Trying to get a quote online and at the end I get an error about my license being inactive. My license IS NOT inactive. There is no "selection" to fix it and NOBODY to answer the question and no automation to answer the question. I called the 800 number and the wait time is 30 minutes and I had to lie to get to a point where I had a chance of speaking to a human being. Rates are great! Customer Service is HORRIBLE!
Recommendation: Don't do it!!!
App and service was a near total fail last night when stranded
My title said it all. This 75 yr old woman was stranded with a dead battery waiting for service for 2 long hours last night near midnight in front of a fabric store in a large totally closed Roseville, CA shopping center. My phone had 9% battery and diminishing while the GEICO App uselessly had me scrolling screens clicking “choices.”
Abandoning the app I called the old way despite the website continually telling me to use the mobile app. Geico Service apparently called someone in South Sacramento to come help me. It is a long way from So Sacramento to Roseville! The Service “Bayer Road Service” was pitiful. My service eta was 45minutes. At 55 minutes I called Bayer. I honestly think I woke up his wife when I used my dying phone to call asking where they were. This in no way sounded like a professional service. No kidding. The “service man” didn’t meet any of the 3 ETAs last night. I suspect he went back to sleep after GEICO called him out. The guy arrived 2 hours late in a little Honda with simple jump start cables - NOT even in a truck. Thus he was no help to check my battery for a dead cell as I’d hoped. He never said a word to me! Not even to apologize. He approached, Inreleased the hood latch, he lifted my hood, I turned the key and he quickly took off then parked a 1/4 block away waiting for me to leave the parking lot safely.
In summary, I felt like a target out there at midnight last night in front of Jo Ann’s fabric store. This GEICO App was no help, the actual service GEICO called was terrifyingly slow and terrifically lame. I will seriously rethink GEICO as my auto insurer. The app and the insurer’s service let me down big time when I badly needed both last night.
My poor Subbie WRX
I’ve always had Gieco a friend talked me into switching to Allstate big mistake someone totally messed my paint up put little dents around the whole car popped my tires broke my windshield I caught the little punks that did it in a large shopping center where there is so many cameras that can verify my story cops did nothing so they came back to do more damage I didn’t see this time but there was gas in my radiator the thermostat was taken out my fuse box in disarray I drove my car home not knowing someone came back to vandalize it again I didn’t call Allstate the first time I felt the police should have held these guys responsible so my wouldn’t start I called mobile mechanic got the news I’m gonna need a new motor at that point I filed a claim for outside damage tires and windshield plus the motor Allstate gave me 1100 for external damage I can’t even by enough paint with that to paint the whole car tires were new 760 bucks windshield 245 basically they gave me enough to get new tires and windshield so it never got paint or dents repaired my motor everywhere I went said you pay us and bill your insurance nobody trusted Allstate but pep boys...Pepboys had my car 6 weeks they called me every 3 or 4 days telling me they can’t find a motor with the amount Allstate was allowing then Allstate delivered Pep boys a motor with no history what the motor came out of the year mileage nothing I got my car back heater and air conditioner barely blew it had a major miss like it’s running out of gas now I’m back with Gieco thank god guess what my Subbie is still sitting and since the police did nothing to those punks they came back keyed my car again sliced my tires broke my windshield who do you blame so I moved
Overall reaction to my accident
This entire encounter has been bitter sweet, let me explain.
1) changed coverage on this vehicle on 3/10, from liability only to “full coverage”. Spoke with Michael, he handled everything beautifully, gave me new payment info & save me some $ by enrolling on autopay.
2) everything is cool until I have accident, found out that I had no collision coverage.why would I call on 3/10 and ask for full coverage ? What does full coverage mean as opposed to liability coverage only.
3) My vehicle was worth $2200 max, less deductible, it wasn’t like I was insuring Bentley.
4) I could have easily lied to the State Trooper that evening when asked what happened, I answered him honestly and told him I think I dozed off for a second.Strangely he never asked me if I had been drinking, I guess it was obvious that I had not partook of any alcohol.
I could have told him that a deer or several deer ran out in front of me, thus causing the accident, I then could have filed underComprehension Claim , I would be accountable for $250 deduct, and no one would have known the difference, except me. To be quite honest with you I was happy to be alive, bystanders that came to my assistance could not believe I was alive, without the first scratch on me. Why would I want to stretch the truth then when I had so much to be thankful for. However it has cost me as of now. As to why Michael in my 03/10 update on the coverage of that call did not include COLLISION is beyond my comprehension .
5) I am attaching photos of vehicle after being towed to Carolina Towing.
6) I paid the towing charge as well as an additional$380 for storage, did not attach receipt for that, but any assistance in settling this claim as to the parameters of the FULL COVERAGE that I thought I had would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
William Jarvis
Automotive insurance
Geico is the worst company I have ever used or dealt with. I’ve had car insurance for over 30 years and have never had such a bad experience or have been missed lead buy an insurance company and charged suction outrageous price.
To start with the previous insurance company I had was with Allstate. I was paying a six month premium of $3400 for my vehicles. Due to a lapse I had with Allstate I had to get another insurance company. Geico quoted me $5100 which I unhappily agreed to because I needed insurance at the time. The person I spoke with told me that after he ran the DMV report it might go up a little bit but that would be it and there would be no other increases guaranteed. After he ran the report my insurance was increased to $5600 which he assured me that was it and would not go up again during the six-month policy. Three days later I got a letter in the mail saying that my insurance policy was canceled and then reinstated with a new policy totaling almost $8000 for six months. They are out of their mind. That’s 16,000 for the year for three vehicles full coverage one vehicle liability only.
After calling numerous times and finally getting through they told me this was their normal policy that they had 60 days for underwriting to dig up whatever they could to try and charge me more money. They charged me points for non-point related motor vehicle items such as a seatbelt ticket. No other insurance company has ever charged for the things they did.
I’m still waiting to hear back from them in regards to the man I spoke with originally that told me there would be no other increases to my policy to verify that because it was false information He gave me and I would’ve never got the policies knowing they were going to charge me even more than what they already had. Geico are a bunch of crooks and the government or somebody should step in to make sure they don’t continue doing this to other people.
Road service call
I called road service yesterday morning about 9:15. I had hit something in the road and damaged a tire.
The lady said she was looking for someone in our area that could come and put the spare one for us. I am almost 70 and have two recent knee replacements which do not allow me to kneel down and do such a task. We have a good spare.
After a long period of time she came back on the line and stated she had found a service person that could be st our location in 45 min and that they would call me. We were on the Hwy 22 bypass IN Union City Tn about 5 miles from our home.
An hour and a half later I had not received the call so I called the Geico road service back. I asked who was the service guy coming, we are a fairly small town. They said “J-Bird Tire Service on Union City. I called them and got an answering machine that didn’t work.
Were now about 11:30 and no service vehicle or phone call. I you back and asked what was the status of our service person. Different lady said let me find you one. She came back on the line right away and said she has contacted another service truck in my are and they will call in 30-45 minutes.
After 45 minutes I called back and your service rep connected me to the service guy that was coming. I had a bad connection and he said he was in Walmart 60 miles away and that he had told your rep he could not come because it was out of his service area. I called your service desk back and told they would find somebody.
My son-in-law who is a over the road trucker and was using the weekend to get over the flu called and said he would be right there. He called his AAA road service number and they had a guy there in 15min that knew what he was doing.
Your last agent of yours never did call me back. To say Geico abandoned us is putting it mildly! If I had had AAA road service our ordeal would have been less than an hour instead of over 4 hours.
It is shameful what you did to us.

Review on the company itself. Not the app
I used GEICO for 6 years. Didn’t have any issues, but my account was simple. And I didnt have any claims with the company. However, they changed their prices at one point and it was something I couldnt afford. Once I realized I had been charged close to double what I was paying, I contacted their customer service via phone call and asked what the rules were on ending my policy in the middle of the billing period. The agent ASSURED me that was no fee, and I wouldnt owe ANYTHING, and in fact, I would get money back for the days I wasnt covered by GEICO within that specific billing period. I of course, end the policy, and go on to finding a new insurance company. Awhile later I was showing a balance due on my account. Come to find out, within the state I had my policy, if you cancel early you get charged a fee based on how many days are left in the period. And you don’t get ANY money back from days not used within the period.
Needless to say, I was upset! I had been given incorrect information from someone working in customer service (which is where one goes to confirm things). I contacted GEICO asking for them to fix their mistake which they said they weren’t able to do anything about it. Even though, it was their fault. I can sufficiently say I know NOTHING about policies, which is why I contacted customer service to find out the rules. But what good is a customer service that doesn’t know their job. But, once again, somehow GEICO didn’t feel responsible for that. So odd to me.
Gist of this saga, don’t use this company! They clearly have people working for them that don’t know what they’re doing. The mistake they made cost me less than $200, but if you have any issues with them, it might cost you more than that. Also, they will NOT assist/help you regardless.
Obviously do whatever you gotta do for yourself. But if I can avoid using them ever again, I will. I’ll pay more money just to not use a company that won’t fix their mistakes with more than an ‘apology’.
geico also lied to me! My insurance was $112 a month & it jumped to $121 a month!
Geico told me prior accidents did not count against you but now they went up on my insurance! They told me it was because of accidents I had. I don’t think it’s fair when they consider a little scratch as a wreck & was done in your driveway. We have insurance to help us, not to hurt us! But I believe it’s a money racket as with homeowners insurance. When you have to file a claim, it counts against you! When you have 4 claims they cancel you. When it’s weather related and you cannot help it, this goes against you. An agent at Farm Bureau told me my damage was the worst they had seen when we had some really bad storms! Then when I wouldn’t use the people they sent, They deducted $5000 from my claim damage money, for this one job. They said they decided it wasn’t that bad after all! They excepted this man’s bid after this, I did not hire! Their own company wrote out a claim to do it for $5000 & When I wouldn’t use them,This strange man pops up & writes out a a claim to do it for $400. I did not sign it & in no way would I have used him! BUT, He went to my agent, got a check for $400 out of my claim account money, went to the bank, cashed it & I haven’t seen him since! “He did not do the job” BUT They took this money from my claim! Later, it was proved he was a “Con Artist!” It was in the newspaper, “THIS SAME MAN”had took Jack Stites construction company for several thousands of dollars “THE SAME WAY” Then Farm Bureau wouldn’t pay me enough to get the work done because we had really gotten into it! “I had to go to Goodwill & buy flooring” & I had to try and stretch what little money I had in my own account to pay for the rest of this! They wouldn’t even pay Servpro that had already done the job! They told him to get the money from me! They knew I had none because they had took it all from me! We as customers should have rights also! The only right we have is to change insurances. Then because of these Dishonest people, our insurance goes up even higher! This is not fair at all!
Cancel if coverage
I had called geico to cancel my auto coverage over a month ago. The geico rep said okay and that was that, they said my account was cancelled, I had told them I sold both my cars to a used car dealership.
Today I got in the mail a bill from geico and I was shocked. I had been ill and in the hospital, disabled now and cannot drive, I had told the geico rep that when called to cancel auto coverage. So I got my mail late and saw a bill and used the chat feature on my geico app I had not removed yet thank god and the geico rep I got said my cars coverage could not be cancelled until plates were in MA., I was horrified my cars were being used for over a month under my registration and geico insurence coverage after they were both sold. The geico rep tonight took me thru the rmv ma rules and helped me cancel my plates I am so grateful for her help tonight I dont know why the initial geico rep did not tell me to cancel my plates before I could cancel my auto coverage, but tonight after getting a bill from geico the rep that helped me went thru everything and I am very grateful for her help I have been ill and having a hard time getting a bill from geico and finding out my coverage had not been cancelled for over a month was very upsetting, I paid for over a month for someone using my registration and auto coverage...So kudos to your geico rep on chat tonight that helped a disabled senior it is very appreciated ! The initial geico rep not good fyi and did not instruct me correctly and I lost $$$ I m on a fixed income if that initial rep had told me hey u have to cancel your plates first I would have saved more of my money...So just want you to know the rep tonight saved tue day for me although I wish geico had had my back and emailed or called me after I called to cancel auto coverage and help me with steps I had to do I did not know of
that is the frustrating part geico should have helped me initially not over a month later a getting a bill from geico that spurred me to use chat...Melissa Christie
Happy Customer‼️
I was with Ameriprise (Offered by Costco) and was happy with them. Unfortunately, I was side swiped and needed my car repaired. While I was in the body shop lobby area - waiting for my paper work to process - a superior kind gentlemen was helping this not so grateful man. The kind gentlemen (I asked when the convo was complete) was a Geico rep.
He was so assuring - asking the man if he needed anything else, helping him, comforting him and just being so, so nice and remarkably kind and reassuring. The man just glumly said, "thanks, I'm ok;" not returning the kindness and great generosity back to the rep. When the conversation was finished - even to the end - the Geico rep STILL held his hand of kindness to the man - thanking him for being a customer, and telling him everything will be ok. When the rep was exiting (I live in West Los Angeles and this took place in North Long Beach), he had a great smile on his face. I just wanted to take him home!
I realized I couldn't take him home, but I stopped him before he exited. I had too! I had to know WHAT insurance company he was from. When I asked, he delightfully responded, "GEICO!" gave me his card and said to reference him. I told him I am DEFINITELY switching companies when this whole ordeal is over.
Here I am, the accident is not even MY fault, the car that hit me admitted fault, and I am questioned to the nines. I'm sitting in this room, waiting and having to drive a low grade rental when I could have been insured with Geico.
Someone MUST have heard me because it took them 21 days - just to fix a swipe! Well, it's been over 3 years that I have been with Geico and I have NEVER had a disgruntled customer service rep - EVER. I haven't had to call in that much, but when I do, I am met with smiles. That's what I like!
The world can be a grumpy, cold and unloving place. Don't let that affect you. Don't let this world take away your joy. Keep your smile, your sparkle and keep moving. It will get better!
Thanks for reading!
Worst costumer service experience ever
I just had an awful morning. I am absolutely disgusted with geico.
It starts with an app update and getting signed up with auto-pay, okay whatever, then they draft my account on 4/28 for 5/7's bill, and this posts on 5/2. I am a cancer survivor and I needed meds this week but oh well I'll deal.
Saturday I get an urgent email saying my payment is past due and my policy's going be canceled. I tried to use the app. They ask for my full name, which I give and explain the agent had spelled it wrong on the policy even though I had spelled it out. While waiting to look up the payment info I explain the auto-pay thing and say that I'm not happy about that, so the agent Deborah immediately comes back with the most butchered spelling of my name yet and claimed that she had copied from my message which she definitely had not. I ended the chat out frustration because I see no point in talking to "customer service" reps who can't even get a name right that was literally right in front of their face. If they can't manage that why should I have confidence in their ability to correct my account?
This is followed by another email and text that my payment is past due, I reply with a screenshot of the payment posting from my bank, they say after review my payment is still past due, so I tell them that if they don't have my payment then just cancel the policy.
So then I get a text saying my policy is canceled. Okay great what about the payment I made? In less than a minute I GET A TEXT SAYING I'LL GET A REFUND WITHIN 72 HOURS!
I call in and speak to an agent, she tells me the payment was scheduled on 4/28 on their end. She looked it up in 10 seconds. But since they canceled me via text my only option is to reinstate at full price.
No. I will not have this god-awful experience that triggered my PTSD on what was supposed to be a day of rest and act like nothing happened. This experience was pure trash. I'll go pay more elsewhere if I have to but having a flawless record for years should NEVER result an experience like this.
Not user friendly
Where to start? How about speed? When selecting certain options, it takes up to a full 2 minutes to get to the next screen. Let’s see, next? Ownership. For me in particular, this app tells me my husband is the owner of MY vehicle. No he is not. Only my name is on the title. But it is because he set up the insurance and apparently is insured even though I am on the insurance too. Very frustrating when trying to deal with claims that are about MY vehicle and they keep contacting him instead of me. That’s 2. What else? Oh, claims. Trying to resurrect a cancelled claim is nonexistent. Yet it tells you you already have a claim when you start another (because you can’t use the canceled one). Then they call you asking if you’re trying to start another claim. Let me tell you, from the minute I opened the app, it took over 30 minutes to get the new claim started after trying to resurrect the old one, move within the app, waiting for loads when trying find information. The actual time spent filling in information and submitting the new claim was only about 10 minutes if that. That is what is so frustrating about this app. The waiting time. It’s like when you get put on hold with any customer service. And the last issue I had, trying to find a contact number to call a representative so I didn’t have to use the app. I think the number I finally found had nothing to do with what I wanted to discuss. But I left a message anyway. This was Monday, today is Friday. Still no call back. However, I did get a call back within 30 minutes of submitting my new claim just to be told, they will cancel the new one and reopen the old one. And the kicker? I was at work trying to do all this. My 15 minute break to use the app, became a 30 minute break. I took my 30 minute lunch immediately after. She calls during my lunch and the call lasted 10-15 minutes. Still pisses me off she asked for my husband when it was MY car being discussed. FRUSTRATING to say the least. Oh, there is one good thing. Paying your bill on the app is a breeze! Very easy to do and takes about a minute.
I was a long time customer
I was a long time customer of geico for over 7 years and had been paying $155/month on my 2009 corolla, when I finally figured out I was paying a premium for a car that was over 10 yrs old. Literally went on their website, typed in my exact policy coverage and my monthly insurance was $60 less than what I had been paying for god knows how long!
I called to see what they could do but I called after hours and got a customer service rep and not someone who could actually adjust my quote or fully help me?! Anyways very nice woman, she said if I called back during business hours, you are eligible of a new price adjustment, I’m make a note on your account about it and they should help me!
1st I called, no help what so ever. She told me I was on the best priced option...that’s not what I was told and I would be able to have my policy re-evaluated. And I was told that what she did and it’s coming up the same. When I told her I’d matched my policy on your website and it was coming out much lower, there was nothing you could do? It was a nope, sorry!
Irritated, that maybe I had someone who wasn’t very knowledgeable so I gave it couple hours and called again. Basically the same thing but when I brought up the price difference this time this person said well your policy doesn’t expire for another 6 months so we can re-evaluate your policy until then?! ‘Uh...I’m sorry an I under some sort of contract?’ No ma’am you aren’t.
‘Oh, so I can cancel at any time?!’
Yes, you can. ‘No fees?’ No fees and if you cancel and already paid for the full month, we’ll credit you back the difference from the date you cancel.
So! LONG STORY... you’d rather lose a customer then to help them get a better rate on their car insurance?!?
I switched to PROGRESSIVE and am saving Almost $700 a year!
I have been douped for so many years with them. Don’t make the same mistake y’all!
Run! Price shop. I even told them I was shopping around and was told, that’s just a ploy to get you in, then it’s going to increase by double after I think they said 6 months. WRONG.
Great app, excellent service
I don’t usually write reviews but in this case I wanted to provide more detailed feedback than simply stars. The battery in my 2014 Mini Cooper had been struggling for a few wks, and with cold weather coming I knew I would be in for trouble soon if I didn’t do something. It finally fully failed this morning and apparently caused a number of bizarre error codes as it died. I called the dealer and they recommended I call a tow truck to bring it into the shop out in Sterling. The error codes included things like suspension balancing, stuff I’ve never seen warnings for so I worried my problem might be bigger than just the battery. Then my wife suggested our insurance might offer roadside assistance so I opened the app and easily found I could request a jump start from inside the app. Before venturing inside the app I pulled out the flimsy paper insurance ID card all insurers provide, and a quick scan didn’t immediately tell me how to get a jump without making a call which I imagined would lead to a wait and ‘automated’ directory system that tells me how important my business is to the company which I usually find laughable as I wait and wait. Inside the app I entered the nearest cross streets to my house and it automatically filled my home address and verified that I had a dead battery. It told me someone was on the way to provide a jump and gave an ETA of 45 mins. Then just a few mins later the app sent a text saying the assist ahead of schedule and was only 10 mins away! I was expecting a tow truck to pull up and a grizzled operator to climb out, but instead a compact car pulled up and a pleasant guy hopped out and quickly hooked up the jumper box and signaled for me to try and start it. It fired right up, and the guy said he didn’t want to be abrupt but he needed to get to the next stranded motorist. I’ve been a GEICO customer for ~20 yrs and recently added my house, my wife’s car (she switched from another provider). It’s experiences like today that remind me why GEICO is a great provider, and their easy to use app is another reminder that this company really gets their customers. Thanks GEICO!
GEICO by far best so far
GEICO for me is by far the best insurance I've had. I started with Allstate and was with them a long time. Allstate was good but after being with them for YEARS, I found my rates going up out of nowhere with really no notice or explanation and you would think being a long time customer they would work with your rate, notify you about, and possibly lower it at some point especially with never having one accident. For a short while I was with Nationwide and they were absolutely terrible. The rates were not good at all, information was not as accessible as you would think it should be and the representatives were not too helpful and didn't seem to like answering questions, let alone try to be polite to their own customers. When I left Nationwide they were going to have my last payment automatically taken out of my account as I always paid my payments that way. I literally discussed that with them and what my last payment would be. Months after getting rid of them and paying that last payment, I found myself receiving mail and phone calls from dept collectors because of them! They said I owed money to them after I paid my last payment (which of course had "miscellaneous" fees that didn't make sense and that I've never paid for before) which THEY themselves withdrew from my account! How can I owe them when they told me what I needed to pay and took that amount out of my account? As I said, Nationwide was terrible and I don't recommend them to anyone...they are not on your side :). Anyway, I've been with GEICO for a few years now and am loving it and don't see myself switching anytime soon. Everything is very transparent, accessible, and very well laid out for you. I've used the roadside assistance through calling them (extremely polite on the phone) and using their app multiple times and they're very accommodating and make what can be a stressful situation simple for yourself. I absolutely love the app. From your insurance ID cards to anything you want to know or change about your policy is right on there. It really is great and makes car insurance which I find can be a pain sometimes, so simple and understandable. Love the app and GEICO!
At least it works for cars
Let's face it, the entire world is going mobile. Those companies not paying developers top dollar to keep their user interfaces up to date and modern will be slowly passed on by tech savvy people like myself. Banks, insurance, schools, government, hackers and employers should all be embracing this mobile revolution like Geico because good tech actually makes a difference. Truly, if I could vote on my phone - I would probably vote. And this app is awe...some. For example, this past 2 weeks I needed to remove and add a new vehicle, as well as add... then remove and add another new motorcycle on my policy and I was almost able to do some of that completely from my iPhone. For example, I was able to take care of the auto stuff, which was very nice (5 stars). But almost none of the motorcycle features work because they have not integrated the auto and motorcycle systems yet. (minus 2 stars :( )And I did use my phone to add my new motorcycle, remove it 2 weeks later and add a new new motorcycle to my policy - But I didn't use the cool app because it doesn't allow motorcycle policy management. The app got me a few helpful quotes for different bike insurance (plus 1 star) and was able to play with the coverages to see how much money everyone else was entitled to if I hit them. Or, how much of my medical bills would be covered if I crashed. Which is important to know if you don't have any medical insurance because - its none. none. Insurance isn't designed to protect 'you'. But only the risk of anyone else suing you, or if someone is underinsured and hits you - than you can sue them by suing yourself because you bought insurance for just that reason. Or, for $400 more - I can actually insure my bike. What an intelligent system. And it's a good thing I had this app to check my coverages after that lovely lady added my new motorcycle to the policy when I called on my iPhone 6S (forgot the S before) because when I checked my policy, using this app, that the woman set up - it was almost exactly what she said it was, except it wasn't. I thought I was getting great coverage for $90 every 6 months. Boy, was I wrong. I asked for full coverage and got the state minimum coverage, in North Carolina. Not good insurance. Real Insurance turns out, cost real money. So, I had to call back and ask wth happened. "Of course I want collision on my motorcycle. If I crash and die my wife and kids will need that money to fly to the pacific and cast my ashes into the sea." And this app is responsible for all that. And one day - one day - I will be able to truly manage my policies on the fly. G E I C O - Government Employees Insurance Company O O O
Dishonest, misleading claim filing by Gieco
In February, my car was in the shop and the windshield of my rental got smashed by falling ice. Freak accident . I called a GEICO to find out what my glass repair deductible was in order to determine repair options. I was told by the agent that it was $50. Based on this information I agreed to file claim with Gieco. In a 3-way call initiated by the agent, the agent discussed with the enterprise manager, the claim and deductible. With GEICO on the line I paid the deductible amount quoted by Geico since I could not get a replacement car unless that was done. With the claim filed, enterprise replaced the rental and the car was towed to replace the windshield. On Friday 5/10, three months later, while trying to rent a car from enterprise I discovered a balance of $450 not paid by Geico yo enterprise. Enterprise informed me that they received my $50 deductible but Gieco had requested $501 return from enterprise on 5/2 This was never disclosed to me by Geico at that time. Upon calling Gieco for over an hour to get answers, I discovered that an adjuster called Carissa had altered the paperwork after I had filed the original claim and paid the deductible quoted by Gieco. She had also requested that enterprise return $501 on 5/2 that was paid previously for that claim. This left a debt in my name. This was never disclosed to me by either parties. Additionally, I got a collection notice the next day for this amount in the mail. Clients have a right to expect that Geico will not mislead or deceive them or that Gieco will not change paperwork after filing a claim and changing information previously disclosed to clients. This has caused havoc with my credit. I was unable to get any answers from Geico on Friday and I’m still waiting for a call back. It is unclear why Gieco deceived me or inform me on 5/2 that they had requested payment made to enterprise to be returned and left me with a debt. This was irresponsible. Not only did my credit take a hit but I missed an important function that I needed to attend. Enterprise would not let me get the reserved rental vehicle. My entire weekend was ruined and no one at Geico can explain why I was mislead and how they changed and messed up the paperwork after it was initially filed. Had Geico been honest with information from the beginning I would have opted for another repair option the day I called to get this information. This has caused so much chaos to a loyal costumer over a windshield repair of about $500- $900. I am totally shocked and distraught over the entire incident and am in process of seeking answers from the Department of insurance since Gieco is not forth coming in how they caused such a huge mess with my finances.
Geico is the “Easy Button” of Auto Insurance
It’s true in our experiences that Geico’s prices are lower than other insurance companies for the same coverage. We did not have to compromise our coverage in order to reduce our prices.
When we needed a new vehicle, Geico made the entire process of working with an adjuster so easy and effortless. I was incredibly busy when I had to get a new car and it was so helpful that Geico provided coverage for a car rental during that time. The dealership was delayed with getting everything completed and I needed the rental for another day or two. Our adjuster didn’t hesitate to extend the rental coverage.
I think a big part of the ease and convenience that makes everything in Geico a well oiled machine is that they are very up-to-date on technology and their customer care is excellent. The app makes life so easy because everything is at my fingertips and it’s a user-friendly app. I don’t have to worry about keeping track of paper because my insurance cards are in my app. They get automatically updated instantly. I don’t have to wait for anything to arrive in the mail. It’s easy to manage multiple vehicles and anything you want covered.
Geico texts and emails notifications. When my credit card expired, Geico sent notified me to update my payment info. I was on auto pilot with my auto payments and wasn’t even paying attention to the usual texts acknowledging my autopayment but Geico was persistent in getting my attention to update my payment information. Compared to our previous carrier, the notifications mean a lot.
When we had State Farm Insurance, they allowed my credit card to expire and never told me that our automatic payments were interrupted! That caused our insurance to be dropped and a whole domino effect of problems. We had to go to the DMV to get new plates and complete new forms and pay fines and jump through hoops of frustration. Meanwhile State Farm could’ve contacted us in a multitude of ways to tell us.
I used to think having a local office with personal insurance agents was an advantage but in this case at State Farm it was not. All of those people who knew us personally never bothered to call us and tell us our automatic payments were interrupted due to our credit card expiring. We were with State Farm for 25 years! And their response when we called them on their lack of communication was to deflect ownership. We were truly disappointed and appalled. But it’s therapeutic being able to roast State Farm now for their antiquated practices and for overcharging us for years while hiding behind so-called discounts (we had many discounts for both of us being accident-free, multiple coverages, house alarm system, car alarms and high safety auto ratings, etc.). Even my parents who had State Farm for >40 years left them.
So I’m incredibly grateful that Geico is great with their communication and uses the latest technology to make everything easier and convenient. I’ve also found the customer service to be personable, friendly, professional, competent, and they try to make everything easy. In fact, I feel they are more helpful and competent than any local agent we had with previous insurance companies with the long-timers who tend to get stale, rigid, outdated, and out of touch changes in technology and pricing. Any time I tried to lower my prices they simply deflected ownership by telling us they input the information in the computer and it spits out a number and they can’t change anything. So what was the point of having the local agents when they have no control over pricing and they don’t communicate effectively?
Having said that, Geico does have local offices with live agents if someone feels more comfortable speaking to them in person. But I find that the more recent generations prefer to use their time more wisely than driving to offices if it’s unnecessary. With all the technology or even a phone call, brick-and-mortar offices are becoming obsolete.
Thank you Geico!
Best rate for the insurance offered
Best app too, for all I know--I haven't tried other insurance apps. It has a lot of little perks to it, such as helping you find the cheapest gas in town. Restaurants and other things like that. It's almost like you're surprised you can't order a pizza from it it's that extensive...You can make your payments from it. You can change things about your policy from it. You can request new ID cards to print wirelessly.
***OFF TOPIC, BUT USEFUL***
I convert my ID cards (as well as the policy) to PDF files using Readdle's PDF Converter and save to iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Documents by Readdle.
I also save them as a photo screenshot in case in get pulled over without fast access to my clouds, or if I haven't got a hard copy with me for some reason or another.
>>You could call me a "document survivalist" with a large document/file/audio recording/photo/video vault. I document everything and save EVERY document, photo, video, etc. to my device's Photos or Notes App, off-device cloud accounts, then send them to my email(s).
I'm going through a divorce which explains all of the documenting, and have temporarily lost simple luxuries like printing photos for family albums...I need the insurance of multiple back ups, what can I say? Maybe I won't be so OCD about it when I get my marriage settlement & life starts to look & act normal again.
This app hijacked my phone while a GEICO agent conducted unauthorized eavesdropping
Before you download this app, READ this review!
I am giving this app a 1 star review for several reasons. The most important reason is that this app hijacked my phone while a GEICO agent called me and then continued listening to my end of the phone long after the agent pretended to hang up. Yes! This really happened today!
I downloaded this app because I wanted to start a claim and do a photo estimate and avoid unnecessary travel to a body shop as well as avoid tying up my phone with calls to GEICO. As soon as I started the claim and answered a few multiple choice questions, the app took me to a photo taking stage, where I took a couple photos before being interrupted by a call from a GEICO agent. That happened within a couple minutes. Very fast. For a corporate giant and especially for an insurance company, nothing is by chance: everything is by design. Strangely, the GEICO app did not allow my phone to show that there was a live phone call taking place and how long the call was lasting, as all other apps do with a small phone call time ticker in the upper corner of the screen.
The agent didn’t ask any questions that weren’t asked in the app, which made the purpose of the call seem suspicious. After only a few quick and unnecessary questions, which only took a minute, the agent and I said good bye. However, with the GEICO app open, and the photo stage active, I was unable to verify that the phone call was actually terminated. Because I continued to hear the static sound of a live call through my phone’s speaker, I said “Hello? Hello?” The agent did not respond. It was then that I tried to terminate the call myself. However, the GEICO app would not permit me to minimize the GEICO app so I could do so. At this point, I attempted to turn off my phone by holding down the power off button. However, the GEICO app would not allow my phone to perform the shut down function either. This, combined with the unauthorized eavesdropping by GEICO agents after GEICO pretended to end the call, is what I mean by “hijacking my phone.” I checked the tone on the phone again and I could still hear that the call was live. Not wanting the GEICO agent to hear that I was aware of the intrusion, I set my phone in my garage and went back into my house while telling my family about what was happening with the GEICO app and GEICO agent.
Afterwards, I retrieved my phone from my garage and continued my effort to leave the GEICO app. The only way to minimize the GEICO app or exit the GEICO app during the photo taking stage is to finish taking all of the required 10 photos, approving of the photos, and clicking on the upload button. Because it was freezing outside of my home, and I wanted to verify that call was terminated, I took photos of my floor and approved of them one by one then clicked on the upload button. I thought I would be able to go back right afterwards and delete the photos of my floor and upload proper photos.
After I clicked on the upload button, only then was I able to minimize the GEICO app. With that app minimized, I was able to verify that the phone call with the GEICO agent was in fact terminated. I can honestly tell you that the call log states that the call lasted a full 5 minutes yet the conversation with the agent only lasted a small fraction of that time. Meaning, GEICO did continue to eavesdrop after pretending to terminate the call. I then turned the heat up in my garage so I could take proper photos without freezing (it is -13F today).
Peculiarly, once I clicked that upload button, I was unable to delete any of the photos I took of my floor. I did have the option to upload additional photos and I tried to do so. However, the GEICO app would not provide me with a full screen view of the camera lens but rather a screen that was maybe 1/4 to 1/5 of the size AND that size was also fish-eyed and looked very distorted, making it difficult to add any additional photos that I would believe to be meaningful. Why would an insurance app be designed this way, unless of course GEICO believes that the best photos are the ones instantaneously taken when clients click on the claim button. Why else would this app discourage additional photos being uploaded after the claim is originally submitted?
Download this app at your own risk. At your own peril! You have been warned! You can still submit claims on the website if you want to do it online without downloading this app.

Careful getting quotes
I was getting a quote to add a diver and at the end the driver was added to my policy, and they immediately increased my payments. I couldn't delete the driver since I don't have proof of previous insurance for him. This is a brand new diver! Disappointed

Almost Cancelled and in Autopay
My account was setup in autopay. Everything was fine for about 4 months and all of a sudden the auto payment stopped and I received a notice of cancellation for nonpayment. Very concerned to say the least. I guess I need to go back to writing checks and buying stamps.

Worst company I’ve ever had
They raise my rates stating it’s because of the amount of damage my vehicle “could” cause if involved in an at fault accident. Meanwhile, haven had an accident nor an at fault one ever. So I’m being punished because I have a base model pick up truck in my plan.
Progressive just gave me a lower rate

No communication
I have one vehicle insured in AZ and two others in IN. Geico split my insurance policies without notifying me and next thing we know, we have a cancellation notice. If they had informed us of the split, and attached the two policies instead of not communicating at all, it could have saved us some stress.

Emailed the company with a concern about a week ago. Stills have not received a reply. I have two auto policies and two homeowner policies through Geico. Over the past 15 years they have received thousands of dollars from me and I've never gotten anything in return...Not even a reply to my email asking a simple question.

Don’t update
Beware Geico will not show you ‘most recent’ reviews for this app.
Why?
Because ever since the most recent update the geico mobile app now takes FOREVER to load up.
I’d hate to be in an car accident and having to blankly stare at the screen waiting for it to load so I could prove I have insurance cards. BE WARNED DO NOT UPDATE.

Cancelation
Your site does not complete the cancelation request after taking you thru all the steps by showing an alert that reads “ due to the complexity of your request, it can not be handled online. Call...”
What is complex about canceling one policy?
Why do you have me select the policy, Choose the cancelation date, then deny my request.

Can’t edit
When you view account info app won’t let you edit stuff. When you search for help (like: how to remove driver, edit name or account info) it will take you to the page where the info is listed, include a pop up that here is where you can change info, but there’s no actual function or button or ability to edit the info in the app. Super annoying

Changing cards
I changed my card and got a confirmation email stating that my account would be charged to my new card I’ve submitted but it still tried to charge previous card and failed to charge even tho I had the confirmation email so now I have to deal with it even further when I resolved issue already I will be calling if I have 2 charges against my account

Slow and never works when I need it to
Every time I use the mobile app there’s at least a 2-3 minute wait for it to even load, and I know it’s the app because my connection to everything is just fine. On top of that once it finally does load there are ALWAYS errors and “unexpected issues” that tell me to call their customer service line. What’s the point of having an app when 99.9% of the time I’m force to just use their website or call them?

Poor service / blame digging
I was given 3 different reasons for a price increase.
Reason 1. Accident where our car was struck when legally parked with no one in the vehicle. No claim against our policy. Other driver paid.
Reason 2. My daughters age, she was included at time of starting the policy. Increase was one year after starting the policy.
Reason 3. Marriage status of my daughter. Her status has always been single student.
All three reasons given on the same day

Liars
I called in to change my payment plan to monthly instead of every 6 months, and they said it was fine assuring me I wouldn’t be charged the bi-annual amount. Sure enough it never got updated, and my account was overdrawn resulting in bounced checks and overdraft fees-one of them being for child support. The payment was denied by my bank, and they just tried to do it again. They are making a mess and nobody seems to care.
Not funny Geico. Live up to your word...

Terrible customer service with app
I switched my bank account on this app and it tried to pull from my old account and then threatened with cancellation when I’ve been with Geico for years! I changed my pmt date on the app by one day because I was changing banks and then it must have still tried to pull it the day before when it showed me confirmed to change the date AND charged me more now for it. I should have just called like I normally would but I trusted the app. Won’t make that mistake again.

Screwed
I’ve been with this company for 8 yrs and recently had my FIRST accident and my insurance ballooned almost $150. I am looking for new insurance and all customer service says is “they automatically do it through the computer, we aren’t in control”. How disappointing after all these years of paying you so much and the first I need you I get bent over. Sad
Funny...I went to post this under the nickname “donewrong” and it was already taken. Clearly I’m not the only one!

Extremely displeased
Very displeased with Geico right now. I have auto pay set up for the 18th of every month. After having my identity stolen & closing my bank account and opening a new one I let Geico know the same day this all took place which was the 17th. They then proceeded to still charge the old closed account after my update & charge me a $15 dollar fee for the return of payment. It’s almost 2019 you need to update whatever system you are on. Very displeased and I be shopping around.

Very dishonest company
Had Perfect Driving Record no tickets no accidents and a young driver makes a left turn on my Green light and Geico blames us for the accident when we went through a Green Light And the other driver went through a Red light the driver confessed it to the police officer so i want to Warn everyone this is a very dishonest and dangerous Company the cheaper price is not worth the damage this Insurance company will do to your record. Our Ins rates doubled.
Update 10/17 they raised there rates for no reason they can care less about their customers.

Roadside assistance
I had an incident where I broke down on the side of the road today with my son and called roadside assistance. I was greeted by a nice professional person named Keisha. She took my info, and looked up tow companies to come aid me and after trying two or three different companies, kept coming back on the line to tell me that the companies either had their men on the road out of my area, or would not accept payment from their insurance company. I would have to call myself, find a tow company, pay. Them out of pocket and be reimbursed by Geico. I couldn’t believe my ears. I pay my premium every month on time, and expect a service provided to “work” and help me! She kept telling me she couldn’t help me. I told her I was extremely frustrated and the company was useless in regards to this service! I am considering switching companies I’m so mad! Their left me stranded on side of road.

QUOTES ARE AUTOMATIC!
This company is a joke. If I could give them zero stars I would! I’ve been with Geico for less than a month. Through the app I tried getting a “QUOTE” just see how much it would be to add a friend onto my policy. Turns out Geico just doesn’t give you a quote, instead, they automatically enroll the person onto my policy. I call them to have my friend removed and was asked to provide proof of insurance for my friend for him to be removed. (My friend does not own a vehicle so he has no auto insurance) I was told he would need to purchase a liability coverage insurance as proof to have him removed from my policy. I told them we do not live together, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to remove him from my policy. The woman said, “no problem, email us proof of residency; 2 recent utility bills and a bank statement.” Emailed them proof and instead they kept my friend on and increased the policy. Called them back and was told “oh because my friend lives only 3 miles away from me they can’t remove him, he would need the liability coverage insurance to be removed.” After calling a few insurance companies, I found out that you cannot get liability coverage insurance if you do not own a vehicle. The only option for my friend to be removed from my policy is to be put on someone else’s insurance policy. Soo my advice to you is NEVER TRY TO GET A QUOTE THROUGH THIS COMPANIES APP OR THEIR WEBSITE. I sure as hell won’t be renewing with them as I’m currently searching for another insurance company.
