Mixed Experiences with GameFly Holdings
As I delve into the reviews of GameFly Holdings, it's evident that customers have had mixed experiences with the service. While some users appreciate the concept of renting games instead of buying them, others have faced significant challenges. Complaints range from slow shipping times and poor customer service to receiving scratched discs that rendered the games unplayable. It seems that the company struggles with maintaining a consistent level of service quality, leading to frustration among customers. Despite some positive feedback, the overall sentiment leans towards dissatisfaction and a lack of reliability. Potential customers should approach GameFly Holdings with caution and manage their expectations accordingly.
With every blockbuster and hollywood video going bankrupt
With every blockbuster and hollywood video going bankrupt and closing there are not any retail stores renting games anymore. I signed up and they do have a wide selection but the games I really wanted are still in my que. I will update and let you know if I ever get them. Good site
Love, love, LOVE GameFly!
Love, love, LOVE GameFly! They have literally saved me thousands of dollars by letting me rent games for as long as I want instead of buying them. They've kept me from purchasing some real stink-a-roos and I've even been able to find some real gems too! Absolutely a wonderful site!
-

Gamefly is epically awesome!
Gamefly is epically awesome! For one low monthly subscription, I can rent video games for any system and play as long as I want. There's even unlimited PC play! They provide me with the return envelopes/postage and the turnaround time til the next game in my que ships is super fast. Great way to maintain your video game budget while still getting to play all the latest n greatest games:-)
Renting unlimited games for as long as you want is
Renting unlimited games for as long as you want is so much better than buying a game. Your average game is like 60 bucks and that can get you almost 5 months of unlimited game rentals. I did like the other person here suggested and cancelled my membership almost immediately and did get a steep discount on their monthly fees. You can also buy games at a much reduced price with their reward points.
I have a family of gamers so being able to try out
I have a family of gamers so being able to try out games before you buy is a big reason I use Gamefly. I have been with them for over 7 years and can't see myself living without them. My only issue is my mail was tampered with once. The post office didn't help because there was no tracking on the package, but Gamefly's customer service was very helpful. I would recommend to others but I would also recommend you be discreet with your mail because you never know what can happen.
Great way to have unlimited games on your PS3, XBOX
Great way to have unlimited games on your PS3, XBOX 360 or Wii - I got a subscription to this service about a year ago and it has been a great way to keep playing new games without having to buy them. For the price of a couple games, you basically get unlimited about of rentals for a year. It works just like netflix. And, if you just keep the game for more than a month, they will offer you a super cheap price to just keep it. If you stay with them longer than 6 months, they give you a 5% discount on all the games you want to keep and buy.
It is definitely the best website to rent games online
It is definitely the best website to rent games online and pay secondhand games for less than what you find at Gamestop. Rent a game you want, and if you like it, you can keep it for a price listed. They'll send you a cover case that will be coming from the mail. If not, send it back. The little gripe though is the plans are pricy unless you got enough cash left from your checking account, pick the plan you really want. If it's too much for you, downgrade the plan at anytime. It's worth using if you're a gamer. Nothing can beat Gamefly for renting games, period.
I used to be part of the hollywood video power play
I used to be part of the hollywood video power play system to rent my games locally until they jacked up their prices. I found gamefly to be cheaper and they have a wider variety of games. The game you want is almost always in stock. The price to sign up is cheap too. If you sign up for a couple months and then try to quit, they will 1 month later send you an email with an even lower price per month. I quit because I am poor but then they sent me an email with a ridiculously low price that I couldn't refuse. If you want a deal, sign up for a month and then quit... then sign up again :)
The service great never had any problems a little difficult
The service great never had any problems a little difficult to get new releases, really next to impossible I can usually get the newer ones at my local rental store sooner, but for the older games no problem. Have saved money buy not buying some games that were a waste of plastic. I've even purchased games I've rented.the only problem I've had purchasing is when I purchased straight from the site lost in the mail but did get a refund no problem and they don't send the original case like they say they do if you buy one you've rented, just the ones you buy from the site. Overall not a waste of money very good service if you play games alot
Good service
Nice customer service. I recently got a game from them on free trial, and I didn't return the game. (My fault) I believe I lost it. I emailed them for an extension on the game they gave it to me. On the end of that extension, I emailed them to say I lost the sleeve, they extended it until they sent me another sleeve. They're very understanding company as far as reasonable understand can go, seeing many people try to rip them off. They had my credit card info the whole time and not once charged me despite having a month trial game for almost 2 months. Only annoying thing is the emails I get from them, but I am considering going back to gamefly if funds permit.
I signed up for a trial, and sent my game back, and could not close the account
I signed up for a trial, and sent my game back, and could not close the account. I changed cards, to one that didn't have any money on it, and they emailed me saying that my account was closed due to non payment. My game Q was empty. Eventually that card had money loaded on it, and they took money out immediately and opened my account back up... And kept taking money for 2 months even though I had no games in my Q. Apparently they decide to close and re-open your account, not you. This is the United States of America right? Just wondering... I rolled with it, I liked the convenience. (why I give 2 stars) Games cost more, I beat them, they gather dust. I got my Q going again, They mailed me a game, So I liked it... I went ahead and decided to keep it so they gave me an option to pay a little extra, and was processed per usual as any site would do to buy something and as the next button kept getting hit, I realized they redirected me to a 3rd party survey company that had their label but the source code of the website had nothing to do with Gamefly. They are doing this things that the cyber security world calls "USER CONFUSION" where you fall right into it and you are tricked. The survey isn't optional, they throw you right into it, not warning that you are leaving the gamefly site. I sent an email, they didn't reply to me with an actual person (automated message to shut me up) until I sent the redirected link, so they call me. Saying we have 3rd party surveys, get over it. If I don't want to participate, close it out. They wouldn't listen to me as I said I was thrown in it, it was an option, there was no warning, and he said now you know so just close it out. I'm a smart guy, I know computers really well and know how to avoid these things, but I'm trying to reach out to the people and let them know about it and Gamefly may indirectly be to blame for some of those ROBOCALLS that you've been getting 8 times a day!

Shipments mysterious stopped coming from GameFly and they are absolutely no help in determining why
Shipments mysterious stopped coming from GameFly and they are absolutely no help in determining why. They mishandled my property and then charged me. I had been a GameFly subscriber for about 6 months with no issues outside of an empty game sleeve I once received. Then, suddenly in November of 2020 I completely stopped receiving any shipments they supposedly sent me. I couldn't get any answers as to why this was occurring so I cancelled the service in early December. Upon cancelling, I needed to return the one game I had in my possession by using the return sleeve provided. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of putting one of our games in the return sleeve instead of the game that was GameFly's property. I contacted them when we discovered the mistake (2 days later) and they replied that they indeed have our game, they would return it and upon receiving our game we could send back theirs in the return envelope it arrived in. Well, of course we never received it because nothing from GameFly came after early November. I contacted them again after we had not received the game or return sleeve. With the postal delays it was reasonable that it was just severely delayed so they would send another return envelope so I could get their game back to them while waiting for mine. I never received that envelope either and - despite the fact that they knew I was awaiting the return envelope and my property - they proceeded to charge me for the game. I have since returned their game at my own cost and my understanding from them is that I will receive a credit when they get it but as far as my property they couldn't help me in any way and they are not responsible. Incredibly, GameFly does not using postal tracking. Not only that, but even when they are handling a customer's game they do not ask how the customer would like to ensure it's safe return. No option to allow the customer to pay for shipping or anything...just their word I guess that "Yeah, we dropped it in the mail but we're not responsible for anything". Through a long series of back and forth emails with their arrogant and simply unhelpful support personnel their stance was that they do not know what happened, nor can they provide me with any helpful information and their is all our responsibility. I actually believe this is probably a post office issue but I am left with absolutely no information to pursue it further to get my property back. While I understood early on from our conversation that they did not use tracking, I asked that they provide me with simple details from their records and when/where the 3 missing shipments originated from so I could go to the post office with that information and have them look into it. Since it was clearly a pattern (not just my one shipment of my game) that was lost, it is critical that I know the details of those shipment's origins to be able to pursue it with USPS but they refuse any and all help. I do not find it to be a stretch to say that their employees - knowing that the company does not use tracking even for the return of customer's property - could easily take the game and say they sent it back since it can never be proven otherwise. What baffles me is their complete unwillingness to provide information. I'm sure they have internal records - "Package X was sent to customer Y on XX/XX from XYZ" but their unwillingness to provide simple data to assist me makes me wonder whether my property was ever even attempted to be returned.
On August 4, 2021 I ordered a *** 5 bundle from Gamefly. This order was shipped via UPS with the tracking number ***. On August 17, 2021 the order was marked as lost or damaged by UPS. A phone call with UPS tells me the claim has been filed and any further contact would be with the shipper *** only. I have contacted *** several times and they claim they are still waiting to hear from UPS. I am wanting my refund for $826.78 for order not received.
My order showed delivered to mail box but it must have been delivered to another address. Contacted gameflly and they said its not their problem. Contacted usps and they said contact gamefly. order 7*** I just want my game delivered to me or my full refund.
The listed business applied bait and switch tactics by advertising for sale Xbox series X bundles. On 18 Oct 21 GameFly advertised and sold me an Xbox Series X bundle, Order Number XXXXXXXX. In order to make this purchase GameFly required I creat an account with them and provide my email address. They've since, sent me numerous advertisements via email offering a wide range of services and products. On 19 Oct 21 they cancelled my order with an explanation of "Sold Out." They need to honor my original order and send me the product as soon as it's available in stock. This business does not appear to be acting in good faith.
They charged my account for a game I returned and I would like refunded
The screamride game for xbox 360 doesn't work anymore everytime I tried to play it it won't play.
It keep saying it is unreadable and when I look at it. It had scratch marks on it.
False advertising. Terrible customer service
I purchased the Batman Arkham Asylum download for the pc. There download manager is terrible there was a lost connection about every 5 minutes and then it had to be restarted manually. It took 4 days to download the game. I wrote them a message asking for a refund and I told them that I haven't finished downloading it, I haven't activated it, and I haven't played it yet. It took them several days to respond and when they did they refused to offer a refund. They should explain in there advertisments that downloads don't download properly. If I had known this then I would have purchased the game from somewhere else. Terrible customer service.
I meant to write Batman Akham City not Batman Arkham Asylum

false advertising horrible customer service
i have been a member of gamefly since 2005 and now if you are lucky to get a new release sent to u on release date you'll never see the game from them it will sit on low to medium if u contact customer service they say the games are in high demand and are unable to ship then read the answers forum all new members are recieving new games without a problem.
best part is when they do not recieve a game they send u a email telling u how to mail your items and where to mail them taking no responsiblity putting all blame on the post office HA this company has turned into a complete rip off will only ship u old games that are available now nothing else if u are an exisiting member take my advice and just buy the game at a store at least u can play it

NO customer service & horrible shipping
GameFly takes 5-7 days to ship AFTER they check in the returned game. This is unacceptable to me, how about you? They say they "strive to ship within 24 hours" This doesn't mean they actually have to do that, obviously.
They just keep responding to our emails, instructing us to put more games in the queue and even though we have many games in there (several classified High availability), it makes no difference. It is the standard response they keep giving. You cannot talk to them either. They only accept emails that are countered with canned responses and no answers or solutions that work.
They are rated the WORST company I have done business with in 2011, second only to AT&T. Save your money and peace of mind - go anywhere else for your games!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Lousy customer service and poor shipping
I contacted customer service about why they are not shipping a 2nd game when I am paying for 2 at a time. They only shipped 1 game and told me since the other games on my list have medium availability, they are unable to send me any more games. Why would I continue to pay for a level of service that they refuse to provide? Plus they refuse to give me a refund or credit for the money I have spent on 2 at a time when only recieving 1 at a time service. The customer service at gamefly is horrible at best. They do nothing to try to satisfy the customer. I will never use gamefly or recommend them to anyone.
Fraudulent business practices
After several months of slow service and receiving games from the bottom of my queue I decided to cancel the subscription. I waited until a few days before the end of my billing month, cancelled and sent back the last game I had. In less than 24 hours from the time I mailed back the game I was sent an email that they game was received damaged and that I would have to pay $49.99. I do not believe the company had time to receive the game back and that $49.99 is way to much to try and charge since they themselves only value the trade-in of the game at $4.70.

SLOWEST SHIPPING EVER
Gamefly has the slowest shipping ever for their video game service! This is seriously a f-n joke. They claim on their website that it takes 2-4 days to receive a video game in the mail from them. WRONG!
The past 2 months I've had their service, it has taken more than 6 days to receive a game. This is almost DOUBLE what they claim. It is still cheaper to rent $9 xbox games from Blockbuster.
I switched bc Blockbuster is a f-n ripoff on video game rentals. But if it takes 6 days for me to get a game, i play it for 7 days, and then another 5 days to ship back, that is already half a month! So I can only get 2 games per month at this ### slow rate. I pay $22 for the service. If i got 2 games per month at Blockbuster it would be about $17-18.
Gamefly---You used to be good the first year I had your service, but your ### shipping and slow delivery forced me to complain. You also claim you have this "FastReturn" shipping with UPS. WHATA JOKE! Don't make false claims because I haven't seen any fast returns in the 2 years I've had your service.
Pick up your game or I will no longer be a member next month and will tell everyone I know on xbox that your service is CRAP and a RIPOFF.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Scam charges
Initially we got the games we requested in a short amount of time but after a few months that changed. More and more we noticed that the games we received were very low on our list and took longer and longer to get to us. When we complained they would either not respond or respond with some sort of form letter stating the usual we try to get you the games you want. Finally we decided to drop the service. Of course they do not give refunds for un-used time so we kept the service through the month and cancelled 2 days before our billing period was up and sent back the last game we had; Sims 2 Pets for the PS2.
In less than 24 hours from the time I mailed the game I received an email that the game was damaged beyond repair and that I would have to pay $49.99. I do not believe that they could have possibly received the game yet much less that the game was damaged in the mail since in the months that we had the service this had never happened before. In addition, GameFly will only give you $4.70 in trade in for this game so why would they charge me $49.99 to replace it.

Gamefly put $20 on hold from my debit card for a "free trial" During signup when you put the credit card info in it even says "Credit card will not be charged until trial period ends" but there the charge is. The answer from customer support is as follows" "we perform a temporary authorization against the credit card provided upon registration. This is to ensure that if you choose to stay a member after your free trial or if you wish to keep a game that you rented during the free trial, you are ready to go.
We do not receive any funds from this transaction. The temporary authorization could take 2 to 5 business days to clear depending on your bank's policy" Is this not charging my account before the trial period ends? A $1 pre auth might be acceptable if told up front but $20 to set up account? SCAM.
Horrible company
THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD. I LIVE IB OREGON AND SUPPOSEDLY THEY SHIP FROM CALIFORNIA. IT ALWAYS TOOK 11-15 DAYS TO GET GAMES AND WHEN I CANCELLED THEY CONTINUES TO SHIP GAMES WHICH I IMMEDIATLY RETURNED THEN THEY CHARGED ME FULL PRICE FOR THEM EVEN AFTER RECIEVING THEM BACK. THEY REFUSE TO REFUND THESE AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH THE COMPANY FOR SUPPORT. AS A LOYAL NETFLIX USER THIS COMPANY EVEN COMPARING THEMSELVES TO NETFLIX IS A HUGE INSULT TO NETFLIX. I MYSELF WILL WAIT UNTIL NETFLIX OFFERS GAMES AND TELL EVERYONE WHO WILL LISTEN HOW HORRIBLE GAMEFLY IS. WHAT A SCAM. MOST OF THE GAMES THEY SENT WOULDNT EVEN WORK WHICH MAKES ME BELIEVE THEY WERE COPYING GAMES AND USING ILLEGAL COPIES AS RENTALS.

Unauthorized billing
I first signed up with GameFly with their promotion at the end of '08 since I figured if it was anything like Netflix, it'd be a lot cheaper than renting games from Blockbuster or Hollywood Video. Not only does it take over a week to receive a game from the point when I receive the 'we've shipped you...' e-mail, but they do not respond to their...

Even though I returned a rented game they sent me to COLLECTION "Rickenbacker Group" (another cr?p company). There was no way but to pay for what I never had to if I was dealing with a REPUTABLE COMPANY. STAY AWAY !
Takes waaaaaaaaaay to long to get a game. For a single games it can take up to a week of waiting.
@Green_Gecko_Joker - stop pretending to be me, you are PETE STEDS/SMITH, DAVID LANGLEY AKA A CHEAT LIAR AND SCAMMER EVERYONE BEWARE
I've been a member of Gamefly since 2003. The company was above average on It's shipping times, customer service, ect until last year when they opened up more shipping centers, supposedly to increase their shipping times and game availibility. What a joke that's been. While their quick to take their monthly fees from your account on time they sure take their sweet time when It comes to providing the service your paying for. I canceled my sub with them a few months ago over paying for two games out and sometimes going into two weeks before they would mail me "one " game. This company needs some hard core lessons on the value of good customer service. I wish I had the means to create a company to compete with them. I'd bury them in their own poor attitude. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. If your on Facebbok or any of the other web sites like it, spread the word. It's time a company like this learned that the "little guy"can cause some damage too or haven't they heard of David and Goliath? He who has stones start throwing them! Enough is enough
Due to slow service and the fact that I never got any of the games located in the top 10 of my queue I decided to drop the service. I waited until 2 days before the end of my billing month, cancelled and mailed back the last game I had; Sims 2 Pets for the PS2. The next morning at 7:24am, less than 24 hours from the time I mailed the game, I received and email from them stating that the game was broken beyond repair and that I had to pay $49.99. They are obviously lying to get more money. There is no way they could have recieved the game back yet. In addition, they will only give you $4.70 as a trade in for this game so why would they charge me $49.99. The company is a scam.
Gamefly also seceretly signs you up to a vacation deal where they take money out of your account monthly even after you've cancled game fly took me and my wife a year to actually find out why 10 dollars was coming out of her account every month because of the way it appears on the bank statement it makes it look like some bank fee even the the ppl from the bank was in disbelief at how sneaky they were about it.
They would have only sent your account to a collections agency if you didn't return there games after canceling your account with them, and only after an extended period of time (like a month). If it takes you more then a month to return your games that you're no longer paying for, you must be some deadbeat and deserve to be sent to collections.
Wow, i can honestly say that this has never happened to me. I've had both gamefly and netflix for about the same amount of time and this has never happened. I get my games within 3 business days, and they receive the ones i send back in about the same timeframe. Like i said in a netflix post, maybe it has something to do with where you are located, and the availability of the games your requested. i would look into that before making any kind of accusations.
My exerience with Gamefly has led me to believe that they intentionally delay the processing of recieved games and the shipment of requested games to make more money off the monthly subscription fee.
It typically takes them almost 2 weeks to acknowledge a recieved game, and another week or two to ship the next one in my queue. So basically they just charged me a months subscription while they sit on their *****- the more time they kill without sending me a game, the more money they make.
