We decided not renew our subscription to Readers Digest and told them so. Of course they ignored this request and charged our credit card $32.98. When we complained about this they returned $21.98 to the credit card keeping $10.99 we complained about this oversight they ignored us again. They haven't returned any emails or money. What right do these crooks have to steal from us? I know this isn't much money, but why should we give it away to a rich company for nothing? We sure don't owe them this money!
I too cannot access the website to register for the iPod. It burns me when these things happen. Outward appearance great--offering chances to win for supporting the magazine--then reality--can't submit entry. This happens all the time with contests etc.. I would think with RD's reputation it could be a little better organized. Just another scam to make you think you have a chance in winning something. Just like all the other contests RD offers. You submit steady & never hear another word. Joke! I'm definitely rethinking my subscription. You want to believe you're dealing with a reputable company but you have to start to question the reputation.

Stop trying to seach for these addresses in Google, Yahoo, DogPile, etc.
At the top of your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.), you'll see an address which begins with http.
Replace it with the address you got from Reader's Digest and you'll get to where you're supposed to be.
Then you can enter.
This is what I do and I never have any problems.
Readers Digest keep sending out "chances to win" at seemingly non-existent websites.
VERY FRUSTRATING!
i dont want the readers disgest anymore i cant afford it please dont send me anymore thank you
i don"t want the readers digest anymore so please don't send it to me anymore ...thank you
What a rip off - it says just go to this site and enter your access code to see if u have won 1 of 5, 16gb ipod touches. Contest valid till may 31/2008 at midnight. No such site exists.
The card in my Readers Digest offers a free surprise gift at www.rd.com/surprise. There is NO surprise!
I was sent a letter in the mail with a cash payment pending free giveaway if I was to go online and enter my combination to this vault and the site could not even be found. I am not impressed!
Reader's Digest sent a contest form and on-line address: www.rd.ca/wii. An access code was given . The draw was to close August 31st @midnight(probably purposely do not mention a year).
It seems impossible to find this address or anything about it. There is a mention of an old similar contest for November 2007.
I fully understand and totally agree with your comments as I also received and tried to locate the website Reader's Digest provided. I beginning to think every Reader's Digest contest, give-away or other "promotions" are pure gimmicks.
Received my invitiation to enter 15/07/08. Can't enter. What do they hope to gain by this? Certainly not my appreciation!
I think this is false advertising and fraud. Reader's Digest shouldn't be allowed to get away with this!
I received my entre for the wii with my august reader digest, it stated the draw closes august 31st, so it couldnt be from 2007, whats going on ?how come we cannot enter.
Reader fix this screw up right now.
I always seem to have a bad experience when entering contests online. Now Reader's Digest's win a nintendo Wii Sports game contest has been added to my BAD experiences. All I could find at the email address was a contest that ended last year! The info I was sent has a closing date of August 31.
Couldn't get on the site, I will not order fom Readers Digest again!
Very dissapointed with their service.
I have a complaint, they sent me a new one site is this www.rd.ca/ssvault. There is no site for this one either.I to am having second thoughts about readers digest.
For months the Readers Digest has been advertising contests where prizes can be won. When you attempt to gain access to the site to register there is nothing available. This is irresponsible and fraudulent exploitation. I did not think that such a household named magazine could stoop so low.
Also got intry # 27579 to enter Nintendo wii sports game could not find site to enter i also think all there prizes are lead ons
They sent me a ballot to check if i won theres not even website, why would they do that when i send them a check for books i make sure the money is there don't treat people like fools.
Impossible to enter the access code . This is a gimmick and bad for Readers reputation. It is not the firest time.
I tried the web site given, www.rd.ca/wii which I can not recieve on my computer.
i will never renew my supscription or ever ever enter another readers digest contest again, they are phoney as hell.
Inserted into our last Readers Digest Magazine, was a book mark sized card telling us we could win a Nintendo Wii by e-mailing: www.rd.ca/wii and enter that 5 digit access code on the card to see if we win the Nintendo Wii. However, there is no such address on the internet.
It is these types of marketing scams leave me more and more disgusted and even more so now, that Readers Digest has now stepped into this "way of doing business" with its subscribers. Unless RD makes amends to us, the subscribers, I will be canceling my subscription and will not be renewing any time soon.
R.D. MAKE AMMENDS TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.
I too am sick and tired of the envelopes of contest forms that you have to fill out and nothing is ever awarded. I also feel that it is just a scam in order for people to keep buying the magazine, count me out from now on.
every time we get notifacation of different contests and website to go to it is a crock. as a long time customer i am beginning to realize the only thing that matters to you is taking my money for your gain not coming through with what you claim about all these contests. maybe it is time you got your act together. a disgruntled customer. by the way each year the cost for rd goes up and it gets smaller with less content!
Yup, I am not happy with Reader's Digest. I believe this to be a form of dishonest advertising. Regardless of intent, I personally find an offer to enter a non-existant content offensive.
Got access code from new readers digest Whats going on?
This is not the first time I have rec'd some "contest" entry item from one of the many of RD's promotional mailings. kWhile I truly enjoy my subscription I am sick of being bombarded with crap that starts off looking intriguing only to turn out to be some twisted ploy to sign you up to yet another associated subscription...they need to stop acting like the NATIONAL ENQUIRER and show some respect for their subscribers.
Readers Digest is about as low as it can get. I have been getting their books for years, but now I am fed up with their phoney contests and underhanded ways.
We have been subscribers to Readers Digest for over 25-30 years and have faithfully entered all of their contests. To date we have won absolutely nothing.
That in and of itself, is bad enough but to be given false information regarding a contest that does not exist is pretty much the last straw.
We are seriously considering cancelling all future dealings with this company.
Bill & Joan Russell
my combination is 84678
I won WOW
ditto! what a sham.
I've been a customer fof many years...This is a crying shame!
R.D., I thought, was a respectable company. I no longer am
convinced of that!
Get smart R.D., and register me now!
I just want to cancel my book subscripetion and get a return label . Can you help me?
Where do you sign in for the free gift listed on the card that came with my subscription. Is this just a scam.
These clowns keep sending me entry forms to win something on line There is never a place to enter . They have received my LAST subscription because they are driving me and other people crazy. As far as I am concerned they should not be allowed any space at all on any website.
I received book---blue heaven--0n 07-15-08. I wrote RETURN TO SENDER ON PACKEG. and mailed back at post office. I keep getting past due notices. I DO NOT WANT ANY MORE BOOKS.PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS CLEARED.
You are right! I don't see anything for a free gift card as well. I will not be sending any more money either. Readers Digest is full of it!
I have been receiving bills, now past, due from Readers Digest and I owe them nothing because I am not a subscriber to the magazine nor do I have one copy of it. There is no phone number on the bill to call and rectify the situation. How do I contact them to demand that they stop billing me?
