Just got a box Kraft Velveeta Cheese (used to use it on burgers, dogs, crackers, scrambled eggs grilled cheese sandwich and in a sauce on Pittsburg potatoes. It WON'T melt. Mixed it into hot mashed potatoes and ate it finding the same chunks of cheese unmelted? put it on scrambled eggs in a cast iron pan with cover on it and after an extra long time the cheese looked like I just cut it and put it on; IT WON"T MELT.
What did Kraft do to it. I'm going to cheddar on my scrambled eggs and I don't know what I'll put in the sauce for Pittsburg potatoes but it won't be velveeta. Hope they look at this site some time for they only have a 20 or so word little box on their web site to send a complaint. Why did they change it?
I have grown up on Velveeta cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, on scrambled eggs, in casseroles, slices for snacking, even fed it to the cat!
The consistency has changed, period. You can no longer pull the slice from the wrapper, it is THIN AND STICKY! What has happened to the
Velveeta cheese of our childhood, it is GONE! Sad to say I must find another brand.
It's not just Veveeta but also the American Slices Deluxe. Tasteless, wrong texture. After all these years, no more cheese dip. It's gross. The Velveeta Shells & Cheese in now inedible as well. I threw it away. Kraft has lost their mind.
My mom and I have been using Velveeta for 40+ years, but over the last 3 yo 4 years the flavor and texture has changed. It's almost like this weired flavorless glob of stuff. It also doesn't melt down the way it used to. It used to melt down into a rich, smooth, creamy sauce, but now it won't melt all the way and it is just a goopy unpleasant mess. I now buy a good quality American cheese from the deli counter; it's a little more expensive, but worth the extra money for a good quality product!
Benn using Velveeta over 30 years in different recipes now will not use it again it ruined a perfect casserole dish. I have noticed a change in it the last 3 boxes I have bought strange taste and not melting. I love Mac and cheese but will have to find a different cheese to use for Velveeta is horrible to use any more. So disappointed they have changed the way they make it.
My wife and I had used Velveeta for probably 40 years and suddenly it changed. Even our cats that used to like it suddenly "turned their noses up at it”. We don’t know what they did to it nor do we know why, all we know is that we’ll never us it again. It is horrible! It sucks! We have changed to another brand that tasted and melts the way Velveeta used to do and we’re staying with the other brand and not going back!
what the other brand i had problem not now properly and is clumpy I've never had pounds like this before.
I am very very very irritated! I hate to admit but I have a cheese obsession and buy my Kraft singles in bulk so I just recently bought a package at a local grocery instead of Costco and when I opened it I immediately noticed it was thicker so I went and looked to see if by chance they made a thicker than normal cheese but continued to eat my slice plain it tasted yucky so I investigated further and could not find any reason until I decided to find answers on the web and discovered this site. I gotta say Kraft you made a big mistake your singles are no longer going to be my guilty pleasure. I used to midnight snack on 4 slices and now I will be searching for a different brand or switching to cheddar. I am going to miss my singles!
I recently made enchiladas and spent the extra money to get Velveeta instead of the cheaper store brand. The Velveeta would not melt. I even left the dish in the oven longer than usual and still the Velveeta wouldn't melt. I don't know what they've done to their product, but it is not the same. I won't be buying it again.
I have not used velveeta for quite some time because of the cost. I recently bought a box and I will never buy it again. It melted just like the store brand and the taste was the same as the store brand. VERY disappointed!
I noticed this quite a while ago & thought it was my tastebuds changing because I have depended on Velveeta for many recipes for over 40 yrs. I could eat it by itself, but now it is nasty. When I discussed w/ numerous friends & relatives & restaurant employees, they all confirmed that . Most said they quit using it a long time ago. I, too will find a better substitute.
Just purchased a box and as always use it in brocolli/cheese casserole. This time it did not melt and stayed on the top like a sheet. Never had this problem before, so something must have changed.!
They've changed it somehow; probably to save money. It has an odd smell now, and it's a different color. I tried melting some last night with Ro-Tel, and I never could get it to melt completely. After 30 minutes I just gave up and threw the entire batch in the garbage.
Kraft is now manufacturing FRANKEN CHEESE! PURE GARBAGE THAT WILL NOT MELT! NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM WITCH-KRAFT! OR HEINZ OR CADBURY (WHICH THEY NOW OWN) YUCK
What has happened. I don’t buy Velveeta often, but I had a flash back and bought a package yesterday. I grew up loving it.
The new product is horrible. It tastes grainy and too sweet. What are the changes? How can Kraft be so stupid as to change a classic.
As only one person, I thought I would have no voice or impact on the change in Velveeta. I see there are many others as well as my circle of friends, coworkers, & family who all feel the same way. We are all using other products to flavor our dishes now. There is probably nothing that can be said to get tasty Velveeta back that we all have used in my lifetime, but like many other products, the changes are to probably to make more money for corporations than to please customers.
My mom made Mac and cheese with Velveeta. As kids that’s the only way we liked it. The consistency of the Velveeta cheese has totally changed. And everyone’s right it won’t melt. It won’t even adhere to the macaroni to make it creamy.
KRAFT WHAT DID YOU DO?
The Velveeta cheese slices don't melt either. It has a grainy texture and taste horrible. Tried to make grilled cheese and it looked like wax, didn't melt hardly at all. Won't be buying it anymore.
It's 2019 and this cheese STILL won't melt? It's plastic. This is why I always say, all of these political actors are on the same team! Look at what's going on with the food. They send our chicken to China, then ship it back...why? Because they're pumping ut with poison... then look at how China, etc. makes food out of plastic...now we're eating foods MADE OUT OF PLASTIC! They all have the same AGENDA...#Depopulation #DamnVipers #DamnDecepticons
I grew up on Velveeta grilled cheese sandwiches. I have not had any in over a decade, so I bought a brick and made grilled cheese sandwiches as always. The first thing I noticed is that the cheese is much softer and more gelatinous in the rubbery aftertaste. The old Velveeta is dead and gone. The new version is inedible. Nothing lasts forever, and time marches on, sadly.
