I was contacted by a FAB representative claiming there were offering a AED 2 500 promo on a new FAB credit card, with only a AED 100 minimum required spend. A Credit Card which was advertised to me as free for life I should add.
Upon receiving my Credit Card, I was told I also needed to now upon a FAB current account and an ISave account as well in order to avail the promo.
After dealing with 2 different agents to try and get this sorted, I have to go into a branch to finally open my current account. I double checked that there was no minimum balance on the current account with the 1 agent over the phone and confirmed there weren’t.
The account opening process took almost 3 weeks of following up with customer service!
I could now open my ISave account, and deposit AED 10 which is what the agent I was dealing with informed me I need.
A few weeks later, I get charged on my Credit Card of AED 1 575 for a membership for the card.
I speak to the agent over WhatsApp saying this weas never discussed with me and would like to cancel the card as I would have never agreed to this!
The agent simply replied that he though the other agent I dealt with had “mentioned it”…….
I call in customer care with the same complaint, only for them to say that the card was clearly advertised on the website as having charges – Even though this was never brought up by the agent.
Next thing I start get AED25 deductions on my current account for low balance. I contact the agent over WhatsApp yet again and every time I get “let me check and get back to you”, only to never hear anything.
I call into customer care to understand why, only for them to explain there is a AED 3 000 minimum balance. Something I had confirmed with the agent that there was none before opening!
The ISave account advertises itself as giving 5.25% pa interest, but got about HALF that! Thank goodness I only invested the funds for just a month, as that would have been a large opportunity cost for me...
Regarding the AED 2 500 promotional bonus I was entitled to get, I again followed up with the agent on WhatsApp since October 2023, only to hear a different story every time. First, it’s that it should reflect in my account for sure end of December 2023 or beginning of January 2024. Then it’s another 30 extra days. Then all of a sudden, they have a 150 days deadline in which to pay! We are beyond that now and I still haven’t received a single penny!
I have been following up with the agent since the 20th of February and just get ZERO responses. Tried to contact him again today on the 13th of March 2024 but again nothing.
Customer care informed me last time that they cannot confirm the promotion and need to check with my agent, so I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
There is absolutely no transparency, no accountability in any of this and do not see why I would ever consider doing business at all with First Abu Dhabi Bank if this is how you treat your customers.
This is just unacceptable!
