expensive shocks/strut work done. weak warranty
I had shocks and struts done on my 2011 Cadillac Escalade paid about $2300 2 years ago . I have all my work done here and when I recently did my synthetic oil change and tire rotation, Juan the mechanic states that the back rear shock has a torn boot and should be replaced . I told him and the manager I had all 4 done and paid a small fortune. They looked shocked and pulled my account info up and saw that I was telling the truth . I was then told this should be covered just have to pay Labor and call back to check for parts status . When I called back I was then told the part Was not covered and is about $500 plus Labor . My buddy goes to Midas and shocks done there have a lifetime warranty . Very upset at the price I paid that nothing would be covered .
problem with my tires
I frequent mavis because the service is always so friendly and caring and prompt. However, I knew that something was wrong with my tire because my low pressure light kept coming on, and now matter how much air I put in it kept going flat. I went to mavis 4 different times telling them something was wrong, but they just told me I needed new sensors at 80 bucks a pop. I tried telling them again that it wasn't my sensors but something with either the tire or rim. After months and 4 different visits to mavis I finally went back today and told them I'm not leaving here without an answer. Turns out my wheel is corroded and causing a slow leak. If they would have listened to me in the first place and not just assume because I'm a woman I don't know what I'm talking about this could have been solved months ago. Every time I went into the store the girl at the front counter would rudely say oh your back again? Yes because there is something wrong with my car! I absolutely love going to mavis but this experience really left a bad taste in my mouth about them. When someone says there is something wrong with their car you should listen to them. You drive your car all the time we know what it feels like normally and what it feels like when something is wrong.
wheel alignment
On 08-28-17 my car was brought in to mavis located at 231 West 1st Street Mount Vernon NY 10550 for wheel alignment. Mavis did an inspection of the suspension and concluded the lower control arms needed changing but still did the alignment knowing that the alignment would be no good due to the control arms being no good. After alignment was completed they notified me the control arms needed changing ( after taking my money ). On 09-03-17 I brought the car back because the alignment was very bad even though the control arms needed to be changed the steering wheel was not even straight. I spoke with a manager who claimed his name was SADIQ but the business cards that are on the counter which usually has the managers full name on it were all generic with just the mavis logo and number. I notified him of the issue he advised me that they had a few cars and the alignment would be done again so it would be a wait which i agreed to. After being there from 12:45 to 4:00 I overheard the manager who stated his name was SADIQ tell his worker he had 1 more car to do( my car ) and the worker told him Im not doing it im tired and they commenced to have verbal dispute. So SADIQ had a mechanic come and tell me about the control arms again without even inspecting the car or attempting the alignment again. When he was confronted by me as to why the alignment wasn't done he stated it was pointless and he told me that. When questioned by him if i knew that would i have sat in mavis for 3 hrs and 15 mins he was very rude and even said a few choice curse words.
At this point I asked him what was his name and exited the store. Ive used mavis for many years but this is the final straw. This individual should not be in charge of running a store his level of professionalism is not that of a leader. Better Business Burea will be made aware of this incident.
tires, oil change, brake fluid flush
I visited the Fords, New Brunswick Avenue, Mavis on 8/17/17 to purchase four new tires and possibly an oil change. We had always had good and efficient service at this locations when it was STS. customer # [protected]
order # 023170
Timur and Tariq present themselves professionally and politely. However, that is the end of the positive feelings. The crew cannot back up their promises or carry out the work efficiently. They called me to come in at 5 PM on Friday instead of my Saturday appointment for faster service. Not so true. I was there for 3.5 hours!
They told me I need a brake fluid flush and the oil change. BUT they could not replace the oil filter because the previous service had put it on wrong. I doubt this as the last oil change was at the Kia service center. They also told another lady the same problem existed with her car. Odd, don't you think? They blamed the day on sending for tools to do the oil change.
At about 8:30, they wanted me to leave without doing the alignment. I refused and they finally did it.
Wehen I got home I realized the interior roof of my car was soiled with greasy handprints. It took phone calls and 2 visits for them to finally send me to a car wash for interior and exterior cleaning at their expense. When I got to the car wash, they insisted I pay and be reimbursed by Mavis. I had no faith that would happen. Timur said he had it set up. In the end the car was cleaned free of charge to me.
I regret this experience and will not return there even for the tire warranty service. In the end I paid $895.09 for aggravation and shoddy workmanship.
damage to driver's side door when inspected
I brought my 2014 Toyota Camry to Mavis Discount Tires on Ridge Rd. in Irondequoit NY on August 27th, 2017 to get inspected and my driver's side door was damaged on the inside. There are 3 scrapes on the interior of the door. It is slightly above the handle and would have been noticed immediately since I drive it on a daily basis. The punctures look as though it was scraped by a tool or the door was closed and jammed into something. I have enclosed a picture to understand what it looks. We live 10 minutes away and as soon as we returned home we called immediately. They rudely denied the damage and advised there was no way they could've done it. They continued to let us know they only pulled the car into the garage and put it on the lift, there is no way they could have damaged it at all. They also advised that we should take it up with legal services. The inspection failed due to the rotors and when they called to let us know they acted mad. The car was purchased 1 yr ago with no damage to the interior at all, no bumps or punctures. If the rest of the car was examined you would notice it is in mint condition, that's why it was purchased in the first place. I am expecting someone to pay to fix it, or replace the door panel at no charge. We will be consulting a lawyer if there is no resolution. I do not ever want to bring a vehicle to that location again and will be sure to let everyone know how horrible the customer service is if there is no resolution.
general
I brought my car in for inspection. They said it needed some work. It needed a control arm and had an oil leak, and a few other things So they did the control arm and I make an appointment for the following week to get the rest of the work done. My appointment was at 430. I get there 415-430 and check in. Then two hours later they come out and tell me they can't do the work and I will have to bring it back again. I am not happy about that. I bring it back again and it has taken almost 6 hrs to do the work so far. I am still here waiting for them to finish. I am never coming back to Mavis again. I only came back to get the work finished because I had already paid for everything at one time at the time of the inspection
tire replacement
I brought my car to the Syosset New York mavis to have my tire replaced. I told them the tire and the size. They put on the wrong brand and model tire as well as one that was too small. There isn't even any model of my car that takes that size tire. When I went back to complain they said to call corporate and refused to refund me and to go through corporate for a refund. I called corporate, and they claimed they don't sell Uniroyal tires. I will never go back to a Mavis or refer them to anyone.
tire pressure monitor
On 7/31/17 I got two front tires and a wheel alignment done. On the way home from Mavis I noticed a light on my dashboard.. I called Mavis, they told me to come back the next day. I returned and they checked my tire pressure, it was fine, so they told me to leave the car they will look at it when they get a chance. I could not leave it. Long story short, I brought my car to another Mavis, they dropped everything to look at my car and told me that I need a tire sensor on the passenger side, but I would have to go back to first mavis because they have to fix it. I went back to mavis, they looked at my car, now they are saying that they can fix it for $125. Ido not feel that I should pay for their mistake. I had no problem with the sensor before I got the tires and alignment done there

unethical behavior
I took my Kia Sorento in for tires and an alignment 5 weeks ago. Yesterday I called because i have metal showing on my front tires on inside. I took it to my mechanic who said that there is NO WAY that they did the alignment. I called Mavis yesterday to explain the situation and he tells me he is giving me the tires at cost... But charging me for alignment. Seriously? Stand behind the work that you claim to have done and NEVER did! I will never use them again and i know that i will tell everyone i know to never use them
fraudulent company, poor customer service, cheap materials corporate office does not respond
As you can see from the reviews below Mavis has a very poor track record. Had I thought to read before having my car serviced there, I would not be sharing a story here as well.
I took my car in because I was a little concerned with the wear on my tires how ever I did not express this I just stated I was going on a road trip and need my car inspected fully.
It was suggested that the shocks and struts be changed as well as the rotors and pads and rotation of the tires.
Since the work was preformed there is no difference in the brakes, leading me to believe as previous complaints, the work preformed was not necessary. The rotors that did install rusted in 3 days, however the work that was really necessary I was never told about. Fortunately an outside mechanic informed me 2 of my tires were shot. Mavis never mentioned this, luckily I was able to replace them before my road trip that could have turned out to be a dangerous situation.
I have since returned to Mavis 4 separate time to give them the opportunity to correct this situation to no avail. I have contacted corporate via email and phone call, no response. The Better Business Bureau is no involved and they have received no response.
Stay away from Mavis Tires they use cheap materials, have poor customer service and do unnecessary work to bleed your pockets dry.
tpa sensor amd tire rotation and repair
I brought my Toyota Rav in to do a tire rotation as part of the warranty after buying 4 tires from the same dealer on Rt 211 in Middletown NY. I was told it needed a TPA sensor replaced and a tire repaired for a slow leak. I had everything done and then had to return three times because i kept getting an indication that i had an air leak. In each case i had to wait well over an hour for them to find what was wrong, this is unaccpetable and I will NEVER return and let everyone know how bad the service is with Mavis and moreover at this location.

I would like to request a full refund as I have been a long standing customer of Mavis (10 years). I received almost $700 in work and my brakes are still not operating properly. Brakes still squeaking and not stopping properly, even after 500 plus miles after work so they can break in. The stopping was better prior to my visit. For the amount of money I paid I expected better from Mavis. If you pay for a service like brakes rotors etc, you would expect the initial problem to be fixed. I took off one day from work(lost pay), took off a second day to get fixed(lost pay), now I still have the issue and refuse to go back a third time to have fixed.
I am very disappointed as I have always spoke highly of Mavis and sent my family and friends to your shop. I will unfortunalty have to go to a different institution to have this resolved and now pay more money. Your company is really going to have to do the right thing for me, my family, and friends to come back and have work done.
Please advise on how we can resolve this issue.
Thank you,
tire sensor valves and spring
I had my 2005 jeep liberty in for a censor tire valve to be replaced on the passenger back tire yesterday 07/12/17, and they called me and said the front passenger censor valve needed replacing also. I told them I only had the money for one censor valve to be replaced that day but would have money the next day to replace the other valve. They did nothing to the front valve and let me leave with the tire like that which I had no idea was going flat because the day before I filled all tires with air and only knew that the back censor valve was broken no others. The could have at least put a rubber valve on till the next day but did not. The previous time I had the jeep in to this Mavis Tire they told me, and it is also in their computer, that I had a spring broken and I had to buy a pair because you cannot buy just one. They cost $180.00 plus tax for a pair. Yesterday I went to another Mavis Tire and they fixed the front censor valve for me and told me that I have NO SPRINGS broken. I have been going to this Mavis Tire for more than a decade having repairs done and now I don't even think I needed half of them. I want to be compensated for their negligence, I have my small children in this vehicle all the time. Something must be done to stop them from screwing people out of money we just don't have.
brakes and noise in my truck
I just picked up my vehicle from Mavis today. As I was coming home I pressed on my brake to stop and my peddle stopped all the way to the floor. Not including my caps on my tires were not placed back on. I had new calipers put on and I have a rubbing noise on drivers side front tire. I am very disappointed with this service. I paid so much money to get my car fixed to bring it home worse. Very dissatisfied customer. I need for someone to contact me to fix my car.
front end work
Took my Ford F-350 in to mavis tire cobleskill NY due to front end noise on passenger side and the steering was choppy. I was told I needed upper and lower ball joints on both sides and it would be done the next day. After 4 days I needed the original quote plus front calipers and pads. I was also told I needed a new hub as it came apart in pieces, I took the truck without the new hubs and wasn't a mile down the road when I had the same issue. It went back and got new hubs, it still isn't right and still has virtually the same issues. I spent around 1500 on repairs, I complained to the garage manager and also the district manager. The district manager told me if I doubted any of the work needed to be done I should have checked it when they took me out to the garage to show me...so I asked him I can grab tools and work on my truck while here? What a stupid thing to say to a customer. Ask yourself what garage is so scared it feels the need to audio and video tape the place, the trust of the employees must be real high. I find it funny that the cameras are recording yet the managers mustang is in the bay inside the garage more than out in a parking spot. I would be careful having your young girls go there with the family while getting repairs or the person paying the bill won't be the only one getting screwed. I don't know what's wrong with my truck but I was told to bring it back in so they can add more parts and labor to my ongoing screw job. I'm sure it still won't be right. I want to see the video tape of my truck getting repaired, if not I'll be taking them to court
brake job
6/21/2017
A pin on a rear brake jammed and started squeeking and pouring out brake dust. The pin also put a grove in my rotor. I took it to the Mavis on South Ave, in Westfield, NJ. I was told the rotor could not be cut because rotors are made very thin these days. So I said, in that case replace both rotors and the pads on both sides. Grease the calipers.
Then I began to notice a shudder from the front end. Most likely because of a warped rotor. So I took it back to Mavis and had them replace the front rotors and pads. However, the shudder from the front end was still there. So I took it again to Mavis. After waiting, the mechanic took me into the bay to see what was being done. I still don't know what was done because they had all 4 wheels off the car and I could see the build up of rust and dirt showing NONE of the rotors had been replaced.
They tell me they'll fix it. So they say the car is done and I take it home. A few days later I look through my alloy wheel at the rear rotors. They are new and shiny. So I look at the front rotors. They're the same old rusty rotors I started out with.
So I went back back and the owner told me the front rotors had been replaced. I said go look at them. He wouldn't look at them but insisted they were new. So I told the front desk man to go look at my front rotors. He wanted no part of it and vanished into the back.
In my case at least, it's fair to say these people are liars and thieves. Maybe I was treated this way because I'm Hispanic. But in any case the people at this Mavis will rob you blind if you let them. I fought hard to stop them robbing me and still got stuck with my old front rotors when I had paid full price for new ones.
Don't say you weren't warned.
wheel alignment
I had a 4 wheel alignment on my 2011 Mazda performed by Mavis on 12/22/16. I also bought two new tires from them at the same time and had them mounted on the front and had the tire that were on the front, that I also bought from Mavis on 3/31/16 moved to the back. In April 2017 I was told that both my rear tires were significantly worn on the inside rims, a definite sign of misalignment. I went back to Mavis and was told this was due to faulty shock absorbers, though when the shcks are gone the pattern or ware on tires is completely different, and that I need to have them replaced and a new alignment and tires. Between the alignment in 12.16 and now only 6, 000- miles have been put on those tire which showed no uneven or unusual ware at the time they were rotated to the rear positions. I have photos showing the ware on the tires, and the condition of the shock absorbers and the fact that the bolts used for wheel alignments weren't even opened . I want Mavis to do another wheel alignment and provide new tire to replace the ones that were destroyed by them die to bad or non-performance of the alignment.
tire replacements
I took my 2003 Cadillac to New Hyde store Facility# 7072825 to replace two tires, and 3 wiper blades including wheel alignment after placing the new tires at the front. Today, I was totally shocked by what they did. Installed the new tires rear, placed 16" and 22" vipers at the windshield, no rear wiper blade was changed. When I pointed out to the store manager Mr . Kurt about these things He was so mad and tried to teach me about tires and his experience on the Job. I was not given the alignment receipt. I am totally upset and disappointed
manager at a store
About 2 weeks ago I was at 3209 Chili Ave Store, Rochester NY having a tire rotation. While waiting for my car the manager (I believe his name was Troy) was at the desk taking care of a customer and called one of his employees out to the desk. At that time he asked why something wasn't done to a car and when the employee explained he had never done that with the work that was done on the car. The manager started yelling at him and told him its going to be done now and continued to tell him several times over and over. The employee was very calm and told him ok and went to do the job. A few minutes later I was called up to the desk and was told your done and my keys were tossed on the counter. I had asked if they found any problems and he said I could go, I was done. I walked out and was very upset the way he treated his employee and then me. It was very unprofessional and uncalled for. I had purchased my tires there and if that's how you treat customers when you offer free tire rotation with the purchase of the tires maybe I can find a place that can treat a customer with respect the next time a need tires. very disappointed.
