I just called California EDD because I cannot access information regarding my unemployment benefits claim online. I was recently laid off and am running low on money. The customer service lady began to talk to me like I was a child saying "you have had a claim before, ___name___, you know how this works, you know you have to wait to weeks to certify for benefits, it wasn't that long ago." I reminded her that it was the beginning of 2020 (which was 4 years ago) which is kina a bit of time ago. It was during a pandemic and we were all pretty anxious. She cut me off and said I wasn't allowed to sit up on my chair and talk down to her like that. I asked her to please transfer me to someone who could help me and let her know I would be taking the customer service survey after the call. She then said she was going to put a "note" on m unemployment claim. Which to me sounded like a threat to block me from claiming my unemployment benefits. Then, I heard nothing for a while, then I heard music and then I heard the sound of being hung up on. This is crazy town! I worked for the past 3.5 years and have been paying into this benefit. I legit need it to feed my child and live. Hey, EDD, I'm not working and I promise you, I have better customer service skills than this right here. I'll submit an application and help level this up. Goodness!
Claimed loss: Who knows, if she has blocked me from claiming unemployment that's 450 a week until I gain employment. I'd estimate 1,800 - 3,600.
