Booking
Booked a room through this rip-off company. Called, booked, was guaranteed early check-in, and prepaid with my debit card. Once family arrived at motel 30 minutes after the time we was promised to check in (noon). The lady working the front desk was extremely rude and raised her voice. She yelled that online booking didn't know what they was doing and she absolutely would not let them check in until after 3pm. Also the photos online were nothing like the motel! This place was dirty and there were even charcoal grills sitting outside some of the rooms (like people were living there!). Called booking company back three times and was hung up on all 3 times. Put on hold for 30 minutes plus then disconnected all three times. Do better and have better customer service and support!
Desired outcome: Refund for a room that was never used and research your motels better. You should not book rooms for travelers if this is a place people are using to live out of. Yuck!!
Booking a hotel room
I booked a room for June 11, 2022 at Hampton Inn in Webster, Texas. I thought I was on the Hilton website for bookings. I was in a hurry and didn't pay attention to the details. The room was $149 per night. They charge me $66.63 for tax recovery and service fee. Normal service fees are usually between 10 % to 20%. I checked with the hotel prior to leaving that day and they said the room would have cost $148.19 included all taxes. Therefore I assume that the $66.63 was a service fee charge of 45%. I'm OK with a service fee however 45 % is excessive. I called both the hotel and company and they would not confirm the cost of the hotel room. I called my VISA company and disputed the $66.63 charge and they resolved it and I got back that amount. Two takeaways: (1) If service fee is excessive dispute the amount with your credit card or (2) Find the phone number of hotel that you are trying to book and call them. It is best not to book online unless you are 100 % sure it is the hotel company where you are trying to book.
Desired outcome: The problem was resolved.
Scam company masquerading as the hotel website, added 50% fees
I was in a hurry to get a reservation booked and did not notice that the Hotel Values website was not the actual hotel's website. I hit the "reserve" button before I noticed the additional charges. When I looked closer, it was a scam. Please avoid doing any kind of business with HotelValues.com.
They will not let you cancel. I am going to refute the transaction with VISA. I am also going to contact the hotel chain to urge them to discontinue doing business with HotelValues.com.
Judging from the Hotel Values' customer service person's response, he must hear the same complaints all day, every day.
If enough of us complain and refute the charges maybe this scam company will go out of business.
Desired outcome: Refund of the overcharge on my VISA, and warning for other consumers about the company's scam..
I'm disputing $729 from a reservation I just made thinking I was on the Hilton website not even 2 hours ago. They said they called Hilton to get the ok to reverse my charges and Hilton said no so I called the hotel and they confirmed that they would not refund my charge! I'm taking this up to the top because they should not be doing business with hotelvalues.com! I'm so angry right now!
Scam company! Hotelvalues screwed us out of $227. When the power went out at our hotel we left and was promised s refund hahahahaha yeah right they [censored]ed us good.
Booking service
My travel plans changed very last minute for child care and I was going to be arriving a couple days later than anticipated. I called a few hours after the deadline for a refund. I was ok with that but then another call I was told that my room wasn’t even guaranteed to be available (despite paying for it) because I was not checking in on the day I said I would. Even the hotel wouldn’t help me. They told me I should cancel (lose my $) and then rebook to ensure I had a room. Such a scam
I spoke to 4 people and also the cost for the room is more than booking with the hotel. I don’t know how I wound up booking with them be the hotel
I’m contesting the credit card charges with my bank. These guys are awful
Desired outcome: full refund
Did you get refunded?
Misleading advertisement
This website ripped me off! They disguise under Hilton (making you think you are actually making a reservation with the actual Hilton). Then when I realized after I received my confirmation, I saw the BS. I then tried to cancel and the small writing said:
Cancellation Policy:Each room in this reservation is subject to the hotel's cancellation policy which is: Cancellations before 05/24/2022, 11:59 PM (America/New York) are fully refundable. Bookings cancelled after 05/24/2022, 11:59 PM (America/New York) are subject to a fee of 171.64 USD. There is no refund for no-shows, early checkouts, or cancellations after 05/29/2022, 10:00 AM (America/New York).
The problem with this was that I made my reservation on the 25th! How can they do this? They know what they are doing and are willing to continue to rip hard working people off by keeping $171.64 because of their sneaky advertising!
Desired outcome: Return my $171.64 or at least get them off of the internet! Scammers is all they are![protected]@hotelvalues.com is their email return. Guest Reservations - Reservation Confirmation #R3437084908 my confirmation rip off nubmer!
Did the same thing to ME! Just now! Did you get refunded? I already disputed the charge with my credit card company. I feel so disgusted because I called the actual hotel and they agreed I wouldn't get a refund, just 2 minutes after making the reservation! I am going to raise hell!
Reservations
Made reservations online for Red Roof Inn, Tinton NJ - thought for $160/night.
Cancellation notice said - contact hotel for their cancellation policy. We contacted the hotel and they said they could cancel if it was them, but not 'hotel values'
When confirmation email was received - Tax and fees ADDED ON WITHOUT NOTICE = $176.73
Robot would not let us talk to human
Robot asked if we want to cancel - we said yes.
Robot cancelled AND kept our money.
We contacted Red Roof Inn, Tinton NJ and they still had our reservation and were paid $340.79.
Our total amount to hotelvalues.com was $496.11
Desired outcome: refund OR at least that our reservation is honored
To clarify - hotel values says we have NO reservation - it has been cancelled.
Hotel values are fraud. They charged 90usd from me but no confirmation was given to this hotel.
Refused to refund or credit the cost of one extra night that was booked by mistake
This website is misleading - the way they use Google ads to trick you - I thought I was booking through the Hilton Hotels website. I called and asked for a refund of cost one nights accommodation that was booked by mistake. They say it’s prepaid and their are no refunds. Asked to speak to supervisor and was put on hold for 15 minutes. How someone can take your money for something you don’t need is unconscionable. These guys are outlaws.
Desired outcome: Give me a refund
couldn't agree more. i thought i was booking directly with Holiday Inn and only realized it was 3rd party after i received confirmation. my reservation was refundable but it was only 1 night and i just left it alone. the hotel had some emergency the day prior to my arrival and needed to cancel all reservations for the next day. i wasn't notified by website or hotel. after 6 hour drive i am told that i have no hotel room for that night. the hotel claimed that 3rd party websites wont give contact info (no idea if that's correct) so they had no way to get in touch. they said the website was notified. when i called to get refund, they were rude and left me holding for over 20 minutes. i was able to get a room elsewhere out of sheer luck but still doesn't make it right. i will be more careful next time and will never ever use a 3rd party website again. its not worth the risk.
Ditto, this is the worst website ever! I even tried to google search them and it was very difficult! Do NOT EVER use these scam artists! Hilton (I too was fooled thinking it was the official Hilton website) should look into these people who just take people's money since they obviously cannot do it by being honest!
Exactly same thing happened to me! I thought I booked hotel through Hiltons, but not. And they charged ridiculously high fees that wasn't fully disclosed when I made my reservation.
These guys are outlaws!
Paid way too much
I made a reservation on what appeared to be the hotels website for a good rate, after a bunch of fees it turned out to be $30 more than if I had just walked in and paid for the room.
It then took two hours to get in the room after a full hour of being on hold.
I asked for a cancelation and refund, I was told there was a $40 cancelation fee and it would take 30 days.
My day was literally ruined.
This company is a scam and should be shut down.
Desired outcome: Close down this website and all the others the company owns.
Hospitality
This site is a total scam. I always book directly with hotel brand and was somehow under the understanding that it Hilton. I was charged a fair $225 per night charge then they added an additional $125 “ fee” DO NOT BOOK ON THIS SITE! Booking was April 30 to May 1st.
Desired outcome: Credit for $125.00
Reservation for staybridge montgomery alabama april 14th.
This website charges outrageous fees to customers booking on their site, which I have never seen or heard of in Hospitality industry. On a reservation of $1130, this site charged us $471.99 in taxes and recovery fees. Recovery of what?
Taxes for the room was 15% which comes out to $169.50. So they charged us $302.49 more as commission on a 5 nights stay.
These third party website also get 15 to 20% commission from the hotel too. SO they are charging both the guests and the hotel.
I am truly baffled on how this site is allowed to operate at such exorbitant commissions. There is no BBB looking into their practices?
I called their Customer Service for an explanation of their recovery fees and she had no answer. After much questioning, she offered me a refund of $208 which is still not credited to my credit card after 2 weeks.
Desired outcome: This HotelValue.com site need to refund my full extra $302.49 as there is no reason for them to charge that.
Hotel reservations.
4/25/22, 19:07.
All activity looked as if we were booking directly with the hotel. The confirmation email then added an extraordinary up charge. They represented the hotel as a no refund policy. We contacted the hotel and was told it was the booking parties policy. We called hotelvalues.com and they blamed the hotel policy. Stay away from hotelvalues.com
The hotel $124,
Hotelvalues.com $377.91
Hotel fees
I books a room in a. Very small motel. Not even close to holiday inn and I was charged 165.00 for service fees for using this serve which was more than I paid for the room for one night books June 3-5 2022 for bike week never been charge service fees before
Desired outcome: Would like fees credited
Reservation
The website is a rip-off. They charge Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees
US$245.61. In addition to your reservation.
It horrible! I ask for a supervisor to call me back... no one called
They was a storm in NY at the time for my booking. (power outages) couldn't access the website.
I couldn't cancel my reservation.
I received the confirmation the next morning.
I told Bernieth C.
Customer Service what happened. She stated that it's not her problem.
That if I cancel I will be charge a fee of $92.95.
Don't book with them...
Desired outcome: Refund me my fee
Quote one price and charge another
Hotelvalues.com is an absolute scam. I confirmed three times the total amount with taxes waa $159 for my hotel room. While I was on the phone paying for my room I got an alert from my credit card that I had been charged $241. I told the rep at that moment that the charge was incorrect and to refund the incorrect charge or cancel the transaction. The rep became very rude and refused. I asked for a supervisor and after holding for 45 min they hung up on me. I called back and each time they hung up on me and would not speak with me. I am disputing the charge with my cc company. Do not book with hotel values.com. They are CROOKS!
Desired outcome: I want my money back.
Very confusing booking system
Book Hilton Hilton Orrington at Evanston, price show $112 but Tax Recovery Charges is 62, after I realized that tax recovery charge is too high, I made phone call for cancellation, the phone auto answer system has option to cancel, so I canceled and received cancellation email. then I book same hotel with Expedia with much reasonable price.
However HomeValues.com still charge me $177, they don't even report cancellation to Hilton.
It is very confusing booking system.
Hotelvalues.com is a complete rip-off! I thought I was booking a reservation with La Quinta Inn and Suites but when I got the invoice, it showed that I had booked through hotelvalues.com. The site indicated the room reservation was $172.05, but I was charged an additional $82.51 for "Tax Recovery Charges and Service Fees." At La Quinta the tax and fees amounted to only $24.35, so I was overcharged by almost $60.00 and this turned out to be non-refundable. AVOID HOTELVALUES.COM!
Hotel booking
I am also charged with a higher price for booking a hotel. It’s in USD so, more getting of money from your bank will take place. I tried to book again but this time, I just want to see how monkey play they do to trick people. At the bottom before clicking the confirm booking that you will be charged in USD. So, if you hurry up clicking to book, your card will be right away get charged! I also read their terms and condition, wow, they are fully covered. They played with the law so well! They will show a low hotel price but in the end it will get doubled because of the hidden charges they called Tax Recovery Charges!
What are Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees?
This charge includes the estimated amount we pay the hotel for occupancy related taxes owed by the hotel and any amounts charged to us for resort fees, cleaning fees, and other fees. The balance of the charge is a fee we, the hotel supplier and/or the website you booked on, retain as part of the compensation for our and/or their services which varies based on factors such as location, the amount, and how you booked.
Plus, the number they put on the email confirmation for help and queries is not working! What a scam!
Beware of this hotelvalues.com. Rip off! They will get their due for stealing people’s money.
Desired outcome: I want a refund on the charge that I am not aware off! I am not paying the Tax Recovery. They ahould shoulder it!!
Will not refund even though hotel authorized!!! Excessive service fees $255.20 charges for a $570 weekend!!!
On 3/25/2022 - 3/28/2022 I had reservations at Celeste Hotel in Orlando, FL. In the amount of $833.21 charged to my AMEX.
On 3/24/2022 I woke up with extreme abdominal pain in turn had emergency appendicitis surgery on 3/25/2022 the same day we were to check into Celeste.
On 3/24/2022 – While waiting in the ER my wife called Celeste and cancelled our reservation. They said that medical conditions are refunded under there cancellation clause. If anything, I may have to provide hospital documentation as proof.
On 4/2/2022 – No Refund... I called Getaroom.com spoke with Ramon who generated a ticket # and I emailed Holy Cross 7pg hospital release, along with authorizing them to share any and all documentation to 3rd parties.
Wait 3-5 days for refund.
On 4/11/2022 – No Refund…I called Getaroom.com spoke with Sarah who put me on hold to call Rocky at Celeste said reservation had not been cancelled and that’s why no refund had been issued.
Wait 3-5 days for a refund.
On 4/16/2022 – No Refund…I called Getaroom.com who informed me that Booking.com cancelled the reservation on 4/2/2022 but never informed Celeste about the cancellation therefore Celeste never issued a credit.
Wait 3-5 days for a refund.
On 4/20/2022 – No Refund…I called Celeste spoke with John the Manager who informed me that they never charged my credit card that I needed to contact PriceLine.com they are the ones that show up on there computer.
In 11/2021 - PriceLine.com purchased HotelValues.com for $1.4 Billion by deceiving, lying and utter exhausting by trying to get a refund for a valid medical reason that the Hotel itself is willing to refund and these 3RD Parties kept all the money for themselves.
Desired outcome: Refund $833.21
Unauthorized credit card charge
Online the rate showed $159 CA and I hit confirm booking. Next screen says thank you and confirmation. No list of price.
Confirmation email shows an extra $92 of ‘taxation fees and processing fees’.
Booking R3328299012
When I called to ask for refund 26hrs later they offered me $22CA off.
I asked for a COMPLETE REFUND.
I did NOT authorize an extra $92 to be charged to my credit card!
Desired outcome: FULL Refund
Unauthorized credit card charge
4/17/22 was looking for a room at the Hilton Inn. Keyed in the google search for Hilton Inn near me and found one. I thought I was on the Hilton Inn site because it had a picture of the hotel I wanted to stay. I have stayed there before and knew the rooms were between $129 - $149 a night. Their was a "Find a Room" link on the site so I clicked on it and the site had rooms starting at $129 - $179. I chose the $129 room and clicked on the link to confirm the reservation. The reservation page stated the cost of the room as $129.00 plus applicable taxes and than asked me for my credit card info / billing address. Once I put in the information, and clicked submit, my credit card was charged $197.17. I quickly scanned the receipt to see why the cost was so high and I found a line item on it that stated :Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees? - US$73.33. I clicked on the "?" to find out what the definition of tax recovery Charges was and it stated "This Charge Includes the estimated amount we pay the hotel for occupancy related taxes owed by the hotel and any amounts charged to us for resort fees, cleaning fees and other fees. The balance of the charge is a fee we the hotel supplier and/or the website you booked on, retain as part of the compensation for our and/or their services which varies based on factors such as location, the amount and how you booked". In summary, Hotelvalues.com added a 60% ($73.33) surcharge fee without my knowledge or authorization. After I saw the charge come through my credit card for the amount of US$197.17, I immediately tried to cancel my reservation but Hotelvalues.com states that "Each room in this reservation is subject to the hotel's cancellation policy which is: This reservation is non-refundable. There is no refund for no-shows or early checkouts." When I checked in to the Hilton Inn, I spoke to the manager who stated that the Hotel has no such policy but they could not refund my service fee because it was booked through a 3rd party. Lesson here is that any website (Hotelvalue.com) who has to hide a 60% booking fee from the consumer until after your credit card has been charged deserves to be taken down and prosecuted. If any Lawyers out there read this, I have all the documentation ready to go.
Desired outcome: My "desired outcome" would be to hold responsible and prosecute Hotelvalue.com for a verity of charges including "Unauthorized Charges to a Credit Card i.e. Theft" to misrepresenting themselves as an agent of Hilton Inn's.
Exorbitant Fees
I had had only 3 hours of sleep the night before. I went online to Red Lion's website and without realizing it I was directed to Hotelvalues.com. I booked a room and then realized that I was charged an additional 50% in fees. I have called their customer service number and have been on hold for an hour now.
I also had a horrendous experience at the motel. If I was safe driving I would have left. There were a dozen usual items missing, stains, very dirty floors and baseboard, broken furniture, it was disgusting.
Desired outcome: Full refund of their fees and full refund for the motel cost.
