Duke Energy customer service

06/11/18
52372-16406
6124 26th Ave North
St Pete Florida 33710

On 06/11/18 around 8am I contacted the customer service and advised that we had a frayed wire behind our house. After noticing on my home cameras that the tech was at my home I waited to speak with someone. During the afternoon I contacted the customer service number and spoke with someone who advised me that the tech had come and a new ticket was placed. I asked for a time line and what needed to be done. The person advised that someone would be contacting me back with that information. Around 5pm on 06/11/18 I contacted the customer service line again and spoke with yet another person who advised me that it was temporarily fixed and someone would be contacting me within 24 hours to discuss the repairs that need to be made. When I arrived home I looked to see what was done and it appears that no work has been done to temporarily fix the line that is fraying. I contacted the customer service line on 06/12/18 at around 8am and was informed again that the line has temporarily been fixed. I let them know that it has not been touched. this customer service person advised that the tech did repair it but would need further work and a new ticket was put in. I argued with her because no work has been done on the line. I even took a picture on 06/11/18 after 5pm to prove no work has been done on the line and was willing to send it to them. She advised they don't do that. I asked to speak with a Supervisor. After being on hold for about 7 to 10 minutes another woman came on the line and told me that work had not been done and it would take 30 days to complete. I am now very concerned that I was lied to twice but she didn't appear to be to concerned about that. I argued with her and she refused to send me to legal as well as her supervisor. She refused to help me. Customer service at this point is useless for this issue. I advised her I wanted to speak with legal and she advised me to have my attorney contact them. I am a US citizen and I am able to represent myself in a legal matter which I have elected to do so. At that point I disconnected the call and I am now turning to your department to find out 2 things. 1. Due to this line being over my property it is putting my property at risk for damage if not complete destruction as well as other around us. I am requesting a representative contact me regarding the status of an expectable timeline of when the repairs will be completed. 2. The fact that 2 customer service employees lied to me seems to not have any effect on anyone is beyond me. I am requesting to have someone contact me regarding where they received that information or were they both just making it up? If the tech advised that he did and he lied is also a big problem. This issue is putting my property and me at risk. The liability that this is putting your company in is very high.

Duke Energy service

It's getting really old that we keep losing power, in the past month we have lost power at least 3 times (for hours at a time!) We pay these high [censored] bills they send because they say need to upgrade this and that, from what I've seen service just keeps getting worse and bills get higher, tired of the damn Monopoly, sick and tired of Duke energy, it's a Saturday I can't cook my daughter nothing to eat and my foods starting to warm up in the refrigerator, who's gonna pay for all my food when it goes bad?!?!?!, No bad weather! No hurricane ! Not even rain! Really need to get it together or turn the company over to to someone who gives a damn about the customers and don't Rob them!

Duke Energy vine removable form transformer.

I have been a Duke Energy customer for over 40 years. Never been late with a payment. Check and see. We have vines that grow up around the transformer that is for my house every year. We called last year a number of times. Tree service can not remove or so they told me. Finally the vines tripped the breaker on the transformer. We did not power for 4 hours. Look it up. I have called a number of times this year. There was a Duke power bucket truck across the street getting a line off a neighbors metal building. I asked if he could remove the vines from our transformer. He said he had to have a work order. He was within 100 feet of the transformer. That was several weeks ago. Could he not have called and got a work order since he was right here. They must be union. Would not want to do anything that makes sense. This goes on every year. They never remove the vines low enough to keep them from growing back the next year. Just remove enough to get below the transformer. Job security i guess. If i had a ladder long enough i would do it myself. Vines come in about 15 feet above the ground off of some bushes. Power pole looks like a tree until you get near the top. I think it is a shame we go through this every year with the same results. When the power goes off they will come and half way fix the problem. We will be without power for 4 to 6 hours. I think you could do a better job than this. It is not like i can go to another power company. Just another example of why the U.S. is going down the tubes. No monopoly needs to do a good job. What can you do about it. SAD state of the U.S.

Duke Energy electricity

Our lights were disconnected, we paid our bill immediately yet we still do not have power. Can anyone explain this to me? How can you not give a time for returning power but can give a time for disconnection? Not currently satisfied at all. When calling to verify my affairs the operator was very rude. I have small children and these days are extremely hot. I am at fault for not making my bill on time, totally taking credit for my fault now would someone please turn our power back on? We've paid our bill what more do you want? Blood in writting? This is ridiculous.

Duke Energy electric

Wow! Where do I start? We've been Duke Energy customers for as long as I can remember. If we had a choice, we wouldn't be Duke Energy customers. Soon, we will be moving out of Duke's "service" area and we are rejoicing!
First, they encourage paperless billing, but charge a $1.50 service fee to pay online or over the phone. I pay a lot of bills! Most companies give you an incentive for online payments because you are doing them a favor. Not Duke. They charge you to do them a favor!
Next, there was the ONE TIME we missed a payment in over a decade. We were on vacation out west. They boy who was watching our dog called to say we had no electricity. Again, WE NEVER MISSED ON ON-TIME PAYMENT! Our credit score is around 800. Imagine our surprise and disgust when we learned our electricity was off while we were on the other side of the country. I had visions of two freezers full of meet decaying in the heat. Not a good way to treat loyal customers, Duke! Again, I had no recourse because citizens of Carmel have no choice.
Last, there is the little issue of my medically-fragile son. Duke told us they were going to put a device on our meter that would regulate our electricity use. We applied to be exempt from such "Big Brother" manipulative customer abuse because we must have around-the-clock electricity for my son's necessary (imperative) electrical medical devices. Once again, we were shocked and disgusted when we discovered Duke had installed their regulating device in spite of their assurance that we were given an exemption. Was this intentional deception or did someone make a mistake that could cost a customer quite dearly? Either way...
If customers had a choice, I believe Duke Energy would be out of business. As soon as our Carmel house sells, we will gladly say GOOD BYE to Duke Energy. Thankfully, we've moved to an area serviced by a cooperative owned by the citizens!

Duke Energy security deposit

I have bee a customer of Duke Power since 1984. My mom got very sick for the last 2 months and unfortunately, I forgot to pay my bill and my service was interrupted. Immediately I called and paid the bill over the phone so in about 1 hour I was back on.

Well I didn't think anything else about the bill and when I received my new bill it had that my bill was 300 more dollars. I called in to discuss the problem and they say that the extra $200 was a deposit. I paid a deposit when I move in my house. I wanted to speak to a supervisor to discuss the problem but they said that I will have to wait to speak to a supervisor that will call me back in 1-4 hours. I explained to the CS that I'm in the midst of making funeral arrangements for my mother. She showed no compassion or anything and said that I need to hang up the phone.

Duke Energy home connections

The person who "helped" me promised me a $100 gift card to pay for installation fees for my internet. I never got the gift card and when I called them just a couple weeks later, they said it was nothing they could do. I was lied to about something just so they could sign me up for their plan. They are very unprofessional, and I will never work with them again. I will also tell people how horrible they are for lying to customers. Such a horrible business.

When I signed up with Duke I was promised a 20% discount on PODS. I signed up for PODS, who said they never heard of this discount and needed the discount code. I never got the discount coupon. I called several times and was told by two different people that they had emailed it to me. I spoke with a supervisor who said that it takes 24 to 48 hours to go through. I did get a confirmation email, but with no coupons. So, they cost me $500 with their lies. All they want to do is sell things, nothing to do with Duke Energy. Just a scam disguised as a "verification" of service.

Duke Energy electric service account #[protected]

At the end of April, I had a contract to sell my house at 1308 Cokesbury Rd in Greenwood, SC. The previous tenant had the power cut off. The buyers' FHA inspector said the power lines coming to the house were too low, so Duke was called. The said the weatherhead had to be moved to above the roof from under the eave. Therefore I had to hire an electrician to do the work and heneeded the power on. The power was on for only a couple days, as Duke said to be sure the power was off when they replaced the lines. I received a bill saying I used 933 KW of power, so of course I called and explained that is impossible. The billing people said the meters are never wrong so I refused to pay the bill.

I talked to one supervisor (her name is probably in the record) who agreed that my explanation made sense and I agreed to pay the $12 reconnection fee plus one day's worth of power, and I did. She obviously couldn't convince the billing department as I got a letter from a collection agency.

Also, Duke took two weeks to get the work done (work order [protected]) which was holding up our closing, so I called and talked to an engineer why the delay.
He apologized and said there was some confusion and the work order was canceled two or three times. I'm not complaining about this; he also said the workers could have simply pulled the wires taut. If they had done this, I wouldn't have had to hire an electrician, turn on the power, and delay the closing for two weeks. If anything, Duke should pay me money. I don't know if the engineer documented our conversation.in summary, I can now understand why the Duke stock has lost over
$10 in value since November; I am a stockholder.

Duke Energy residential power outage in charlotte

Our power was knocked out on 5/18 at 3:37 pm, I called and reported it at 3:38 pm.
There was no crew on site until after 6:00 pm at approximately 6:35 and had a second crew arrive at 7:15 pm
It is 7 hours after reporting and still no power and everything in the refrigerator will have to be discarded. It is extremely frustrating that it takes almost 3.5 hours to get a damn crew on site to start repairs while we basically have to throw money away due to your slow response. It is bad enough you have a monopoly on the city's electricity supply but to provide such horrible service at our expense just makes things much worse. I just wanted to express my extreme displeasure with the fact we have to deal with duke energy at all. I know you will offer no credit for our loss as you are blood sucking [censored] to the extreme and from my 30 years dealing with duke I know you just do not give a crap about your customers, only $

Duke Energy deferred payment arrangements

On Feb. 17 2018 my father passed away. My power bill was due then but I honestly forgot to pay it. I had numerous things going on in my life during that time and it was an honest mistake.in March I had 2 bills due so that's why I made payment arrangements. I have been paying $153 about every 3.5 weeks since March. My last payment is due today before 5pm. I got a letter on Weds saying I have to pay $312 by 5pm to avoid disconnection. There is no way I can pay it. I'm not asking for sympathy or hand outs. That is something I don't do. I help others. I have small children in my home and my mom is currently in the hospital on breathing machines and oxygen. If she comes home to no power she will die. Duke energy claims to care so much about their customers and claims to help people with their bills. Lol. That's a joke. They only care about those fat pay checks!

Duke Energy duke energy

My power went off 05/12/18 at about 15:00 and i called at 15:21 and set it up that i would be call at [protected]. Received update that estimated time would be 18:45, then another update estimated 22:00. My neighbor came over who had just return home to see if my power was out, yes it is, she was told estimated time 01:45 but no promise. The mean time i am walking around the neighborhood and from what what i could see was only two buildings, the third building affected was vacant, it's my landlords mothers home is is deceased. Get another update now it would be 4:00 and the strange thing is we have yet to see a duke energy truck working on anything. It's only 5 units affected according to the voicemail from duke energy, and this is where my problem is, it wasn't even the whole complex. Now the update is 10:00. Now the voicemail is saying someone has been dispatched, which i felt was false. A duke energy truck woke me up about 8:15 sunday morning and i was piss beyond. Rather than go out and talk with the workman, i took a shower because i was leaving. Went down and ask about estimated time power would be on and the gentleman immediately came down face to face and told me they were hopping the transformer wasn't bad, but it is. He will have to go back and get one and would be another 2-3 hours. I informed him i didn't understand how it could take from 15:00 saturday afternoon until form to find out the problem when it's only 5 units affected, he said what, he very politely said sir i just got a call this morning and came right out. I informed him my belief was that was the first time someone had been dispatched that no one had been dispatched the whole time. Not knowing if power would be back on like he said, i threw some food that was completely unthawed in the dumpster depending on the date and then i left.

Notice i had miss a call from duke energy and power was back on around 11 or so but i was out of town not returning until monday evening. I did called and express to an duke energy employee that i felt we had been ignored because of the community we lived in, we are not middle class and we're people of color. Naturally she said that wasn't the case which i expected, and i had to let her know, i'am no fool, i know how things work. I did apologize to her because it wasn't her fault and she did accept it and i knew she would. I did let her know i had food that had to be thrown out and she gave me a number to call concerning that which i did and they issued me a claim #[protected] and talk with a very nice lady there.

Now here comes the most important part, i got the answer i was waiting for. Called in and tale with a jamal and he got a supervisor (vangie) on the phone and i went through the whole spill with her. Vangie ask me to hold and she would be going to talk with the dispatch department to see what happen to give her a few minutes. Vangie comes back and tells me, mr. Tapp, they could could give her an answer. I informed her they couldn't unless they were going to tell a lie. I ask who i could call and she said i could write to duke energy consumer service at 9700 david taylor dr. Charlotte n.C. 28262. Now in closing, my thought on this you saw us as nothing mexicans and [censored] who cares, just saying.

Duke Energy getting lines laid and power on with my new house

My address is 1350 Fair field rd and the SC county sent the inspection approval to them almost one month ago. We waited 2 weeks after the certificate was sent to them and no one had come out. we finally called them to find out what was going on. If we had not called them nothing would have gotten done. Why didn't they call us? Why did they wait for us to call them to do anything. Now they are saying it is going to be at next Friday, 5/18 before the lines will be laid and another 3 days, 5/25 before the meter and power is cut on. We have had to move the closing out due to this. Why are we being pushed to the back? Cust service said there was nothing they could do. Why does Duke power not care about there customer happiness? I think that they know we can't go any where else so they don't care.

Duke Energy electric bill/meter

My electric bill is very expensive for 1 month and it's just me in the home and I am gone 10 +hours a day. I want some one to come check my meter because the bill for one month is unacceptable. My bill is rated based off the tenant prior to me living at the residence. This is my very first bill I am bringing this to duke energy attention right away.

Duke Energy energy protection department

Mary from Energy Protection Department repeatedly called me a lair about instances at our property. They told us service would corrected in 7-10 business days. It is day 12 and they are still not assisting us in getting it resolved. They neglected to change service names, pulled the mater, say we stole the meter and won't help fix the issue. They have had me send them the deed just to prove that I own the property because she "didn't see my name on line". They stated that the technicians don't have schedules and she wouldn't let me speak to a manager. Duke has a monopoly on the electric and they are not willing to help customers clear up any issues. Billing and set up was very helpful but this department has definitely devalued their customers. She gave us one story about a technician having a ticket, then Rayshawn told me that there was an investigation and no ticket was available. Someone is lying. They are trying to take advantage of two young kids and by not providing them with the electric, the kids will risk having to move out of their house.

Incidentally they disconnect and reconnect my service every two weeks siding that my bill is late or they haven't received it and then I paid in full and I wait between 24 and 72 hours each time for it to be reconnected I feel this is a tactic in order for them to gain more payments and late fees I've paid $60 each time to have it reconnected immediately that day and I feel these are fraudulent and misappropriated and now I've paid the reconnection fee this week and then they decided to tell me that they were not going to connect it do to the energy benefit and stuff that I quote on quote committed I am currently looking up the numbers to the local news stations at Orlando Winter Park and the surrounding areas and even the major news channels because this needs to be reported and I need something someone to help me I am a suffering woman and I paid my bills and I don't deserve this and neither does any other American

Duke Energy deposit

We have lived at our home over 2 years and today in my new bill we were charged a $270 deposit! This is twice what our monthly bill usually runs! I call and the only reason she can give is unsatisfactory payment history so if they dont like the way you pay they can charge a deposit with no warning 😡😡😡😡 mybuusbanf and I have called numerous times and have just been told it's their policy although at our previous home of 15 years we paid the same way and was never charged a deposit after we had service!

Duke Energy is the worst company someone can have service with. My father passed away on Feb. 17. I forgot to call my payment because of everything going on. Yes it was my mistake but it was a honest. So in March I had 2 bills due. I had to do a deferred payment arrangement because of this. So I've been paying $153 about every 3.5 weeks since March. Today is when the last payment is due. I was told it would be $153. I got a letter Weds telling me I had to pay $312 by 5pm today or my power will be disconnected. I guess it will be turned off because I don't have $312. My mom is in the hospital and I take care of 5 children but tgey have no sympathy for anyone. They just want $. I think they make up the rules as they go. I really wish there was another power company in my area. If I didn't have kids in my home I'd use a generator just so I didn't have to pay them. I hope you got your issue resolved.

Duke Energy killer herbicide

Some time ago a small portion of my property was sprayed with a herbicide that killed everything, including a large mature Oak. Since that time nothing has grown in the area. Last fall I subsequently purchased four large Pampas Grass plants in an attempt to 're-green' the area. They all died. And still nothing grows in the area. Everything is brown and dead. I've posted signs prohibiting herbicides in the future, but this does not help now. It is a very small plot, roughly 50x25 feet in area. It is located at the entrance to my home and is VERY unsightly. There is no hope for my large Oak tree

It is requested that Duke Energy treat and re-plant the area and compensate me for the Pampas Grass and Oak. Please let me know of any procedure necessary to implement a satisfactory solution to this problem.

Duke Energy power outage

I contacted customer service to report an outage at 6:38 p.m. i was at that point informed that power would be restored by 9 p.m. At 8:50 p.m. the automated service messaged me to only inform me that it should be restored by 11 p.m. this is a prime example of sub par customer service. Looking at the increase in monthly rates this year it is completely unacceptable. If this company plans on keeping there hands on every customers wallet your response to a minor power outage should be immediate not 5 hours of darkess for paying customers shame on duke for raising prices and having pathetic response time to outages
