Terrible health insurance company. They hide behind words that cannot be objectively interpreted. I would discourage anyone looking for a main health insurance policy, and probably supplemental as well. Health insurance
In September of 2021 I contacted them regarding a gap health insurance policy to cover me from Nov.1 2021 to Oct. 31 2022. Just until Medicare started on Nov.1, 2022 as I was then eligible. I even had to qualify for the policy as I’m in extremely good health and qualified for a better rate because of it. Knowing that Medicare was “kicking” in on Nov.1 2022 I called into Freedom Life 2 weeks before Nov.1 to remind them that my policy ends Oct.31so don’t bill me for November. They assured me they wouldn’t and that the policy ends The end of the month. Sure enough they took over $600.00 from my checking on November 3! I’ve called 13 times over the last 4 months and was told that they would refund my money. I’ve since received checks totaling $526.10 and they owe me $77.95. In January the girl told me that her manager Dave assured her that I was owed the money and that the last check was mailed for the $77.95 on January 19 to the same address. If we don’t receive it we must wait 30 days before another can be issued to replace the lost one. We waited the 30 days, no check! Called again today and the have to send it for another review! They took my money without authorization for coverage that had ended! Help!
Desired outcome: All I want is the money they owe me back. Forget the time wasted and stress they’ve caused.
Funeral claim that teyrejected
I was asking my cousin if she had a funeral policy, then she said no my sister.
You must take out a policy for me, I took one with Freedom Life after she gave me a copy of her id which means she gave consent. I was paying this policy every month. I've got my proof, my cousin died on 07 October 2021 and I was submitted my claim to Freedom Life. They saying its as easy 1, 2, 3 to submit a claim. I was shocked when they informed me it will take 14 days to verify. On Monday 25 Oct 2021 someone from Freedom Life called me cross questioning me about my relationship with the deceased. They even called my mother and asked her a lot of questions too. They even called Home Affairs to verify if the deceased death was registered. Today 28 October 2021 I received messages my claim documents was accepted and they are processing my claim. When I called Freedom Life they told me a Supervisor will call me. Thereafter received a call my claim was rejected because I took the policy out not my cousin and that I nominated myself as beneficiary. I was the one who paid the funeral policy and she was aware of the Policy. So I was suppose to nominate P.M. Bezuidenhout as beneficiary. Why did they not call her when we took the policy in the 1st place? I am very much disappointed in this Freedom Life and would like matter to be investigated. My policy was up to date. I am pleading for assistance please.

I have just received another ridiculous medical bill - over 1 year from service for an MRI.
Freedom Life approved a $255 charge for READING the MRI. Today, I received a bill for over $1000 for the facility charge. Of the original $1400 charge, Freedom Life paid $185.
With this bill, I have now paid over $8700 in premiums, almost $1400 for prescriptions, and been billed almost $5000 for uncovered expenses.
So with Freedom Life, 2017 cost me over $15, 000 in out of pocket costs, while Freedom Life paid a total of $2487.75 in claims. Freedom Life paid less than 18% of billed costs, while I paid almost 46%, before my premium costs.
There could not possibly be a worst health care partner in America ! I can't afford to stay alive with you people. Thanks for NOTHING
Health insurance
When I signed up for insurance with my employer I was told that my labs would be covered. I am a diabetic and require blood work every 3 months. It is the same tests every 3 months and as I said I was told. Of course we cover the labs. Not once did anyone mention only up to a certain amount. I am now stuck with a bill over $200.00 that I have to pay out of pocket. If anyone has Freedom Life please check your policy well and don't take their word as correct.
