You guys are terrible. I bought both winter tires and all season tires with mavis last year and change them when the season changes. I have went went to three mavis tire locations (Irondequoit, west Webster, and Webster) and you guys are all terrible. Every time I go it takes too long to do the work. Doesn't matter which mavis I go to it's terrible. I didn't know it takes 3 hours to change tires and a battery. Thanks for wasting half my day. I will not be back to mavis and will be doing my car repairs elsewhere. And don't use the excuse of being busy there's no one here at the Webster location and only two other vehicle here. There is also 4, yes 4 employees just joking and standing there. The salesman Eli tries to sell me a brake job costing 500$ which is fine I do need new brakes. However if you guys expect me to come back to waste another afternoon watching you guys stand there and joke while I have to take a half day from work waiting for you guys do your job you guys are wrong.
servicing my vehicle
I arrived at Mavis at 1pm it is now 5pm and mavis is closed I've been waiting all this time for my vehicle to be serviced and mavis has failed to do so. The staff has failed to keep me abreast of the status of my vehicle. The staff also gave a lot of false promises stated he would be about to tell me what is wrong with the vehicle but I have continuously brought me vehicle here for the 4 time with the same problem. I have recommended mavis to several of who are now loyal customers. I am so absolutely disgusted and displeased with the service that hasn't been given to me as a loyal mavis customer. Now because you as a company haven't made my visit as comfortable as it should be, I will now take my business elsewhere.
Ps. I've waited for 4 hours and my vehicle was n bet serviced.
service
Had original appointment set for 10:30am. The manager call me back a few hours later and said that if I had the tires there by 8:00am that they would get the car right in. He said somebody would be in by 7:30 to open up. We got there by 7:30 and I unloaded the tires onto the ground. Some young guy with with short dark hair showed up with a poor attitude and told me to move the tires over to the sidewalk. I just had spinal surgery and two hip replacements. So I moved the tires/rims to where he wanted while he locked the leaving us and another older couple standing outside in the freezing cold. He could have let us stand at least let us wait in the lobby until he finished eating his apple and staring at us until 8:00am. At 8:01 he walked over a locked the door. I walked up to the counter and he said "Yeah?" To too things off, my Wife noticed on her way into work that ALL 4 tires were at least 10lbs under pressure. This is the third time we've had a bad experience there. We've taken our business elsewhere...
before leaving mavis recheck your car
I needed wheel bearing service on my 2002 PT Cruiser. They replaced the wheel bearings on both sides, put in new axle on both sides. Went to go pick up the car and notice a roaring sound going down the street. Sound like my car going down the run way. I notice I was loosing transmission fluid. Never had transmission problems prior or loosing fluid. Turned out that I was loosing transmission fluid in the axle when they installed it. Turned out that they put the wrong axle on my car.
Don't take car your to Mavis Discount Tires in Greece, NY
oil change
I went to the Latham, NY location of mavis discount tire and got an oil change about a month ago, i was driving my car and heard a dinging sound in my car so i went back to mavis and they said it was my timing belt that had to be replaced and sent me elsewhere. So i went to another mechanic and low and behold my car does not even have a timing belt. Went to a third mechanic was told that i have no oil in my car and the car engine could have been blown if i continued to drive the vehicle. I will never go to mavis ever again ! VERY DISAPPOINTED
wheel alignment
I had recently changed all components to my suspension and had an alignment by very experienced hendrickson car care, I had shortly later (Yesterday) had a flat and the gentleman at mavis in mt. Sinai immediately stated I need an alignment (He may have been hinting at that being the reason for my flat, but I know it wasn't) I agreed, let me note that I had a puncture in this tire it was not a hard hit to something however agreed to do it even though my car drove perfectly straight he said the tires are wearing on the inside. After I leave I notice my car pulls hard to the right now fighting the wheel, I am smelling a burning smell ever since and now feel a wable. I am concerned for my fairly new hub bearings, so I went back this morning. There was no customers at the location in rocky point this morning when I arived yet the gentleman said I had to leave my car because it was a saturday and there is no crew. That's a huge inconvenience I told him I needed it by 10am this was about 8:15, the 2 gentleman there explained they have a skeleton crew and I would have to leave the car. None the less I was told to come back during the week. This is a horrible experience for me with another mavis location. I was better off with no alignment I am now forced to drive putting pressure on bearings and bushings that shouldn't be. I'm sure he will tell me I need something when I go back now, I feel this is there way to produce work for themselves, what a shame. And by the way, everybody that was there yesterday while I waited was sold an alignment, they should stop that they do not even know how to do the alignment, your ripping people off! We will see what happens monday morning if my car makes it, because this is my daily driver and I have a job to do
broken hood latch
On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, I went into the Fords store for rear end brakes and an oil change. I was notified when my car was done however they did not provide service for rear end brakes. The manager stated that I needed drums instead of pads and it was too late to order them. He went on to say that my hood would not close and come to pick up my car at 9:00 pm which was about 2 1/2 hours later. I never had a problem with my hood opening on closing so I did not think much about it. I went immediately to get my car only to find that it was serious. The hood would not latch on to the hook. A front desk service worker tried for about an hour. After waiting about an hour and a half, he got it to stay closed. To my surprise he stated he attached a cable tie to hold it down and I would not have any problems. I stated that I was leaving for a convention the next day and I did not feel comfortable. Again, he assured me that it would be fine. I spoke to the manager again about how uncomfortable I was about the situation. He stated that if I buy the part he would put it in on Friday or Saturday. Again, I was told it would be secure. BUT that was not the case. Driving back on the highway from my convention the "sturdy" tie was loosening but the 1/4 mile. I feared for my safety. I had to search for a place that was still open to give me a temporary fix so I could make it home. Eventually I found a AAA company to help me out. They were able to latch the hood without a cable tire. I made it home safely. They informed me that the spring was missing from my car. I remembered the service worker holding the spring in his hand when he was working on it. I am quite displeased with the lack of service and care for my safety.
tires - oil change
Src: [protected] - Order # 031227 - Date: 11/10/2017 - Time of appt: 2:00 pm
Client name: Sefik Bajric Vehicle: 2014 Chevy Malibu LS
Needed two tires replaced, asked for tire rotation, oil change, had appt at 2:00 pm. got done at 4:37 - Tires never got rotated, pressure on new tires as low so i had to put some air on the way to work since i was running late to work. Oil change reminder was never put on my windshield, grease all over steering wheel and doors. On top of that the front managers were extremely rude and annoyed with other customers when asked when their service would be ready. When I was getting ready to get checked out I noticed my car out front sitting for about 10 min with the two managers mingling not letting me know it was ready. No one asked if they wanted me to do the tire rotation so i insisted i will take care of it on my own. Upon my receipt, lady angrily asked me to sign, and when i can took a second to review the bill before signing she responded: "dont worry, youll get a copy" - so i told her i liked to review things before signing. No welcome, how can i help you in the beginning, no thank you, have a nice day, thank you for your business. Mavis discount tires i guess means discounted or rather compromised customer and mechanical service. Thanks for all, wont be seeing me and definitely will not recommend your place to anyone.
tire purchase 10/30/17
This was the first time doing business with Mavis Tire and will be my last. I was in the market to have a single tire replaced on my 2014 Jetta and was generally pleased with my price quote that I was given so I made an appointment to be seen at 3:45pm at the Vestal NY location. I admit that I arrived at 4pm but sadly did not have my car serviced until 5:50pm. Overall, the overall service was cold, unpersonable and unapologetic. I certainly will not be returning and certainly would not recommend to anyone. Just disappointed overall since I could have paid 5 dollars more for the same tire and had it replaced in a REASONABLE one hour period of time. Tons of competition in the greater Binghamton NY area...I will certainly find an alternative location for my tire and vehicle needs.
Thanks for your time
appointments
I made an appointment to get my car inspected. Mavis even sent me a reminder to do so. I made an appointment for 9:30 in the morning and they even called me to confirm I would be there.
I show up 15 minutes early and had to wait a good 10 minutes to even check in because 2 people behind the counter we busy helping one customer.
As sit waiting for my car I notice at 10 that my car hasn't even been touched and is still sitting in the parking lot. I ask a tech who is out side about my car and that I made an appointment for a certain time and he tells me that doesn't matter, if people get here before you you go to the the back of the line. WHAT? I finally speak to the girl at the counter who tells me pretty much the same thing. That technicians are working on vehicles that got here before you. She goes on to tell me my car may not even get in with a tech until 11:00. If I had known appointments are pretty much not taken seriously, why do they give you the option to make one? There is nothing on the website that says this is a maybe appointment depending on who gets here first. I have never heard of this ever from any reliable company and will never return to Mavis for anything again. I had to cancel something I had planned for two weeks with some friends this morning because of this scam. So if you make a so called appointment at Mavis don't expect them to ever have you looked at for the time expected. Seriously disappointed.
Did you ask if the people who got there before you had appointments? They may have had one as well and it was running long. Unfortunately they may have also been stuck with a walk-in with an unforeseen problem. Once they start working on a vehicle, I assume they cannot just stop to service the next appointment.
service
I stopped to get 2 tires at Mavis. I was told it would take 45 minutes. It took them almost 2 hours, made me late for work, late to get back to my children getting off a bus. While I stood there waiting for them to come talk to me as to what was taking so long, I heard them making rude comments as to what to make up as an excuse as to what was wrong.
The person tried to excuse it, and apologized but that doesn't make it better. I get home and come to find that all 4 of my tires (which had all been off because they were also fixing my alignment apparently) were all really low on tire pressure. I believe they were at 25, 30, 30 and 30. You'd think a place specializing in tires would have put that at the appropriate 45, 45, 55 and 55 they should have been for safe driving.
This was the crappiest tire service I have ever had. Over twice as long as quoted, rude people in the staff, and don't seem to even give good service. I will never go there again.
brake service incomplete
Mid year 2016, along with new tires, I had driver & passenger sides front end brake pads & rotors replaced on my '04 Prius, at Mavis Discount Tire in Great Barrington MA. Service was efficiently done and at a fair price. Recently I had chronic brake squeaks checked at a nearby service shop. The mechanic said the brake assembly was not properly cleaned and/or lubricated by the Mavis mechanic when installed. This caused rust buildup on the brake parts, prevented regular movement within the calipers and caused the sqeaking. The local mechanic charged me $80 to access, dismantle, clean and lubricate, and re-install the brake parts. Now they work fine.
I would like to receive a discount coupon
repairs/flush replace fluids
On 9/20/17 i stopped by local mavis (rocky point, ny.) My check engine light was on which i told them what the codes were since i used my own OBD scanner to save myself the diagnostics fee of $60 which they charged me anyways. They told me they replaced the oil filter which has been replaced recently i didnt ask for that. I got charged for new filter + labor. Than they told me my head gasket, thermostate had to be replaced which i didnt think it was bad. Got charged for those + labor. My total came to be $918.87 i got the bill did some math and it does not make any sense. Are you telling me labor was almost $300? Than parts $800? Wtf? I want a full refound you can keep your parts. I am convinced you have sabotaged my car cause 2 days after my tranny was gone. I put almost 1k in a car that is now junk. And it hasnt even been a week since i left Mavis. You will be hearing from my lawyer. Ive been there 3 times hoping each one will be better they always broke something n denied it. My filter cover was broken 1st time. 2nd time broke my trunk, 3rd my transmission. My wife goes well used to now we refuse to go to any mavis.
service
Went to Mavis in Elverson PA to get new tires. New tires installed alignment performed. Next day took the car back to get alignment checked again because it was not done right the first time. After doing the second alignment on the second visit the manager tells us the tie rods are bad. Took the car back to the dealership to have the dealership check the tie rods and they provided us with paperwork stating there is absolutely no issue with the tie rods. Went back to Mavis for a third visit to have them remove their statement from the system for tire warranty purposes and found out my talking to the manager not the alignment was performed buy a quote Tire installer. I am told that the recommendation for the tie rod ends has been removed although I would like proof and I AM ALSO REQUESTING A FULL REFUND ON THE ALIGNMENT AS IT WAS NOT DONE BY A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL AND I NOW HAVE TO TAKE IT TO BE DONE BY SOMEONE COMPETENT. After speaking with Tony the general manager he then told me he will not refund until I waste more of my time and money to go elsewhere to have it done the way it should have been done the first time going back and forth with the store they have already wasted my time and lost my business. I don't appreciate being lied to
I hope this can be resolved ASAP
driver side rear tire air leak
I had a rear tire on driver side leaking air. Called mavis to set up appoinment and they told to come right up. Got there and told them rear drivers side air leak that I had called. They said ok and that there were 2 people in front of us. Took them 2 hours to finally pull truck in. They took all 4 tires off. I asked the counter person why are my tires off. I just wanted u to check tire rear driver side. The guy said hold on went back out there and said they couldn't find a leak. Never answered me about removing all 4 tires. Then they all went out and had a snack and ciggerette break still making us wait! They did not charge us but now I don't know if my tire is fixed or even if it is on the same side do to them removing all tires!
horrible customer service and no accountability!
Car was overnight for an oil change in Chalfont, Pa.
Notified in AM by local police that 8 cars had been vandalized during the night. Slashed tires and broken windows by local teens.
Mavis had the attitude that each owner should take care of their car and contact their insurance company. No apology or even a free oil change. I had to vacuum the glass out myself and lose a half day from work to arrange for replacement glass.
Their cameras were only on the office and the garage, not on the parking lot. You are taking a huge risk if you leave your car with them. They will not be held accountable and refer you to corporate, who refers you to your insurance. Awful business people!
full synthetic oil change
I recently visited Farmingdale, NY Mavis for an oil change, Order #026254.
This was the first time with my 2016 Honda CR-V.
I am a frequent customer at this location.
I was told by the Service writer that the ONLY choice was Full Synthetic Oil change at $64.99 plus tax. Having not checked my owner's manual, I believed him. He told most car 2012 and newer required Full Synthetic and I took his word for it. After checking my owner's manual, it stated that Full Synthetic was an OPTION, but 0W20 detergent oil use was normal.
I feel I was misled by your employee. To ensure my continued use of Mavis, I feel I'm entitled to some restitution for paying for an oil change type I did not need.
I've been going to Mavis a little over 5 years now and have nothing but great service, fair prices, and quality work. 👍🏼
not compensating fully for the loss of my car that was stolen under their possession
I dropped off my car (Audi A-6) for Tire replacement back on July 20th 2017 at Mavis Discount Tire located at 27 Morristown Rd, Bernardsville, NJ 07924 and one of the mechanic left the car unlocked with the keys in it in a off site parking lot only to be stolen 30-45 mins later. The police arrested the mechanic but was later let go. However they did find warrants against this employee only to let go off him after the theft. Now I am getting a run around by Mavis' insurance (Sentry Insurance) for my loss as they want to compensate me for the fair market value and not a replacement cost. Since the car was still under warranty for additional 2 years and also had Audi care package I feel they should compensate for the replacement cost and not fair market value because they lost my car due to the negligence and I'm having to go thru pain and suffering to get compensated. Willing to provide all corresponding documents to the reliable person willing to settle this.
service unacceptable
On 9/10/17 I went to the Mavis discount tire store (8066 Brewerton Rd, Cicero, NY 13039) to have a tps sensor replaced which they had previously diagnosed. I called ahead and the attendant said to bring the car in. I arrived at approximately 11:20am and waited until 2pm. My car never made it out of the parking lot. Never once did anyone come to explaining anything...yet it seemed like the mechanics were having a fun time fooling around in the shop. Maybe that's why nothing was getting done.
At 2pm I had had enough! I went to the counter to request my key and part back so I could leave. The manager said I was next, but given that my birthday is in April I didn't want to risk missing it waiting in this shop.
I know that like many American businesses today Mavis does not care about little 'ol me or the thousands that I have spent with them over the years for tire sets and other services. Companies like Sears and Kmart also once thought that they were invincible b/c of their size and volume - now look at them.
I don't care how much more my next set of tires cost...I know where I won't be purchasing!
brakes/wheel bearing job!
Brought my vehicle in for brakes and wheel bearing replacement. While fixing that, they broke the axle.Whem fixing the axle(for free) they broke the ABS wire. Now after telling me to bring the car in again today, after all day they call and say to pick it up, they didn't have time to look at it today! And apparently can fit me in this Friday, , hence it is Monday now, , and 2 weeks later from when I began this process. My car now has a problem starting and the check engine light is on.
