I live in Colorado Springs, CO On June 21st, the area I live in had a significant hail storm. Due to the storm, I had significant damage to my roof, window trim, siding, and patio. I filed a claim on July 6th, set an appointment with an adjuster, and met with the adjuster the following week. The adjuster provided his estimate and a check was cut by July 19th. Since this date, I have had difficulties in getting questions answered and an update on the status of the claim. The first adjuster responded relatively quickly. He performed a quick assessment, the paperwork, and a check was received. I immediately had questions on the estimate and felt it was incomplete. I met with several roofers and general contractors they all confirmed my concerns about the estimate.
For nearly the past 3 months, I have not had any updates, or any questions answered. The only communication I have received or updates on the claim page has been the constant transferring of the claim to another claims adjuster.
I don't believe my requests an update have been unreasonable or persistent. I had noted early on that the personal property damage list was incomplete and let the claims adjuster at the time know the missing items. I also updated the list on the claims page on Aug 16th. I have yet to receive acknowledgement on that part of the claim.
Many roofers and contractors in Colorado Springs do not want to work with SafeCo policy holders due to the poor and slow communication. Those who are willing to work with SafeCo will not schedule the repairs until the supplements are approved and complete. I submitted my supplements to SafeCo on September 18th.
I have also informed the previous adjusters that several of my windows are leaking when it rains. This is potentially causing additional damage to my hardwood floor and window casing. This will result in more damage, more supplements, and more delays.
I have requested additional updates on September 29th, October 9th, and October 11th. Unfortunately, no response or acknowledgement.
Desired outcome: I hope to get a response on the status of my claim and an expedited approval of the supplement. I would like to get the work needed scheduled before the first snow storm and before more damage occurs to my property.
