geico sucks and did not pay the claim
I have an accident in August. I am 80 percent liable. I do not have collision coverage but I have uninsured motorist insurance. Geico sent me a letter saying
"We are filing a claim against the responsible party for the total amount of damage to your vehicle, including your deductible of $500.00.
It usually takes about three months from the date we make our request to receive reimbursement. However, if we do not receive full cooperation from the responsible party, it could take longer.
We will make every effort to recover the money as quickly as possible and will inform you of any further developments.
If you have any questions, please contact me at the number below. Please refer to our claim number when writing or calling about this claim."

However they could not get the compensation from the other party. And Geico refuses pay me 20% of my car value even I have uninsured motorist insurance. The lady is very tricky. In the first conversation with me 2 months ago, she told me Geico will give 20 percent of my car value back if they do not recover the money from the other party. Today, I called her and she said Geico will not give me any compensation if they could not get any money from the other party.
What is the use of my uninsured motorist coverage.
auto insurance
So I have been with Geico for a few years. I have been well taken care of with no complaints up until now. Today I received an email with a request of an updated address and so when I logged in I was prompted to do so. When that was done I had for some reason received a new quote. My bill went down and I was saying to myself they had my new address on file since the summer of this year why didn't my rate go down then? So I called and Genovi told me they didn't have a updated address on file for me. I said that is ironic because I was receiving correspondence during the summer to the new address. They basically are not trying to give me the reduced rate since the summer and they just simply took money from me, but they collect their money each month. I am a loyal customer, but this is messed up and I don't like it.
Did you ask Geico to reimburse you for the previous months?
low customer service standards
After 15 years as their customer, geico shows no appreciation for my business.
I submitted this letter to them on 11/7:
—
Hello!
I hope somebody who cares about customer service reads this. if not, at least I did my part.
On 9/30 I received a reminder about my policy renewal and I sent in a question. I wanted to be accurate about the mileage I reported. I didn't get a response then, but a question, and then another question. it took me 3 emails to get my answer. by that time, I had forgotten that I hadn't renewed the policy.
It wasn't until last friday that I realized. I tried to log on, but the website said I needed to call to reinstate my policy. I called saturday morning and was told the policy could be restarted but no longer for $566, but for $721 instead. really?! after 15 years being your client and you can't understand a mistake? and all because I wanted to do the right thing! if I had just renewed the policy the day I got the notice without caring about whether it was accurate or not, I wouldn't find myself in this situation. that is really sad. if you cared about me as a client, you could have given me a call and said, "we noticed that after we responded to your question, you didn't renew the policy. is there anything you'd like to discuss?" there was nothing of the kind. your last message was 10/7. my policy expired 10/14 and nobody ever contacted me. I wished I mattered to you more.
Anyway, today is my birthday, so i'll try to have a good day, but this is really disappointing because over the years I had always said and thought so highly of you and your customer care, that I can't help but feel robbed.
Sincerely,
María

Literally the worst insurance company ever. I was going down a hill where there is only one lane each way, this 83 year old lady is my oncoming traffic and she is waiting to turn left (from my left to right) and she starts turning left so I would have t-boned her, I had to break super hard and I swerved her, causing me to run into a curb. This caused excessive damage to my car and it was undrivable. Geico find me at FAULT. They literally told me if I would have made contact with this lady she would have had to pay for everything. IS THIS A JOKE. I'm driving safely and swerve this lady so that no one gets hurt and there are no physical damages but IM THE ONE WHO HAS TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE AND MY INSURANCE IS GOING TO GO UP? thats so ridiculous. I made a safe move by not making contact with her, next time, ill just consider getting hurt so I'm not found at fault.
claims
On saturday, october first, my car (Insured by geico) was backed into by a geico insured person in a parking lot. Damage to my car was on the side of my car. The person who hit me had slight damage to his rear bumper. He admitted his fault, said he would tell geico of his error. He apparently denied it's his fault. There is no way i could have hit the rear of another car with the side of my car.
After two weeks of delays, geico claimed that it's "shared negligence' and i would have to use my deductible to pay for the damage. The geico claim adjuster as well as the several body shops all could not understand how the accident could have deemed it my fault.
This is a terrible agency.
horrible!
I was a victim but these guys from Geico did not believe me and said it was all my fault. While I was in the store some drunk driver smashed into my car! I went out a saw that there was nothing much left from my car.
Of course I called Geico and said that I had all the proofs and etc., but they kept telling me it was my fault, that I shouldn't have left my car there and other things! And not only that! Their customer service rep was very rude and impolite, he interrupted me, did not let me say a word! Avoid Geico at all costs, don't deal with them, because all they need is your money and they will never help you!
car insurance
I have been with Geico for five and a half months with a 6 month policy. Right before my six month policy turned into six months Geico hit me with trying to add my daughter on my plolicy which my daughter is grown and no longer live in my household. This was told to them when I first opened up my policy yet they wait darn near six months to try and add. When I called them to inquire about it because I had no recollection of them doing this till I went online to pay my premium and seen my daughter name on my account they tell me I need to provide proof she has a valid drivers lisence and insurance. Why would I provide you anything for a person that is grown and lives on their own that is not your business what they have, plus you wasn't authorized to even try and add someone to my account without informing me. So I canceled my policy with them that same day and switched over to State Farm now Geico is saying I owe them twenty something dollars. How do I owe you anything when my policy was due same day I canceled and went with someone else that same day seems like a bunch of rip offs and bs.
claims / service
I am appalled at how my claim was handled at Geico. I hit something on the freeway and popped 2 tires and punctured my wheel on 9/25/2016. Not thinking insurance would cover tires, I purchased 2 new tires. When I learned of the punctured Wheel, I called Geico. They agreed to cover everything and sent an adjuster to the tire shop. There, he took pictures documented everything and gave me a check payable to myself and BMW Financial (not the shop). So, I was out of pocket $855 for the tires. I then took the car to BMW dealer to get the new wheel and alignment. The dealer couldn't do anything with that check from Geico, and I was told I'd have to mail it to BMW Financial (in another state), and have it signed over by BMW Financial but I also needed to send in all my receipts. I couldn't get receipts until I paid for the repairs which were another $990! After spending over 2 hours trying to get this sorted out, Geico finally agreed to pay the shop direct (duh!). When it came time for me to pick up my car, the Geico adjuster says "sorry, my printer isn't working and I can't print any checks to pay for your car OR reimburse you". Umm, what? Another thing about this adjuster is his phone wasn't working the entire time, so we had to rely on text messages. I felt like I was working some backyard sketchy deal or something. So I've had to come up with over $1700 to get my car fixed with NO sign of anything coming from Geico. Its been the most frustrating, horrible experience ever. If you are even considering using Geico, I would recommend NOT. The lack of customer care is just not worth it. You pay for insurance expecting you'll be taken care of when you need it. That is not what happened to me at Geico and I'm still without a dime for reimbursement.
auto insurance
My Truck was stolen and I reported to the Sheriff. The Sheriff changed the claim to unauthorized use. Geico will not cover me until truck is found. It has been missing 30 days and i am told i will not be covered. Why am I am paying for insurance.
auto insurance
This company has the worst service for its customers and is completely inconsiderate. I've had an auto policy since 2013 with Geico while living in the state of Arizona. Geico drafted every payment in the amount of $84.00 directly from my account every month for three years. My job recently transferred me from Arizona to Texas; in which, I contacted Geico in mid-July of 2016 advising of the changes. In addition, to inform them that I also bought a new car.
The agent advised me that since I was moving from AZ to TX, plus with the policy updates of my new car, my premium would increase from $84 to $300, which is absurd! I stressed the fact that this new policy was unaffordable; however, the agent stated this amount was the lowest policy offered. Due to this, I began shopping for another auto insurance carrier. In the meantime, I received an email in August advising that my policy would cancel, effective August 29, 2016, if a payment was not remitted. I contacted Geico to setup some type of payment arrangement for the outstanding balance of $395.00; however, I was advised that I've missed the due date to make payment arrangements. WOW, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
Geico drafts $84 from my account every month (without a missed payment) for three years and decided to triple my payment from $84 to $300 due to the state I'm now living in. After deducting my account in July for $84, I called to make some type of payment arrangement in August and was advised that it's now too late and I have to make the entire payment of $395 in full. Who in the world pays a premium monthly payment that cost almost as much as their monthly car note? How ridiculous! What's even more absurd is that Geico wouldn't even work with a loyal customer of three years to setup a payment plan for the outrageously increased amount due to me missing the deadline by a week. WHAT A JOKE!
I am livid at the thought of this company taking money from me every month for the past three years. I intend on filing a complaint with every regulator and agency to ensure this type of service does not occur with other customers. Please avoid this company by all means necessary! WHAT A SCAM!
The least this company can do is allow me to pay the outstanding balance in two payments. Who cares if the deadline has surpassed by a week, I've been a loyal customer for three years (never filed a claim) and all you've done is take payments without offering any additional assistance to your customers. If this simple request cannot be accommodated, please reimburse me all funds paid out since 2013 for wasting my time.
Insurance rates are determined by the state based on statistical information gathered in that area by the insurance comp. This can be based off of the amount accidents in the area, how much it costs to repair vehicleshop in the area, the cost to repair your vehicle or how much damage your vehicle may cause in an accident. And that's just some of the stuff they look at it. All insurance companies do this. The state reviews the info to make sure they are charging a fair rate based on the info. Your first payment was more than likely pro rated. But even if it wasn't per your contract there is no way to provide additional time to make a payment. If the equity runs out then there's no more money left to protect you. Car insurance is just like health insurance. It's a pool of money collected in the event that you need to use it. It's not like your cable bill or cell phone bill.
price increase for no reason
I am furious with geico right now! I called to switch out 2 of my cars. I expected the rates for those to go up a bit because they are newer cars. However, the price for a truck I did not change in any way, shape, or form should not have changed at all! The truck is the same: same driver, same housed location, even fewer (Much fewer) miles than I need, etc. Yet, the rate for that truck went up $60. Are they kidding me? Rip off! I have called several companies so far to get quotes for new policies with their competitors, and each of them has said that the rate for the truck should not have changed. Shame on them!
"I have called several companies so far to get quotes for new policies with their competitors, and each of them has said that the rate for the truck should not have changed." How would they know? THEY are not Geico and have no bearing whatsoever on Geico's charges or policies. Price changes are determined by the type of policy you have, how many vehicles, the age and type of vehicle, and whether your policy is being changed mid term. It is not a rip off. It is a free market. And just fyi, the other companies will bad mouth Geico to get your business. Which is bad business.
cancelled my policy without providing notice
I received a letter from the Maryland MVA indicating my registration has been suspended due to no insurance coverage. I called Geico and was told that my policy had been cancelled because I didn't send them proof that I was no longer driving for Uber. What? Geico is claiming that they attempted to contact me via certified mail. I never received anything. I asked them to provide me with proof that their letter was delivered to me. The indicated that it wasn't returned to them by the post office. Now, I have to pay a fine to the Motor Vehicle Administration AND the cost of my insurance will skyrocket due to having a lapse in coverage. Why would you do this to someone who has been a loyal customer for over 15 years? Why? Rideshare drivers...Watch Out!
claim
I filed a claim on 7/18 with Geico, and on that day I made reservations for a rental car to be picked up on 7/26 and an appointment to meet with the Claims adjuster for 7/22.
On 7/22 the adjuster was a no call no show. I called the 800 number and they routed me to the field adjuster. His reason for not contacting me was "I forgot"
On 7/26 I called Enterprise while enroute to the collision center and they explained to me that they could not pick me up and to call another location. They said this while I was already in route to the collision center! So after speaking to Enterprise, I called Geico quickly to resolve the issue. I spoke with a representative that was very kind and pleasant. She called a couple locations and the one that was recommended for me to go to was not available to answer the phone. The stated she will continue to try and call me back in 15 minutes. She called back 20 minutes later advising she has had no luck. I explained to her that I needed to get to work and I made this reservation over a week ago and this is starting to become a problem. Due to the amount of time that has elapsed at this point I had to get to work. I took Uber and spent 15.00 to get to work from the collision center. Before the rep and I disconnected, I asked that she close out the prior reservations and just see if someone can pick me up from my job if there is a location near. She stated that she would and she would call me back. She called me back and all things have been confirmed for a pick up from my job and I would receive a call from the location to confirm. After two hours pass by, I contact the location just to confirm the information that i was given by the representative. Needless to say, I was misinformed by the Geico rep and there weren't any cars available at that location and there's no guarantee that a car will be available today. This made me beyond upset. I called to speak with manager named Phillip, and after explain the entire situation he asked me well what would you like for me to do... bad start. So after spending over 47 minutes on the line with him, he was able to locate a facility that could not pick me up but they can have a car ready. I don't know how in the hell i'm supposed to get to the car but there's one waiting on me if I can get to it.

bills paid in full, and Myself and Kirstin Gordon's lost wages and salary as a result of the May 2, 2016 accident with thier insurer. Thank you
Geico is not your insurer. You need to be contacting your insurance and let them fight it out with Geico. Geico works for the other guy. They have no interest in you. That is what your insurance is for.

repairs on the car
Hi
We have a claim that requires body shop working on the car.
Geico Agent told us we can take the car to any body shop, so we did.
The body shop doesn't want to complete the job, they gave us two false date to complete the job and twice we had to go back home without the car.
We called Geico and they told us that there is nothing they can do as this was our choice to take the car at that bodyshop. They cannot cancel the payment.
So we don't think car will come safe from this place and we have no way to get back the car.
We think Geico should have let us know the risks of taking the car to a place they are not doing business with.
The car is at the body shop, we don't even know how to take it back.
auto insurance
GEICO is the most deceitful company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I was misled from the beginning, starting with my quote that I received from Amber Broome of the South Blvd GEICO office in Charlotte, NC ([protected]@geico.com, 704-523-AUTO) as well as the agency owner of that location (I don’t have her name or info). I was forthright when I gave my information and stated that I had a speeding ticket in late 2013 (Conviction date of 10/2013). When Amber ran the quote, she said the ticket did not show up and gave me a monthly quote of $150 something and some change. I tweaked the coverage since the original quote to bring the monthly rate to $156 and some change. I was very satisfied with this and counted myself lucky that the ticket did not show up even though, again, I provided this information up front. I was obviously very upset when I was contacted about a month after I had agreed to the service, and subsequently locking me in to service with GEICO for six months, and told that the rate would be going up to $244 per month (increase of roughly $88 per month). I was told that the MVR was pulled again and the ticket was now showing up. I tried to talk to countless other GEICO employees, only to be told that they were allowed by law to do this and would not be adjusting the rate, although it was their “mistake.” This is a textbook BAIT AND SWITCH. How can you lock someone in to service at one rate and change it a month later, with no new information. After all of this, I decided that I wasn’t going to stand for this and the behemoth that is GEICO would not profit off of my measly account. I began to shop my insurance at other agencies. I found a smaller, independent brokerage that is actually honest and cares about their clients - which is a welcomed sight after so much dishonesty and deceptive practices - and they will be my new provider. When I called to cancel, GEICO notified me – as if they hadn’t done enough already – that I would be charged an early termination fee, even though they were the dishonest and deceptive ones. When I asked for this to be waived, I was told that they were unwilling to do that. I was given a breakdown of the charges ($45.60 for coverage through the 21st of June and $147.46 for the early cancellation fee). When I complained to GEICO's Facebook page, I was told something completely different. I was told that there is no early cancellation fee, only a "short rate" for cancelling early. The associate even pointed it out on a NC document. I guess they didn't think that I would read the document, because it said that they would charge the short rate on top of a cancellation fee. When I called my local agency to have them waive the fee, they said that they could not do it, because the "fee" was charged by the state. This is three different things, from three different GEICO employees. All of them gave me the run-around and told me they would have a supervisor call me, which none of them did. I honestly have no idea how this can be legal. It might not be, but GEICO is so big that they could not care less. They can probably get it away with it either way.
NC does have short rate. Which is basically an early termination fee. That's a state requirement to stop people from getting insurance just to meet dmv requirement and then canceling it the next day. It's up to you to read your contract completely before you sign. Not just with insurance but with any legal document you sign.
insurance policy auto debit and renewal
Happy belated Memorial Day. My Memorial day was enjoyable but not the happy adventure I had planned for my family. I had imagined going to Indiana Dunes historic state Park with my daughters. During the drive I had imagined teaching them about the honorable women and men that gave everything in service to protect this beautiful country. Instead I woke up to a negative checking account.
I trusted that the system would work.
I called May 25, 2016 at 12:40 pm and spoke to agent Megan Zuchoski. I requested to cancel the auto-debit on my account. I requested to have my husband removed from my auto policy. I requested for a supervisor and my call was disconnected. I had been a loyal customer for approximately 10 years. Since getting married, I have had so many difficulties continuing my auto insurance policy. Approximately in November Geico refused to take my money unless I added my husband to my policy and cut my insurance off. Remaining loyal to Geico I followed the requested steps and continued my auto coverage with Geico. At the beginning of May I received notice that I would lose my good driver benefit and that my policy would raise to approximately $234. I chose a path to be of service to my community by becoming a social worker for children with the State of Indiana. Social Work is my passion and not the quickest way to earn a living wage for a family of four. $234 is not in my budget. Once again on 5/25/16 I requested that my husband sign an exclusion and be taken off my policy. Megan Zuchoski stated that Geico’s contract with the State of Indiana did not allow for such exclusions. I stated that there were other auto companies in Indiana that allowed for the exclusion. I stated that I had signed such an exclusion for my husband’s auto policy through Titan. After a lot of argument I unfortunately came to the conclusion that I could not afford to continue my relationship with Geico and stated that if the policy could not be brought back down to $107, there will be no renewal of the policy for May 25, 2016. I stated that since marriage Geico has not offered the same excellent service as in the past. I felt like my marriage and Geico’s inability to compromise ruined the relationship I had formed with Geico over the past several years. Once again, I trusted the system. I trusted that Megan Zuchoski would do her job and remove the auto-debit off the account. I trusted that Megan Zuchoski would not new my auto insurance.
On May 29th, 2016 I wanted to buy my children American themed swimwear, glow sticks and other cheeky memorial themed toys. On 5/29/16 I was surprised that my trust was betrayed and placed into the wrong agents hands. I called Geico at 12:40 pm and spoke to Alaina Seidler. I was very upset and didn’t use appropriate coping skills, I verbally cussed and yelled. Agent Alaina Seidler was able to calm me down and reassure me the situation would be resolved. The agent cancelled the policy and requested a refund to my bank account. I was assured that if the recordings on 5/25/16 proved that I requested the auto payment stopped and my policy to not renewed, all my banking issues would be resolved. I was told to send in a running bank statement log. Once again I trusted the system. I prayed and thought the situation would resolve itself.
On 5/31/16 I called to check on the status of my refund. At 2:30 pm I spoke with Sandra Schliekelman. She stated that my request for Geico to cover the overdraft fees were denied. I was very upset and requested to hear the recordings from 5/25/16. I know the recording would be key to resolving the discrepancies. She once again assured me that the recordings were the key and that she was requesting to review the recording. I talked about the discrepancy on when that policy cancelation date.
On June 1st, 2016 at 1:25pm I was told the call on 5/25/16 had not been recorded and that Geico would not be covering my loss at all. I had requested Geico to cover my overdraft fees. I did not go running up overages on purpose. I moment I realized that the Geico payment posted to my account, I stopped using my Teacher’s Credit Union account. The last debit was for taking my children to the Drive in at Tibbs Movie Theater and purchasing hotdogs. I simply lived my life expecting and trusting that Geico agents performed their duties with integrity and honor. Unfortunately that was not the case and now my account is negative $189.79. I don’t receive another paycheck for 7 days. Geico hasn’t even processed a debit reversal for the $234.77. My overdraft fees are $160 for small purchases I had made on Saturday. These purchases included a Beyonce CD for the drive, food for the trip, gas to make the trip, and fast food.
I need assistance in returning my checking account to a positive standing. My daughters are understanding that everyday people make mistakes. I try to instill in my children to always correct their mistakes, no matter the cost. Please help me, Help Geico to correct their mistake
car insurance
This is a lengthy, but yet huge issue and awful customer service on Geico's part! In November 2016 my fiance noticed his car insurance seemed to be higher than normal and called on it. Mind you nothing has changed, he is the only driver. When he called he was told "back in May 2015 you received a ticket.. Therefore that is why you're paying more." My fiance was really confused and wanted to know what this ticket was for. The representative told him "It was for speeding and someone made a report." When my fiance asked who made this "REPORT" the representative told him that he would have to contact DMV to get any further information. He ended up doing research and found out that he in fact has NO TICKET and when he got a quote from other insurance companies it was cheaper and nothing was found on his record. He called Geico and got the run around by SEVERAL representatives and finally someone seemed as if they wanted to help. At this point this is January 2016 and yes we deal with this awful experience for 2 months. Well we were told they investigated it and would refund our money but it would take some time.. We thought "okay at least something is finally being done". However, here we are already in May of 2016 and still paying the same amount and NO REFUND as promised... My fiance has been calling and trying to get it handled and now this is what he is being told "a refund will not be issued and you have to go to secretary of state and get your DMV information". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? AFTER THIS MUCH HASSLE NOW WE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO GO THROUGH MORE AFTER ALREADY RECEIVING AN APOLOGY AND PROMISED A REFUND?
their policy
I was hit (rammed) by a Geico insured drive and I believe that she and her mother are Geico employees. The driver did not brake or swerve. I was turning into a busy intersection at 5:00 p.m. and she ran the red light and hit my car knocking it 180% onto the curb and deploying my side and seat air bags. The police listed my car's damage at Level 3 (moderate). My car is a 2010 Honda Civic LX, 57, 000 miles, brand new tires, and excellent condition. Geico offered me $10, 247 AND I HAVE TO SIGN MY CAR TITLE TO THEM.
1) I cannot buy another comparable car, pay the 7% tax, and title fee with this amount. I used Kelley Blue Book and NADA to arrive at a very conservative $ 11.500 for my estimate. I looked at all of the cars in my immediate area of 5, 25, 50 mile area. I purchased this car new. THEIR OFFER IS TOO LOW AND NOT A FAIR PRICE.
2) Geico will take my car if I sign my title to them and auction it at iaai.com for approximately $2, 000 and keep the profit. If Geico is paying me to cover my loss caused by their driver and employee: THEIR OFFER IS TOO LOW AND I DO NOT WANT TO SIGN MY TITLE TO THEM SO THEY CAN SELL IT FOR $2, 000 AND KEEP THIS PROFIT FOR THEMSELVES. I understand Geico recently donated $1, 000, 000 to the Macon, GA autistic disease cure. It seems easy to understand how Geico can be be so magnanimous by shortchanging their victims.
