bad customer service!!
First off its almost impossible to talk to a person. The automated system keeps you going in circles even when you hit 0 or ask for a operator it tells you its not a valid selection.I have had 2 accounts for almost 4 years.
I have arrangements on 1 of my accounts. This is only the second time ever and have paid those arrangements earlier than due. The other is current and never had so much as a arrangement set up on it or even been a day late.90% of all my payments to them have been 2 weeks early! Now they added a 302 deposit adjustment on my bill due in 2 weeks.
If I could pay the 300 I could have paid the 150 bill without the arrangements. I have had power in 7 states and this is the only one I have EVER had issues with. This is a absolutely horrible company and customer service is the worst.
They would not even accept smaller payments to make the deposit up. They would only give me a number for a government assistance office to help pay the deposit.

Power outages when ever it rains or rhe wind blows
For over 10 years, we have had power going in and out every time it rains or the wind blows. If it happens 3 times in a row quickly, it stays out for hours. The power line sizzles or flames up. FPL has not trimmed this line ever since we have lived here.
There are over 50 yards of vegetation and tree limbs on the feeder line that provide power to our home. The problem is not on our property, so only FPL has access. We have been told many times that it would be taken care of over the years, and the problem has only gotten worse. FPL has come out more than 80 times, and each time they come out, they say the job is too big and they cancel the ticket. Now the excuse is they don't have time because of the hurricane.
Desired outcome: Fix our power clear the lines

Electricity bill/ now wanting deposit
We have been paying a godly amount of almost 800 to 1000 a month in electricity since Hurricane Ian for yrs and we asked for an extension this past month cause we can barely get by and now they wanna add on a deposit when we pay our bill. We can’t help when our money comes in and the cost of living is ridiculous. I am disabled with DISH and FPL keeps sucking you dry. If you ask for an extension it means your struggling with high cost of living so how does charging for a deposit help the situation when you are struggling to make an 800.00 month payment. Something smells.
Desired outcome: Not paying a deposit that I can not afford on top of an 800.00 monthly bill

when you call F P L. you go through a phone maze. the automated system can't take your info, sends you in circles. getting a rep is impossible
When i get a rep does not speak English. 3 transfers. none spoke english well.
can't get to my account online. had to escalate it. no body knows anything. just transfer you from person to person.
Bills get higher and higher. no customer service , constantly raisingb rates., only benefiting F P L.
how do they expect people on limited incomes to pay such high bills.
I'm a senior heart patient , do they want me to die in the heat, cause i can't afford the bill?
very greedy company!
Desired outcome: contact from a english speaking rep

My name is Karen Lages and back in February I had to make 2 payments one thru my insurance and second one thru PayPal for the amount of $6.45 I have tried to explain this matter to the company but got nowhere. I'm still getting charge for the $6.45 and late charges and it did go throug. Your Company doesn't seem to understand this. Now this month my bill was supposed to be $55.and change but it's over $77. Can you please look into this. Account number [protected]. Please let me know

Damage done to my meter
I received a letter from FPL saying I have a loose inside load clip in the can meter. I live in a condo that has a meter room for all of the meters, which is kept locked at all times. The only ones that go in there are FPL employees to read the meters. As it turns out the clip is broken. Why do I have to pay to get a permit and have an electrician fix it, when FPL is responsible? Feel FPL should be responsible for the expense.
Desired outcome: Have FPL fix the damaged clip and not charge me for the repairs.

FPL customer service
I am trying to get my payment date shifted to the 16th because I dont get paid until the 16th. Mid Month. So if I pay on the 16th it cost me $5.00 each time. I have been trying to get a LIVE HUMAN BEING on the phone at FPL for over 2 weeks and it is impossible! I only get the same horrible useless recording each time I call...no matter what number I dial...

I enrolled in budget billing in May of this year and noticed that my electric bill was starting to get higher. I called them about it and they said my bill would have been $70 dollars but because of budget billing they charged me based off my peak usage even though I don't consume that amount of electricity. I payed my electric bill in December of this month for a $180.60 and thought that would be it with high electric bills but to my surprise when I logged into the FPL app I saw a bill for $330 due in January. When I called them about it they claimed that because I unenrolled in budget billing they are charging me for differed charges. How they come up with these charges I have no idea because I never saved a dollar with budget billing infact they owe me for charging me higher electricity bills even when I only used lesser amounts I still had to pay the peak amount.
Desired outcome: Reimbursement

Billing
We have been customers of FPL since long before they switched from Gulf power to FPL. (Which has been felt in a negative way by many!) This company is one of the most crooked, greedy, relentless companies I’ve ever dealt with in my entire life. They have an almost non existent customer service, they shut your power off the SECOND it becomes a past due amount. Now my bank card was shut down so my auto payment didn’t come out. Because of that they are requesting an addition 874 deposit! These people are beyond insane and inhumane. I am mind blown at how terrible they treat their customers, not to mention the crazy high power bills and the bills being due a few days sooner each month making your due date range all over the place.
Claimed loss: We are scraping as it is and are now supposed to come up w almost 900 more dollars!
Desired outcome: For them to quit coming after us for more money. We are already getting hit w 45$ each time it is disconnected.

Power outages all the time
We are located at 14413 SW 38 LN. Miami FL 33175.
We are sick and tired every time we get few drops of rain and a minimum wind
of 5mph the stupid power goes down. We moved to this area is 2018 thinking
it was a new area and that we will not have so manny power issues well we were wrong is evident that FPL has crappy equipment that you are not doing the proper maintenance and we are suffering with the replacements of our electrical equipments wich by the way FPL should be responsible for reimbursement.
You are always raising the cost of electricity and you don't take care of your equipment.
DO SOMETHINH NOW. We are very upset.
Sincerely'
Gisela Perez

Posthumous refund
I have been trying for a year to get a refund of $68.43 from Florida power and light. I am the executor and sole aire to my stepfather's estate. He passed away in 2021. I have made 7 phone calls to FPL customer service and went through menu hell to get a person on the phone who promised the matter would be handled and apologized. I don't know why this is such a daunting task to mail a letter from Florida to California, nobody can explain what the problem is. Is it customary for FPL to steal money from the dead? As of this date Dec 7 2023 I still don't have the refund.
Claimed loss: $68.43
Desired outcome: Refund

Ticket # 55677
My complaint to be clear is with customer service only not the ones who finally installed the street light today that I initially called about on 9/22/23 when the last streetlight fell. When I would call about the status of the streetlight every time I was treated very rudely and given the automated “ it will be 40 days” spiel. They also had not listened at all to me and 2 of the times I called when I was checking the status whoever I spoke to had it down that I was calling to initiate a new streetlight. On a scale of 1-10 I give customer service a 0. The last time I had my husband call and he was given the proper department to speak to who told him that customer service keeps misinforming customers of the turnaround time which is longer due to waiting for parts and other issues. Please inform customer service of this so customers like myself won’t be treated in the was I was treated.
Desired outcome: Retrain customer service.
High bill complaint acct 56596-81331
In my office complex located at 100 Waler Way, St. Augustine, FL 32086 we had Burney's Septic come out to pump the drainfield on September 13, 2023. I am not sure if it's coincidental, but right after that pumping, the electric usage jumped 2.5 times what it had normally been for years. It continues to be consumed at that high rate. Nov 2023, kWh Usage =...

I moved into my house around July 18th. 2023 and I still have not received a bill. I have called about 20 times, (Waited on hold for unknow hours) and still have not received a bill. I told them I should be billed in a timely fashion and the response was just that we can put you on a payment plan. Since I haven't received a bill yet there is no way for me to see the usage which in turn doesn't allow to adjust the electrical usage. I also am a senior citizen and could not possibly pay a bill for a twelve month period all at once. I have to go on a payment plan they told me which is not fair because if they billed me correctly it wouldn't be needed, I need to see the monthly usage since I never received a bill to make adjustments.
Claimed loss: maybe increased electrical usage since I have no way to know the cost to make adjustments
Desired outcome: to get my bill
Solar representative
I am writing this complaint because I spend too much money with Fpl. First of my concrete has NOT been repaired. This all due to groundwork. I need my concrete fixed asap not at your leisure. Second complaint your employee at the solar program Jose is a rude and out of place. I have never had to deal with a incompetent and combative person on the phone. I recommend you check your recorded lines to see what I am talking about. I called [protected] @1629hrs. Today is 11/16/2023. who gave him the right to argue with me about my personal business? I am not happy at all. I need this looked into asap. And I will call every day need be and write a bunch of unsatisfying reviews in all social media.
Desired outcome: get rid of him!!!
no phones were taken but i can show the concrete hole another time
Net metering
We have had solar panels installed for nearly 3 months and still can't get the net metering account established. After being repeatedly put on hold, transferred holding againg, we'll call you back (never did). Calling again repeat the process over and over TOTALLY fed up.
You have been getting FREE power from us for several months. Pretty obvious your profiting from our investment and are not going to change.
Claimed loss: You tell me 5495 `1st. Stree St. Augustine, Fl 32080
Desired outcome: Call me back and get Net Metering established Susan Fiore
Phone system
Shame on FPL for not letting people talk to a live rep and with the phone system it avoids at all cost to not let get through to a live rep. I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to get through. I did manage to get through to a rep and I have no Idea how I fooled the system. But once I got threw I spent another hour being transferred from rep to rep to rep. I made sure that every rep memo the account about the phone system. FPL only cares about making money and not the customers when it gets down to it. Shame on FPL I give it a rating of a (F) in customer service. Failed customer service .
(F) Grade
Claimed loss: loss of 4 hours on Phone and the time it took to type this
Desired outcome: Fix the phone system to allow customer to talk to a live agent easier. Care more about the customer and not FPLS bottom line.
no service. higher and higher bills.. i 'm alone/ hav s appliances. pool pump short hrs. don't use over head lights. they said meter is fine/ $244.00 month is o months. we call should use generators or something. time to stop getting ripped off
Power account was closed by fpl due to a mistake in address. No credit, no shame!!!
Early this month, FPL closed my account due to a mistake in opening a new account. Basically, FPL used my service address for the new account, and then closed mine without any notice. I just realized weeks later that I was getting letters addressed to a man (who is not me) with non-payment warnings and FINAL NOTICE to disconnect. I was really worried and called next day.
After hours trying to get a hold of a human representative, FPL told me about the mistake and confirmed my account would be restored. I requested a credit due to this mistake. Since last year they charged me a late fee for a mistake a made (with my auto pay), I asked them to give me back the fee or some sort of credit. Nothing! Of course, they are a horrible monopoly! They can do whatever they want. There is no option. It is very abusive. New high rates... I make a mistake, I get a penalty. FPL makes a mistake, they do not give a credit!
Desired outcome: $50 Credit for my next billing
Electric bill
A class action lawsuit needs to be filed against this company. I am being overcharged and I have no recourse. I have a vacant home that I inherited down in Miami. I had the power turned on as I do here and there to get the house cleaned good and update it and then I turned the service off the next month, well this particular time I turn the service on and I received a small bill for about $66 fine, but I decided to leave it on for another month this time, as I’m deciding if I should put the house up for sale, now I have the next bill for almost $700 with the same amount of electricity used. I am furious, I called FPL to try and resolve this and they claim that the price has went up to $7.13 a day, This is not right, and they refuse budge on the bill.
Desired outcome: This bill needs to be reduced or a class action law suit needs to be started.
did you leave the lights or anything on during the month at that house?

Read full review of Florida Power & Light [FPL]Autry Circle, Port Charlotte Florida. Street light shining in bedroom.
Good morning. This is the second attempt to have a street light removed from the end of Autry Circle in South Gulf Cove, Port Charlotte Florida. The street light was added earlier this year and I immediately notified FPL that is was constantly on 24-7 and that it was shining directly into our bedroom window. They came out and rectified the issue of it running day and night, but failed to put up some type of shield on the side facing my bedroom window. I have added blinds, but the light is still very bright and is interfering with sleep. Would you please have someone either remove the light entirely or at least have some sort of shield placed that will stop the light from shining directly into my bedroom. Please and thank you very much. I was hoping the problem would have been resolved before I returned to Florida, but it is still a HUGE issue for us. Thank you very much. Julie Nostrand
Desired outcome: Remove the street light completely. But would appreciate it greatly if it can not be removed to have a shield installed that would stop the light from shining directly into my bedroom. It is extremely bright and annoying.
