Emmert Dental Associates Dental procedure

Date of Procedure : 05/27/2023

I have been battling since this date till today, calling back and forth between my insurance and this provider. Since the claims were processed, my calls would never get answered for some reason. Also, this provider never filed the claims correctly and provided invalid dental codes. I even sent the processed claim report EOB to their email address, yet they told me they have not received any emails.

I was charged upfront on the date of service for an amount of $3400 for just one tooth for RC and a temporary crown.

With the EOB from my insurance, the amount that I am supposed to owe is nowhere closer to the originally billed amount by this dentist. And they are not even doing their due diligence in looking at my claim to process my refund.

Emmert Dental Associates I've been trying to reach the office manager, Michelle, at Emmert Dental Associates for quite some time now

I've been trying to reach the office manager, Michelle, at Emmert Dental Associates for quite some time now. Unfortunately, I haven't received any callbacks. Jan Marie, a member of the office staff, informed me that there is no one else available to assist me with my request. According to what I've been told, my tooth extraction in 2016 was not properly filed with my insurance. As a result, they won't cover any additional dental work that I require.

Emmert Dental Associates I just moved to the area and had to find a new dentist for me and my two boys

I just moved to the area and had to find a new dentist for me and my two boys. My sons' dental care is covered by their dad's federal employer. On two occasions, they scheduled appointments for us at the office, but when I received the confirmation call, it turned out that the appointment was actually at a different time. I let it slide, thinking it was just a mistake. However, they also made a billing error and charged the insurance company $900 due to a system glitch. Today, when I brought my son in for a filling, they struggled to figure out the insurance coverage. While my son was in the back, they informed me that I needed to pay $248 because his insurance doesn't cover it.

Emmert Dental Associates I went to this Dentist's office on December 10

I went to this Dentist's office on December 10. The Dr. said I needed a root canal and a filling done. This seemed odd to me as I wasn't experiencing any pain or sensitivity to either mentioned area. I wanted to get a second opinion and called the Dr's office to get my X-rays sent to another office. They charged me $15 to send my own X-rays to the second dentist's office and didn't even provide the copy of the X-ray on the proper glossy material for the new dentist to review so I had to get all new X-rays. The check was cashed December 15. at the very MOST this could have cost $2.51 for microfilm copies.

Emmert Dental Associates First time I went there, they took a panoramic X-ray and then told me it was necessary and that the charge to be paid was $40

First time I went there, they took a panoramic X-ray and then told me it was necessary and that the charge to be paid was $40. Tried to argue when I told them I didn't want teeth whitening or fluoride rinse, and then they proceeded to tell me I had 4 cavities. I then called my regular dentist, who I've been going to for years, and they told me there's no way I have that many cavities and why on earth did they do a panoramic X-ray? I had no problems, and my other dentist never did that. The hygienist came out and argued with me, saying the doctor told her to take the X-ray and if we have dental problems later, not to come complaining to them. Very rude and unprofessional. I would like a refund for the $40 panoramic X-ray. This is a shady business, very suspicious.

Emmert Dental Associates I went to Emmert dental and they told me I needed a deep gum cleaning

I went to Emmert dental and they told me I needed a deep gum cleaning. They said they would call my dental insurance companies, I have two, to find out how much I had to pay. The person from Emmert dental told me I wouldn't have to pay anything. I asked if they were sure and they said yes. But then I got a bill in the mail saying I owed $350. I called the nether park office and they said the manager, Michelle, would call me. But she never did. I got another bill on 8/3 saying I owe $297.60. I called on 8/11 and spoke to Gloria. She said someone would call me back, but they never did. I went to the settlers ridge office where I had my dental work done. They made copies of the bill and said their expert, Michael, would handle it and call me. But I haven't heard anything from anyone as of 8/19. I'm worried this might affect my credit.

Emmert Dental Associates I got a lotta complaints 'bout Emmert Dental, man

I got a lotta complaints 'bout Emmert Dental, man. My kid went there and got some fillings from Dr. C. Let me tell ya, two messed up things happened durin' our visit. First off, the dentist straight up yelled at my scared four-year-old son durin' the procedure. Like, c'mon, goin' to the dentist is already scary for any kid, but havin' the doc, who we're supposed to trust, scream at 'em? That's just messed up and could mess the kid up mentally. Second, this dude named Joe M told us the nitrous would cost $200, but they charged us $375! When I called 'em to ask 'bout this charge and the verbal attack on my four-year-old, they said Michelle, the office manager, would get back to me. That was like two months ago, man. I've been callin' and leavin' messages, but they ain't even botherin' to answer. I'm hopin' the ComplaintsBoard.com can help us out and fix this messed up experience.

Emmert Dental Associates I went to Emmert's Settlers Ridge location because I lost a filling in January

I went to Emmert's Settlers Ridge location because I lost a filling in January. When I made the appointment, I told them I had no insurance and would pay cash. I said it again when I got there and paid $150 cash when done. Yesterday, I got a past due invoice from them for $268. The invoice had two lines dated 3/1 where they tried to send it to an old insurance policy they had on record for me. The policy expired years ago. I called to figure out what was going on, and the person who answered said I had to talk to her manager. Another woman got on the phone, and I explained that I paid cash after the appointment. I asked why they would try to submit it for more money when I already paid and told them I had no current insurance. She got really rude with me and finally said, "fine, we'll just send this to collections." This happened before with them in 2014. Back then, I had insurance, and they did a root canal and crown for me. I told them my insurance wouldn't cover it, so I paid cash again. After that, I got a statement showing they tried to submit it to my insurance, but it got rejected and showed a balance due. I called them then too, and they said they had someone new working and it was just a mistake.

Emmert Dental Associates Hey, so I just got this bill from Emmert Dental in Pittsburgh

Hey, so I just got this bill from Emmert Dental in Pittsburgh. I went there a few months back 'cause I had a chipped filling. First off, the ceiling was leaking, which I gotta say ain't too clean or safe for a place that's supposed to take care of my teeth. They had some towels to try and stop the leak, but it looked pretty dirty. Then this dentist comes in and pokes me with some cleaning tool and says, "You need a root canal and a crown." I was pretty surprised 'cause I know I just chipped the filling, ya know? They told me it would cost around $2700 with insurance, which, to be honest, I don't have that kinda money. So I told 'em I needed some time to think about it. The amount they were asking for versus the condition of the office was really discouraging.

The person at the front desk gave me another appointment and said I didn't have to pay anything. They even mentioned on their website that new patients don't have to pay on their first visit. But then I got the first bill, which was about $75, and they wanted me to give 'em my card info instead of paying online. I was going through a tough time, but I recently got a new job, so I decided I'd pay it even if it didn't seem fair. But now they sent me a bill for $374. Is that even legal? How did it go up by $300? What can I do in this situation? Let me know if you need more info. Take care

Emmert Dental Associates I got this invoice that says I owe money for a consultation I had on 01/18/22

I got this invoice that says I owe money for a consultation I had on 01/18/22. It was about getting my wisdom teeth taken out, and I had made an appointment for it at the Robinson place. But before that, they said I had to see another dentist for an examination. Even though the Robinson dentist already checked me out and said I needed the wisdom teeth removed. So, I went to the Bethel Park office like Emmert Dental wanted, and they wanted to take X-rays. I asked why the X-rays I had done at the Robinson office weren't enough. I also asked if I had to pay for these X-rays. A person from Emmert told me a few minutes later that there wouldn't be any charge, so I went ahead with the X-rays. I finished the appointment, and a few weeks later, I got a bill for $75. I called the Bethel Park office and asked why I had to pay since it was Emmert Dental who wanted the second consultation. They said they would take the amount off my account, and I didn't have to pay. But after that call, I got 3 more bills for $75 each. I talked to Stephanie, Michelle, and Jo Marie this morning, and they all said they would remove the amount from my account, and I could ignore the bill. But the bills keep coming, and I'm starting to wonder if they just don't talk to each other or if they're trying to make me pay by sending me invoices over and over. I'm also worried that they'll send this to collections and mess up my credit. Then I might have to take legal action against Emmert Dental.

Emmert Dental Associates I had a lot of dental work done at the Market Square office in July and August

I had a lot of dental work done at the Market Square office in July and August . Dr. C told me I needed four root canals and four fillings. I also had to see a periodontist, who wondered why I was sent for an unnecessary exam. Emmert Dental takes my dental insurance, Guardian, and agrees to accept the amount they allow for procedures. Two employees confirmed this. Guardian paid Emmert Dental $1,500 and I had to pay the remaining amount, which was $1,872 according to the Guardian EOBs. I paid Emmert Dental $1,862. My other dental insurance, Sun Life, paid Emmert Dental $1569.08. Since January, I've been trying to get back the overpayment of $1,559.08. Emmert Dental kept sending me bills, didn't give the claims and EOBs to Sun Life, and didn't return my calls. On September 23, Michelle, the office manager, told me she did an "audit" of my account. The "audit" showed that I should get a reimbursement of $1,485.08, which would be transferred to my bank account. But I didn't receive the payment. On September 28, Michelle said the payment "bounced back" and she checked my bank account info. It's now October 22, and I still haven't received the payment. I disagree with the audit. I should get a full reimbursement of $1,559.08. On September 30, I called the Market Square office to ask for my dental records, especially my x-rays. They said I still owed $601.00 on my account. They were supposed to mail me a form to request the records, but I haven't gotten it yet. After reading other complaints on ComplaintsBoard.com, it seems Emmert Dental has the same way of doing business. They don't accept the agreed amounts with insurance companies. They charge patients too much, like $24 for a fluoride treatment. They don't return phone calls. They don't receive payments. They don't send EOBs and forms to insurance companies or patients.

Emmert Dental Associates I was charged an amount for services that were not done

I was charged an amount for services that were not done. I called many times and left many messages, but no one called me back. They told me the bridge would cost $2500, but I didn't get a bridge and there were no price adjustments. Here are the details: I had a toothache and made an appointment on December 28. They informed me that my tooth was broken, the root was cracked, and I had an abscess that needed to be drained. After the procedure, they suggested medication in my gums for $625, and I agreed. They also offered options to replace the extraction site with a bridge, which seemed like a good idea. However, $2500 was too expensive for me. They eventually agreed to do it for $2500. I asked to pay my deductible with my debit card, but they put everything on care credit instead. I was in pain and feeling out of it, so I couldn't make a proper decision. After I healed and reviewed my finances, I called on the morning of my appointment on January 4. I spoke with a representative at 1pm and told them I didn't want the bridge. They asked if I was still coming to the appointment, and I said yes because I was in pain and wanted to make sure I was healing properly. When I checked in for my appointment at 7pm, the dentist tried to fit a mold for the bridge. I told him that I had left a message saying I didn't want the bridge, and he acknowledged it but said we still needed to make the mold. I insisted that I didn't want the bridge and that I couldn't afford it. They said it was still processing. I asked how much the processing fee was, and they said around $300. They never gave me a final balance and said they would let me know. I have Delta Dental insurance, and they were charged, but care credit was also charged. I even received a refusal notice from care credit for an application that I didn't submit. So, on January 11, I called and left a message. I called again on January 12, but no one called me back. I called again on January 22, and I got hung up on. I called back and somehow got transferred to the Bethel Park location. I spoke with an agent there and explained the situation. She told me that I should have told them that night, but I had already told them three times that I didn't want the bridge. Maybe I told them more, but I'm not sure. She put me in the office manager's voicemail, so I left another detailed message, but I didn't receive a call back.
