COMPLAINT web site (extra space probs w online pay)

its programming dept is lax in fixing the online payment system for a location i have storage at here in chicago, IL. who wants to give their private card information to some employee, a reception desk employee, sitting at the front desk of the location where their items are kept? that is dangerous to us! IS EXTRA SPACE STORAGE TRYING TO GOUGE ME AGAIN AFTER IT RAISED ITS RATE WITHOUT NOTICE ONLY 5 MONTHS AFTER MOVE IN?
extra space storage:
1. used a free month rent as a teaser, then slammed me with a large increase on the 6th month, not annual, anniversary of when i took the space (without giving me any documentation or telling me that this would happen), then
2. on numerous occasions, because its staff will not fix its web page for me to give it my payments on the web, i have had to call the office of the location where my storage locker is to give my credit card number to staff THERE, where it is not safe; and
3. still, as of 4.2010, it will not (even after i called an entire week before the payment was due and wrote to its main offices, per advice from its customer service department--who did not offer to accept my payment, btw) make it so that i am able to pay on line. their error is this:
a) i enter my email address and state name, then, there is a box whereby i should use an arrow key to choose my storage facility location.
b) that box is grayed out, which means that i am not able to pay for my account online.
that means:
4. as of today, my payment is late.
5. of course nobody is working on a sunday to take my payment!
6. why doesn't extra space storage fix its web page billing system?!?
and:
if it attaches a late fee to my payment, i will report this company to:
i) better business bureau
ii) attorney general's office of consumer fraud for my state
iii) angie's list
and anywhere else i may seek relief for its bad business procedures.
IN ADDITION, IT REQUIRES THAT YOU PAY ADDITIONAL FEES FOR INSURANCE. PUBLIC STORAGE HAS THE POLICY THAT INSURANCE IS OPTIONAL, AND ALTHOUGH I DO NOT WANT TO HIRE THAT COMPANY, IT SHOULD BE OUR CHOICE, NOT A REQUIREMENT, TO PAY FOR INSURANCE, because: EXTRA SPACE STORAGE pays insurance for its buildings anyhow.
i think, based on what i have read here and seen that it will slam me with yet another rate increase as of the 9th month anniversary of my move-in, that i will move my items somewhere else, some place that i can trust both in contract and in making it so that i can pay the company on time!
Recently I had a fire in my residence and was injured. My account fell behind and I was served with a threat of an auction of my belongings in storage and was locked out of the storage. I struggled to catch up my payments including crazy fees for the auction notice before it took place. On the day that I made the last payment I was informed that my lock had been cut off by extraspace and that I would have to secure the storage with a new lock so I did. When I checked my storage which I had been locked out of for 4 months some of the most expensive items were missing. So much has been shifted in the storage that I am still in the process of inventory. I immediately reported this to management and was told these items were never there and they have pictures of the contents when they cut the lock off. Well I too have pictures, a police report and an attorney . I am pursuing a lawsuit.Please comment.
I recently paid a $10.00 late fee for being one day late. The due date fell on a Sunday. I asked the clerk how can you charge $10.00 on an $82.00 bill. The clerk was unwavering and said you have to pay. After i contact the attorney general and better business bureau i am going to continue to discourage people from using their services. They are modern day highway robbers.
I had extraspace storage in San Bernardino CA for six months. I vacated my unit after giving appropiate notice and left the unit imaculate. They then took out another month's rent unauthorized after I had vacated. I have been fighting with them for fifty days to get my refund and still have not received payment. I am filing a lawsuit and have the local police involved. I would not do business with these people if I were you.
I have 2 units with them for a few months. Their payment system is a mess, it will show payment has been made, but it does not credit it to my account, instead they attempt to bill me for late charges. This has happened a few times so far but they have fixed it. Nonetheless I do not feel I should go through this every month and will be closing my account with them. Be careful if you rent here.
I would not recommend Extra Space Storage! I would like to know why my rental fees have increased by 70% per month. I rented a small 5X10 heated indoor and temperature controlled with life access for $93.00 per-month. I am now paying $154.00 with no heat, or temperature controlled throughout the summer months. I would like a adjustment to my account for not having heat or temperature controlls. I also have signed a contract written agreement with Extra Space Storage for the amount of $93.00 for my unit. On Extra Space Storage's Website it states for a ( 5' x 10' Storage Unit

$93) I feel the manager Anika H at store 6102 who cares about the numbers, money, and clearly not the customers. It's obviously she hasn't not researched customers complaints and allegations. Furthermore Anika H has denied my request for credit to my account and adjusting my rental fees to the original contract of $93.00 per-month. I would like the store 6102 to be investigated for fraud, faults advertisement, breach of contract, and poor management of Anika H. There's approximant of 80 empty units due to customers relocating due to 30%, 40% ,60% and 70% until fees based personal requests from manager Anika H.
