Do not use this Planet Fitness. They are rude and try to steal your money after you have cancelled. They sell a bill of goods. Its cheap and then it starts. Oh we have 11, 0000 members and since your card did not go through (it went through the last months wouldnt you think something was up and call or notify a valued member) before charging) we are charging you $10.00. No we did not call you or notify you and we do not care why it did not go through. We just charged you and deal with it. So I did and cancelled my membership. I paid the $10.00 overcharge and a cancel fee to get out of my contract. Guess what? They then tried to charge me for another months membership and said I did not cancel early enough. When a manager cancels you and says you are cancelled and all is over then I take it as that is it. I DID not give them approval to charge the new card. When I called to question the charge the answer from the manager was deal with your bank. So I did and they are disputing the charge. I now know how Planet Fitness makes money. They randomly charge cards and wait to see what you do on your end. . Planet Fitness might be cheap but in the end it will cost you. They are scammers and try any way that they can to scam you. I do wonder if they could not put a payment through one month due to the card not going through and I did not give them approval to use the new card, how did they get the new card into their system? I will never recommend Planet Fitness on Coors in Albuquerque and in general would not ever use a Planet Fitness again. A professional manager would have said "lets take care of this". There are no professional managers at Planet Fitness on Coors. Walk in there and see. No one really works they just walk around chatting, compared to other Planet Fitness facilities this one is dirty and grimy. All that I can say is SCAMMERS! IF YOU ARE SMART STAY AWAY FROM ALL PLANET FITNESS CENTERS AND SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I did stick up for myself and cancelled as well as filed a complaint with the corp of Planet Fitness. I have been in sales for many years and do not screw over my customers. I am sure that this comment itself is from the manager at Planet fitness as that is again their MO. You lost a customer and you should be ashamed as to how you did it. My complaint was the additional scam on my credit card. I paid my cancel fee. I paid additional to cancel and I followed what the contract stated. For the Albuquerque Planet Fitness to charge another monthe without approval is a scam. If you are intellegent you will read the comments around the world about the scam Planet Fitness runs. Planet Fitness trys to suck you in and within a year FINDS a way to charge you extra on something. Sitting back and letting them do it ...well that would be not standing up for myself.
Im a member at Planet Fitness and think its great, Never got scamed been a member 2 years.
Ive been a member at Planet Fitness for 2 years and its great .I have never been ove charged And I bring my girlfriend for free, The other day I went to there Menaul location And I got my haircut for free, they even have free tanning, so for me its great. I used to be a member of Defined and that place was dirty and the staff was rude
If you didn't cancel by the proper deadlines then you owe for another month. For example, they bill on the 17th, so it clearly states that you must cancel by the 10th. If you cancel AFTER the 10th, you will be charged for one more month. You still get access to the club until the 16th of the next month. For the annual fees, you MUST cancel by the 25th of the previous month in order to stop that from drafting your account. Once you go past the deadline, it is out of Planet Fitness employee's hands. Read your contracts, it is all clearly stated in there. If they are still charging you and you have proof of cancellation and have met all deadlines and paid any applicable buy out fees, then you can take it up with a lawyer.
I agree 100% with the comment about Planet Fitness gouging their customers. They make you jump through ridiculous hurdles to cancel a membership. They will not accept your letter 30 days prior to your membership cancellation. I delivered my cancellation request before the 10th, per their contract, in hopes of canceling my membership by the 17th of the following month. They wouldn't accept it. They told me I had to either pay $58 to cancel the agreement or visit in person to cancel on the 17th of the following month. I decided to go that route since it would have cost less. Long story short, they continued to charge me and overcharge me late fees when I was already paid up, according to the person I spoke with at the Alameda location. I blocked them from my credit card so they would stop charging me. They would then call me and ask for payment. I went to the gym and spoke with John, the manager. He told me they made a mistake and would credit the last payment that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE which was double the fee it should have been. I never received a credit and they continue to try to collect. They are INDEED SCAMMERS! If they don't resolve this issue with my credit card, I am contacting the BBB and the attorney general's office. This is NOT about the money. They are in the WRONG and the message needs to be dispersed that doing business in a dishonest manner is NOT OK!
Planet Fitness in ABQ (run by Rick Glassman) has shown criminal intent in the way he continues to charge members fees AFTER the member has informed verbally &/or in writing that they want to cancel their membership. The practice is to "ignore" such requests UNLESS it is submitted by certified mail. Even then, for those who cancel a contractual membership which involves a cancelation fee, the fee will NOT be automatically charged by Planet Fitness. The contract clearly states that PF has the right to charge any and all fees via the pmt plan yet... They will not charge the cancelation fee and simply claim it is still owed to them & until it is paid, the monthly fees will still be applicable. What EVERYONE needs to be aware of is that the cancelation fee includes a tax and that it is NOT the members responsibility to come up with that amount. It is the responsibility of PF to process that fee, like all other fees via the contract agreement. This deceitful practice IS illegal. I brought this matter to the NM attorney general ~5 yrs ago.
