eHarmony Unauthorized credit charge "auto renewal" I didn't agree to

I have reached out to eHarmony on over 5 occasions regarding their claim I agreed to an autorenewal. Feb. 2022, I was matched with several individuals. Around end of May/ early June 2022 I stopped logging into eHarmony app. due to being matched with someone I am now in a relationship with. My 6 month subscription was due to expire, which I was ok with.

I did not receive any notifications/emails from eHarmony from early June 2022 through Mid January 2023. eHarmony reached out because the credit card they tried to auto renew bounced back. At that time, I explained that I never agreed to an autorenewal, nor was I renewing my subscription. Each attempt to resolve the issue was received with general scripted response. I tried to speak with someone on the phone, however the number for customer service is never answered.

After 5 attempts of explaining this to them, I gave up. I received an email from a collection agency in attempts to collect on the bad debt with eHarmony. I explained to the collections company and provided all emails documenting my attempt to resolve the issue, to no avail. The collection agency didn't even respond to my dispute of charges.

I decided to look up the likelihood of others experiencing the same. To my surprise, there are MANY complaints of the same.

Desired outcome: I would like any and all claims of "bad debt" from eHarmony removed, to include accurate information conveyed to the collection agency.

eHarmony Being charged a hidden fee

I was given an option of trying E Harmony for a month for half price 17.99 I thought I will try this for a month. The next day my credit card was charged 441.75. I instantly emailed I wanted this cancelled and was told I was one of the States they did not refund? This is not right I cannot afford 441.75 nor would I ever agree to that it is a hidden charge. I am asking for a refund. If your business is good, you don't have to trick people to sign up they will and spread good things about your company. But hidden fees and charges does nothing but send bad images and reviews. Please try to be on the up and up and less turn this bad situation into a good one so I can send you good reviews. Thank you for your time. Please don't charge me!

Desired outcome: Refund

eHarmony No refund received

On March 31,2023 around 11:45pm I had a free membership with Eharmony and saw they were offering a discount on their paid membership where you can send and read other members messages ; free membership you cannot do this. The discounted price was about $12.15 per month instead of an outrageous $[protected]@ month. I filled out my debit card information and when I ordered the membership it said I was billed $40.39 on debit card and would be billed $40.39 a month after 3 months, total price is over $160. Here I’m thinking it’s $12.15 a month and I see this. I frantically searched the site to cancel and couldn’t find anything; no customer service phone number to be found on the site or even googled it. Went back on their site and found customer service chat; he said they couldn’t refund the money even though this is literally 15 minutes after I signed up to a Payment I never agreed to. Eharmony emailed me several times after I detailed everything, after 5 emails from eharmony refusing to refund my money, I am going to my debit card provider for a Dispute.

Desired outcome: Full Refund with complete Cancellation

eHarmony dating service

eHarmony Unwanted subscription

When I decided to cancel my subscription I didn’t find an option from the app, so I canceled my PayPal subscription successfully.

I never got a reminder from them about a renewal and now they are charging me $800 of a 1 year renewal that I didn’t ask. It is unacceptable that they charge you without any warning. I did cancel my subscription in PayPal and that says that I didn’t want their services anymore.

Every application I have that is based in subscriptions sends an email before the renewal to give the opportunity to decide if you still want the service or not.

On top of that I never bought a year as I find it too expensive for the lousy service.

Desired outcome: Cancel the invoice and not affect my credit report

eHarmony Online Dating

THE SERIOUS AND DAMAGING FAILURE TO DISCLOSE. UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES: I have sent the following to eHarmony, yet have received a non-response, response. It is most unfortunate and extremely problematic that eHarmony purposefully does not reveal whether the Matches on their website are PREMIUM USERS (PU) or BASIS USERS (BU).

In effect, eHarmony uses its PU, like me as BAIT, to get their non-paying BU to join/pay hundreds of dollars if they wish to continue communication with a PU like me.

This serious lack of disclosure builds false expectations in a PU-when a communication from a BU start then abruptly stops unless the BU pays.

This unethical business practice builds false hope and expectations on the part of PU. It undermines self-confidence and creates feelings of hurt and rejection in PU, who after having the courage to reach out to a Match when that Match vanishes. This type of interaction can also reinforce feelings of low self-esteem and suicidal tendencies.

Desired outcome: DEMAND THAT EHARMONY DISCLOSE WHETHER THE MATCHES THEY SEND ARE PREMIUM MEMBERS OR BASIS USERS.

eHarmony eharmony

Eharmony can not provide the service they promised because they have none available. 0 -1

They fail to tell you that all the matches they tease you with before you sign up are not available members.

I asked them to cancel my subscription effective immediately. They told me I should change my age setting to 10 years older or younger and lower my expectations.

This is what they say

"If you wish to receive more matches, we suggest keeping an open mind and going slightly beyond your comfort level to maximize your potential for receiving matches. Once new members join who fit within your preferences, they are then immediately available for review in your Matches list".

They can't deliver on their promise. Don't bother signing up

Desired outcome: cancel any remaining payment

Yes, I was also told to lower my standards. Lol. My standards were basically plus or minus 5 years of my age, live within 25 km, and not be religious.

I live in a city of 2.5 million, where over half (according to stats) report no religion. EHarmony came up with 5 people, 3 of whom were lonely early-retirement type guys looking for someone who had all the time in the world for travel and little ski weekend getaways. I'm still working and will be for some time, and can't drop everything to go traveling all the time. The other two had enormous beer bellies while I am fit and active. I'm not that desperate for company.

Pretty sure there are more than 5 non-religious single working guys in my city. I just don't think any of them were stupid enough (like me) to sign up for EHarmony.

eHarmony Unauthorized Bank Charges

Eharmony falsely advertised a sale rate for subscription however the charges out of my bank are absolutely absurd! They advertised $14.99 for a month sale but charged me $388 for a year!

I sent an email stating the issue they still will not refund. I have contacted the CEO he states he no longer works there ( hmm)

I want that refund and will not stop!

Desired outcome: REFUND OF $388

eHarmony Customer service

I Asked eharmony to cancel my renewal, they did not do so. Then they tried to charge me for a renewal. Then I contacted them and said i had asked them to cancel. They contacted me via email a number of other times. I asked them to put me through to their complaints a couple of times and they did not do so. Then they passed me to a debt collector without further contact.

Desired outcome: Stop asking for the money

eHarmony Full refund for the 6 months subscription.

I have signed up on the 29th June 2022 for the subscription for 6 months. Since then I was having issues with the app. I could not use it throughout the day as the app was not loading and some errors where appearing on the screen. I have contacted their customer service via email on the 12th of July 2022 explaining the issue, I have response from them on the 15th of July with advise to remove the app, install it again. It did not resolve the problem. I have contacted them again with screenshots as the evidence on the 18th of August 2022, the next day I received email saying I have to update the app as they launched some new product. I have done it, still the issue was not resolved as after couple of days the problem was the same. I replied to them on the 30th of August 2022 again with screenshots. I have updated my password as I could not log in at all. It seems like my account was locked. I have received email from Asmat, which I could never open as it was sent as a link to my email. Again I tried contacting them on the 5th of October, requesting full refund for the app which I am unable to use. The same day their response was that I am not eligible for the full refund as I have signed up for the subscription for 6 months. They have provided me with the temporary password, which I could not use neither on my mobile or laptop. Since then I was searching for advise with Citizen Advice Consumer and they advised me to go through complaint process which does not work as I cannot open eHarmony website at all.

eHarmony insufficient service

I joined with the understanding that I would be billed over the time I subscribed for. After first payment was made, I was billed for remaining balance up front. I was not happy with their service and decided to cancel my subscription. My profile that I setup was for women in a 50-mile radius, there were sending me profiles from out of state and oversees. There were not enough results for the women I put in my profile, so that's why I wanted to cancel my service. I sent them many emails with no results in cancelling the service, now they sent me to a collection agency for the remaining balance of $526.99, I refuse to pay for a service that does not properly provide what they advertised.

Desired outcome: I want them to cancel the debt collection of $526.99

eHarmony No photos on profile

I am very disappointed in the way eharmony allows their members to post a profile but doesn't insist they include a recent picture of themselves before they can become active.

I joined eharmony for a year just a few weeks ago thinking that even if it does cost more to join, I would get more potential matches with pictures... But to every 1-2 matches that have a picture of themselves... There are 6-7 that don't.

I know this company wants to make money... But come on... You are doing a disservice to your customers... I should have to ask to se what they look like!

Teri

Desired outcome: Make recent photos of each person mandatory before they can become an active client!

eHarmony No visitors / messages / responses to my messages since joining

I signed up on Oct 3, 2022.

I set my Profile Visibility to off while building my profile.

I turned my visibility on a few days after Oct 3 (and checked many times that Profile Visibility, Visitors and 'Online right now' are all on).

I've had no visitors at all to date (Oct 27), no messages, no smiles and my messages to three others have not been read or responded to.

By comparison, I have daily smiles and responses on two other dating platforms.

I suspect that my profile is still hidden, despite my making it visible.

I've sent messages daily to the support email since Monday, Oct 24th. Their automated response email indicates a maximum 48 hour response time.

I've searched online for ways to contact eHarmony, called every number I found but get busy/disconnected signals. I tried to access a chat page but it cycles without finding any agents.

It's like everyone left the eHarmony office without saying anything. I see daily activity on profiles I visit, so customers are obviously using the site.

Desired outcome: Could someone please review my profile and confirm that other users can see it.

eHarmony Subscriptions

Let it be known that when you pay for a subscription, that you have to look very closely where they bury the CHECK that the subscription will Auto Renew.

eharmony has been around for 30+ years, but try to find a way to contact them by phone. They like many other sites think that you can conduct all your business, get help and resolve issues on-line. NOT!

I resorted in cancelling my credit card so that when the current subscription ends, they will be OUT OF LUCK trying to collect payment.

All these dating sites are scams. Ladies never reply to messages sent.

They are like looking through the old 'Sears Catalog' when you were a child. Look but never get anythign.

They pray on the sympathy an desire of men to find a true friend that will hopefully lead to a long-term relationship or marrage.

Sorry, but I just call it like it is.

eHarmony Tricked into 2-year contract without my agreement

They sent email two days after registration. They say if you disagree with the contract send us email within 3 days.

Please don't even sign up to this scam company.

They made the cancellation difficult for customer and there was no button on their website to cancel. There are several complaints against eharmony check also Google reviews.

"Notably, as of July 1, 2022, businesses offering subscriptions must provide a cancellation button on their websites. There are specific requirements including: The button must be legibly labeled a phrase like “Cancel contract here.”"

If a company won't stop charging your account after you've tried to cancel a subscription, file a dispute (also called a “chargeback”) with your credit or debit card. Online: Log onto your credit or debit card online account and go through the dispute process. Dishonest businesses make it tough to cancel, and will keep charging you — even if you don’t want the product or subscription anymore.

About eHarmony

Screenshot eHarmony
eHarmony is a popular online dating platform that has been connecting singles for over two decades. The platform was founded in 2000 by Dr. Neil Clark Warren, a clinical psychologist who believed that compatibility was the key to a successful relationship. Since then, eHarmony has become one of the most trusted and respected dating sites in the world, with millions of users in over 200 countries.

One of the things that sets eHarmony apart from other dating sites is its unique matching system. Instead of simply allowing users to browse through profiles and message each other, eHarmony uses a proprietary algorithm to match users based on a variety of factors, including personality traits, values, and interests. This means that users are more likely to find someone who is truly compatible with them, rather than just someone who looks good on paper.

Another key feature of eHarmony is its focus on long-term relationships. While other dating sites may be geared more towards casual hookups or short-term flings, eHarmony is designed to help users find lasting love. This is reflected in the site's comprehensive personality questionnaire, which takes around 30 minutes to complete and is designed to help users understand themselves better and find partners who share their values and goals.

In addition to its matching system and focus on long-term relationships, eHarmony also offers a range of other features to help users connect and communicate. These include a messaging system, a "What If?" feature that suggests potential matches based on users' preferences, and a mobile app that allows users to access the site on the go.

Overall, eHarmony is a well-established and highly respected dating site that is ideal for singles who are serious about finding a long-term partner. With its unique matching system, focus on compatibility, and range of features, eHarmony is a great choice for anyone who is looking for love online.
