Italian General Consulate In London Italian citizenship in virtue of marriage

Staff at italian consulate have no idea how is hard for us citizens (italian or not) to get in the consulate, I live far away form london, I had to wake up 3 am to be in london at 9:30 am, it was a massive queue to get into the consulate. The reception's guy was okay, polite but the person that attend me after was so unhappy, I don't understand why staff can treat us so badly, I felt so bad when I left the consulate yesterday, I felt like I was a piece of s$%t. Why are they so rude? Seems that I was there bothering them, they are always ready to attack us or blame us for no reason. They have no empathy what so ever, I am really disappointed. I don't speak italian and because of that I felt that I was treated unfairly for the staff. We should be able to evaluated the customer services provided by consulate and then we could expect a change...

Italian General Consulate In London Booking appointment

My daughter and I live in Bournemouth, Dorset and the only consulate that we can renew our passport is London. We have been trying to get an appointment for 3 months now, the telephone lines are always busy.
what kind of a call centre has only one line, without a message or telling you that you are in the queue?

My daughter passport expires in June 2018 and mine in January 2019, however I am travelling to South Africa to see family in September and the South African government requires 6 month to be on your passport before it expires, if you want to enter the country.

I have phoned one of the Honorary consul and asked if I could go and get a passport there (Bedford) was advised that I cannot as I do not live in the area. This is positively disgusting of the Italian government, what kind of consulate operates like this?
you can try phoning at 8.45am and it is busy until 12.57 then you get a message that it is closed...what call centre is this? they can determine when a previous call ends? exactly 2 minutes before 1.00pm when they close ... shocking service.
I will try and contact Italy and advise them of the sham that is the Italian Consulate in London.

Dear Mr Marco Villani and Mr Pasquale Terracciano,

I have been trying to make an appointment for myself and my two daughters with the Consulate General of Italy in London for about 1 month now by calling [protected] from between 8.45 am to 1.00 pm Monday to Friday as directed, but to no avail. The line is constantly busy. In fact, only this morning I started calling from 8.30am. It went straight to an automated answering service after only 1 ring. I hung up and redialled right away, and I kept on doing this for about two minutes. Each call lasted no more than 5 seconds. I got distracted by something, but I returned to calling the consulate only two minutes later to find that the line was already busy.

I have done some research and I have discovered that this is a problem that many other Italian citizens like myself who are residing here in London or rather in the UK and are registered with the Consulate "all'AIRE" are facing and have been facing. Here are some recent examples besides my own:

Laura Bellucci Staunton

Was there any update? My parents have made over 200 call to the ‘phone line’ and no answer! How are you supposed to renew your passport? What a joke they need to shut it down and start again!

The following person had been trying to get in touch with them for about two months, and it was 1 month ago he posted the following message saying that his passport had already expired :

Basilio Martino

1 month ago ago

E da 2 mesi che cerco di fare un appuntamento. Nel frattempo il passaporto e scaduto. Propio non riesco a capire perché nel 2018 non si può effettuare un appuntamento online! BOH!

Agreeing with Basilio Martino, the following gentleman only 4 weeks ago had this to say:

Federico Favuzzi

4 weeks ago ago

Now more than ever Italian expats need to get their passport fast. It's not rocket science to keep a bloody online diary where people can book their appointment.

In fact, he problem is so bad that there is a petition online which has generated to date over 4, 100 signatures: Petition

This is absolutely disgraceful service! You must surely agree with me! I remember the days when I could just walk in and get what I needed done on the spot only after a brief wait. Long gone are those days, but it doesn't have to be that way!

Please for heaven's sake, listen to the many thousands beside the above who are crying out for righteousness and justice to be done by their elected government officials. Be the ones to have a conscience. Be the ones to break the disgraceful reputation that we Italians have with regard to bureaucratic inefficiency and laziness on behalf of its civil servants. This is a scathing review of the Italian Consulate General of London's service: Review of service

This inefficiency is explained by not having any on line booking service, which used to be available for us to use. I used it when I booked my daughters' first passports and registered their births. And as far as laziness is concerned, there is no alternative explanation as to why the phones are constantly busy, even before they're supposed to be open for the public to make their appointments.

I therefore sincerely hope that you will do something about rectifying the problem. Basilio Martino and Federico Favuzzi above have offered a constructive suggestion to rectifying the problem, which I completely agree with.

To the Consulate General, Italian Consulate in London, My name is Wesley De Magalhaes and I am an Italian subject. I have been having problems with the renewal of my Italian passport.
Upon my arrival in the UK I was unaware that I needed to register with the AIRE, if I had known that fact I would have immediately registered. I need to renew my passport as it expires on the 26th on June 2017 and I have been unable to contact the London consulate for an appointment. I have even asked my mother who lives in Italy to try call on my behalf as I'm at work all day and cant risk losing my job because I'm on the phone trying to contact the consulate, she too was unsuccessful, my mother then went to the Comune di Varese and they told her I had to register with AIRE online. After numerous attempts to register online and even creating a new email address I was then able to register but I was not given the activation code to fully complete my registration after being told the registration was successful.
I have my family in Italy who i visit regularly and I am due to visit and go away on holiday with them in August to Rimini, Italy. My passport expires on the 26th of June this year and is vital that I get my passport renewed to keep in contact with my family. My grandparents are both in their 90's and if something had to happen to them I would not be able to get there to be of assistance.
I am disappointed at how the Italian consulate in London handles Italian subjects in situations like this. I would have expected by now to have heard back from the consulate about my AIRE registration activation code.
I'm hoping that this letter/complaint serves the purpose of giving better service and assistance to Italian subjects living abroad.
I hope that someone will assist me promptly in solving my dilemma.
Sincerely, Wesley De Magalhaes

Right,
In April last year I’ve been to the Honorary consulate in Liverpool to register my marriage, apply for my ID card and also change address which was all done by the lovely Dra.BERTALI a truly Italian citizen and very well educated lady. So, all documents and fees and prepaid envelope was sent to the consulate in London
And now after a year they’ve send me all documents back saying it need to be legalised in brasil which by the way have been done and verified by DRa.BERTALI.
I would like to to say that the staff in the consulate in London is far out they league. They are very RUDE, UMPOLITE and NASTY not to say the worst. I am very disappointed with this consulate as every time I need it I have problems
