, at all.
Actually, no. He showed a DISH business card to our housing office and repeated to them he was from DISH.
He refused to sign in and was told not to come back to Ft McCoy housing. But thank you for the other part.
Dish does not employ door to door salesman. Those are 3rd party sellers that sell Dish, but are not Dish employees or benefactors. Dish sales are inbound only. They do not even have any brick and mortar stores. The retailers play fast and loose with the language.
Also, as far as Dish ID's, Im guessing it said something like GoDish or Infinity Dish. Thats one of the work arounds.
Final Billing
I cancelled my service on April 2, 2023. I was told that I had 5 months still left on my contract for a change made Aug. 2021 but I had credits on my account so I would not see any additional billing. I was told by the representative helping me that day, that she would make the appropriate notes on my account. I have received a bill for 116.87 for the remainder of the contract and for a box return fee. In speaking with an account specialist today, I was told the person I spoke with was probably new and gave me wrong information. This is poor customer service. I had to disconnect my service due to hardships. This is not a bill that was expected nor told I would receive.
Desired outcome: As a customer, you are told up front when contacting dish that you are on a recorded line. I would like to have this recording reviewed. I would like to have the charges removed and I will pay the return box fee only.
They’ll refer back to the agreement. Which also covers situations like this. Your unwillingness to pay does not affect them either. Eventually, if not collected, it will go to collections and it’s just your score that will be impacted. They’ll write it off, and not even slightly impacted.
Oh yea, to get a copy of the recordings, you’ll need to send them a subpoena. I would strongly consider reading the terms, as you waived your right to sue making getting a subpoena pretty difficult.
Incorrect billing
I received my bill last month, April 28, for a charge on a Pay per view that we DID NOT order, (4/8/23) let alone did not watch. When I called to discuss this with Dish customer service, I wasn't able to speak directly with a Supervisor. They stated that all supervisors were acting as customer service and wouldn't take my call.
As much as the customer service reps apologized, they stated that because it was pay per view, I HAD to pay it. Although they said it didn't matter if we didn't watch it.
They stated that someone possibly made a mistake and accidentally ordered it. If it can be accidentally ordered then there is a problem with their service.
I have been a customer for 18+ years and have NEVER disputed a bill. My normal bill doesn't even cost as much as this PPV cost, so there is NO WAY that it was ordered.
I told them that if we cannot resolve this, I will pull my service and will recommend to all of my family and friends to do the same.
I purposely didn't pay the PPV charge when I sent in my regular payment and I enclosed a note as to why I didn't pay it. Now they are charging me late fees I shouldn't be responsible for.
Desired outcome: I am not going to pay for something I didn't purchase. I'd like to have it and all related late fees taken off of my bill ($60 for the PPV and $10 late fee).
They have a way, multiple ways actually, to prevent accidentally ordering pay per view. Locking the receivers is one, credit balance is another. They are correct as this exact situation has been covered in your agreement for over 20 years, so definitely when you started 18 years ago. The pay per view would be your responsibility, as is the late fee as you’re paying late a valid bill.
Customer service
I have been with Dish since 1998 and had little problems with them until now. I would think that after 25 years with them they would help out a senior citizen to get my dish satellite aligned properly to get a good signal on satellite 129. They tell me that I have to pay an additional $132 a year for any service that I would need. I pay $146.40 a month and with inflation I am having a hard time keeping up as it is. They treat really old customers like dirt. If you want a great deal to join they are probably great but you should not intend to stay with them. Probably best bet is for people to go back and forth between companies since that is where you will be able to get better service and lower prices. Dish goes all out to get new customers while treating the loyal long term customer awful. As a new customer they install everything and AIM THE DISH for free but not if you are a long term customer, that is crazy.
Desired outcome: I will change over to Spectrum or some other company.
So you’re mad because they want you to pay to do work on equipment you own, and admit would be simple?
Dish gift card promotion
DISH promotion is a scam! I received several offers for a DISH $400.00 gift card. The offer paper work did not give any info on how to receive the card in the offer paper work. Signing up for the service isn't going to give you the card. The offer paper work that comes with the gift card says to "Call your dedicated agent now!", "Get in touch with your local DISH Authorized Retailer." That's all the instructions given. When I called the number given to sign up, [protected], I started to give the gift card number and the "dedicated agent" said, "I don't need that." Nothing more was said. A month later, I received an email with the subject declaring, "Your gift card is on it's way". Great, but it doesn't come. It never came. When I called about not receiving the gift card, I was told, it's to late, I missed the dead line to receive it. REALLY! I am so done with DISH! Oh and the man who installed our dish system, didn't even leave us with any paper work on how to use the remote, or channel lineup. Disgusting. I can cancel DISH but must pay $ to do that. Disgusting.
Desired outcome: I want to receive the $400 gift card as promised in the DISH promotion.
Got ripped off and lied to by two men sales and install. Promised 500 to switch from directv. Install was fine no such thing in the system about gift card my mistake for trusting these two from Utah said both were LDS. Although we are not and used to live in Utah and trusted ugh. We live in AZ disabled veteran and senior citizens
Billed after cancellation when they changed their programming
On March 29, 2023 I stopped using Dish service and switched over to Sling TV.
I contacted the company CANCELLING both through chat and email because calling was pointless as I would immediately get sent over to a “wait” line and then eventually be told to call back at a later time. This happened several times over a 30 day period as I continued to try to call in because I was never sure that it was cancelled.
After receiving a bill anyway I started calling back in and FINALLY got a person who cancelled the service by phone on April 26.
She proceeded to tell me that I would be charged X amount because I broke the contract.
I did NOT break the contract. DISH broke the contract with me when they failed to provide the programming that I contracted for.
Just a couple of days before the SuperBowl was to air we were no longer able to receive the channel that it aired on and are no longer able to get channel 11 programming which has all of our local Steeler football games. We were forced to purchase through another source to receive these things. We called in at the time and were told that you would get the channel back but a couple of months later you hadn’t which brought about the reason for cancelling.
I was told by the woman who did the cancellation that a loss of programming was included in the contract but included here is a copy of that contract and as you can see for yourself that is in incorrect.
if you need a copy of the contract I can send that. Nowhere does it state that they can change or eliminate any of my programming.
Desired outcome: I’m am writing all of this because I am receiving bills that I do not owe. Please have them wipe out all present and future charges. Thank you
Here is a copy of the Residential Service Agreement that applies to all customers.
https://www.dish.com/downloads/legal/residential-agreement--English.pdf
Section 4H of the service agreement clearly covers this. They didn’t breach the contract, however as they advised you, you did.
Can't cancel dish
My husband already spent hours on the phone several times trying to cancel our contract with Dish. He was told there would be one more bill to pay and just because he looked online if it was paid he was considered a "returning" customer and had to pay another month of fee. But even after calling about this and being told they would waiver the cancellation fee but he still has to pay for that month we still keep getting bills in our mail.
Desired outcome: Letter of cancellation confirmation. Reimbursement of time?
Dish is a prorated service, so you are confusing something about the situation.
Give me better customer service.
I had a service technician come out to the house because the dish had a problem and the remotes wil not work. I have tried to called them and had to wait 40 minute on the phone. When I finally talked to the lady the call was going in and out. She was not able to help me. I pay extra money to get service to the house.
Send boxes and address to return equipment and adjust the bill accordingly
It took me at least 5 calls and hours of being on hole to finally talk to a representative. When I told them I wanted to cancel they said they would send me boxes to return my equipment. After approximately 2 weeks with no boxes I called back and again waited hours to talk to an agent and again said they would send boxes to return equipment, I still have not received boxes again and they are charging me for an additional month of service. I cancelled my autopay so they can't charge my credit card. I refuse to pay anymore and want to return my equipment which I'm not using. They also say they never received the 1st call to cancel. I thought they record their calls. most frustrating experience ever. This has been ongoing since the end of March. Sorry I didn't note the dates. I am also receiving conflicting statements and even though the online statement was more than it shouldve been I paid it. The paper statement says I still owe for another month. They also charged me late payment charges on the month I didn't use it
