cancellation fee
I moved to a location where I cannot get dish service. I have called, emailed, and spoken to a supervisor since their tech told me I can cancel service and not pay the fee since she could not get her equipment to connect to their satellites. I reported this. Also, my new apartment complex does not allow them to screw holes into the wall without paying $100 fee for damages. Still, they want to charge me for cancellation. I have the texts from their tech saying I CAN cancel because she entered her notes that there is no service in my area. I WILL NEVER USE DISH AGAIN! Their customer service was so poor, and they still want to charge me for cancelling..when I can't get service here! Per the contract, I pay for their service, but I can't get it here so I should not be bound to pay the fee!

Called to request how to lower monthly charges. After an hour on the phone they ended up increased the bill. I called again, same results twice. I wrote two letters and they failed to respond to either. I called again and requested immediate termination. After hours on the phone they finally relented, however, they then charged me 294.50 to terminate. I had already paid them additional service charges after I request ways to reduce the bill. They lied twice. I was forced to terminate do to fraud. These people are horrible to work with. I spent hours on the phone. Now their collections people are calling me twice daily. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM DISH. Their customer service is right up there with Comcast. They lie and fail to respond.
This company is nothing more than a bunch of liars. They charged me twice and overdraft at the bank. They guaranteed me they would pay what they withdrew plus overdraft fees. This was Friday and it is now Thursday and now we are told they can only credit my account. Even with the overdraft fees that was supposed to go to the bank. How is that going to help me! This is after calling them everyday with the response of weeks are processing it now to it takes 5-7 days to see the money to we are going to credit your account. This is nothing more than FRAUD!

Upon agreeing to subscribe with Dish tv, I requested that bills be USPS mailed to me; their representative agreed and all bills were USPS mailed through July of this year. As all bills, I promptly paid upon receipt of Dish bills via USPS mail. In August Dish decided to discontinue mailing my bills by USPS mail; e-mailing my August bill (and subsequently my September and October bills). 25+ e-mails have been exchanged between Dish representatives over this subject with my requests that Dish resume billing me via USPS mail and I would promptly remit payment. Dish has refused and now have given me notice of "service interruption".

pausing over summer, vacation home, early termination fee, contract.
First, they are relentless in trying to make you keep your service, second they added time to my service for pausing during non use. Charging after two and a half years 180.00 for early termination plus return fees for sending back the box. I was considering their service for my home and canceling Comcast, but no longer. These people are impossible to deal with. I tried to cancel last year because of the cost for service for something I only use 12 days a year over the summer months. I have been paying for service 18months and the pause fee for 12 months and they still insist I owe them time on my contract. It is useless to try to talk to someone reasonably, they just keep saying they want you to stay or we will charge you a ridiculous amount of money if you don't. Started Service May 2013, cancelled service October 2015. Acct # [protected] Request no charges for cancelation or I would never consider Dish in the future.
This issue has been resolved, Dish has issued me a partial credit for early termination fee, and box return fee.
satellite
They cancelled me after one week of service for asking why is my tv service out daily and stating all I want is what I am paying for. The customer service reps were terrible and dishonest, I believe call center wasn't in the states, they wouldn't let me talk to anyone with knowledge or can understand what I wanted. So my choice was pay 500.00 early termination fee, or lose 2 year price lock I was promised (49.99 190 channels for 2 years) price would have been over 100 as a new customer, so now I have 50 channels for 50.00 a month don't get premium channels for 3 months nor redzone free for one year. If you have another tv provider I urge you to stay with them instead of this border line hit men for tv
I feel like this company is about bottom dollar at all cost. They lock you in t 2 year contract then don't want you contacting them, they broke their own contract now I am one that has to pay for something I could have gotten with rabbit ears 15 years ago, they are terrible!
unauthorized debit card charges
Dish Network illegally obtained new personal bank information to collect a debt. In November of 2014 I signed up with Dish Network. In December of 2014 I paid my bill online leaving no balance. The very next day which happen to be a Sunday I realized my account with out my authorization was enrolled in Auto pay and charged an additional 5.00 fee. I had just moved into a new house and was preoccupied so even though I didn't authorize this enrollment I decided to not to complain about this issue. Months went by and on May of 2015 I decided to terminate my contract with Dish. I was aware of a termination fee and would pay it off in payments that I could afford. My wife's debit card was compromised that month so I decided to cancel my debit card as well. In June of 2015 I received a letter through mail stating my account with Dish was now in the hands of a debt collection agency. when I called a few the agency a few weeks later they told me they gave the account back to Dish. On August of 2015 my new debit card was charged in the amount of 409 dollars. This dumbfounded me since I NEVER gave dish updated payment information and had no reason to considering my account was now in collections. I called Dish and asked them how they obtained my new debit card information. The only response I received was that they had the right to charge my debit card due to the broken contract and the new debit card was enrolled in auto pay. I perfectly understand the termination fee but what I don't understand is how could I possibly have enrolled my new debit card to pay off a account that was in collections? The gave me a ridiculous answer that somehow after repeatedly processing my old debit card several times somehow the payment went through. They even tried to bribe me into signing up with them again and refunding me half of the 409 dollars which of course I refused to do business again with a fraudulent company. I called my banking institution and after a two month investigation no one wants to be responsible for the violation of my rights, privacy and security of my banking account. USAA, my financial institution, closed the investigation stating that Master Card might of disclosed my new debit card information and they wiped their hands of all accountability. I have on file every bill with Dish and my contract as well. In the contract it states that Dish is only authorized to charge my initial enrolling debit card for any fees yet that is not what was the end result. I will continue to fight for my rights and seek legal action until Dish Network pays for violating my legal rights as a consumer.

I have been dealing with the most horrific runaround I think I have ever heard of. I ordered service and installation. The man left a subwoofer & soundbar here to try out for $375.00. He said I had 30 days to return them if I did not like them. I decided to return the equipment, which then they told me I had to mail back to PLANO TEXAS from California at my expense of $115.00 (was never disclosed). I did send the equipment back and they never gave me the credit for months. I contacted my credit card company to dispute the purchase as DISH had received (verified ) the return. So DISH in retaliation cut off my service and demanded $750.00 to turn back on my TV. This all went on from March 2015 to still dealing with billing issues monthly September 2015 (6 months). THis month they are saying I owe them for a pay for view fight ? $49.99. I was not even home that day. Thier word against mine and they ALWAYS WIN. These are the nastiest most corrupt people I have ever dealt with and want to know how I can get out of the 2 year contract if anyone has any advice.
Awful Company!
Dish Network is the most horrible company I have ever dealt with...even worse than timeshare salesmen. I have, however, had success in some ways...please contact your attorney general and register a complain there and avail yourself of the service they provide. Also contact consumer affairs. Also take them to small claims court. My father is also now pursuing litigation against them because they are charging horrendous fees and they never provided him with service. Just terrible. I finally was able to get a refund from them but ended up keeping the sound bar...should have returned it. They take complaints with the attorney general seriously, fortunately. Also...make sure you get your credit card number changed or they can continue to charge you without your permission.
payment of services not rendered and horrible customer service
In May of 2014 my DVR quit working. I called Dish Network to request a new one, they said they would send another and for me to send back my old one. They never did, I called back numerous times, always told the same thing. "I am so sorry, I understand, we will send another one right away", It is now September 2015 and I still haven't received anything. My 2 year contract is now up, and I called to cancel. They wanted to charge me for sending a box, or for having someone come and get their faulty equipment. I have paid faithfully for services not rendered fulfilling my end of our contract. In trying to find some kind of compensation settlement, they offered a "discount" of $20.00 per month if I did not cancel my "services". Needless to say, I decided against that option. I canceled services and will seek other alternatives for compensation of over a year of paying for services that I did not receive. It seems that no matter how grievously wrong they are in not fulfilling their end of our contract they had no desire at all to right their wrong, every "customer service representative" I spoke with stuck to their script and did not have any true desire to make things right. We have gone this long without TV, Dish Network trained us well, we now no longer require it.
will not cancel with military orders
We are a military family who received orders to move to the other side of the country. I cancelled Dish in 6/15 with a copy of my orders. Was told they would mail a box to return equipment. Did not receive the box. Called and was told just take it to the UPS store they know what to do. That didn't work either. Called again and finally got my box and mailed equipment back. At this point they still have not cancelled my account. Today I called (4th call over 3 months) and was told I owe a pro-rated bill from 8/15, no mention of an early termination fee because I had resolved this earlier. I said "no I cancelled and gave you a copy of my husband's orders in 7/15". They said I rented a movie yesterday (what?). On hold again and she comes back and says "ok we will not charge you the prorated bill from 8/15 but we are charging the early cancellation." I said "no you have my husband's orders and have already told me that was taken care of." On hold again and she comes back and says "we need your marriage license because you are the account holder not your husband." I refused to accept this and kept asking for the supervisor. After going over this with 3 different acct specialist we finally get to one who eventually hangs up on us. My question is...If my husband is not an account holder and when I call the 800 number and it recognizes MY phone number then why are they calling my husbands phone daily? They haven't called ME once. Also I had to cancel a credit card in order for them to not auto-draft anymore. I just want this horrible shady company to cancel our account as promised 3 months ago. Ridiculous. Not once until now did they mention my marriage license was needed.

dishnet refuses to upgrade data plan + incorrect usage tracking
I am currently on the 15GB/day + 15GB/night data plan; the highest plan DishNET offers. I frequently run out of data even with light web browsing. I then have to pay $10/GB for additional data in order to prevent my Internet connection from being throttled to the point of uselessness. As you may know, data caps do nothing to help reduce network congestion. Their sole purpose is to extort extra money from customers.
I recently went to Dish's website and discovered a new 50GB/day + 50GB/night data plan being available in my area. I called them to inquire about the plan and they said that it's a trial and is not yet available in my area, despite it appearing on their website after entering my ZIP code.
I also mentioned an error in the method they use to track data usage. On August 2, I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO - a 4GB file. I performed the download early in the morning (at 6 a.m.) so it wouldn't count against my daytime usage. The next day I went to mydish.com to check my data usage and the off-peak meter was still at 15GB! It should have gone down to ~11GB. Instead, they counted the download against my daytime usage, leaving me with 11GB for the remainder of the month. They investigated and told me that they have never encountered this situation before and that their system is working correctly.
I am considering contacting the FCC to report these crooks. They use the fact that satellite Internet is the "Internet of last resort" in order to abuse their customers.
fraudulent information given at sign up
I wrote the following letter to Dish on May 29th and have had no response. :::: May 29, 2015
Dear Dish Network,
We signed up for Dish internet the last of April. I had a LONG discussion with the lady toward the first part of April before we made the switch. I had called our current provider to see how much of our 15 GB we had been using. I also called ATT to see how much we used on our mobile unit that we only use when we travel. Now, I may get the GB and MB mixed up because those confuse me, but you will understand, I'm sure what I mean.
On our current provider, they said we were using a big percentage of our 15 GB we were paying for. I can't remember the exact amount. We hadn't used that much on our ATT because we hadn't been traveling. When I told your representative what we did on the internet and what they said we used, she insisted that they must be mistaken, that we couldn't be using that much doing what we do.
I know you record your phone calls. I ask that you go back and listen to that phone call. Our complaint is the very first month, we ran out of our allotted GB's and of course powered down to nearly nothing. We used our mobile unit until it was nearly used up to get by on. We were assured our service would be faster - NOT. We were assured we would have plenty of GB's - NOT. We are already over 90% for this month and have nearly 2 weeks left in the cycle. We will be gone most of June so that won't be a good month for comparison for sure.
We are very unhappy with our not faster very limited service. Wish I had not signed a contract with you because I would switch back in a heart beat. I have recommended Dish TV to people but will absolutely warn them against the internet. We were very mislead. Was trying to cut some bills but sure didn't mean to cut our service so bad.
If there is absolutely anything you can do to assist us, that would be great. We are both retired and on limited income so please don't recommend upgrading. We switched to save and was assured we would have plenty of GB's. That was absolutely wrong, and we have to keep a close eye on it. Never had to do that before. Hate it, hate it, hate it!

fraudulent charges made by dish
First off, I have never spoken with people who know less about the job they are doing than those at Dish Network. In addition to being ignorant on how to help their customers; they are crooks. They charge for services and equipment that you do not have and have no way of knowing how ( or make the choice to play dumb) to fix it once you catch them in lies. I absolutely tell everyone I know to stay far away from these scandals unless you want to get burned. I will crusade against this company until my last breath so others do not have to go through the frustrations and fraud recovery that I have.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Please do not deal with dish network they charge your card without authorization and lie about a refund they will put your credit or debit card on auto pay without permission Run far away from these crooks I wish I had
I only installed Dish network a week ago and have had a lot of problems. Was told I would get some regional sports networks but they didn't come in so I called, spent 10 hours + on phone with different technical support people, everyone kept saying I should get these channels, restarting, unplugging and having both my land line and my cell phone batteries die out while I was on one of the multiple holds.. finally I was told that I don't get ANY regional sports network.
Why couldn't the first person tell me that? Finally I spoke to a supervisor and downgraded my package since I only upgraded to get these channels. This was 2 days after it was installed and low and behold I get my bill and it still has the more expensive package.
Oh and I'm being charged 10 bucks a month for programming access fee because the guy didn't hook up my phone line and told me to get a wireless phone sender, which would have cost over $100. I installed the phone lines myself and told dish this, but again, still showed up on my first bill.
There customer service is terrible, but after all this, I am using their on line chat because at least this way I can copy down everything they have been telling me. Every time I call in, it's a different person with different information.
I feel cheated and would return to cable had I not already switched my internet service from cable to DSL already... Guess who is NOT going to continue with their service after 18 months!
I'm super upset because we have been looking forward to watching The Walking Dead all year. We pay good money to have dish and we don't even get our favorite channel? They better get on board, that's one show I don't want to miss and there going to be the ones missing out on customers who have been with them for 11 yrs.
I was on a "pause" for 2 months. Then I turned service back on. When asking to be reconnected, the person who did that automatically added programing I never had to begin with. Adding more monies to my bill. Needless to say I immediately
put on pause once more.
The worst customer service! Your wait time is 3 days! Even the online chat took for ever...hire more people! What a novel idea especially in this economy! No one want to wait forever!
WE HAVE DISH FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AND THE PRICE KEPPS GOING UP
I CALL AND COMPLAIN AND THEY GIVE US A REDUCED RATE THEN IT GOES UP AGAIN, I AM JUST FED UP ARE THEY ALLOWED TO RIP PEOPLE OFF LIKE THIS?
Twice now have had trouble cancelling service. Dish wants to squeeze out a couple more months from the customer on request for termination. After all, it cost them nothing anyway if they can extend service and no one is watching and they can get a few more dollars in turning over to collection. They are absolutely shameful.
OMG the worst experience of my entire Life! what the hell was I thinking when I got myself involved with this crew?
need I say more...if you are considering reconsider and call somebody else!
I have had 2 cable boxes go out on me and had over 200 programs saved on them.I call dish network and they dont even care about the situation..there equipment is either old or just junk.they said they would send me the third box and i would have to pay for the overnight shipping..thats how they treat there customers
Dish Network gave us new equipment that cost $300. However, in less than 3 months it was out dated. Then they charged us again -- another $200 -- for equipment that didn't work half the time.
I can't see why we let these companies get away with that and they can charge us interest on our bill. But we can't get a refund or credit for faulty equipment.
performance
I switched to Dish TV in March. I am very pleased with all the options and features. I would only recommend Dish for one TV outlet. The DVR for the 2nd TV is called Joey. It does not have all the features as that on the main DVR. In particular it will not save favorite channels. You have to scroll through 400 channels to get access to the 10 sports and news channels I like. Dish is aware of the problem but has no clue how to fix the problem.
contract
I was told by a DishNetwork employee over the phone that if I signed a verbal agreement with them for two years my bill would stay the same. I asked several times to clarify. They assured me. I recieved my bill after a year of service, and paying my bill on time and it had increased $30. When I called I spoke to Chris ID# 7DF and president Lilly ID#5SY there was nothing they could do that it was lack of training. I asked if I could just cancel and go with someone else, they said yes it would be $240 plus my bill of $30 more. I have not changed my contract and I feel if they are not going to honor the first half of the price staying the same, I should not have to stay a customer of them.
You cannot sign a verbal contract. That said, all Dish contracts for new connects are for 24 months. The price reduction is only for 12 months, and is not based on an actual payment amount, but a deduction off the bill. Your 12 month credit expired, and now you are expected to pay the full price, which would have been in the physical contract you signed, which can be located at mydish.com/legal. It is in bold letters, towards the top, with stars around it, underlined, stating all prices are subject to change, including within a term commitment. Also, it is required to initial that you understand the contract is for 24 months, but the bill reduction is for 12 months. This is a user error, not company error. They can only go off what facts and evidence they have present, and unless you have an authorized recording of the agent telling you that your bill will be for 24 months, you do not have a case.
falsely reporting information to credit bureaus
After moving Nov 28th and closing dish account early Dec 2013, a notice was received of restricted/disconnected services and amount due in Feb of 2014. After contacting dish and verifying the move the amount due was cleared up and account was credited. Boxes were to be sent with return shipping paid for by dish for equipment return. While Dish told my daughter they would allow time since I was still recovering from major medical issues and my belongings where in storage. After contacting dish again at the end of March to request return boxes Dish then stated the equipment was outdated and did not need returned after all. Several months later a recovery service claimed I owed dish $197. for the equipment and reported this false information was sent to the credit bureaus where it reflects a derogatory mark on my report. After speaking with Dish they agreed to credit my account clearing my balance and sent return boxes agreeing to have this information removed from my report entirely as it was inaccurate because the Dish representative did in fact state the equipment was outdated and did not need to be returned. I also contact the collection company to dispute this information and request it be removed. At some point Dish updated the amount still due as $15. not removing it and still not correctly reporting I owe them NOTHING. Now after finding this information still attached to my credit file I contacted them again where they again agreed to clear the balance but now claim the information was accurate and they will not remove it.

bundle scam - huge price difference
saw an advertisement for an $89 a month bundle with Dish network, internet & phone service, called sales, got an appt set-up for my new home, I asked about taxes at the end of our "sales" conversation, was told it would be $101 or $103 can't remember the exact, had problems from the get go with installation coordination, the Tv was installed okay, it took numerous calls and there bad communication and lack of to get the Internet & phone set-up i went a week or more without either, until it was finally resolved, then I find out the phone didn't really work, I could not call out and everyone I call is long distance, they told me I was to be charged 10.00 month for that feature and for like 700, and it's not unlimited, it took numerous "more phone calls: and i insisted they credit me the difference of $10.00, MY BIG complaint is what a scam their business practices are, they quote you one thing and now I am Paying between 24-38 dollars more a month than i was quoted of the $101 a month from their sales dept, and I come to find out after 12 months they can raise the rates, they don't tell you that, it a 2 year contract, it is mis-leading, and i think maybe illegal. i will be looking into it and my alternatives, we had just dish Tv for more than 12 years in califonia and never had this problem, they have horrible customer service and are generlly down right rude, their problems start at the top, DO NOT BUNDLE with Dish Network.
slow internet speed
I started dish internet november, 2014 the service was ok then things went downhill, during the evening hours from about 5pm lasting till around 11:30pm or so i was getting very slow speeds 1-2 mb. Eventually the problem got bad to where the speeds went so slow, my computer showed no internet. I had 5 lights on my modem, after a lot of phone calls, them telling me everything looked fine. But every day same speed issues. Up to january they came out to my house suggested it might be my computer. A tech did put in his notes that my house has bad ground & he was getting a volt 1/2 of elec on my internet cable. But never checked my tv cable. They also told me my tv & internet where sharing the same ground on the house. My hopper/joey have never had any issues since i moved here in october 2014 i was told they wanted to work with me directly & to please not call dish anymore & report anything that dish was charging them for not fixing the issues on past visits they did unhook the internet ground. I was even asked to use there website for speed tests. That the website i was using dish said it had issues. I have used there speed test site & i have a log verifying my slow speeds. Before i lose my connection for most of jan 2015. Since a tech put in his notes my ground is bad dish is no longer willing to help me with anything internet related. Even asking to get a power cord for my internet. I had to beg the person on the phone for a new power cord. I am an adult & a paying customer since march of 2014. I have never been treated so rude over the internet issues. But if i have a bad ground why does the problem only happen at night. And not all the time if the ground is bad. Why doesnt my tv act of as well. I want to walk away from this nightmare but i am in a contract for 2 years.
