Florida Power & Light [FPL] mountain of debris left in my backyard

Horrible customer service contact today with reprsentative rude and demeaning. Right after Dorian passed FPL came into my yard and cut down almost every tree and then left it. I called the city of Ormond Beach and they said FPL was responsible for getting the debris to the street for pick up. Last week I called FPL and was told FPL would come and move the debris to the street. Today I was told thay would not send anyone to help get the debris to the street. Some of the tree trunks are as big as I am. I'm 70 years old and can't affod pay someone to remove the debris to the street. Be wary of letting FPL into your yard b/c they leave a mess!

Florida Power & Light [FPL] utilities

I would like to file a complaint. I had a $74 balance from the previous residence. I wanted to have electricity turned on in my new place. They were asking for a $617 deposit stating that they required a two month average cost of utilities . My electric bill is only $120 a month. I paid some of it and now they have shut me off because I can't pay the deposit there is no way any human person can pay a deposit of that much money.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] Unethical behavior

FPL removed meter for for unit 917 in Winston Tower 300 building 2 weeks ago in a middle of the hottest month in Florida. They removed it without any courtesy calls to notifying us about the issue before removing meter. They claim that in Feb 2019 they mailed a letter to us notifying that there is defective meter can which has to be fixed or replaced. My husband and I had retired and at that time we were moving from state of Michigan to New York and lived between 3 states: NY, NJ, FL.
FPL did not mailed that letter via certified mail and we have not received that letter at all. Now they are saying they removed the meter because it creates a danger for us. Well, why they never called us, their loyal and paying on time customer and asked if we received that letter and verbally explained the problem? They just went to meter room and removed a meter for our unit. They left us without power and air conditioner for already 2 week. Lackelly, nobody lives there yet. Apartment is under full renovation and just passed electrical inspection for the inside. Meter can is attached to the wall in the meter room which is located in common area of the building. I asked my contractor to see if his electritial can fix what needs to be fixed. They needed to ask management to let them in and also management told them that they cannot do any work there because meter room does not belong to our apartment. So, since August 21st I had been calling every day to FPL customer service and Service Planning department and what I hear is just "mam you have to call an inspector and only then we can put meter back". But I cannot call inspector because that is not my property. My apartment building of 46 years old consists of 500 apartments and maintenance of the building never heart such as issue from any owners at the building. I asked FPL to provide me with the letter they claim was mailed to us - they do not have it. I asked FPL to let me know how many units in our building had the same issue, so I can ask how they handle it - they cannot do it.
I asked FPL to elevate my issue to the highest authority and asked that they give me a call. I wanted to ask them how they could turn off electricity without any calls to customers. Why nobody calling us, knowing that we are without power for 2 week.
That is humanly impossible to live apartment without air conditioning without notifying owner about that. What if we lived there with small children, or elderly parents?
Sorry, for a long letter, but I do not know what else to do. I am going around with FPL for so long time and looks like they are just "robots" who are answering calls.
I cannot provide any evidence, because they cannot provide us with letter they sent; because there no email exchanges and conversations were over the phone only.
But, they have everything in their system. I asked to provide me with the scrip and the said it cannot be done without an attorney.
Please help if you can.
Sincerely, Emilia Karasik
[protected]

p.s. I worked for Security company and we would never turn off security system without calling customers several time after sending a letter.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] deposit offers no hope for fixed income

They want a 460 dollar deposit to start services for someone who never had their service before. They offer no waivers for the elderly or those on a fixed income..That is a ridiculous price to charge people who are living on social security. I know it's a buisness but it just seems morally and ethically wrong. Noone else charges that much just to start service
If you cant afford it then they shut you. Not right to do to a elderly person in the Florida heat just because they dont have 463 dollars to pay a ridiculous deposit. It should be capped at 100 dollars deposit like most electric company

Florida Power & Light [FPL] tree trimming

We hired this contractor Wilson JEANVIL (786-521-8568) to trim tree limbs that were growing over the top of the house but fell victim to fraud. We had agreed on the price of $3700. The first payment to be $1500 at the end of the first workday and the balance payable on the following Sunday upon completion of the work.
However, as soon as the work began on Sunday 08/04/2019 he forbade that we took pictures of the trucks, particularly of the FPL contractors' logo on the doors.
This unlicensed contractor kept asking for a larger payment than agreed - a thousand dollars for this and again a thousand dollars for that making these multiple requests for money in the early phases and during the activity.
This contractor assured us permits and inspections are not required.
This contractor gave a verbal contract only.  He refuses to put terms in writing or issue a written detailed invoice.
This contractor does not have proof of insurance.
This contractor only works weekends or after-hours.
This contractor asks to make checks payable to his person or "cash" rather than a company name and threatens to stop further work unless paid in full up front. He flipflopped with promises and skipped work we agreed on.
This contractor's advertisements, vehicles, cards, and so on do not display a license number.
This contractor uses a bucket truck and mulcher that belong to a subcontractor of FP&L. (See photos).  His brother drives one of these trucks.  It is likely that the workers who were in uniform with hard hats from FP&L were supposed to go clearing power lines, and were clocking overtime that day.
A check of $2500 was written and handed over at the end of the first workday but as soon as i found out from his dad - and online that the contractor was unlicensed and uninsured, i decided, upon the advice of my bank the next morning, to stop payment of the check within 24 hours for fear of being part of a criminal activity.
Finally, we called a licensed contractor to finish the job. We begged Wilson Jeanvil to stop coming on our property as he was appearing until late into the night. We urge anyone who sees this sort of activity take place to call the police who can arrest him and his crew for illegally running a business without a license. If you hire an unlicensed, uninsured contractor you are liable for aiding and abetting in a crime and if a laborer injures himself on your property the property owner is liable and can be sued; even if the contractor cannot sue for financial loss if you don't pay. The Florida Supreme court has ruled that unlicensed contractors cannot sue if a client refuses to pay part of all of the agreement, oral or written.

Having talked to a lawyer, we were advised to never have someone start a contracting job without a written contract stipulating in detail what will be done and in what amount of time. If debris will be taken away for an extra cost or if the clean-up is included in the price.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] continuous power disruptions

Any one contacting FPL is wasting there time. The one star rating they received is proof positive that NO ONE CARES. I called Thursday regarding power disruptions that are becoming more frequent. The FPL rep reads from a script and hopes you will hang up and accept their excuses.
So I pressed further and then she said FPL would investigate and call me back within 5 days. I received a call Friday Night at 8:30 PM. The message said if I am having any more problems I should call back. Saturday morning I called back. They had NO NOTES about what they investigated and closed the ticket. Meaning: They did NOTHING and that's all folk's.

The power supplied by FPL is no better than a 3rd world country. I have spoken to dozens of people where I live in Vero Beach who all are experiencing the same outage issues. Friday when I went to the gym, zero wind, zero rain and the power went out FIVE TIMES.

FPL is providing a sub standard product and when your A/C blows up they do not accept responsibility. FPL has no problems, they are a monopoly. Any problems that are caused by sub standard FPL power are strictly yours. No help is coming.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] tree trimming/ killing the trees

My name is Rosa Pasarin. I spoke a very long time ago with NIcholas Sardina from FPL and with Vladimir from Lewis tree service co- post hurricane Irma about some trees that were cut incorrectly by FPL after the hurricane.
I had mentioned to them that 3 trees- one being a large palm tree was cut so much that FPL pretty much killed it. I knew it was dying because you CAN NOT cut the center of a palm tree. That is basic arborist knowledge. Once that happens the palm tree ends up dying.
When I talked to them about this they advised me to wait and see if it would die in case of some chance that it would survive. I knew it would die but they forced me into no other choice.

So, now many months later.. it is in fact dead. Aside from having a large dead palm tree on the outside corner of my house.. my real preoccupation is that it will fall...and will either fall on my house or worse yet on a pedestrian on the sidewalk or a car driving by. It is right on the corner of a very busy intersection.
There is also a daycare with very small children across the street who walk through there every morning and afternoon.
The dead trees are big and a liability and I have been trying to prevent a possible catastrophe for the city. I think it is time someone started to pay attention.

My question is: what will FPL do about this since it was FPL that decided to cut my trees incorrectly? There are also 2 other trees next to my palm tree that died because they were simply overcut. I cannot afford to stump and cut 3 trees of this size and I shouldn't have to since I didn't do the damage. Not only that they can endanger passer-by's. I'm pretty sure that FPL nor the city would want that.
The excessive cutting was completely unnecessary. You will see that the trees were overcut and were't that near the lines.

And this is not the first time this happens. They also did it a year ago to another palm tree of mine but I never reported it b/c it was smaller. I still cost me pretty much to dispose of it due to FPL's fault. Again, the excessive cutting was completely unnecessary.

Please let me know what I can do.
I'm also contacting the city as I have waited pretty long now for this to be resolved.

thank you so much,
Rosa Pasarin

Florida Power & Light [FPL] frequent power interruption

To Whom It May Concern,

I have been an FPL customer for many years, and never have I had the unique problem that I hope to solve with this email.

1. Every time that there is a Hurricane (as low as Cat 1) we lose power right away and are the last set of houses to receive power back. At first I thought that this was no big deal, and that the fact that my area is the last to receive power back was just coincidence. The most recent example of this was Hurricane Irma in 2017.

2. On December 31st 2018, out of nowhere the power went out in my area and came back before midnight.

3. Earlier this week (7/23), we lost power at approx 4:40PM. due to some rain, and did not get power back until 11:30PM; we had to dispose of some food in the refrigerator because of it outage.

In all 3 instances, the area marked on the attached/pasted image is the only area affected. Houses across the street or surroundings, either did not lose power at all (for situation 2 & 3) or had power restored days after the Hurricane (situation 1), but our strip was again the odd ball and we received power weeks after.

It seems that the only constant to either lose power often or have it restored late is the area where I live, which marked on the image pasted below (also attached); I am hoping that this email will be read by someone who could take action and resolve whatever issue is associated with my area, and our power service is as reliable as it is for those in our surrounding areas.

Thank you,
-An FPL Customer

Florida Power & Light [FPL] complaint about power outage

My mother's power went out on july 23, 2019 at 3:00 pm and they have sent many crews and it is 1:00 am and nothing has been done to restore her power! The only answer I get is that now they have to find a "specialized crew" that can handle the problem. That the power will not be restore until 5:00 am. What kind of "village idiots electricians" does fpl have working for them that they have to send 5 or 6 different crews that cannot restore a power line that was knock down by a simple july storm! This is ridiculous!

Last friday 12/07/2019 our electrical service was interrupted because a fpl contractor needed to perform some works of voltage test or replace a voltage transformer. But as a business, we never received any notification and when this happens we were opened. This inconvenient cause us an estimated sales loss at $ 4000, in addition to this loss of us $ 3000...

Florida Power & Light [FPL] customer service people

It is almost impossible to speak to reasonable and helpful people in FPL, I needed information about an old account because I was afraid someone had used my Social Security in another address and the incompetent and inefficient people that FPL has in West Texas is absolutely incapable to provide help at all.
I spoke first with "Liz with ID # 4218" and then with another more incompetent supervisor "Letty with ID # 4234".
I was told by these inept women that FPL does not provide information, even though I GAVE THEM MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, MY FULL NAME, MY ADDRESS, AND EVERY PERSONAL INFORMATION REQUESTED...AND, I TOLD THEM I NEEDED TO KNOW IF SOMEONE ELSE USED MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER FRAUDULENTLY...HOWEVER, THESE STUPID WOMEN DENIED ME OF MY RIGHT TO KNOW MY OWN RIGHTFUL INFORMATION. I cannot believe "Letty" is even a supervisor! She needs to go back and keep washing dishes in some kitchen instead of dealing with customers. She wouldn't even let me speak, and she arrogantly would scream over my voice, in spite, I asked several times to have the courtesy to listen to the customer.

Thank God, I was able to call back and speak with someone in Spanish, and the difference in customer service and efficiency is of 180 degrees. This lady, not only gave the information required, but she was kind and humble...MAYBE SHE SHOULD TRAIN YOUR ENGLISH SUPERVISORS?

Call me if you need to speak to me.

Thanks,

Flor Cruz

Florida Power & Light [FPL] billing/budget program

Made a complaint last month...have heard nothing. What is the point of making a complaint on here if nothing is done?! Over the past 3+ months we have replaced all the window with energy efficient double pane ones, double pane energy efficient patio door, new storm door, new AC unit, new HVAC throughout the house...and the bill is the same! Another question, how can FPL charge a customer for being a customer?! Just viewed this months bill, $8.28 for being a customer?! Are you freaking kidding me?!?!?!?!?! A franchise charge?!?!?!?! We get charge because YOU/FPL are a freaking franchise?!?!?!? Not to mention that our refrigerator went out because only 1 of the 2 powerlines that come into the house was working. That has been 2+weeks, FPL hooks us up to our neighbors and then sends a letter that it will be about another 4 weeks for them to fix it...oh, and they are subcontracting that work out...are you freaking kidding me?!?!?!?! A coworker had the same thing a few days later happen, and she said that day 3 FPL trucks were there and had a new line put in. Soooo, because we are no a minority ours takes a back seat?!?!?!? If anyone reads this and knows of any class action law suit against FPL, please text me [protected].

Florida Power & Light [FPL] customer service

In the overall zeal to automate and reduce staff, FPL has stripped so many employees from their company, it is impossible to get anyone on the phone who has any level of competence, common sense, or Critical thinking.

If you call for anything outside the list of problems they have listed, you are out of luck and may as well begin to plan on being forever frustrated. The Automated system is actually less intuitive than the employees who can do very little, or answer any questions. If it's not about billing, Opening a new account, or relocating an account, they do not wish to speak to you and have set it up this way.

Over time, when technology itself obsoletes the company and we are all able to generate our own power, there will be a mass exodus of customers, that have resented how they were treated and have never forgotten. As opposed to being friendly and blindly profit driven, it will eventually destroy this company

Florida Power & Light [FPL] billing dispute

My number is [protected]

I paid the June invoice June 11. I received several online notices to say my bill was still due, and then past due.

I paid the same amount again June 18.
I received a notice June 19 to say my electricity was cut-off for non-payment.

June 19 I paid the same amount again plus a re-connection fee!
What is going on? My bank account shows these payments have been taken from my account. I want my extra payments returned and reimbursement for the re-connection fee.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] employee

Your employees are extremely racist! Which most people know, but when your employees post how racist they are on social media its a whole other level!

Photos attached below.

Employee's name is Michael Ochoa. He is a racist and should not be allowed to post such hate on social media. He is representing a very prominent corporation and must be disciplined for such disgusting behavior. If he is not, I will report this to every news outlet in FLORIDA!

It's disgraceful and shameful that FPL employee's behave in such a manner.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] billing

My nephew is on FPL's paperless billing system and uses my email for billing because he's always out of town. He gives me cash up front and I pay the bill as soon as I receive FPL's request of payment due via my email. They don't allow you to overpay, or in other words pay in advance online (which we'll be doing by check via regular mail from now on) and sometimes I get a current bill and sometimes I get a final notice with $5 late charge. They're very inconsistent with their online billing to the point where it feels like a scam to collect late charges. I've searched my emails for all FPL bills and they all coincide with my payments.

Florida Power & Light [FPL] demanding deposit after 5 years of service

I have been with FPL for over 5 years always pay monthly. Do to pay period adjustments I have used the payment extension that they offer to you. Do not use this! It allows them to say your payments have been late! I have not paid late! I called to ask for assistance they want the deposit by 7-5 -2019 or will cut off my electric? Why in June, as we get into the hot months the bills are higher and they add this, This is poor business practice and they know you have no choice. When I first got FPL electric service no deposit was charged, what gives them the right to now charge it to my account in mid summer. I am disappointed on how this was handled and it is a shame that we have no choice, we have to use FPL. It feels like a monopoly to me!

Florida Power & Light [FPL] clearing of trust companies overgrown lot

I live near a wooded lot that is extremely overgrown and has LIVE wires running through it from the back of my house to across the street to the neighbors house. I've been complaining about this for over 5 years! They came once and cut the top of a palm tree off but never cleared the pepper trees or did any trimming whatsoever. They are intruding on my property and killing my fruit trees and taking over what yard. Not more than 200 feet down my road they cleared the whole power line where there are NO houses. What gives?

Florida Power & Light [FPL] no power and no reasonable restoration time

Called to report an outage and Wilda Leslie (supervisor) was not able to give me any information or support. I called to report but the system doesn't show any updates. I called to get an estimate (before EOD is not acceptable as I have 2 babies and work from home) so I requested to speak to someone - something I quickly regretted - Robo assistant was way more friendly and clear than the human being who picked up the phone - who left me even more frustrated and still without power. FPL you should look at improving your infra as well as better-training your customer support staff

Florida Power & Light [FPL] new pole placement

Your team installed a new pole on my property directly in front of my driveway area when I asked if they could place the new pole on the other side of the existing pole, which is a utility area, they said they would call me to discuss. However, I arrived home to find the pole directly in front of my yard, no one called me and no one took any consideration to how horrible this placement is. I am extremely upset over this. This will reduce the value of my home significantly and I am requesting that you come back tomorrow to move the pole to the other side. I am adding photos below. Well I tried to add photos below but you will only accept under 5mb. Everything about this is anti-user-friendly.
