To Whom it may concern:

A little while back in a letter to the CEO and customer service Dept. of Sprit Airlines I made a promise to excercise my free speech and tell everyone whom I came in contact with my very unsavory experience with Spirit Airlines.

A few months ago I was taking my annual vacation in a major U.S. city. On the day of my return trip I received a message on my voice mail regarding a change in my return flight home. I immediately called and was routed to an overseas gentleman who looked up my booking information. He told me that instead of leaving Monday night I would have to leave Tuesday afternoon due to the use of a different aircraft. I told him that I had to be home for Tuesday morning to take my Mom to a doctors appointment. I was told that either I could get my money back or fly home Tuesday. It was imperitive for me to be home for Tuesday morning so I then hung up and called a competitor of Spirit's. I booked a ticket to get me home Monday night at an additional expense of $ 300.00. I then called Spirit back to get a refund and for what I though would be some compensation for the inconvenience and added expense. The overseas agent said you will have to check at the airport and they will compensate you there. I went to the airport prior to the competitors flight and the Sprit supervisor directed me to the website to file a complaint with Spirit. Please note that my original Spirit flight did indeed leave at the time it was suposed to.

When I got home I very politely crafted an e-mail to customer service requesting a travel voucher for a free flight or $ 300 for my experience and added expense. A few days later I received a firm response that said there was no merrit to my complaint and that since I requested a full refund that I was owed nothing.

My last plea was sent to Spirit Customer Service and it's CEO explaining what had transpired. Again I receved a very curt response stating that all complaints had no merrit and that any other correspondence would not be answered.

In my last hand written correspondence to Spirit Customer service and the CEO I explained to them again my experience, views, and that if they rectified the situation I would be willing to personally try Spirit again. In addition I explained in detail my position in a fortune 1, 000 Company based in the Northeast. My title: Seminar Travel Coordinator. Guess what? I have complete lattitude in most circumstances to select the Airlines that we use. I would say that I book between 50-100 tickets per week. To date I have not received a response. Guess which airline we no longer use?

I would like to address the first two posts at one time. Back in the day when the customer was king airlines would give free ticket vouchers that actually worked. For an airline that offers 9$ fares I estimate that since they did not offer me some kind of "courtesy" I have cost them at least 100 round trip bookings. This is not about $300 and oh I am do broke I need the money - this is about pincipal and how nasty I was treated. Seriously, our company charges thousands of dollars for seminars and how can I trust spirit not to bump one one of our lectures? This experience and others I have read tells me how dangerous Spirit Airlines is. How come I have never ever had a problem other than being a little late any other time I have flown? My mission is to let everyone who will listen to A. What Spirit does to travelers and B. That they don't compensate for inconvenience. and C. They are nasty about and have a bunch of Indians that are taking American jobs.

It looks like my post has taken on a life of it's own. I guess that is good because the more people sho see what happened to me the better. I'd like to clarify some things as there seem to be "questions" in some of the comments.

Fact: I was told that I had no ch0ice but to fly out the next day due to an "equiptment change".
Fact: I was told that I could either have a full refund or fly the next day.
Fact: I requested my money back and spent an extra 300 to get home for family matters.
Fact: My original flight on Spirit departed on time with what I assume was a smaller plane.
Fact: Sprit tells me that I have no recourse because I requested a full refund.
Fact: Due to the poor treatment / no compensation I promised the CEO I would make them lose business.
Fact: I estimate that I cost Spirit thousands of dollars in revenue.
Fact: I am going to continue to publicize what Spirit did to me.
Fact: The customer is not king in Spirit's business model and the world needs to know it.

I do not but the voice mail simply said. "please call us as soon as possible about a change in your itinerary". Had I recoreded the phone call with the Indian I'd be breaking the law. I just feel like a bait and switch and they were hoping I would ask for a refund. In hindsite the thing to do would have been to show up at the airport and demand my flight and document.

No big deal. This is just to let the public know how terrible Spirit Airlines is.

Yes and even better news. A group of 6 associates were planning a last minute trip for the holidays to attend a bachelor party leaving from and arriving to a city pair that both Spirit and Jet Blue services direct. I directed my friends to read this thread and guess what? They had their "finger on the button" to fly with spirit and then changed course. For 10$ more each way they got a bigger seat and free video on the ride. It really made my day to direct the 1500$ in revenue to an airline that deserves it. Dear Mr. Ben Baldanza (Spirit CEO) I give you my word that this is only the beginning. Sometimes learning a lesson has to hurt!

Just because the "haters" on this site did not get a puppy when they were youngsters does that mean they can be nasty. The point is what Spirit did and what WILL happen to the organization hell or high water what they did to me. There is no doubt that the Spirit CEO takes hit hight maintenance wife to New York to shop at Barneys on Madison. But does he does realize if that 666 madison ave. is right next door?

Avout a year ago I enrolled in the introductory $9.00 promotion that Spirit Airlines advertised. It did not work out for me and I CANCELED the membership. Loh and behold I get my statement for ausut and there is a $39.95 charge for Club Spirit Promotion. I called them and they informed me that I must go on line and click on the "Help" button for redress. I could not find a "Help" button. The customer service rep advised that there is no phone number for internet querry. What a fraud.

I am experiencing the same thing right now. I kept answering their e mails and they finally told me their decision was final and they would no longer correspond with me. I have no contacted them again today giving it another shot. After reading all these comments, I apparently do not have a shot at getting a refund from them. They have terrible customer service. I will not fly on their airlines again.

I flew to costa rica with my wife and daughter via Spirit Air in 2011. I paid $1600 for three round trip tickets. I had to pay an additional $300 for our BAGS! WTF! I could have bought another airline ticket for that price! They charge you $30/ea. for a carry on bag! In addition you still have to pay for your snack/soda...nothing all inclusive on this airline! The bathrooms in the front of the plane were out of order and the noise on the plane on take off and landing was obnoxious and unsettling...never heard anything like it before and I fly alot. I had heard stories about Spirit prior to booking but booked anyway for the low fare and figuring it was an isolated incident and wouldn't happen to me, but it did. I would not ever fly this airline again...I'd rather pay more somewhere else! - Pissed off in CT

Nowhere does it say whether you got the refund or not. Are you asking for further reimbursement based on your inconvenience? If so, I would say that has very little merit too.

Joe, nothing is wrong with basing your decisions on your knowledge based on personal experiences. If you had a bad experience with Spirit they will likely do the same to the company employees for whom you book. I think you are entitled to a full refund including the $300 if this was the difference between the fare you paid to Spirit and the other airline. You were effectively bumped from your flight and I think DOT's regulations call for $400 compensation. As an aside, never mind these posters especially the one named Ellen. She is the leader of a cybergang, registered under several different names, and engages in cyberbullying using multiple accounts to make persons making complaints feel that public opinion is against them, and go away without a remedy.

The OP said this:
"My title: Seminar Travel Coordinator. Guess what? I have complete lattitude in most circumstances to select the Airlines that we use."
This is why there is something called "Management" so that the CEO or the owner doesn't have to be consulted on decisions like these. I can't see anything that could possibly be called blackmail here.
TO Joe: I've looked at several threads and these two are two of the cyberbully gang led by the Ellen person. It doesn't seem to deter them that their reasoning lacks logic. Look out for more of the gang to come on to agree with them. You will see things like
"Hugs Brenda"
"Lol Jazzcat"
"I love your posts Brenda"
That's the signal that you are up against a cyberbully gang.

Ellen, what rubbish, you stupid dog! There are just some people who you can't cyberbully or address any of your questions. I'm one of there, and maybe there are others, you ninny.

Dont hijack the thread with your stupid questions, you dolt!. Address the OP's concern. Is he not entitled to use his personal experience to make his decisions involving his choice of carrier for the company? If not, WHY NOT? See if you and your fellow bullies can get together to answer that. Strange how you all came to the same nonsensical conclusions

Bob and FFD look like a bunch of ###s. I dont think you humiliated Ellen67. She should have just ignored you a long time ago. Your posts look like you are ### of the chum bucket. Those two look like they are trying to start a fight. And from what i read, she told you! But without needing nasty language. So what is it, you two ### bullies: you can only pick on someone who doesnt fight dirty? Cmon, start a fight with me, or Here, or Archer. I can see they wont take your ###. And see what you get. I dont know if FFD is a man or not, but by the name, Bob is a male. But not a man. Douchbag, you can have an argument with a female without talking like that.
So far, this is the only post i have found that has such stupid comments a out another person. Sounds like grade school bullies. Go suck each other and share a disease.

Piece of turd, i am not a woman ( and the women i know have manners, so they should be treated i kind), so I will tell you are an ###. Go ### FFD, since she is the kind of woman you are used to. According to her profile, the picture is female. She seems to be your groupie. She only comments on your comments and defends you. Or maybe she is you then she is has you in her fist. Go jerk off.

Big baby has to pick on how i choose to spell my name. What loser. Cant you do better? My son is in 7th grade and he outgrew the vomit you spew called vocabulary. Tell your girlfriend to take off her strap on. I mean your dog. And tell her i am sorry to disappoint her. Maybe you should strap it on so she finally gets a good lay.

###, you won just like Charlie Sheen was winning. What a ### you are. When i read the posts, it looks like she just took the advice of another commenter and isnt talking to you. Your ego, like another poster said, is so small that you need to feel important on this website. By either faking your professional knowledge or by talking like ### to women and other people on the board. What, mommy wouldnt let you suck her boob when you were a baby or maybe she let you suck it for fun. I didnt come on this website to get my kicks by being a dick like you. So if i choose to stop talking to you, i did it because i plan to comment on the complaints, not play with a ### like you. And that is not winning, Charlie.

I've never flown Spirit Airlines... the reason... too many bad reviews... bait and switch prices on their website and the crappy Dateline NBC special that showed how cheap the company was and how crammed the spaces were on the plane. More like Lack of Spirit Airlines.
