Mixed Experiences with eHarmony: Proceed with Caution
As someone who has explored the world of online dating, I understand the importance of finding a platform that truly connects you with like-minded individuals. Looking at the reviews for eHarmony, it's evident that the experiences are quite polarized. While some users have found success in meeting compatible matches and building meaningful connections, others have faced challenges with scammers, billing issues, and a lack of quality matches. It seems that eHarmony's approach may work well for some, but it's essential to proceed with caution and manage expectations. If you decide to give it a try, make sure to stay vigilant and communicate any concerns promptly with their customer service team. Remember, finding love online can be a journey filled with ups and downs, so stay positive and open-minded throughout your experience with eHarmony.
Excellent
I've read so many bad stories about dating scams that it took me forever to convince myself to join a dating site. But what can I say, I guess I am more lucky than most other guys. Joined eHarmony and Chemistry but also Mingle2day and Tinder. Personally, Mingle2day and eharmony worked best for me. Met a few women off both sites. Totally recommendable.
E HARMONY is the best dating site I have ever been on
I joined 1 month ago. I wasn't on the site for 3 days and met the woman of my dreams. We really hit it off.We just clicked right away. I have to say I met the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. We've already been out on ten dates. We seem to get closer and closer the more time we spend together. I am so Thankful for E HARMONY because I met my PERSON.

Excellent!
I Had a really good experience on this site. I did meet my wife on this site and i couldn't recommend this site enough to people. Im a guy and i did get a lot of responses back from women over the course of my subscription. You have to be committed to it though. It took me about 6 months and going out on several dates with women to find the right person. Just be patient with it and the site will throw some good matches your way.
I TOTALLY LOVE EHARMONY
I had no success on any other site like match.com or plenty of fish but in eharmony I got the real results I was looking for. They truly give you compatible people and don't play jokes, I like the long test they had that rats out all the people that only want a one night stand or those with serious anger issues (theres lots of them) and absolutely love that those people cannot get into the site, I had success after 4 months on it
Surprisingly positive experience
I am totally surprised by the bad reviews about your site. They are completely inaccurate. I think your site is amazing. I signed up half-heartedly at a friend's request, and to my complete surprise, 'met' someone who is incredibly compatible the very next day. Even if it doesn't work out in the end with him, at least I know that there are guys out there that have the qualities I want. Also your personality book is wonderful and was completely accurate. Thank you. I've already learned a lot about myself and my own relationship weaknesses from joining your site.
Excellent
I used eHarmony for four months and during this time I went on multiple dates. Same were great, some were a big waste of time, but that's not the fault of eHarmony. If you are looking for a decent and honest dating site, I think eHarmony is right for you. There can be a lack of matches in your area, depends where you from. I have made the experience that eHarmony works perfect in combination with Mingle2day which is also a good dating site. Both sites will basically cover all regions so if you weren't lucky on one site you may want to try the other site. Just an advise.
I tried match.com and yahoo's personals first (both
I tried match.com and yahoo's personals first (both were terrible). First profile I made they said they couldn't find any matches so I created another one. It's true the personality tests take forever, and I suspect they're pretty worthless (if your answers don't line up into neat little boxes, they don't know what to do... real people, of course, never have contradictions, polar opposite feelings on things, etc.) but I went ahead and paid for the monthly service. I started talking to a couple girls (they were all far away, which is another thing that sucks... there was no one in my state). They do have an option for instant communication or whatever, but I actually liked the guided interaction with all the questions, because I think it prevents an issue on other dating sites, which is the attractive women get hundreds of emails so you never hear anything back. Anyway, I've got to give it 5 stars, because I actually met my wife on here. Back to the problem of matches being far away though, she lived in China. Life is crazy sometimes.
I like the feature of the personality compatibility score
I like the feature of the personality compatibility score. It eliminates weeks of determining if compatibility is strong. A huge time saver.I dont like that the pool of true *** men is small. Men claim ***, but nothing in their profile reflects it other than the checked box. I casted a wide net and usually I have air if interest on other sites.Maybe my age group is not compatible. Seeking men ***.
This is a scam. ***. Do I need to expand my search to 100 miles in order to find a match? This is the answer they gave me.
Eharmony has a horrible business practice mentality. I fervantly recommend do not use their services. I was curious about their site and was unable to peruse unless I signed up. I signed up and paid the initial fee and looked through, only to find it was mediocre. Without even contacting one member, I cancelled the subscription less than 24 hours later and was surprised to be told, not only that I couldn't receive a refund but I still owed the remainder of the subscription. I attempted to work with customer service on at least stopping the other payment requests, but they kept siting the fine print that only certain state residents were able to get out of paying the full amount. Sounds like their state (not ***) took care of this disgusting practice for their residents. I'm now paying a monthly fee for a product I did not utilize nor will I ever-in total $400 down the drain-that's a sham. This is the worst dating site I've encountered and anyone who is on there is either stuck because they can't get out of it without losing money or they're cool with being swindled. I'm not one to complain when I know I signed up for it, but this company is truly sneaky and their claim "you can cancel anytime" but reality in the fine print of "but you still have to pay", makes them complete crooks-period! If I could give it no stars I would.
The worst dating site and customer service that I have ever experienced. After the first week I never got a match again and the match tab kept repeating Oops, try again. Customer service via email only (phone number does not work) sent the same canned reply every day for one week telling me to broaden my search criteria. I have been totally unable to get a refund.
Beware of eHarmony! Read this to understand how they do business. I know first hand because they did it to me.eHarmony, a site that I've never used and know nothing about, dinged my bank account for $510. I have no recollection of ever signing up with this website and as I've said, I don't ever remember even visiting that website.According to them, I signed up on some kind of 'Premium Membership' in which they set up to automatically renew after some time. After further investigation to this company, I discovered that their scheme is to get a person on a cheap intro rate and then stick it to them by giving themselves permission to your money (your bank account) in the future. You don't choose to auto-renew. THEY choose it for you. I can't imagine ever agreeing to such a thing, but then, I have no memory of doing it.I never received emails from them so 'out of sight; out of mind'. I never gave them or any other 'dating website' a thought. They never sent me an email letting me know that they were about to debit my bank account. When I saw it, I was immediately positive that somehow I'd been hacked and scammed.I sent them a message and requested that any 'service' that they think they had provided for me to be canceled immediately and my balance refunded. The first complaint I made was ignored. I sent a second one after a few weeks. They refused my request. As I said, I don't know how I could have avoided the eHarmony incident as I have no recollection of signing up with them much less to give them open access to my bank account in the future. They may or may not be a good dating site. I have no clue as I've never used it. But, their business practices while apparently legal are certainly unethical. Beware of eHarmony!
I read up on eHarmony prior to committing
I read up on eHarmony prior to committing. I was really excited to use my profile. But, the matches were horrible. Nowhere near matching with my profile and not compatible whatsoever. The "algorithm" based on the personality profiles does not seem honest at all. My matches were not only terrible but they were so far outside of my location. I tried changing my zip code, or adjusting my profile and kept getting the same matches everyday and all at least 20-30 miles away. I reached out to eHarmony to ask for a refund on future months, and to cancel my subscription. I was told I could only cancel the subscription but would be responsible for the month to month cost. The site was not easy to navigate, the app is really limited, and the matches are literally the same poorly matched people everyday with no variation even if you improve your profile. This doesn't make sense. A friend bought this for me as a gift and I really wish I could get her a refund.
Eharmony is the worst dating app on the market. They have very shady business practices and literally no customer service. There are a ton of fake profiles and you will not meet anyone of substance. The few dates I did go on were scary. There are so many better choices as far as dating APPS go. Total unethical scam. DON'T USE THIS APP!
Do not waste money on this online dating site. This company manipulates vulnerable people into signing up for their service and traps you into a contract from which there is no escape. State Attorney Generals should investigate and defend their citizens from the unconscionable business practices of online dating companies such as Eharmony.
I signed up for one month and they took out a whole year over $300 and I contacted Pay Pal immediately and we stopped the card and theyve been coming after me for six months now with the credit company. I have excellent credit and I dont know what to do with this company, but theyre scammers.
eHarmony is a complete disaster! The potential partners pictures blurred, they wave and after that nothing. Tried to cancel several times but I was reminded of their subscription. Their polices are horrendous, customer unable to cancel despite their claims you can cancel any time, and customers arent able to delete their profile. If you are looking for a dating website this is not the ***!
My review is concerning a shady business practice that e-harmony uses
My review is concerning a shady business practice that e-harmony uses. I am aware that other businesses do this as well, but it doesn't make it ok. When signing up for a certain subscription for a particular length of time, they automatically turn on a "Automatic Renewal feature". Its great if you catch it and undo/turnoff per the verbiage that you may or may not see. They do this automatically under the guise of " This feature allows our members to continue with the service without interruption." The option to make one's account auto-renew should be initiated by the member, not them. It shouldn't be something up to a member to catch and undo a future purchase decision automatically made for them by the company. If a client misses this and sees the mistake after the auto-renewal date,-they do not work with you in recognizing this as mistake and issue a refund. They stick you to paying out the rest of that contract. They may make a payment plan for you, but you are stuck paying out for a contract period in which you may no longer care to use services: paying for services even though you chose to turn your profile off...for whatever reason. This isn't about them caring about you getting uninterrupted service, -its about them taking advantage of a way for them to get some uninterrupted money flow their direction. They have to know that a certain percentage of members will miss the auto-renewal feature upon signing up. Much of the bad reviews you see here are probably due to this. If it were about uninterrupted services for the member, they can send reminder emails and/or alert messages via the app. If the member is active, they can either renew a contract at that time or initiate/turn on the auto renew feature themselves at that time. If they are not active and don't pay attention to these, then they probably are not wanting to renew. That's my two cents about the matter for all its worth.
EHarmony is a total scam with horrendous customer service and terrible policies. You will lose your money and get nothing in return. Avoid at all costs!
After E-*** deducted one initial membership payment from my bank account, I cancelled my membership before the next monthly cycle charge occurred because I was dissatisfied with their services. I cancelled the automatic payment feature. Three months later, I received an email stating that I owe them $128.00 and some change. This is outrageous. In my my opinion E-*** gives sub-par services to customers while charging them very high membership fees that are much higher than the industry average for a dating service. I advise potential customers to NOT give them your money by any means!
EHarmony is a complete scam! Crooks! You cant delete your account and they refuse to help
Absolute dumpster fire all profiles are either inactive or free so they can't see your messages. This company should be sued, used to be a decent site years ago.
How does a compnay with 1/5 stars get an A- rating????
How does a compnay with 1/5 stars get an A- rating? This company is a scam. Within 45 seconds - yes SECONDS - of signing up for the paid membership I was targed by scammers. How they knew just exactly when to do it is anyone's guess. Good luck trying to get any help from them - all they want is your $$ (and the scammer's have to pay too, by the way). I should have kept this $$ and used it for toilet paper during the next pandemic. At least I would have gotten some actual use out of it. Plus, I had to come here to get an actual phone number. If the service was all it was advertised, they could easily have a money back garauntee - even if only for 2 weeks - but I'm sure they know that would lead to their demise.
Total Scam! They charge for the full year, instead of what they present as the ability to cancel at anytime. They don't respond to email or calls. Absolutely awful business.
If I could leave zero stars I would. Bought their sale for a year last March. It became apparent almost immediately that the majority of profiles were bots or inactive or people who didnt pay so we couldnt talk on the site. Took the loss and moved on. Deleted the app off my phone and never thought about it again. Fast forward a year and I get an autorenew charge at DOUBLE the price with no notification that it was coming. Tried to go through customer service for a refund and was stonewalled. Apparently if theyre not required by federal or state law to send notification before taking peoples money they wont do it. Their customer service felt like bots copy and pasting text from their absurd policies. Stay away at all costs.
Eharmony are swindlers, Scam artists. I contacted them several times. I did not want a year membership. Their response, too bad. This is our final decision. I removed the payment method through my paypal and bank account.
Total and complete scam. I would leave zero or negative stars if possible. The way they operate is completely unethical. You are not allowed to cancel your subscription and even if you do choose to delete your profile, you still have to pay for the full subscription. Otherwise, they turn it over to a collection agency. I believe they have to resort to doing this to people because it's the only way they can make money. No one would subscribe otherwise. Oh, and you are not able to delete your profile yourself, you have to contact customer service. I only received about 15 matches and of the few I did receive, several did not have photos. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. I was told to broaden my search to other countries. Seriously?!?! I would say don't use this service but unfortunately if you're here like me leaving a complaint it's already too late.
I signed up to check this site out
I signed up to check this site out. Had to add my debit card to continue looking into this service. I then tried to cancel it and it would not allow me to do so on the very same day. They are charging me for a full year service. Was trying the FREE introductory ? I was considering the $19.99 per month for the 3 month service.
I need help with this problem so I am seeing a attorney this week.

eHarmony is a great app to meet and chat with singles as well as adding them to your friend list
eHarmony is a great app to meet and chat with singles as well as adding them to your friend list. The only problem I had was when I wanted to delete my account along with the payments, according to their terms and conditions, they can make an exception to the terms and conditions sometimes they don't. In my case they did and I am grateful. They are also a more secure app and website then most dating apps. Just to be clear this is not a poor review, but like every app and website, they have flaws and can be corrected.
SCAMMERS - Stay away. Negative star review.
Firstly, they'll tell you it's a free dating service but you are only allowed 1 or 2 messages before you have to sign up. Then you think you are locked in for 6 months. Then they will make it difficult to cancel and you'll think you actually have but really, they are very sneaky will do an auto renewal for a year at exorbitant prices! Then the customer service will run rings around you with their emails telling you they don't have an account under your name and someone will respond within 48 hours and you will never be able to speak to a real person. I'm glad to hear that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is taking them to Federal court for their dishonest and misleading business practices.
Recommendation: Stay away. Google eHarmony complaints and you will see for yourself.
eHarmony Review: Terrible Customer Service, Technical Issues, and No Good Matches. Don't Waste Your Money!
I had a really bad experience with eHarmony. I'm writing this to help you out! So listen up:
I tried to be a grown-up about it. You know how it is, sometimes you buy something and it's not what you thought it would be, so you call the company and try to work something out.
Well, I called eHarmony so many times in the six weeks I was on there that I saved their customer service number in my phone. And let me tell you, their customer service reps treat you like you're dumb. Even when they're being nice, they don't really know how to answer your questions about the site.
Here's why I was so unhappy:
1) I had trouble signing up because of an email issue.
2) The website had a lot of technical problems. The pages, photos, and profile wouldn't save, so I had to enter my information over and over again.
3) The app didn't work at first, so my profile was completely blank for hours.
4) I accidentally bought a $24.99 add-on because there was no confirmation button. They did give me a refund, but still.
5) I changed my match criteria a bunch of times to try to get better matches, but I never matched with anyone I actually wanted to date. I posted lots of photos, filled out my profile completely, and took it seriously, but still no luck. It doesn't make sense that I would send lots of "smiles" and never get a reply. I'm not everyone's type, but I'm not a monster either.
6) The matches they gave me were either too old, too young, not attractive to me, or had nothing in common with me. I even got matched with two people I already knew! It seems like they don't really have a good system for matching people up.
7) When you call customer service, they don't really know how to help you.
8) I asked for a refund and they sent me an email saying they couldn't help me. I had to explain all my problems again. There's no way to follow up with them after that.
9) They deactivated my account even though I was a paying customer! When I called to ask why, the customer service person didn't know.
10) When I emailed them to ask why they deactivated me, they wouldn't tell me. They also wouldn't let me reactivate my account. I paid for three months of service, but they cut me off halfway through with no explanation. When I called, they made me go through the email process again.
11) When they finally did reply to my email, they said I broke the terms and conditions, but they wouldn't say how. I have no idea why they kicked me off.
12) Even though they kicked me off halfway through my subscription, they still won't give me a refund.
13) eHarmony says they're successful, but they wouldn't give me my money back even though I was really unhappy with their service.
So here's the deal. eHarmony won't give you good matches, they'll take your money, and they'll kick you off without any explanation. Don't join eHarmony. Read all the reviews before you sign up!
E-Disharmony Review: Misleading Advertising, Poor Customer Service, and a Scam
E-Disharmony, as I like to call it, is a dating website that I had high hopes for. I was enticed by their advertisement of $19.99 per month, which was written in huge bold letters. However, I was confused when I saw that it said $79 for 3 months off to the side. I thought that the $79 for 3 months was a separate option for paying the same price. I mean, why would they advertise $19.99 per month in HUGE BOLD letters if that option was not available?
When I got to the payment page, I was so confused and did not realize that my bank account was going to be charged $79 for 3 months. I really thought it was supposed to be $19.99 per month. I called customer service and they told me that I can't do payments of $19.99 per month. The person was nice and really believed in how great the company was. I caved and didn't ask for a refund, even though I knew I should have.
When I used the website, buttons were not working and info was not getting saved. I called in for a refund and talked to a very "nice" person who convinced me that my web browser must have a problem. He helped me reset it and convinced me that maybe I just needed to get used to the site. He offered me 11 more days to try it before a refund. He explained a feature to me about hiding matches that I'm not interested in. This was good to know since the website was not correctly processing the criteria I set.
I spent a lot of time trying to narrow down the many "matches" that did not correspond to the criteria I set by using their featured "hide" button. After spending 30 minutes doing this, I was tired and decided to do more searching the next day. The next day, none of the "matches" that I hid were hidden any longer, so all that time, energy, and effort I spent the night before trying to organize was wasted.
I tried emailing the company about some other problems and no one responded. Being an extremely busy person, working a lot and going to school, one week feels like a couple of days. I hardly had a chance to test out the website, but the amount that I did was extremely tedious, time-consuming, and aggravating. I emailed them to cancel and get a refund, but no one responded. The next day I called.
Despite my legitimate complaints that the site was not working as they claimed, they refused to give me a refund since somehow the 11 days they gave me had expired, and my call came a few days late. I asked to speak with a manager and that person just repeated the same lines as the rep. I asked to speak with the manager's manager, but was told that could only happen through email. The manager's manager never got back to me.
Also, they said if I wanted a refund, they would have to send me an email that I would have to respond to. I did this and no one responded. In fact, I sent about 4 emails to them expressing various difficulties with the site, and none of my emails were responded to.
This company cares more about profits than its customers' experience or providing a good product. It makes its money by misleading, manipulating, and trapping customers rather than offering a good product. By the way it has operated, I do not trust this company, and therefore, I highly doubt their match-making "tests" are effective. This company is a scam and has no integrity.
A complete disaster for dating in your 30s with a lack of membership base and countless inactive members
This site is a complete disaster. It seems like anyone and everyone can join eHarmony with just a credit card and a heartbeat. I mean, it's got good word of mouth and TV ads, but that doesn't mean it's worth it.
I'm in my late 30s, my kids are almost 18, I just bought a house, and I'm starting to think about what I want to do with the rest of my life. So, I thought I'd give eHarmony a try. But, boy, was I disappointed.
The women I met on eHarmony were either in their early to mid-30s, single, no kids, and looking for a guy who could give them a baby. Or, they had just gotten out of a bad relationship and were too stuck on why the relationship failed. It was like talking to Lisa Simpson at 33 years old.
I went on several dates, and let me tell you, the amount of freakish happenings would make a free site like POF blush. It was beyond anything normal.
When I first signed up, I got five matches. Three of those matches were women I had already talked to on a free dating site. I had hit it off with them in the past, but never met them. That gave me hope. But, I also thought that maybe the same people on eHarmony were also using free sites.
The first date I went on was a disaster. We talked on the phone a few times and really hit it off. But, when we met in person, she got really flirty and initiated a sexual conversation. She asked me when the last time I had sex was and bragged about having sex with someone two nights before our date. Then, she told me how many FWBs she had. I asked her why she wasn't on a free site like POF, and she told me that she wasn't a slut.
The second date was even worse. She wouldn't stop talking about her ex-boyfriend and even invited me to grab her butt at the end of the date.
The other five dates were bad, but not on an extreme level. It was just frustrating, and I lost faith in eHarmony.
The only good part was that after my membership expired, they cut me a deal where I was paying $11 a month.
But, there are so many other reasons why this site sucks. I live in a metropolitan area with three million people, and after four months, I had to expand my search parameters to get any matches. The site encourages long-distance dating to make up for its lack of a membership base and its countless numbers of inactive members.
I even came across a profile of a woman I know who hadn't logged in since 2008. And, toward the end of my run, I started to get profiles with digital camera date tags that were dated for [protected]. Anyone who takes a current photo takes it with their smartphone camera.
The other fact is that 95% of the people on eHarmony are also on Tinder, OkCupid, POF, Zoosk, and Match.com. So, why pay an enormous price for eHarmony when you can go straight to the source?
E-farceony: a scam online dating site - my experience
My friends told me to try online dating, and even though they didn't find their partners on E-farceony, I decided to give it a shot. I have to admit, I wasn't comfortable with the idea of online dating, but I thought I'd see what it was all about. Unfortunately, within an hour, I realized it wasn't for me and immediately completed the process to not renew for another subscription.
The individuals that they matched me up with lived in different provinces and countries. I mean, do they think we have a private jet to fly around seeing each other? It was abundantly clear that I had nothing in common with these individuals. It's obvious that this company is taking advantage of those who are already insecure about themselves and wanting to find their forever mate.
I'm not insecure, and I can meet all kinds of people in my area. However, I have a busy work schedule, so I thought online dating might be a good way to meet people. But it wasn't.
Within 2-3 hours, I contacted Customer Service via email to cancel my subscription. I explained that I wanted to cancel and why, and that I was doing so within the 3-day period. I received a generic email stating that because I live in Canada, I cannot cancel and was sent a link to their "Terms and Agreement." I then sent them a response stating again that I wanted to cancel and that I was within my rights as a consumer. I even quoted Section 14 of their own terms. Pay close attention to the print in bold when you check this section.
"14. Governing Law & Venue
Unless prohibited by local law, this Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of laws. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Section 15 of this Agreement shall be governed by the Federal Arbitration Act. Nothing in this Agreement is intended to limit a party's right to seek equitable relief at any time. If the Arbitration Agreement (as set forth in Section 15) is held to be unenforceable, you agree that any claims or disputes that you have against us must be resolved in the federal or state courts located in Los Angeles, CA to the extent permissible by applicable law. Notwithstanding the foregoing, claims appropriately brought in small claims court may be filed in any court of competent jurisdiction. For the sake of clarity, the choice of California law shall not exclude, limit or supersede a consumer's rights or remedies under mandatory consumer protection laws in the jurisdiction where the consumer resides."
They sent me another generic email stating that they couldn't cancel the subscription and it was pretty much no longer up for discussion. LOL.
I tried to go back on the site to remove my information and place myself as invisible, but it wouldn't allow me to do so, even though their own information states that you can. That was the final straw for me. I called my bank and explained the situation. All the payments will be stopped as E-farceony has it as a purchase and not pre-authorized. My bank has also placed it into dispute.
I have everything documented, and it clearly shows that I attempted to work this out with them. If you also look closely, it shows on their own site eharmony.ca, which means Canadian.
I logged back in and started to remove my picture and any other information that I was able to do. While doing so, I screen shot everything for future use if needed. I also screen shot that I logged out for the last time. This will also be helpful in the future.
Don't get caught up in their SCAM! No company with any ethics would refuse to cancel something way before the apparent "3-day grace period." I truly hope that this review helps some of you.
Dead profiles and inactive users - is it worth it?
I gotta say, I'm not too impressed with eHarmony. I mean, sure, they talk a big game about finding you the perfect match, but in reality, it's just a bunch of dead profiles and inactive users. And don't even get me started on the canned responses they give you when you complain about it. "Oh, people may take a while to log in," they say. "You can't control who logs in," they say. It's all just a bunch of talking circles around the problem.
I signed up for a free account a couple of years ago, just to see what it was like. I didn't really take it seriously, so I forgot about it pretty quickly. But then, a couple of years later, I decided to give it another shot and bought a premium membership. And that's when I found out that I had over 1,000 matches waiting for me. But here's the thing - most of them were from before 2018, and I couldn't get rid of them. I mean, come on, eHarmony, what kind of dating site doesn't let you delete old matches? It's ridiculous.
So I spent a few minutes a day looking at all these old matches and blocking the ones I wasn't interested in. And then I tried to focus on the more recent matches. But even then, I was running into problems. I matched with someone who seemed really great, but then I found out they were already in a relationship. And this wasn't just an old match from two years ago - this was a match from a week ago. It's like eHarmony doesn't even bother to check if people are still single before they match them up.
And don't even get me started on the "Active Within" feature. They removed it two years ago, but now they're telling me to use it to find active users? Give me a break. It's like they're not even trying anymore. And the drip-fed matches? Don't even get me started. Most of them are either inactive or not even real people. It's like eHarmony is just trying to pad their numbers with fake profiles.
And here's the thing - it's not my responsibility to notify eHarmony when I close my account. They know full well that most people sign up for the free account and then forget about it. But instead of being honest about the number of active users they have, they just keep pushing out dead profiles and hoping no one notices. It's not fair to the paying customers who are actually looking for love.
Honestly, I think eHarmony needs to step up their game if they want to survive in the world of app dating. They need to be more honest about their user base and start offering more options for searching and filtering matches. And they need to stop wasting people's time with dead profiles and inactive users. It's just not a good look for them.
eHarmony Complaints 284
Dating service
Eharmony have filed today through a collection (Collection House) agency. Requesting funds unpaid for a 12 month subscription.
I first disputed the subscription after the first month of sign up and requested my profile be deleted and renewal subscription be cancelled.
It was jere that they confirmed that I had signed for 6 months. The first month was paid and only the final 6 month payment to be deducted in instalments. The following months were paid (April to Sept 2023)
Eharmony claim they emailed twice for further payments unpaid. Not the case.
Now they are requesting payment via a collection agency of $520+
Desired outcome: Deletion of “outstanding” debt for services clearly not rendered.

I worked as a DoD civilian at Wright Patterson Air Force Base from 1975 to 1995
I worked as a DoD civilian at Wright Patterson Air Force Base from 1975 to 1995. I took a downsized buyout in *** due to job cuts, but I don't receive a retirement check. I joined eHarmony on 12/8/20 and immediately requested to cancel my account a couple of days later because there weren't many men in my preferred area and age range. However, eHarmony refused to cancel my account and insisted that I still owe a balance of $123.93. I have tried contacting them multiple times through email and even sent a letter, but they continue to deny my request. I believe there are laws that allow cancellation within 24-72 hours, but eHarmony keeps referring to their terms and conditions. I want them to erase my balance, remove my information from their database, and stop sending me emails. I don't want anything negative to be attached to my credit report. Please help me with this issue or advise me on what to do. Thank you.
Storing my credit card without my consent, charging auto renewal without any clear notification and forcing to keep
Storing my credit card without my consent, charging auto renewal without any clear notification and forcing to keep subscription for additional 6 mos 07/17/20 I have not used eharmony services for more than one year but they auto charged for credit card without informing me and then refuse to give refund requested. I probably got their subscription when they were offering a big discount for one year or 15 months subscription. It was so long ago, I don't even recall the duration of the subscription. First of all, it's a fraud to keep my credit card number for so long with them. Any legit company do not store customers credit card number for future use. Especially if it is longer than six months. I never needed to use it. If they go to my account they can see almost zero use. So, the initial subscription money they got from me was a gain for them. They didn't stop there. They sneakily waited for an opportunity, taking advantage of customer life situation. I am active duty military member, and also a health care provider. This year with COVID PANDEMIC, people dying right and left. Being a health care provider, I was busy saving people's life, no time for me to go to the dating site I once subscribed. Most of all, when people's life at stake, dating site probably not top on my list to edit. Still to my recollection, I turned off the auto renewal one year back however since don't use the site at all, never checked if the auto subscription still turned off or on, as I explained earlier, that was not anywhere in my list to do. Probably it shouldn't be in anyone's list this year! And this company is taking advantage of people's misery, sneakily waiting when people might not constantly and compulsively checking the auto subscription status, and without any email notification or any kind of notification, auto deducting previously stored credit card! This is completely unethical. If they were doing honest business, they would at least send an email notification saying that the auto subscription going to renew my membership. At that point, if a client really want to remain there, will ignore the notification and let them auto renew, while those do not want to renew any further will take action. But this company, while they send constant email if someone "winked at you", do not send any email prior to recharging! On 7/16/20 when i was checking my bank account, saw they already charged me for auto renewal. With COVID, all of us specially the one who work for government living with limited budget, where every cent counts. I am the sole provider of the house, two other members are jobless. I cannot afford losing $187 on auto renewal for a service i never use. I thought customer service still exists. More so this year, even landlords are forgiving rent payments while tenants are living in there premise. I have not use their services at all, so I could get a refund from them.NOT FROM EHARMONY! Their customer service said they checked my auto renewal and it was not turned off. Even tough to my recollection it was off. It is their word VS my word. And if they were su truthful, they didn't have to steal the money. So, who knows if it was off or on, they probably turned it on when I was not checking last one year. I didn't know i had to battle with company like this back then, didn't track every single day. Now because it was on, according to their stealing middle class people's hard earned money principal they are saying " according to our terms and conditions we cannot refund your money "! I just get speechless how openly they practice fraud! On top they had the audacity to notify they cannot honor my request and THEY HAVE EXTENDED MY MEMBERSHIP TILL NOVEMBER OF 2020! Even though i send them multiple notifications to cancel my membership right away! Probably waiting for another small negligence on my part and they will again harass me by pulling out another chunk from my account without my authorization. My biggest fear that they have my credit card information and storing it and can use it anytime without my authorization. This is clearly fraud, not acceptable.

Eharmony randomly closed my account after I submitted
Eharmony randomly closed my account after I submitted a suggestion to make their service better. I tried contacting them by phone but the rep had nothing useful to say other than telling me to reply to the email i received, oh by the way the email said:
Dear Customer,
Based on recent review of your account information and activity, eHarmony has made the decision to close your account. We do not disclose the specific reason for our decision, however, for your consideration we can provide some general information regarding such closure decisions.
The most common reason we may choose to close an account is for a violation of our Terms and Conditions regarding the misrepresentation of personal information, such as name, age, address, marital status or criminal history. Also here is some bits from their terms and conditions that are SCAM indicators.
11. Term and Termination.
This Agreement will become effective upon your acceptance of the Agreement by your use of the Site or the Services and will remain in full force and effect unless and until terminated hereunder. Either you or eHarmony may terminate your account at any time, for any reason or no reason, without explanation, effective upon sending written notice to the other party. EHarmony reserves the right to immediately suspend or terminate your access to any of the Services, without notice, for any reason or no reason. We also reserve the right to remove your account information or data from our Services and any other records at any time at our sole discretion. In the event your access to any of the Services is suspended due to the breach of this Agreement, you agree that all fees then paid to eHarmony by you will be nonrefundable and all outstanding or pending payments will immediately be due. You may terminate your account by following the steps in the applicable section under "Cancellations" below, or by sending a notice of cancellation to: eHarmony, Inc., Attn: Cancellations, P. O. Box 3640, Santa Monica, CA 90408 USA. Following any termination of any Registered User's use of the Singles Service, eHarmony reserves the right to send a notice thereof to other Registered Users which whom you have corresponded.
This is an unfair policy, a great money making scam, and it encourages a fraudulent situation where in the company could cancel accounts after subscriptions are paid for and not have to provide any service. However, if you see there TV commercials, they claim to be the "best".
When I contacted their so called customer service center they provided no useful information as to why the account was canceled and referred me to respond to an email and that there was no phone contact for the section that deals with the cancelling of customer accounts, yes they have an entire section dedicated to searching for and cancelling user accounts. They even sent me some sort of legal affidavit requesting personal legal information about my marital status, under penalty of perjury. Now since giving them the personal legal information would be unreasonable considering the nature of their business and reputation as well as the means in which they requested it via a webmail service is simply inadequately secure for such personal and vital information i did not provide it. As well as the statement within their terms and conditions that states that"eHarmony and its contractors may use various ways of verifying information that users have provided. However, none of those ways are perfect, and you agree that eHarmony and its contractors will have no liability to you arising from any incorrectly verified information." In other words if they are wrong and threaten you with perjury they are not liable. So when I didn't provide them with the legal information they canceled my account. I think eHarmony and other sites like it are Big Business and Big Giant SCAM.
Yeah seriously #wasteofmoney, don't ever signup for this service they can close your account when ever they want for what ever reason or no reason and they can screw you over and not be liable. I put a fraud complaint in with my credit card company and they are getting my money back.
eHarmony auto renewed my account and billed me without notification in violation of their own terms and conditions and
eHarmony auto renewed my account and billed me without notification in violation of their own terms and conditions and is refusing to waive the bill. I initially signed up for eHarmony on 10/6/19 at a promotional price for 12 months and paid in full with a prepaid VISA card at the time of purchase. Per this activation, I was asked to agree to eHarmony's terms and conditions which stated that I would receive a confirmation email containing my account information and any information about auto renewal, that I would be notified 30 days prior to any auto renewal activities, and that I could cancel this auto renewal feature at any time. I never received an initial confirmation email from eHarmony, but I was able to access my account, so I let that go. Boy was that a mistake! I recently logged onto my account and found that my account was locked and it had a note stating I owed *** with estimated tax) due to an auto renewal on my account that was charged on 10/6/20. Note that I saw this message only after I logged into my account and I was not notified by email of this charge. I immediately notified eHarmony (on 10/15/20) through their "contact us" feature on their website to request that the auto renewal charges be removed from my account as I was not notified prior to this charge so I would have the opportunity to cancel at that time. I also asked them if an additional 3 months could be added to my subscription end date due to their eHarmony guarantee policy since I had not found any suitable matches in the year that I had been on the website. They replied to my email the next day (10/16) saying that the eHarmony guarantee could only be applied within 30 days prior to my subscription expiration (which i was not notified of) and that the auto renewal charges would remain on my account and that i had 14 days to pay it. I immediately replied to their email stating that I had initially paid in full for my 12 month subscription, I had not gotten any notification that my subscription was ending or that my account would be charged an auto renewal in the next 30 days, and I was also not notified that they even tried to charge my account for the auto renewal when they did so on 10/06/20. They responded back 2 days later (10/18/20) stating the same info again and referencing their terms and conditions as to why I was charged the auto renewal. They also stated I was informed of this auto renewal on confirmation of my initial subscription (which I never received) and it would also be in the order confirmation which they said they resent me as a courtesy. I did not receive this either. They also stated they sent me a payment reminder on 10/12/20 and after 14 days with no response they sent me an email reminder for the total amount due *** plus tax). First of all, it has not been 14 days since 10/12, and second, I did not receive either payment email that they referenced. I responded back immediately stating such and I also asked if they could provide proof of my initial confirmation email, the auto renewal reminder (that they are supposed to send 30 days prior to any auto renewal activities per their own referenced terms and conditions), and either of the payment reminders. I also asked them to confirm what email they were sending those to since it obviously is not the email I have on my eHarmony account. I also asked that the existing fees be removed from my account once again since they were never communicated to me before being charged. They responded back today (10/19/20) saying that their team has carefully reviewed my recent inquiry about auto renewal charges and that my original denial was found to be appropriate and this would be their final decision. They also provided no proof of my confirmation email, 30 day auto renewal reminder email, resend of the confirmation email, or payment reminder emails as I had asked for in my previous communication. They also did not provide the email address that they were claiming to have sent these emails to. The email ended with "Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any further consideration of your request."
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I had a 6 month subscription with eharmony. I checked off/cancelled the automatic renewal. EHarmony is saying I did not and charged C$940 for an annual renewal I did not ask for, in fact turned down. This discrepancy between my actions and eharmonies is probably due to their websites complexity and deceptions. eHarmony did refund me one half of this charge but are insisting on keeping half. This is very unfair to say the least.
The date of transaction was 3/25, I received a FRAUD alert on my credit card from my bank . I went through the steps advised, and disputed the charge. The company continues to email me, although, I desire to cancel the service, it was promoted as free views.
I signed up for website within 30 minutes I contacted eHarmony support to request to cancel and refund. I sent numerous emails and they refuse to cancel and refund. I signed up for 4 installments I requested to not be chargers the last 3 because I was uncomfortable with this site they are refusing.
I paid my bill, but keep getting charged! Had multiple issues with the site, but they falsely advertise customer care 24/7, when there is no email or phone or chat or ANY way to reach help! Their service truly sucks!
Date application finding me no matches
Eharmony charged me $55.08 a month for their services in September, October and November 2023. Yet I only got 3 contacts from men. One was over 200 hundred miles away and NOT within my specified search range. The second I met for a date and found out he was recovering from colon cancer. The third guy who messaged me was so ugly, he was a candidate for serious plastic surgery.
Eharmony is now well know for discriminating against racial and religious minorities and giving us very few matches. The company was founded by a fundamentalist Christian who caters to that very largely white crowd. I am a religious minority as indicated on my Eharmony application. I think that is the reason I received very few matches. I want all my money refunded. ($55.08 multiplied by 3.)
Claimed loss: $55.08 times 3 plus my time lost filling out their very long questionnaire
Desired outcome: Refund of all my money ($55.08*3) and $200 for my wasted time.

Refuses to cancel the 12-month subscription that I never signed up for.
I created an online dating profile with eHarmony early this year around March 2023. The subscription was automatically renewed on 8/29/23 for a full 12 months until 8/29/24 without my knowledge or right to make that decision. I only found out after 6 months when I saw money was still being taken out of my account by eHarmony. When I first signed up, I...

Incident: [protected], I originally signed up for this service in April or May 2023. At that time I was offered the option of paying in instalments. My last payment of $32.02 was paid on Sept 1, 2023. Nearly 2 months later they hit me with a bill for $114.38. They want to settle by "waiving" another two or three instalments. I never signed up for an entire year. They have had all week to deal with this but their emails seem stubborn and arrogant.

Desired outcome: $114.38
I would never sign up with this type of site again.
eHarmony auto renewal
It has happened to me just like with so many other people - eHarmony has turned me over to a collection agency called RFGI because I don't agree to pay their auto renewable bill. I stopped my service by canceling my PayPal auto payments, and that worked in the past, now it won't because I was supposed to use 'their' website. They are demanding that I pay $327.89. There are class action lawsuits and many, many other complaints (Google it) about this exact thing happening to other people. I have the emails of everything that's happened. The BBB wasn't even able to help.
Claimed loss: 327.89
Desired outcome: I do not agree to pay this bill. Thus, I would like the demand that I pay it to be canceled.
Same thing is happening to me. They sent it to collections. They said I didn’t reply to their emails about auto renewal, which is not true, I even have emails to prove that I contacted them and told them I haven’t signed up, stop trying to charge me and delete my account which they did. Now they are saying that since account was closed they can’t see anything lol and deal with the collection agency. They have done this to many people and will keep doing it to others until somone files a lawsuit against them. Complete POS company.
Yup. I cannot stand being manipulated to give them money. If I wanted to keep it I would pay for it. My next step is to contact the consumer protection agency.

Dating site
This is not a competitively priced dating site. After 3 months I could not find a partner to match my criteria. They tell you to change your criteria to have a better chance of finding a match. The algorithm they use keeps matching you with the wrong people. Once you sign in with them you will not be able to cancel. Too many fake accounts of course.

Fraudulent charges
Earlier this year I was the victim of credit card theft and identity fraud. Somebody used my details (and card) to create a fake account on Eharmony.
When I realised my card had been stolen I cancelled bank accounts and I formed the bank and police.
Eharmony are using a collection agency to try and make me pay. I have sent repeated requests asking for IP address records to trace where the account was created from so the fraud can be traced. They refuse to cooperate and have even blocked me being able to email them.
The ACCC in Australia has now launched action against Eharmony. I am willing to take action against this unscrupulous company. Nobody should sign up they are willing to accept fake profiles and stolen credit cards.
Desired outcome: I want any deductions refunded, any debt cleared, proof of IP records and the account cancelled.
Cancellation of the balance of a year long contract.
IMO, This site is a total scam. After receiving almost no traffic for a year, and no one remotely a match... I let my subscription expire. Once it expired, I was bombarded with supposedly amazing matches, which were all blurred out, and only visible if I renewed my membership. I was dumb enough to do so, and as soon as I renewed, the volume dropped again to...

I just was checking their application, answered some questions there . I though it was a free trial. Then l found out they have taken £209 from my bank account and straight away l contacted with them and Paypal for cancellationand refund. ( on the same day)The application is not transparent. I never ever used any of their services. They rejected my refund request and ate my £208! This is absolutely joke, this is a scam! I will look for my legal rights!
Desired outcome: Full refund as l never used their app!
About eHarmony
One of the things that sets eHarmony apart from other dating sites is its unique matching system. Instead of simply allowing users to browse through profiles and message each other, eHarmony uses a proprietary algorithm to match users based on a variety of factors, including personality traits, values, and interests. This means that users are more likely to find someone who is truly compatible with them, rather than just someone who looks good on paper.
Another key feature of eHarmony is its focus on long-term relationships. While other dating sites may be geared more towards casual hookups or short-term flings, eHarmony is designed to help users find lasting love.
