I have been a Spectrum Company internet provider customer since February 2021. I have a document issued by Spectrum that shows that their monthly charges are $49.99, which include “$25.00/mo discount applied Ends 24 months after activation”, which means that, according to their promise and our provider-customer agreement, my monthly payment of $49.99 must stay the same until February, 2023. However, in February, 2022, the Spectrum billed me $64.99. When I called to their customer service to tell them about this mistake (as I assumed) and to ask Why? The Spectrum operator said that that is their new billing price and that will stay. She said that their billing system had changed and she did NOT want to answer any of my questions, even refused to listen to me; she was very rude and hung up on me. Then, I tried to contact the Spectrum customer service in Chat from my account page on their website. Their operator checked my account and confirmed:

“I am seeing the 20 dollar discount ending in 2024 and it looks like in November for some reason the end date for your 25 dollar discount changed to 2022, from 2023. I am going to get a supervisors assistance, one moment please. “

In fact, I did NOT get any answer or explanation. I was waiting and waiting; no one got in touch to explain what made them change the promised monthly price, and they just cut me off the chat.

I tried and contacted them in chat again on February 17, 2022. This time the operator said that they had changed the billing system, and the promo fell off by mistake. This customer service operator gave me a case ticket #[protected] and promised that in 3 – 5 business days the mistake would be corrected.

I kept checking every day. Nothing had been corrected. The charge of &64.99 (instead of $49.99) stayed their; the payment is due March 5, 2022; and of course, with all the threats to charge me even more if I do not pay on time. I never delayed my payments; I always pay earlier. On March 3, 2022, (2 weeks after my previous call, meaning I waited for their actions even longer than their promised 3 – 5 business days!), I connected Spectrum in chat again. This time, their customer service operator (she introduced herself Teresa) checked my account, found the ticket #[protected], and suggested to call [protected] and said that I was not supposed to wait 3 – 5 days. This must be a matter of minutes. She said:

“When you explain to them that the promo fell off due to a system migrate they should be able to put it back on “

I called the number she suggested. They promised to correct the mistake in their system. Today is already March 5, 2022 – the last day my payment is due, - NO changes on the webpage! They are still charging me that wrong amount of $64,99, instead of $49.99! I am NOT going to pay extra charges, and I am NOT paying the penalty charges that are posed on me by the Spectrum system web due to their mistake! By the way: they are an Internet company who cannot maintain even their webpage! OR it seems like they are lying to their customers on purpose: just cheating to gain more money from their current customers. And their customer service is really rude and mean. Even if their prices and conditions may have changed for new customers, they cannot break their promises to their old customers to maintain the monthly price, in my case $49.99, until February 2023. They cannot charge me more, especially on the reason they cannot maintain the changes in their new software.

Desired outcome: I expect Spectrum to correct their mistake and keep their originally agreed monthly charge of $49.99 until the originally promised date February 2023.

Canceled service on August 12th (called on August 5th, 2022. Not only did they not mention that it would be better to cancel before the 7th, fully knowing, I would get charged an additional month).

Pre-Paid from August 7th to Sept 7th on August 2nd, 2022. Got another bill for Sept 7th - October 7th and having to pay for a full month of service because I did not cancel before August 7th. This is consumer rip-off to the max. Not only are you paying in advance, you get charged for a month of service that you don't use because the cancellation was mid-cycle of the current billing.

If I canceled my service on Sept 7th, I would understand, not pro-rating the current month. But cancelling mid-cycle and already having that month paid and getting billed for an additional month.. WTF?

If anyone is filing a class action lawsuit, I would like to be a part of this.

Wow! I was billed the same a.ount in Feb 2023, plus they billed me for all of January. I started service mid January. They also sent equipment I told them Not to send. Id picked up the equipment in their store already. I received the first bill in mid February, w threats of discontinuing service. I called re all of the errors in billing and got a different story than you, but just the same, lies as pertains to their initial service offer and agreement. Further, it promised something re to cell phone service, yet they claimed afterwards, I had to be a customer for internet x amount of time for this promo... According to the emails & reps, this wasn't the case at the onset. Everyone there says something different. I'm not paying for non service days, nor $20 extra for who knows what. I'll go w a different service if necessary.

Spectrum mobile deactivated my account due to nonpayment wouldn't reason with me for my child who was 12 was stabbed multiple times I was going to be late on my payment. They deactivated my account n did a unauthorized payment n changed my bank account almost $1000 was $909 to be exact. I tried the chat n calling filed a claim with my bank the lady in the chat said my claim thru the bank may deny them but they will continue to charge my account to get the money I took a screen shot of that as well as the link she sent me when I asked where it said in the fine print that if SPECTRUM deactivates your account they can take whatever they want the link repeatedly opened a page not found message got a screen recording of that as well. I pleaded with the reps on the phone due to I am a single mother of 5 n that literally wiped my account clean the day b4 a holiday n literally 40 minutes after my paycheck was deposited at 414AM like they were watching my account for a deposit still nothing got more of a "not my problem" response

Spectrum is horrible! I do have the connectivity affordability program right now bc I am single mom. I have been with spectrum since August 2022. My bill should only be $4.99 bc of the program I am on. My first bill was $83.92! I called and they treat you with no respect at all! They said oh you ordered the tv channel the this and that I was so mad because I did not order none of that oh plus they charged me for routers and equipment I never ordered or received. Now here we are in July 2023 and my bills have been ranging from $24.99-$326.00 and every time I call about this, they act like It's my fault! They say well you ordered such and such I said no i did not order any of that! Well, mam if you didn't order it then it would not be on your bill. OMG this place is the WORST! They LIE & OVERCHARGE! So, here I am today still being charged these outrageous charges and still fighting with them and still not getting anywhere! Well, same thing with my cell phone service with them. I should only pay for cell phone $24.99, and the price changes every month. I hate spectrum and will never use them again nor will I EVER recommend!

I went from 3 months ago only owing $19, 1 month later $129, now on the 3rd month of this crap, they say I owe $158- I am suing these mother f*kers and ALL OF YOU should sue them too- Spectrum is in the DOGHOUSE with NY STATE and u WILL win your case so SUE THEM! fight back against these thieves stealing your money!

take them to small claims court they always settle out of court and will give you the amount u ask for ($5,000 max) FIGHT BACK EVERYONE!

Recently going through the same thing. I paid my bill at the beginning of this month and they are claiming that I did not pay it despite having proof that I did. I had sent them the money order right at the beginning of the month to just over 200.00 and now they are trying to charge me for this month and next month despite the fact that there should be credit on the account as I only pay 25.00 for my internet and they have been doubling and tripling my bill since the end of last year.
