no air conditioning in fitness studio in butler, nj
This is unacceptable that we do not have any air in the studio room for most of May and all of June already. The room has a constant temp of around 80-85 degrees. This is where we do Zumba, Cario Scuplt, Burn, Yoga and many other classes. I'm truly surprise no one has passed out due to the intense heat. Thank god you have amazing instructors who care about the members when the gym does not. I'm ready to find another gym...
10 months of monthly charges after the membership was canceled
My daughter Caitlin O'Connor who was a member of the NYSC in Great Neck for a few weeks last summer. Her Member number was 9102750. Caitlin went to the Great Neck Location on July 24th 2017 along with her sister (Caroline O'Connor) to resign her membership. Both girls resigned on the same day and time. Caitlin turned in her key tag and cancelled the membership. Recently, my husband noticed that there was a recurring charge for $29.99 on MY credit card from NYSC. Since we were not sure why, both my daughters went to the Great Neck club to investigate . Its very confusing since both cancelled in the Great Neck location together. They spoke with the woman at the desk who took the information and said she would look into the matter and was not sure why the membership was not cancelled. They spoke to Carol at the Great Neck branch who said she could not help. We called the corporate office and spoke to Kathy (ID#K119-she would not give me her last name). Kathy said that she could not help us, that there were NO managers in the office and that I should reach out to Josh Levy who is the regional manager. I have left messages and emailed him 3 times with no response.
Aside from the fact that my daughter's cancellation was never processed, her membership should have never even been issued. She was a minor (age 17) and according to the NYSC policies:
"Any individual 14 years or older may join any Sports Clubs facility. Children under the age of 14 may not utilize the cardio and strength training areas, or the group exercise studios, unless enrolled in a Sports Clubs program or service. Select locations have a limited membership option available for children under 14 (all individuals 14-17 years old must have a parent or guardian sign a membership agreement). "
I never authorized or signed any membership agreement or authorized her to use a credit card that was issued in my name. If you look at her records, you can see that there has been NO USAGE on this membership because the membership was supposed to be canceled. Can you please look into this matter. This error was made by NYSC Great Neck and I should not be out $300 because they did not cancel the membership properly.
customer service and harassment by employees
For the last five months, I have been on the receiving end of a campaign of harassment from the general manager of the Oceanside location, Samantha Noah. She's threatened me both indirectly, and to my face. She has refused to acknowledge my complaints about the state of the facilities, literally turning around and walking away as though I did not speak. She has told me twice that she had the right to revoke the memberships of people she doesn't like. I had to start recording the conversations as proof of the unprofessional way I was being treated. She finally ended it by getting in my face one day, and revoking my membership "because she can do that". The corporate office would not take my calls. They wouldn't let me speak to managers above her. They wouldn't listen to the recordings of her threats, nor would they allow me to file a harassment claim or open an investigation. Corporate told me it was best that I just leave quietly and not make noise about it. They would give me no reason for the revocation of my membership. And one of the people in corporate, LaTisha, wouldn't even give me her full name, and claimed her employee number was 123. Noah is dating one of her superiors, so there was literally no where else for me to go. The lack of professionalism or decency in this matter is astounding. I cannot believe the way this has been handled and the lack of respect I've had to face at the hands of the manager of the NYSC Oceanside location, and later her employers, who are trying to hush it up.

Pathetic gym, terrible team... started my email with these kind of adjectives is simply due to the utter disappointment and frustration extented to us by the awful team of nysc austin street... they are robbers as well as liars as they will not stand by their own words and committments... m so pissed with them, that i am going to curse these people for the rest of my life each and every second... especially the GM Isaac Thomas ... suggestion for nysc... please try and change this team, else this will ruin the whole nysc world wide... throw them out... they are all liars... thieves... very bad and disgusting people...please do take some possible action...
charged untold fees

I enrolled at NYSC, Colonia NJ location. At the time of enrollment Manager - Joseph martino, told us that there will no annual fees and it will be month to month contract.
Also first month will be free.
But I was charged for 1st month fees and also annual fees.
I personally went to meet him 3 -4 times, but he is unreachable, I also left messages at front desk for him to contact me back. But till now he didnt contact me, and staff at Colonia location also not giving proper response. They said, he is working at Springfield location, but when I called Springfield location, they say no one with that name works here.
Its really frustrating . Expecting prompt response.
gym & membership
I am a member at the Dobbs Ferry NYSC location. Over the past year the gym has deteriorated. Staff is lethargic and more interested in personal conversations than attending to a customer (a simple task of checking me in). The towels are a wrinkled mess and not even folded anymore. Equipment is dirty and often broken. To add insult to injury, I was unaware that they have the balls to charge, what they call, an "anniversary fee"! They should pay me that fee for sticking it out a year! Then, another surprise, the monthly dues also mysteriously increased by $5. No warning, they just happily deduct from my credit card. I have had it with the mediocre service and the non-transparency of their membership fees. I have reached out to them and hope they do the right thing, but from what I have heard they don't care about customer service, just about your $. It's not ok how they run this business!
abrasive supervisor
I am contacting you to formally ask your corporate offices to speak to the supervisor of your Princeton, NJ location. I have asked Michael Krick to formally not contact me several times and has not complied with my requests. Mr. Krick has threatened me, balled his fist up and hit a desk in anger in front of me, used unprofessional language directed at me, and is incapable of doing his job without being abrasive. If Mr. Krick contacts me again I will be contacting to police and filing harassment charges. I have asked that anyone but him contact me regarding my account and membership and he has replied several times telling me that "I have to" speaks with him and can't have another contact at NYSC. I find his actions to be extremely harassing and will be contacting my attorney if this problem pursues.

charged annual fee after had requested cancellation

I requested the cancellation of my membership on 3/26/2018. The gyms asks for 30 days notice which is fine, notice was given.
BUT on 4/2/2018 I was charged their annual fee, even though I had already requested the cancellation prior.
Why should I pay for an annual fee if I had already requested a cancellation and won't be there for the year of the fee? I called manager who refused to refund me the annual fee.

Since I was planning to move to different town from East Meadow, I initially went to NYSC to cancel my membership on Jan 2018.
The Sales person told " its so simple process, we cancelled it on the computer. btw, you got pretty good deal $15/month - why do you want to cancel ".
I told the reason for cancellation and asked for receipt and he said " we do not provide cancellation receipt as its already on system. System needs to process this and manager needs to approve. you have 45 days notice period, you will stop seeing credit card bills after that "
Unfortunately I did not check for NYSC payment status on credit card statements for many months. After 4 months, I happen to see that NYSC is still charging on my credit card. When I asked they told me to give me the proof. After lots to heated discussion, i realized that they had my email id wrongly stored in their system. I asked them to correct it and eventually they emailed me a cancellation to my corrected email id (Invoice #[protected] on 5/2/18)
I seriously believe that NYSC had emailed to wrong ID on Jan month when I went originally to cancel. If you have video recordings, I can prove that I came there on Jan month of 2018 and had above discussion, I specifically asked for receipt.
Honestly I do not think charging extra on my credit card for March, Apr, May is not right. I spoke with manager at NYSC and re-initiated cancellation on 5/2/18 on Invoice #[protected] however I already did it on Jan 2018.
I request for the refund of March, Apr, May 2018.

Hello, my name is Adrian Senat. I have been a member when your sports club for several years now. Recently, my membership is my vote my general manager Kathy from Garnerville New York New York sports club. I would like to file a complaint about unfair treatment and targeting from New York sports club. Over the past couple of months I have been disrespected and harassed by some of the staff members there. I try to ignore it and continue wearing about my day not bothering anyone. They have also harass me about training with my friend. I have brought the same friend there and I worked out with them for several months now. New York sports club has been my home gym and I'm seeking advice in order to appeal this decision made by general manager Kathy. The members there have fabricated a story about me punching a hole in the bedroom and about members filing a complaint they told me they had to revoke my membership because people were scared for their safety which is not true if you can give me a call back at [protected] I will gladly appreciate it

still being harassed for payment after cancelled membership 6 months ago
I cancelled my membership last October 2017. I spoke with the manager in October and he cancelled both mine and my husband's memberships, effective November 2017. I spoke with him again in February 2018 when I was sent a letter threatening that I was going to be sent to collections for non-payment of my cancelled membership. The manager apologized and told me the matter was solved. In March 2018, NYSC charged my card illegally for monthly dues for a membership I no longer had (my credit card was not on file and the card number had changed). I spoke with my credit card company and put a block on NYSC & contacted the manager again and informed him what was happening. He apologized and said it wouldn't happen again.
Yet, here we are, April and I am being told that I owe for a membership I cancelled 6 months ago. *update* I just found out the manager never cancelled. He just told me he did.
monthly membership price
I have noticed that my monthly membership has increased without notice. I have gone onsite to discuss this with two NYSC gym in NYC; Union Square as 41st. I have spoken to multiple managers at both locations and there doesn't seem to be anyone that manages either gyms or personnel that can assist with troubleshooting or investigating this case. It's been ongoing for over 2 months now and have had email communications with Jillian Pollidore, Patricia Curran, Arlene Martinez, and Ryan Pastore. There has been no response back from anyone concerning this matter and frankly do not think they care about not only keeping my business but my wife's as well who is also linked to my account. I will be cancelling this membership and will never be recommending this gym again.

I'm writing as a former long-term member. Unfortunately I cancelled my membership because of a problem with the location at .
I joined NYSC in NYC back in 2006 as part of a corporate membership. I ended that membership when I moved out of the country for a period of time. Upon my return, I joined the location in Hoboken. I was happy with my membership, although I had to cancel from time-to-time. (I work internationally so I've had a few occasions to live abroad.) However, I always return to NYSC. Last year, I had to put my membership on hold due to a pregnancy. I had some complications so last February my doctor ordered me to stop working out for the duration of my pregnancy and for the two months following delivery.
Last March I called NYSC to inform them of this medical order. I explained that I could not work out until two months after my delivery date. I asked to place my membership on hold until December. Rather than doing that, I was charged the entire fee the entire time, except for one discount in June for $16. I noticed this and called the manager, Andrew, many times to no avail. He has not returned any of my phone calls. I even went to the gym to speak to him in person, but he wasn't there. Due to this problem, I cancelled my credit card so that payments would stop being made to NYSC.
In fact, not only did NYSC not place my membership on hold, but they quadruple charged me in January. I am disgusted by this. I always used and enjoyed my membership at NYSC, but I will not return until these funds are returned. Please look into my membership and return the fees from March through December. Once made whole, I may consider returning to NYSC (I do have baby weight to lose!), but not until those funds are reimbursed.

This is the 3rd time in a 4 week period in which my locker was broken into. The first time I ignored it and thought it was accidentally cut, so I didn't complain. 2nd time I advised the staff and manager of my locker being broken into I lost $43. Nothing was done. They merely replaced my lock and notified me that they would be handling the situation. Today for the 3rd time my locker was broken into and I was robbed of $50 and an iPad. I reported this to the general manager and was informed that their was nothing he could do due to the fact that their are no cameras in the locker room. This is simply ridiculous. You advise members who enter into YOUR facilities that you are not responsible for people breaking into lockers, but you most definitely are responsible a hundred percent. A crime was committed on your premises and you assume that you aren't responsible? This is ridiculously absurd. I've spoken to many memebers and they have told me that they too have been victims and had to resort to carrying their expensive personal items with them through out their training in order to maintain peace of mind during their workouts. Something needs to be done immediately and restitutions needs to be justifiable accommodated. If I have to I will collect the names and member numbers of each person that have used your facilities that have been a victim to the incompetencies of your organization to reconcile this daily hardship and inconvenience.
machines - customer service - babysitting
I have been with NYSC for years and used to really enjoy going but the last two years, there has been change in staff and management and to top it off, dues went up. The machines are always broken and rusted m, feels disgusting to even have to touch handlebars when working out on elyptical machines, treadmills, stairmasters. About a year ago my gym partner was on the stair master and the machine started to get out of control and my friend fell and really hurt himself. We told the staff and they did nothing about it and left the machine broken. The gym is always very dirty and as a test I left a piece of garbage on the floor of the studio and was there weeks later( proof that no one ever cleans the studios). Plus all of the equipment is very outdated and the place has a nasty stench! The women's bathrooms are dirty never any soap to wash hands paper towels always out, wipes to wipe down machines after use are not always in place. The staff is not too friendly (some not all). And last but probably not least- when I take my kids so I can take a class the babysitters are not always there so I have to wait and I can assure that they are not cpr certified as they claim they are. I have complained numerous times and no one ever does anything! This is the EAST BRUNSWICK NJ location!
unauthorized credit card charges
I signed an agreement for $19.95 monthly membership fees plus $39.95 annual fees on Nov 30th 2014.
My gym started charging my card $31.95 without my consent for the past few months. When I asked to see the original signed contract, I was given a clearly forged copy saying it's $31.95 on the next billing date 12/01/2014. The gym owner was not cooperating and refused to adjust the fees according to the binding agreement.
I would report the issue to the BBB and if needed, I would seek legal actions.

I am also going through the same thing. I joined in March 2015 at $19.95 per month. On Nov 2016, my rate was increased to $21.95. I did not receive any notice (mail, email, phone call, etc). I let it go because I figured it was just $2. Now this past Nov 2017, my rate was increased AGAIN to $31.95 with no notice. Did anyone reach out to you about this issue? This is concerning because how many others are being scammed?

It's a scam when yuh cancel to pay the full month and then get charged twice in one month after that I will tell everyone I know to never do business with guys ever again unfair and a rip off . I had a passport membership that I canceled in January 2018 it's now March and I am still being charged. Also when I canceled I was charged the full price for February and just only in March have been told that it's two reoccurring fees even after I paid the full month of February to a zero balance they charge a few to close out the passport which I was never never told anything about it's unfair to keep taking someone's money and no service is being given
broken equipment & cockroaches
The NYSC located on 41st Street- Theater District in Manhattan (bet. 7th and 8th Avenue) has issues which have not been addressed by management. On Feb. 5, 2018 I first noticed the cable cross over machine to be broken. I took pictures on Feb. 21, 2018 of the machines which still had not been repaired. It is now March 7, 2018 and the machine is STILL out of service. We are being charge for a services/ goods that are not being provided or met. In addition to the broken machines, numerous cockroaches have been spotted on the green turf on the second floor.Please Fix the machines and pest problems.

I've been going to the NYSC Atlas location in Glendale for about 2 years now. For the past year, I've been going to the gym in the early morning. I would wake up at 4:30 and get there by 5 so I could workout for an hour and leave by 6am. Even though the gym hours didn't open until 5:30, there was a community respect for the early-risers where the employee would let us in earlier because he knew we were great clients, respectful, would clean up, etc. Now just this morning we show up to a new " trainer" who says he can't let anyone upstairs until 5:30 EVEN THOUGH the lights are on and he's there. Let's not forget to mention how every morning we all have to work out in filth because he might manager from before does not clean up at all. Yet we still come, devotes, to work out and leave and not cause any problems. The hours of operation need to change until 5 like the other neighboring gyms (who have atleast updated equipment and are working) or else NYSC is going to lose A LOT of customers.
