Broke center cap
I went to Mavis tires on Schillinger‘s Road in Mobile Alabama to have my tire patched when I was there I was standing at the door where they take your wheels off and put them on the machine to take the tire part from the rim and the man that was there threw my wheel up on the machine and broke my center cap. so I went to the manager of the store and he told me my center cap was dry rotted which I knew better than that because I have all of the center caps and none of them are dry rotted even the one that came off when that boy threw the wheel up on the machine and the center cap popped off he did not take it out properly I still have the center cap. So with that being said the manager of the store said he would not replace the center cap so I left very unhappy with this store I bought the tires from Mavis on Highway 90 in Theodore and they have never done anything like this to my wheels so I don’t understand why the guy on Schillinger road treated me like I didn’t spend any money I paid good money for those tires. And on top of all that I started looking for a center cap and it is hard to find one that fit those wheels or another words match the other three rims and the cost is over $100 for a center cap that I feel like the Mavis store on Schillinger Road should have been responsible for. Please respond at your earliest convenience thank you.
Customer Service
Had the brakes done on my daughters Honda CRV at Mavis on Winchester Road in Huntsville Alabama. They replaced the front rotors and pads. Shortly after installation her car started vibrating really bad every time she put on the brakes. We took the car back to Mavis on Winchester Road in Huntsville Alabama before the one-year warranty on the labor was up. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. My daughter had to go back to school the next day, so we didn't have time to bring it in again. The car continued to vibrate every time she used the brakes. We later took the car back in and they said that the rotors were bad but they were under warranty. However, they said the installation warranty was up and we would have to pay $50 for each rotor to replace them. I argued that we had brought the car in before the installation warranty was up, and they did not fix the problem and that we should not have to pay for labor. I can't figure out if they are just stupid or dishonest. Finally after arguing with the store manger over and over again when we picked the car up, he said "Ok just take it" in a really nasty tone. I have been pretty pleased with the service at Mavis in the past, but they are under new management and these guys don't know how to treat a customer. I will never take any of my vehicles there again.
The service I received was TERRIBLE
The service I received at Mavis was terrible and I have had to have two repairs since the original break job was “completed”. Now they are not reimbursing me the full amount the new break job cost. I was told by the manager of the store I had the work done at, that when the first issue occurred with this break job, that I could bring it to any mechanic that I wanted to have it fixed. He even stated that he wouldn’t want to bring it back to the shop that messed it up the first time. When I brought my car in to be looked at last week, as my local mechanic, I did not know what the problem was. After finding out that the breaks needed to be replaced, that is when I reached back out to Mavis for a second time. They have been very rude about assisting with this problem, when I just want to be compensated for the full repairs, but they will not pay the $500 difference. Not only was customer service rude and unhelpful, so was the regional manager.
Desired outcome: NOT RESOLVED TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
Tire rotation
Brought in my 2018 GMC 2500 HD on 8/7/22
For a tire rotation. Asked me if I had been there before I said yes bought this truck has not. I asked if that was a problem he so no. Tech brought in truck stated working on it , stopped and proceeded to work on something else. After over an hour I asked what was going on and said they had a problem and are waiting for new stud bolts. I said why , and he said his tech could not get them off with the air gun and attempted to brake them free with a breaker bar. At that point he said his employee broke off a lug not and had damaged another in attempt to get them off. Offering me a free oil change for my troubles. I declined the oil change and said just fix the problem you have made.
Another hr went by and said all they can do is half me come back in the morning of 8/8/22 and the manager will set everything right.
When I went there on 8/8/22 the manager said they are not liable for any damage because it was the first time the truck was there. Then proceeded to blame the dealership where my service is normally done for over torquing the lug nuts. The dealership seems to have no problem getting them off and your staff at Mavis in Herkimer NY seems to have a problem with it.
Now I have to pay the dealership to remove the broken stud and replace stud bolts as well because of the damage you employee caused.
Desired outcome: I will send the bill directly to your office and to the Herkimer shop where the damage was done I would hope that you pay for work as you herkimer location caused the problem
Unauthorized and Incorrect Repairs
On July 5th, 2022, I Brought my Chevy Trailblazer to Mavis Tire on West Bay Ave in Barnegat, NJ. My Complaint was what sounded like a train running as I drove. The Manager DYLAN informed me that I needed Front Brakes with Rotors and Pads, Upper and Lower Control Arm assemblies and a complete wheel alignment. This procedure took them over 6 hours. It was preformed while I waited. I was charged $1,186.00 for this work. I paid for it with my Mavis Credit Card. When I was driving out of their parking lot, The sound I had originally heard was still happening but now even worse. When I went back into their store, The manager Dylan took my car out and when he returned he said he did not hear anything. The mechanic then took the car out and came back saying he had heard it. I am now being told to bring the car back and they will fix it. I am completely disturbed about the fct that thye preformed all this other work (Without me totally agreeing to it) and expect me to pay them for something I did not need.
On July 8th, I took my car to another Mechanic I use and was told that the work that was performed was not the issue and also that the work had caused additional damage to my Vehicles Front End. They also informed me that they had already replaced my Brakes 10,000 miles Prior to my current mileage. They repaired the problem but did inform me that now the Rack and Pinion on my vehicle was damaged and now needs to be replaced because of the incorrect work performed by MAVIS.
Desired outcome: I want MAVIS TIRE to Remove all Charges from My MAVIS TIRE CREDIT CARD and pay for the now required additional work because of their unauthorized repairs to my vehicle.
Leaking power steering system
My complaint goes to Mavis tire center in Forked River, NJ.
Two months ago I had Mavis replace my power steering pump. On 13 July 2022 I noticed power steering fluid leaking under my 2004 Chevy Tahoe. On 18 July 2022, I heard a whining noise from the power steering pump. I checked the fluid level and the reservoir was less than half full. I refilled the pump back to its normal fluid level. Two days later I had the same whining from the pump and checked fluid level again and it was almost halfway below normal levels. I also was experiencing 'chattering' in the motion of my steering wheel when I turned it, which I know to indicate air in the lines. Now I knew there was a leak somewhere in the power steering system. Since Mavis did the maintenance on my pump only 2 months ago, it made logical sense to take it back to them to look for a loose line or leaking pump. I dropped off the truck on 28 July. The front desk person didn't call me until three hours into the second day. When they called they asked me why the truck was there? the front desk people never even wrote down my request. The late afternoon of 29 July they told me I had a small leak on my transmission cooler. No power steering leak! I asked them where is the power steering fluid disappearing to. They shrugged their shoulders. I picked up my truck in total disappointment and a loss for words over the incompetency of the front 2 desk persons, the 22 yr old manager, and the mechanic. On 30 July, I checked the power steering fluid level after using the truck around town after picking up from Forked River Mavis shop. The fluid level was down to half again, and after being told by the front counter person and the manager that the pump was full. I have great concern that people may be getting work done on their cars and the maintenance being so unprofessional that safety might be a concern. I am a retired aircraft mechanic and know hydraulic systems. I have only seen this level of mechanical misconduct from lawn mower repairman.
My sense of care for the safety of others and the lack of any professionalism in your team at Forked River Mavis tells me I need to report this to the better business bureau to put more eyes on this.
I want to lastly state a positive note that I had taken my vehicles to the Mavis in Whitting NJ. They were much more professional and their maintenence was more reliable and I had confidence in their work practices.
Desired outcome: Simply put, I want my power steering leakage and 'chattering' problem resolved. None of these leakage or air in the system problems existed in my Tahoe until the replacement of my power steering pump by Mavis Tire in Forked River,NJ.
bought 4 new tires...tried to upsell me for rear brakes and pads etc....
- Purchased four (4)new tires (Cooper Solarus AS) for my older Buick LaCrosse.
- Store location - #1 Bethel Rd..Somers Point, NJ 08244...I believe store number is ST:0196.
- Invoice dated 7/09/2022...#[protected] - Operator #1962
- While the mechanic was putting on my new tires (I thought), the manager came to me and told me that my brakes were down to the rotors and should be replaced that day...since my son-in-law was paying for my tires I decided to call him first and relay the managers message..I did not, at that time, give permission to do the brake job!...My son-in-law said not to have it done. When I told the manager (about 20 min later), he seemed surprised and said that they had already done the brakes! I refused to pay for it and called my son-in law again...he advised them to put the old brakes back on or else...
- At this time, they complied, replaced my old brakes (?) and finished with my tires. I left feeling unhappy, angry and exhausted.
- My son-in-law advised me to take my car immediately to my trusted mechanic and have the brakes checked...I did...My mechanic assured me that my brakes were fine!
Mavis uses poor business tactics and lying to upsell their products and service.
_ Within a week of this incident I began to feel vibrations in my front seat and floorboard when driving above 45 mph on the parkway...Again, I returned to my mechanic only to find that 3 of my 4 new tires were out of balance! After being charged $79.96 for "computer balance package"!
- I have all receipts, invoices and a typed note from the Mavis manager relating the problem with the brake issue, stating that they made an error and miscommunicated about the brakes. I also had my mechanic make a note that the tires were not balanced correctly.
I can take a pic of these invoices and email them if needed, or mail them...
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response from Mavis and a refund of $79.96for the "computer balance package" that was done incorrectly causing me a safety issue and cost for my mechanic of $38.00 to rebalance my tires. Total $118.40
Unauthorized work done
Took my car into Mavis tires and brakes in Midland Georgia well they perform work on my car that my car didn't need took it in for an oil change ended up getting a brake job changing my rotors out rotating my tires which you can't rotate my tires because my tires are different sizes on the not and back I have low profile tires change my battery out which I did not need I did need a brake job just had my brakes done like 6 months ago well when they rotated my tires they left one big tire on the front and one little tire on the front so therefore it damaged my fender they put aftermarket rotors on my car which
you can see straight threw my rim"s
you see nothing but rust now. talked with Mr Fisher who was going to do an investigation into it well he did his investigation found out that they was in the wrongs and he was going to pay for my car to be fixed and therefore he was going to get me a check wrote out well I never received the check after he said he was sending it out he lied he never sent a check Mr Fisher is very unprofessional at his job so therefor now he leaves me no choice but to take them to court and get Justice for the damages they perform on my car
Desired outcome: My car fix
Vehicle repair safety issue
I had my vehicle serviced at the Hicksville Mavis Discount Tire @ Broadway Mall on 4/30/2022 and as a direct result of their negligent work, me along with my whole family almost got into deadly accident. I had my disc brakes rotors, disc brake pads replaced, and wheel alignment fixed at this location and paid approximately $2200. On our way to a camping trip on 6/30/2022 while driving on the I-87, I lost control of the vehicle steering. I was driving at only 60 miles per hour, but I completely lost control of my vehicle while in the middle lane. Luckily there were no trucks behind me, and the other vehicles were driving very cautiously, so they stopped and/or slowed immediately when they noticed that I had car trouble. Eventually, I somehow managed to slowly drive to the side of the highway which was difficult as the car steering wheel was not working properly. Once there, we called for towing services and they took my vehicle to the nearest car repair store which coincidentally was Saratoga Spring, NY Mavis discount tire.
Not long after checking my vehicle and looking at my Mavis record, the tech/manager told me that the mechanic @ the Hicksville Mavis screwed up. The mechanic had left all the lug nuts on the left rear wheel loose and as a result, one stud had broken. After the vehicle was serviced, my kids were very reluctant to get back into that vehicle because they were traumatized by what had happened earlier.
I called customer service and spoke to regional manager, Samantha T. She basically said that all they can do is investigate the mechanic. I paid two grand for a service that was supposed to make driving safer for me but resulted in almost getting me killed. When I called corporate to file a complaint, I was told that they will give me 2 free oil services for my ordeal. What a joke! I am not going back to them again after what happened!
No one in their corporate ladder seems like Customer Safely is a priority to MAVIS DISCOUNT TIRE.
I have attached the note in the bill that was written by the mechanic from Saratoga Springs.
Desired outcome: I want my money back. Infact, the manager from Sarotoga Spring, NY Mavis discount tire store advised me to call corporate and ask for monetary compensation.
Seeking one rim m53 22inch
I bought 2017 mustang in for a tire I bought to be put on in Madison Ms on my front driver side on a brand new rim it took 3 hour's to put the tire on I showed the manager the damage on site he took pictures of the damaged rim and wrote a complaint up on the incident I also took pictures of the complaint and video of him checking the damaged rim and said he would have to send it off to corporate on 7/12/2022 it was filed as documentation
Desired outcome: I would like to replace my rim or pay me for a new one
Charges for work not performed. Misdiagnosis
On October 13, 2021, Mavis located in west Berlin on Rt 73 North performed work on my 2006 Nissan Sentra S. It was supposed to resolve vibration and noise issues. Immediately after I picked up the car there was additional noise, I returned after driving about a mile. But it was not solved to my satisfaction. I was unable to return to shop for few months. But I crawled under the car few months later and found the driver side Sway bar link was all rusted and one of the nuts on the vertical bar was missing. I took the car back to the shop. They replaced it at no cost.
This did not resolve the noise issue. So, i again crawled under the car and notice a clam on the inner tie rod boot on the driver side was missing. I took the car again to the shop. They installed the clamp at no cost. As far as the noise they said it is the Drivers side CV axle and gave me estimate of $452.08 before taxes. I got the axle replaced by other mechanic at 60 % of this amount. It did not resolve the noise issue. The mechanic told me the noise is from inner tie rods. I told him it was replaced by Mavis in October. He said the inner tie rods on both sides are original. They have never been replaced.
Desired outcome: 1. Replace inner tie rods or refund ($72+150 plus tax =) $237.542. Pay me $290 for misdiagnosing the noise issue3. Resolve the noise issue to my satisfaction at no cost to me
Oil plug?
On March 14th, I had an oil change and got new brakes at Scarsdale Mavis... total came to: $1123.78 which I paid
Mistakenly believing I was due for an oil change I brought it to my local
garage in Upstate New York where we have a house.
They were unable to remove the plug to drain the old oil... I waited 45 minutes and the service order was cancelled.. check paperwork at home, I saw it was only done in March, but,. the service manager said Mavis has a habit of putting on plugs that only they can remove, forcing the customer to return there?
Is this true? I found it to be preposterous, so prior to filing a complaint with thee Better Business Bureau, of the Westchester Consumer Protection agency, I am reaching out to you for comment!
Desired outcome: Plug replaced with MORE UNIVERSAL MODEL?
Regular oil change
I've been bringing my van to Mavis and only Mavis for oil changes. Today they told me my oil plug was stripped. A 5 dollar plug. They said that now the whole oil pan needed to be replaced. How? The only way the oil plug can be bad is from over torquing the nut. Which is caused by Mavis and inexperienced or 2nd rate mechanics. They proceeded to tell me my oil pan needed to be replaced as well. So my 100 dollar oil change because my car uses synthetic oil was then to be 613$ for their incompetence.
Ran out of there as fast as possible and not going back, YIKES.
Mavis on Paterson Ave East Rutherford NJ
Desired outcome: No outcome -they refused to replace my parts they destroyed at a cost to MAVIS!
Auto service
Do not trust what they say about what your car needs! I went there for a tire. I got, what I verified was a good deal. After telling them that because of that deal I would come back for the other tire, they felt that I trusted them and they could tell me whatever they wanted. They told me that my suspension, struts, and shocks were shot and gave me an...

I called the local Ossining NY store on June 14th at around 2PM.
I spoke with Dan who set up an appointment for me to come in on June 15th at 1PM. I asked him how long would it take so I could make arrangements to drop off my car if necessary as 1pm is my lunch hour to which he reply this was just a safety inspection (brand new 2022 BMW) and it will only take 10 to 15 min.
I showed up to my appointment at 1PM and I was told by Dany I had to wait about 30 to 40 min for my car to go in and then 10 to 15 min for the inspection to be completed.
I explained to him I had made an appointment for that reason so I didn't have to wait but he insisted that there was Noone available.
I asked to speak to a manager but Dany stated the manager was not available and to wait 10 min for him. I had to leave to try to get my inspection done somewhere else so I asked for his manager's info but he kept talking and telling me I had to wait for him. I walked away as I was trying to get it done the same day and he followed me to my vehicle. I asked him to step away from my car and left.
At 1:55pm I received a call from a male who introduced himself as the manager and wanted to know what I was there for I advise him I was in the process of following this complaint and I had already done my inspection at a different place.
Messed up my car
I went in for a quote they took my tires off broke my hubs didn't put my lug nuts back on so my tire fell off put one tire back on with the hub broken and on top of the tire gauge!tries to charge me for a estimate!so now my hubs are broken tire is flat rim is bent and roter is cut
This is both a complaint and a tremendous thank you to two of your stores.
My name is Tracy 'Tegan' Huebner and I recently went to store 0801 located at 1798 North Hercules in Clearwater, Fl, 33765. I spoke with Dwayne who was very friendly and professional about getting two new tires. I purchased them on 4/3/22 and at that time I also inquired about getting my 130,000 mile maintenance done on the car and requested my plugs be changed, radiator flushed, oil change, rotate and balance my tires and the brake pads be replaced. Mark indicated to me that my cv joints needed replacing as well. After the work was performed the mechanic and manager Mark indicated to me that my cv joints would need replacing. I said ok and on 4/23/22 they did all the work for my 130,000 along with replacing the cv joints. When I got my car back I noticed that when turning the steering wheel it was making a very odd noise. When I went back to the garage another mechanic took a look and told me now that struts needed replacing. I was not happy as they were fine when I took it in as this was a completely new noise. They were adamant that now the struts needed replacing. I agreed to have them fixed and another assistant manager did the job, it was not Mark.
This time when I got the car back it was making yet another loud knocking sound when I went over poorly roads so loud I was very nervous driving the vehicle. Be patient I am getting to the good part where someone actually took the time to help me. The struts were done on 5/7/22.
This time I returned now the 4th time and indicated there was a tremedous knocking sound and first Dwayne and then Mark went on a test drive with me.
Mark indicated almost immediately that my left strut was bad and needed replacing as he was unaware the week before I had just had them done.
When we returned to the garage and I told him that you all had just done both struts he said well let me tighted up the nuts on the top of the struts and that should fix the problem. After watching him try to tighten them I noticed that they all were good. He told me to drive the car for a while and see if this fixed the problem and of course it did not. I went back a fifth time and they told me there was something that needed to be tightened down and the problem was fixed. The car was not fixed and I went back again. I insisted that I have had my car for seven years and it never made this noise before. They did not seem to care and told me that the car is just getting older and will make different sounds when things are fixed.
Later I was sharing this with my neighbor John Braun who has been dealing with store 814 on Missouri in Clearwater and set me up an appointment to go see the very professional Manager Timur. This guy told me to not write you all and that he would make it right. After a day he called me and asked me to come and take a test drive. The problem was still there so he told me they would take off the stutt stabalizing end links to see if the noise continued and it did. So Logan at the shop went over the struts and found that a strut mount bolt was very loose and tightning it FIXED THE PROBLEM.
I am thrilled and very thankful that both Timur and Logan took the time away from doing work on paying customers to help me finally get my car fixed properly and thought you should know that at this particular store #814 your guys go out of their way to make sure things are done right. I will continue to go to this store for all of my mechanical needs. Some of your guys really care about the company and I wanted to make sure you know!
Desired outcome: I would like for both the manager Timur and Logan from store 814 be recognized for the hard work and patience they showed me and for caring so much about the Mavis Tire reputation.
Windshield cracked
I recently went to store number 825 and An employee was changing my windshield blades and I asked them to check my fluid line. Once finding out I had tears in my line they proceeded to cut my line and replace it with a make shift hose and while they were doing that one of your employees was leaning on my hood I let him know that I had a stick to hold the...

I’m Ugochukwu John, Eze [protected]). I came over to do the alignment on my car on Saturday May 28th, 2022…. Because I replaced my axles and front struts on my 2003 Honda Odyssey exl. They did the alignment under 34 minutes but alignment takes about an hour and half to do on a car to avoid mistakes but they decided to do it for less because they were rushing to go home. I came back on Tuesday to get the adjustments done in order to avoid any damages because the left driver’s tie rods were too tight and heard some knocking sound every time I turn the steering (that sound never existed on the car) but was told to come back today at 9am but arrived at 8:30 am and gave up my keys at 8:42 am for them to adjust it. An hour afterwards, the technician came running but seems scared based off his reaction like he broke something while trying to adjust it and stated “your steering rack is licking on the driver side”…. I told him to try adjusting the tie rods that I need to head home to rest and he said okay. After he was done with the adjustment of the alignment, he went for a test drive for about 5 minutes and came back driving crazy trying to hide that the had damaged the rack completely but was shocked to see me waiting outside for my car. He drove the car back into the garage, jacked it up and I saw my power steering fluid leaking so bad after he did a test drive because before I gave them the car on Saturday, my steering rack was in perfect condition 4.5/5 now it’s a 1/5 just from doing alignments. Other customers came complaining that they did that to them 2 weeks ago and came back to them to fix with but was told to pay for it. I’m hereby requesting that my steering rack should be fixed and alignment done but I’m not paying for their damages….. I came with an excellent steering rack and leaving with a broken one….. not fair at all.
I’m getting 3 different alignment reports, looks like they don’t know the specifications for the alignment of the car….. this is terrible.
Desired outcome: $2000 or a new car
Lug nuts
My last set of tires were rotated approximately every 10K miles. When I finally went to replace them, I went Mavis on Winchester in Huntsville, AL. Austin was very pleasant and helpful. After getting the tires he suggested rotating them every 7K miles. I took my truck to the new Mavis in Meridianville. I had an appointment and I was curious as to why it was taking so long for an oil change and tire rotation. The technician there said that all of my lug-nuts were swollen and the socket had to be hammered on. I know that they didn’t swell from water and I have Never had any issues about my lug-nuts or tire rotation in the past. I didn’t watch the tire tech at Winchester put my tires on. But mathematically that is the only explanation for 24 swollen lug-nuts. I have purchased 24 new lug-nuts and will go to Meridianville Mavis. I don’t anticipate being reimbursed. But I would genuinely appreciate a response with some form of communication.
Thank you.
