03/10/20 - a senior citizen went to ktm station located in alor setar kedah to buy tickets. She asked for senior citizen's 50% discount of the ticket pricing. However, the ktm staff behind the counter told her that there is a new system in place where senior citizens need to register online in order to get their 50% discount. The poor old lady didn't understand what they were saying and asked if they could help her thinking they, the younger generation would better understand the "online system". All they did was print out a receipt with qr code and some step by step guide to register online. The senior citizen didn't even have a proper phone. This "new ticketing system" that requires online registration, loging into email and uploading of ic photos may be practical for the tech savvy people but not the older generations. This system doesn't make any sense asking a senior citizen to go through all the hassle just to get their 50% discount. What if they are staying alone where do the management expect them to get help! The management really needs to reconsider this "new ticketing system" especially in regards to the services related to senior citizen's..
Before the computer and smartphone era, one just had to show identity card to prove his entitlement for rebate to ticketing officer and got instant approval .
Don’t have to create difficulties just for the sake of sophistication!
Is not sophistication is called using technology to be lazy and instead of helping the needed, they help themselves collect free gaji for not doing anything at work. Try another way asking them to submit how many senior citizens they helped with good review before they get their gaji and see what happen?
This is the most stupidest thing ever. They really expect senior citizens to deal with this fuss? I'm not even a senior citizen and I'm full of rage from KTMB's stupid website. It is so inconvenient and the fact that they are making such an inconvenience for senior citizen's only tells me that KTMB isn't genuine with their intentions to give discounts for senior citizens. What they really intend is for senior citizens or their family members to get fed up and buy tickets at full price.
I mean, once you key in the IC number, it should be able to detect how old you are by the year. Don't be such [censored] KTMB.
I am 74 yrs old, a government pensioner, few days ago I booked tickets back from K.L sentral to Alor Star online, reglects n disappointed I was not able to get any discount for the ticket n was told need to apply 3 to 5 days before to get approval, is this the way KTM treat the senior citizens, before we need only to show the I.C n is practiced all over the world is KTM going for better or worst services ?
I am 74 yrs old a government pensioner, recently I bought 2 ETS tickets from KL sentral to Alor Star, reglect n disappointed I was not given any discount like before n was charged Rm 198 for 2 tickets !
KTM is it a new policy or u want to discourage usage or to make more profits after losses during Mcos ?
Very true; people who are responsible for and approve this system typically never think carefully.
Retirees and students need to apply for a concession ticket, but like my parent ticket, which is usually handled by me, there is no easy way to link them to my KTMB app account, so they will need to register and process all these themselves. What's the logic?
Yup, very very bad! Just attracting people to buy tickets but either not sincere where this is just a gimmick or so incompetent in judgement on the process.
You have to first be the senior citizen not the family member etc. and register an online account, then upload IC to verify you are Malaysian, then separately find a section in the site to apply for senior citizen concession ticket rights which needs approval - based on what I see on FB, it takes three days to get approval. Hello?! Who buys ticket nowadays using like 3-4 days process? And not intuitive, means only found about through relatives who went to the station to buy theirs, to know you have to register the senior an online account, and children cannot use their account to buy for themselves and the señior... And had to go through the whole check out process to realise that we need to go back to profile to find the section to apply for concession ticket status, wait 3 days for approval then come back to buy it. OMG.
Person who thought of this process, obviously missing a few screws, and the persons who approved it are either making fun of people of left their faculties at home
Missing more than a few screws. Probably designed by some young kid who hasnt the foggiest idea of how to design a site with the end user in mind. Shame on on you KTMB.
I am 72. Barely able to operate my handphone with ease. Digitally minimally literate. The KTMB website is not only unclear but uses language I don't understand. How on earth does KTMB believe they are helping senior citizens to obtain a 50% discount. I sincerely believe that KTMB is insincere about giving discounts to senior citizens and are hoping really really hard that seniors don't get their discounts.
Unless there an over the counter service to help, KTMB's so-called senior citizen pricing is a complete scam.
