We went to La-Z-Boy and custom ordered a 100% leather loveseat with a console in the middle.
After only 3 years of minimal use...is has started peeling all on the seat and backs. We also paid $179 for an extended warranty only to find out it is useless.
We choose to buy from La-Z-Boy because we thought they were a name we could trust and products we could depend on. BOY WERE WE WRONG!
We have made numerous calls to La-Z-Boy, visited the store (of course the manager is no longer there_ and have made numerous attempts to call the company.
Bottom line...DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM LA-ZYBOY! Sad to say...but YES...WE WERE SCAMMED!
Peeling Leather after 2 years ! We choose to buy from La-Z-Boy because we thought they were a name we could trust and products we could depend on. BOY WERE WE WRONG! We were told this is a common thing. Oils from the head and hair cause this. This is happening between my shoulder blades! If I was a gorilla this might be the case. But after only 2 years of minimal use?
We have made numerous calls to La-Z-Boy, and have made numerous attempts to call the company. I was told we could purchase a new back for he chair - $469. Wow - that's a deal?
Bottom line...DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM LA-Z-BOY! Sad to say...but YES...WE WERE SCAMMED!
Rick YYY I am reaching out to you on this same issue and put together a Class Action Lawsuit here is my email , richard.stracener@yahoo.com - Let's talk !
i had the same problem ,and was treated poorly on the phone
We have experienced the same thing. We bought form Lazy Boy, because they were known for recliners and quality. We were told in the store we were buying a leather recliner. We paid $1150. Two years later the leather is flaking off! Our local store is closed. I called the next store within our area, and were told it is out of warranty. We were scammed and lied to. DO NOT BUY LAZY BOY PRODUCTS! The sales people are CLUELESS! Very angry and will spread the word.
Same story here. The sales guy actually told me that it was top grain aniline leather on a sofa marked at $4800 MSRP. Now that is partly on me for being so naive. First, a top grain leather sofa costs a whole lot more than $4800. Second, just a little research would have told me that La-Z-Boy only sells "recycled" (e.g. bonded) leather. I paid $1600 for the sofa on sale (another red flag) and after 3 years it started peeling. The company clearly has no interest in customer care beyond the first week of delivery. You know what they say, "If it seems to good to be true..."
Purchased Lazy Boy Sofa and recliner in 2017 and the ten year leather warranty. Apparently nothing past a year is honored and they cannot even find my sales record in the “corporate system” even though I have the full invoice. I have taken excellent care of this sofa and was told it was real leather. I too was naïve I guess a real leather sofa would be way more but I didn’t know and I believed the salesperson and that it truly was just on sale. Even my cheap Ashley furniture I had before this never peeled. I never could talk to a live person at the Lazy Boy service center either they communicated only in text and said I was outside the coverage period (a year they say) and I need to call the store I purchased from. Well so when I made the purchase in 2017 apparently the store was not under corporate ownership (odd?) but is now. I called the store explained hey my sofa is peeling after 5 years but my leather recliner isn’t….thinking I got a lemon and wanting some help in how to use my ten year leather warranty I purchased. A salesperson said she would take my name and have the manager call me back. Thing is I had planned to buy new furniture in about a year but wanted to keep this because it sits very comfortable. But now it is flaking “leather” and looks awful it needs recovered. Definitely not purchasing any overpriced furniture from lazy boy again. I thought I would be safe because of their reputation of quality. Even my ten year old uncomfortable Ashley leather furniture never peeled. That’s saying something.
Not sure if my photos went in but here is proof
I have the same issue on my high end La Z Boy loveseat recliner (power), I paid over $4,000 (on Sale) and one panel has started pealing, I spoke with the first service representative and I was given a case number over a year ago. I’ve been dealing with him, finally he doesn’t contact me anymore. I called the main office gave them my case number and they said that material is no longer available and with they would not honor the warranty. Finally I got a supervisor they told me that they would deal with it and give me a credit and a discount from the store. Of course you know, that never came to be. This is my third La-Z-Boy recliner, and my last. I thought I was getting a superior product and paying the premium price to get it. Can’t believe how wrong I was.

We purchased a leather recliner and in less than 2 years the leather started peeling. The furniture store told us to try to cover it with shoe polish! We have had many recliners from la-z-boy and have been a strong believer in their quality. In the past leather furniture bought from them has worn for years. This is so disappointing.
I bought a top of the line Maverick Recliner three years ago. Lumbar support has never been as comfortable as store model. Now leather is cracking and is showing the wear of a thirty year old leather chair with normal adult use after three years and looks terrible. Store will do nothing to address issue. I still have a 20 year old leather Lazy Boy recliner in another room that is in far better shape with harder use over the years. New Lazy Boy furniture quality is very poor. Buy cheaper brands since their brand no longer represents quality.
I too am having issues with La Z Boy Products material peeling and would like to join forces to file a Class Action Lawsuit Nation Wide , It does seem that many of the comments are exactly the same , we got taken and to this day nothing is resolved ! I worked years ago at the Better Business Bureau and worked closely with the State Attorney Generals Offices for Consumer Protection .

Has anyone had any luck with the 5-year additional Leather Protection Warranty? My recliner is peeling, cracking, etc. It looks horrible!
Would like to join a class action lawsuit against Lazy Boy. I bought a recliner from Jones Furniture Newport Ar paid 1000.00 ot was on sale. After 12months it's peeling. They won't do anything about this recliner. Thank you Karla Hopkins
I have an office chair that is peeling all over the arms and back...$200 down the drain...and I didn't make it too far in life...I've never had a job that paid more than minimum wage so its a lot harder for me to get $200 than most people...
how do I get in on the class action lawsuit...
Please call...

I think they owe me a new chair that isn't a piece of crap...
My Lazy Boy leather office chair is peeling after 4 years. The leather on arms is paper thin. I cant believe the leather is not full grain. After reading about the sorry customer response, I won't bother, BUT I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE OF THEIR PRODUCTS. Larry H wv5b@aol.com
I purchased a custom Dark brown couch during the pandemic took 8 months to receive and the 2 years later a bubble appeared? it finally popped and come to find out they painted dark color over an existing lighter brown couch, now they say it is out of warranty and will not fix it even though I say you never delivered what I ordered leather couches are dyed not painted there is no way it should peel, fade maybe! and under is the lighter color that is perfect, they scammed me and should replace the entire couch.
Lazy boy leather sofas seem to be poor quality. Ours started peeling after one year. Rang the shop more than once but never helpful. We have now had the sofas for three years and more peeling. Would not recommend Lazy Boy.
Bought chair.
Normal use.
It felt a little crooked, but generally liked the chair.
5 years later... I feel like Thanos snapped his fingers and my chair is disappearing from existence.
I say 5 years later, though this started happening a few years ago and has gradually gotten worse.
In the market for a new chair now as the 'leather' material is very noticeably sticking to my clothes.
La Z Boy will not be on the places to shop for replacement.
I purchased a beautiful dark brown leather recliner from the showroom floor. I saved for years to be able to afford a nice leather couch and love seat. The sad thing is that they are in a part of my house for guests only so it is seldom used. I wanted to offer nice furniture and comfort for my loved ones when they visit which is why I purchased Lazy Boy. I thought I was getting the best and sacrificed so much for my two sofas. They are peeling in between the seats which is very strange. I'm devastated that after just three years I have to buy new ones and they were probably sat on a hand full of times. I paid $4,000.00 . Totally devastated. I take such good care of my things and so does my family, I feel totally ripped off.
I could have saved lots of money and bought something at another store but I believed that the Lazy Boy products were the best and worth my long term investment. I feel I deserved that. Totally devastated.
