Dropped off car due to oil leak 3/16/24 to Firestone 4847 Reed Rd Columbus, OH. was told they ran a die test and the oil pan gasket and timing cover gasket needed replaced. The estimate for this along with an oil chane, replacement of the pressure sensor and detection with dye would be $3,332.15. when asked why so much they said it takes alot of time to repace 2 gaskets. they said the car would be done within the next 2 days. immediately after I was given the est. I was called again by Paige who asked if I could pay for the pressure sensor up front. I advised that I have been a customer at that location for over 20 years and never asked to do this. She said she would let the manager know. For the next week I called asking if the vehicle was done because I had surgery scheduled for 3/22 and was given excuses as the person doing my car called off, then the engine was still torn apart and not done yet. I finally picked up the car finally on 3/25. Just after driving 56 miles the leak started gain but much worse than before. I called Firestone and took it back. They said they would do a dye test (which they claimed was done initially). They came back that the leak was from the rear differential. the oil was coming from the front and they should know that motor oil doesnt run through the differentials. they advised me to take it to a dealer which I did. After paying the dealer an additional $413.00 to pressure was the underneath and engine from all of the spewing oil they advised that there was too much pressure in the crank case. My only option was a new motor which is mor than the vehicle was worth. Had the Firestone locatio, n had a knowledgable mechanic they would have been able to detect this and not have charged me $3,332.00. Now I have lost the amount paid to you AND the $413.00 to the dealer and forced to purchase a new vehicle. I feel becuse my husband and I are older that they took advantage of us for repairs that should not havve been recommended and over charging labor.,
Claimed loss: Firestone repairs/services that did not fix the issue $3,332.00Dealer - Pressure wash to remove all the oil from the issue not being corrected by Firestone and to run dye test again $413.00
Desired outcome: Refund of no less than the $3,322.00 as the vehicle cannot be repaired and i had no option but to pay for a new motor that was $12,000.00 OR but a new car which i had to do.
