Eat at steak an shake in Alton llinois on8/20/18. ( might add I have been eating in steak an shake sense the 1950) ALOT. I had a single burger that was about the size of a silver dollar. Frys were terrible and the Chile no ways near the good Chile I have been use to. The last couple trips to your restaurants the burgers are so small it's unbelievable. I think you are about to loose a live long customer and, I always loved steak an shake. Freddie's how has burgers like steak an shake use to. They are now my go to for burgers
poor service/ watery milkshakes
I wanted to give Steak N Shake another try. We ordered our food and service was okay. After we finished I ordered 4 shakes to go. It was Peanut butter, oreo and 2 m &m's shakes. While we waited for the shakes to come out they took forever at least 15 minutes maybe longer and all of the workers seemed to be standing around and finally someone came over and asked if we needed anything and i told them i had been waiting for shakes. They went to check and a few minutes later came back and said they are almost ready. The shakes came out no one apologized to us for the wait. We got in the car and drove away. Noticed the shakes were watery like they had been sitting for a long time. i was disappointed and so was my family. I won't be going back.

I went to the Steak n Shake, No:146, I was rushed to cash out, just as I received my meal, (usually they cash me out at the end) waitress stated "So, you are my last table, I am going to go ahead and cash you out, I'm really tired and I want to go home." Employee seemed to only care for our money and not the customers, I found that is poor customer service.

My family visited the Steak N Shake at Easton Town Center in Columbus Ohio at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. I was not given a receipt, as we watched the girl at the window wad it up and throw it away, without asking if we wanted it! It took 30 minutes to get our milkshakes.
First off when we got to the order window, the girl that took our order was very rude and you couldn't hear or understand what she was saying!
Second, by the time we got to the pickup window, we were not greeted for approximately, 5 minutes, we had to say excuse me about 5 times to get someones attention, while we watched about 4 other people walk by the window and just look at us. NO SENSE OF GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE. We could see the girl just standing there, doing nothing. When we got her attention, she just started making our shakes at that time. We asked to speak to the manager, and he was as rude as she was, even worse. We are the customer, and he was out of line, the way he talked to us. We did not see one person thru the window hustling to get things done.
Third, our milkshakes tasted nothing like they should have. One of the milkshakes was super grainy and it hurt your throat to drink it. Another one had NO flavor at all.
Something is very wrong here and should be looked at. If you go on facebook, and check the responses to the posts at this location, it is very very bad.
I spent almost $13.00 here and would like my money returned.
Thank you for your time, I hope things changed at this location. We will not be returning there, and it sounds like a lot of people feel the same way!
dirty environment terrible service
This evening my family of 6 decided to go to Steak N Shake. As we walked in we noticed that most of the tables were full of dirty plates and garbage. It took the host a few minutes to figure out what table to seat us at since 90% of the tables haven't been cleared. After being seated at a table the waitress didn't stop by for another 12-15 minutes. We finally ordered and after taking another 30 minutes plus, to get our food, we noticed that the food wasn't very warm. The buns to the hamburgers were crumbling like they were stale. While this was going on the place wasn't busy but yet none of the tables we noticed earlier were being cleaned. More people were coming in and there was literally no where to sit cause of this. Kinda gross sitting around tables full of garbage. Not impressed at all. So after we ate we sat there another 30 minutes waiting for the bill...never came. We got up and walked to the register. Took another 10 minutes to cash out cause the computer crashed.. Worst experience ever at a Steak N Shake.

drive through
I have never in my life been told that I would have to wait five minutes in a drive through just to have my order taken. They claimed to be backed up but there were very few cars in the parking lot and none in the drive through. If the individual running the drive through had time to tell me it would be 5minutes before I could order than why did he not have time to actually take my order? Drive throughs are meant to be quick and efficient and this establishments drive through did not contain either of these qualities. Poor management of time and staff.
I guess it's hard to understand the food is made to order and it's a restaurant with a drive thru. Not a fast food drive thru. Simple misunderstanding from someone whose unintelligible in the topic.
long wait at drive thru and cold food
im writing about Jackson Mi Airport rd store.
i had to wait over 10 min after i ordered at the window for my food and as usual it was cold. This happens often. The lady at the window is never nice, The last 2 times we got banana shakes they had a few nuts and chocolate pieces in them glad no one is allergic. I could go on but you get the idea. Also no receipt. i arrived today at 1:45
my order today was one all american burger one swiss mushroom burger med fries.

i think the whole store needs spoken to and maybe some coupons to help me.

We tried to take our family to the Steak and Shake at 6019 Illinois Rd, Ft. Wayne, IN 46804 after church today around 1:15 pm. In the door was a handwritten sign stating "LONG wait for service, we are short staffed". That was ridiculous to have a handwritten sign on door stating that and to have no extra help to call in for a weekend to generate funds for your company. That seems to be very poor management. We took our business elsewhere.

drive-thru service
I have had issues with this location almost every trip. I work 3rd shift and often stop by on my way to work. The drive-thru is often shut down with a dumpster blocking the entrance. Or if they are open the menu lights are often turned off. I never get a receipt with my order only a slip of paper with what I ordered but no prices. Last night I visited and was told that drinks DO NOT come with the combo meals even though they are pictured with a meal and a drink on the menu. I was charged sepearate for everything almost costing $20. Is that true?

I ordered the double bacon cheese steak burger, no onion and no bun. They made my order completely wrong and when I tried to call up there to get something resolved he said all he could do was have me drive back up there (mind you it's 3 in the morning) and remake it. I asked for in store credit. He said all he could do was remake it. I am not a very happy customer.

We have visited the store on McGalliard in Muncie twice this week both were bad experiences. On 8/14/18 we stopped for dinner around 8pm, it was busy but not horribly so. Our waitress was great & as she brought refills, she apologized for the wait for our food due to the short staffed kitchen. After 45 minutes we get our food & was served a cold sandwich that our waitress immediately took back & made right for us. As we were ending our meal, we ordered a shake to go & went ahead & paid our ticket after about 10 minutes. Finally after 15 minutes we decided to ask for our money back on the shake & leave, it wasn't worth the wait. After waiting on the manager over 5 minutes to come to the register we decided to leave without the shake & refund. The waitresses all seemed very stressed but remained pleasant as the manager, Shawn, kept yelling for them to go up front & take care of customers paying bills because he was too busy. So today we decided to give it another shot because our son still wanted the shake he never got. He went inside & ordered it to go...20 minutes later when he asked for his money back, they produced the shake & told him it's just busy here today. Ridiculous management! I am a successful business owner for many years & if my business or management ran this way we would lose business. I try to not complain because being on the other end I understand there are sometimes things out of your control & pleasing the public is a difficult task but there have been many problems at this location recently that we have just ignored. I will not be returning to this location & have shared this experience with others. I doubt changes will happen because this is the only Steak & shake in a 30 mile radius & a college town but I think this store needs attention!

My name is DeElma Corley. I am the mother of Gerald Corley Jr. and Gerale Corley. They have worked at Steak and Shake North Lindbergh in St. Louis MO since May 30, 2018. This was their first job and they both worked 8 hour shifts, 40 hours a week. Within this time frame they have worked without taking breaks, worked when it was just them and only the manager Ms. T or Savannah causing for the whole store to be closed for hours out of the day because of not enough workers. The general manager has made several visits to this location because of th many issues that have taken place. Gerald being the main grill man and Gerale working multiple stations including drive through have dedicated their Summer to working and earning pay checks. These young men have worked very hard and have been talked to and mistreated by their managers and still continued to come in. Gerald has received many compliments and tips from the customers stating that he is the best grill man and when he makes the burgers they are great. The general manager has even complimented him on his work and said that he was management material. With all this being said, I asked both of my sons to have a conversation with the manager about their hours two weeks prior to returning back to school. They requested to only work Saturdays and Sundays starting the week school starts. This didn't seem to be too much of an issue, but I also called to speak to the manager Ms. T to make sure there wouldn't be any issues because their education is very important. This is Gerald's senior year in high school and Gerale is a junior. When I spoke to Ms. T she said I scheduled them on the weekends but she also was going to schedule them a few days out of the week. I explained to her that this would not be a good idea because they both need to be focused and Gerale plays sports which requires him to stay after school and has games on Fridays. She agreed to only schedule them both only on the weekends. Today Gerald returned back to work and entered into an environment he felt he did not belong. He was already replaced and told that they didn't believe that he no longer worked there. Ms. T the manager said that she needed to talk to him when another employee arrived. He asked her why and she said you were supposed to be he Monday and Tuesday, and because you didnt, you were written up. He explained to her that he and I had a conversation with her about his schedule and that she agreed to only scheduling that. She also stated that he was written up for something else also, but Gerald did not receive a phone call or ever told about being written up before. Gerald was so upset that he walked out. He called me to explain what happened, and I went to the job. When arrived to the job, I asked to speak to Ms. T. I had a conversation with her about Gerald being written up. Her explanation of why she wrote him up was because he should have at worked on Monday and Tuesday. I reminded her of the conversation she had with both of my sons and I about the days and hours that they can work returning back to school. She said, I thought it was OK to schedule them because she knew that their school started on Wednesday and she thought that they could work. This is unacceptable. Both young men have worked so hard all summer that they wanted a little break before returning to school to prepare and get things that they needed before school started. For her to just schedule them anyway without them knowing is wrong. I told her that I was contacting corporate about her behavior and that how she treated my sons knowing this was their first job. Ms. T and Savannah has taken full advantage of my sons knowing that they are not aware of things that should or should not happen on the job. Before I told them to speak up about asking for a break, they would work standing 8 hour shifts over a hot grill, running back and forth to do multiple stations while Ms. T would be on her phone and not helping until they ask her to. It is against the law to work, especially an 8 hour shift without a break. And then, several times myself and their father picking them up from work when they are supposed to be off and waiting for 30 minutes or more for them to get off after myself working a 9 hour shift ready to go home, but have to wait on them. There are countless times of me and Dad going into Steak and Shake and asking when are they getting off. I am very upset that either one of my sons would have to experience this type of work environment, with employees walking out even managers leaving them to have pick the pieces. Not only was this a place of employment, my family of six every week would dine in and eat prior to and after my sons worked there. Now, my family will no longer eat at any Steak and Shake. If this is the type of behavior the company allows, I will not support it. My son Gerald is in his last year of high school with only one semester to complete because he has enough credits to graduate early following attend college to become a game developer. Gerale is a junior and a full on athlete in Varsity Football, Varsity Basketball and Track and Field. Both have bright futures ahead of them and I will not allow anyone to diminish their character. On August 15, 2018 I was at the Steak and Shake (7485 Foltz Drive, Florence KY 41042) I arrived and was seated around 605pm I ordered a turkey club, fries and large sweet tea and my girlfriend ordered a Reese's peanut butter shake. The waitress brought my tea around 620pm which was unsweeten and she took it back and added sugar and syrup to it and bought it back it was sweet tea around 625pm the waitress bought my girlfriends shake to her. At 655pm I still have not received my turkey club and fries. We got up from the table and went to the cashier and I advised the manager that I have been inside for close to a hour and I ordered a sweet tea that was unsweeten, turkey club, fries and Reese's peanut butter shake and only thing that I received was the tea and shake. I heard the waitress tell the cook that he forgot a order and the waitress told him to forgot it because the people has left. The cashier/manager didn't charge me for the sweet tea or shake.
bogo coupon not honored
On August 13th. I received an email titled "Celebrate National Sandwich Month with Bogo Frisco Melt n Fries"
That same day I dined at your unit located on Cattlemen Road in Sarasota, FL. As instructed, I placed my order using your app. The server reported only one (1) sandwich appeared on the screen. She spoke to Eric Hamilton, the manager and he said just order another sandwich.
We did however we were charged for two (2) sandwiches.
Eric was at the checkout. He said he was not aware of the promotion and had not seen the email. He refused to credit me for one of the sandwiches. I am very disappointed as I dine at the unit on a weekly basis. I felt as though as I treated as an old man and brushed-off.

onion rings
Just returned from Steak and Shake. I ordered Chicken and Fries, upgrading to onion rings instead of the fries. I order onion rings frequently and have always found them to be hot and crispy. This time however they were barely warm and soggy, definitely not the quality I was expecting. I should mention that the chicken was hot and the coating was crisp-very good.

I drove thru. There was one car ahead of me that pulled off as I got to the window. I waited 20 minutes for 1 burger and 1 fry. As I waited I watched the guy make shakes instead of tending to my food. As I pulled off he didn't say anything to me but told someone in the drive through sorry for the wait...the staff was different than usual. The man at the window had no personality and just acted like customer service didn't matter. I was extremely disappointed and discouraged about the service and wait time for my little burger and fries.

Went to Steak and Shake on Miller Lane Dayton Ohio. 45424. Yesterday. Ordered cheeseburger no tomato. Pulled up to park and eat and when I bit in to burger it was so burnt I couldn't eat it. It was the size of a 50 cent piece on a big bun. It was cold even the meat. And all ripped up. Looked like someone had all ready eaten part of it.
I drove back through and the girl took the sandwich to a manager and he said. No you took a bite so you can't return it. I am a regular customer at this Steak and shake all the time. I was very insulted that they didn't make it right.
I just said said never mind and went to McDonald's Thought you needed to know. There was no one in front of me when I got the order and it came out right away. It had to be sitting somewhere when I pulled up. What happened to made to order.

Stopped at Steak n Shake on Southport Rd. close to I65 exit. I've eaten at other Steak n Shakes almost my entire life, very good food. I stopped at that particular one as I was getting on the interstate.
With absolutely no regrets, I must say it was the worst food I have ever tried to eat. The frisco melt was burnt & the bread was so stale, you had to rip a bite off & fries went along with it...mushy & cold.
I can honestly say that was the worst sandwich (2 bites) I have ever had, hands down. Unfortunately I was already on the road by then.
Summing it up...real crummy food.

My daughter and I have visitors Steak ‘n Shake ( zanesville Ohio) twice in the past 10 days. Both times we were not served. The first time was around midnight after we had just got done working all day painting her house. We sat in line for about 15-20 minutes, there was 3 cars in front of us. Finally we were the second car from the speaker and we sat and sat. Finally a lady came out of the restaurant and her exact words were "we are closing because we have ran out of everything!" HOW? HOW CAN YOU RUN OUT IF EVERYTHING!?!?
So we went to Wendy's drive through.
The second time we went, around 11:30 pm, same scenario, just got done from working all day. we got right up to the speaker, no waiting, only to find a sign that says " drive through closed!"
We certainly wasn't going to go in because we were grungy. So we went to Burger King drive through. We drive almost 25 minutes to get to Steak ‘n Shake and it is a real disappointment when we can't eat after a day of working. There are not many places open after midnight except Taco Bell and Burger King, which we had to drive 15 more minutes to get to.
This has happened to me a couple times when I was working at my job. I would get off at around 11:30 and stop at steak and shake and the drive through was closed due to a couple reason, one reason I remember was that they were cleaning the grills.
So needless to say, we have been disappointed several times. My daughter say she will never go to Steak ‘n Shake again. Me, I will probably try once more, after all you do have the best burgers ever.
