I went into td bank this morining with my son. He had an overdraft fee of $140. Oo. On account history it was a positive balance and showed no returns all for 4/8/13. The overdraft fee was dated 4/9/2013. Thought I had it resovled with the bank to 0 balance so we could close the account. He had one item pending so could not close the account this morning. Got a call from my son who went onto his account and there was another $175.00 over drafts fees listed with no new incoming debits. What they did was put the 4/9/2013 fee of $140. Oo paid first and then the pending amounts listed that was already taken care of and charged the $175.00 overdraft fee for them. They did drop the $175.00 charges.
This bank is a nightmare! I also had an incident with them when I opened a saving account. Got a call a few days later stating that they put a hold on my account because they did not have my street address. I would say that their employee did not do their job correctly when I opened the account. I do not requiremend this td bank to anyone!

@Stealth Pilot: Oh, and you know all about banking in Canada being from South Dakota? Sweetie, Saturday and Sunday are not processing days for banks here. When they ramp up on Monday morning, they do process the debits first and then the credits. TD is especially known for this. Had the bank processed the deposit first, the customer would have had no problem at all. But they don't do that.

Now, go put on your Junior Birdman goggles and play aeroplanes outside with the other kids. Here's a cookie to take with you. Don't forget a sweater.

@gkenigmatic - Auntie has never gamed a bank in her many years, dear. (Though, I have screwed up and overdrafted an account once or twice because I didn't enter something in my checkbook or, later, Quicken). Banks make untold millions with little gems like these. One of my boys works as a programmer for a major bank in Toronto. He's told me some interesting stories about how our banks work.

@Stealth Pilot - The other kids made fun of you didn't they? Try this on for size, puddin'. Little tiny fact that seems to be passing you by. They had the money. Deposited on Sunday. Did the complaintant make a mistake? You betcha. Should the deposit to cover the spending been done first thing Saturday? Yep. Should they have just used the cash to make purchases instead of their debit card? Yep.

[Auntie smacks your hand with a wooden spoon] And that's for being an idiot Internet troll. Play nice. No tea for you.

@gkenimatic - Auntie would love to hear the horror stories from the other side of the fence. Truth is a three-edged sword -- there's your side, their side and the truth. Send me a private with a couple.

@Stealth Pilot - And the debits don't debit until the next business day either. Go back and read my earlier comments, troll. It's pretty clear. And Auntie is now done with you.

I totally agree with you I had the same problem last year an I am tatally 100% will to file a class action suit with you. I had my attorney call his accountant an we met in his office to go over my account which I hold two accounts with them. I have a pending investigation going on with TD bank now. Also read today they police on online banking and do you know they are not responsible for our money if they is a computer malfucntion, or act of God as they put it, war, government. I think we are together and stop these banks from taking our money. An pleases people read your statement, their policies, an waivers and make sure your money is insures.

Hello fellow over drafters :)

Everyone has to agree that the Big Banks are F***ing as all around with the fees they charge! No one cares except us that get charged $35.00 per overdraft for something that computer takes care of in a split of a second!. $10.00 overdraft fee i would understand but those ### are screwing us with the smile on their faces from behind in the middle of the street while everyone is watching and unable to do anything about it. There is no changes coming! It is too big of a profit for them! The only thing they will do is educate us a bit about how to link a savings account to your checking account so when the overdraft happens money will be transferred from one account to the other! AND THERE IS A $5.00 fee for that also :) ###. Also they want you to get a credit card from them to just in case you have no savings account the overdraft will be pulled from the credit card which in turn if you do not pay on time will acquire an interest fee :) ATM fees and Fricking fees for checking and savings accounts those Mother Crackers charge now are beyond me... This was planned for a long time without us even knowing whats coming. Well it is here to stay or transform into other ways they can manipulate us into paying them more and more fees.

Wachovia is the worst from my point of view then Bank of America followed by TD Bank.

I did manage to find a bank that charges only $9 for overdraft fees and covers up to $200 if it happens so your bills get paid.

Well i wish you well and beware of not just the banks but all big companies as they all screwing as blindfolded.

All of you on here that are overdrawing your bank accounts are exactly what is wrong with this country! I used to work at TD Bank before they merged (and a few months afterward) and I've ALWAYS had people coming in sitting at my desk saying "Well, what had happened was...". Here's how it works, try to keep up: This bank is not a bad bank; they're simply operating the way banks operate. Even though many TD locations are open late, that doesn't mean your cash deposit is on that day's date. If it's Tuesday after, say around 5pm, your deposit is active as of Wednesday. Period, no ifs ands or buts about it. If you make a debit card purchase or put it on credit on Tuesday after the deposit then you're going to get what they call an Unavailable Funds Fee; this is different than a nonsufficient funds fee. You will still get charged the $35 for each and every transaction. USE CASH. The same goes for online payments; wait until Wednesday for it to officially post. It's not rocket science.

TD BANK IS NOT SMALL BUSINESS FRIENDLY! STAY AWAY!
THEY STEAL MONEY FROM YOU ACCOUNT CHARGING OVERDRAFT FEES ON YOUR DEBIT CARD.
THE MATH DOESNT MAKE SENSE...
IF I HAVE $100.00 IN MY ACCOUNT AND USE THE MY DEBIT TWICE TOTALLY $95.00
THAN A CHECK COMES IN OVERDRAWING MY ACCOUNT. THEY DONT CHARGE ME ONCE FOR THE CHECK THAT IS OVERDRAWN. THEY CHARGE ME 3 TIMES FOR THE TWO DEBIT CHARGES SAYING SINCE I KNEW THEIR WAS A CHECK COMING IN...I TECHNICALLY DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY! WHAT A JOKE!

Since TD Bank took over our local bank, Riverside Bank, I have accumulated hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees, monthly service charges etc. They haven't even been in town for two months yet. I am at my wits end and I will never ever ever bank with them again. My banking record was spotless prior to this and I refuse to pay these fees. Hell will freeze completely over by the time I do. My credit score is 819... some aren't so lucky. This is STEALING and the employees should walk out and not be part of this. Just another foreign financial institution coming in to rip off Americans in a way the feds support.

Americans need to wise up soon. Keep these foreign financial institutions from stealing our money, legislators. How about doing at least something while your filling a seat in Washington.

For those of you inquiring about a lawsuit and are interested in becoming a class member, there is a lawfirm working on putting a class action lawsuit together. The more complaints and proof the attorneys have, the better the chances are at winning a substantial amount. Substantial enough for TD Bank to improve their business practices. I just finished sending in my information to the Trief & Olk Law Firm.
There is also a website where the firm is retrieving complaints from Go to http://www.bank-overdraft.com/cases/td.htm

Here is what you should do to help your case:
1. Keep all receipts for your debit card transactions to support your actual date and time of transaction.

2. Print the daily transactions reports off of the website DAILY, EVERY SINGLE DAY (This REALLY shows how they are re-ordering transactions, if you could see mine you would shake your head! BIG TIME... I got these thieves GOOD). Stood banking with them just to do so! THATS RIGHT!

3. Print the pending transactions as well.

4. When complaining to TD Bank, rather than calling them - email them through the website for documentation and proof.
Hope this helps.

Sincerely, ANGRY CUSTOMER

A Hobby?
People need to ignore this Maggie person...
Printing activity and sticking it in an envelope takes 1-2 minutes of your time.
Documenting is always the smart thing to do!
AND
Last but not least, getting these banks to pay for their unfair practices is a good thing for everyone!
These banks need to stop clearing items in an order that benefits them and screws the consumer out of hard earned money. They also need to stop holding on Direct deposits. THIEVES!

You may be fooling others on this site but your definitely not fooling me. If Wells Fargo can pay, so can TD. It is not dollar signs that I see, rather a change. A change for individuals and hardworking familes who are victims of these unfair practices, financial institutions have put into place to benefit their bottom line. I am responsible and monitor my account day and night. The proof is in my documents, which provide a clear picture on how TD Bank manipulates/reorders transactions. And how cash deposits are even placed on hold after making the transaction at a teller before 1pm...

You know what you can go do with yourself, now don't you?

As with some of the other people on this website, I do have experienced overdraft fees. Apparantly there was something sent out somewhere around March or April regarding that they would cover this, if anyone is familiar with what happened in alot of the counties in New Jersey with massive flooding and state of emergency, well we were one of those families who were out of their home for 2 monhts and lost everything on the first level of home. So our biggest concern was getting our house back together and unless there was a bill our mail got backed up and we knew our account was fine. Needless to say in less than 2 weeks, this bank has charged us $735.00 in overdraft fees. We had no idea that the bank would continue to pay stuff. On top of this in the last 24 hours, someone got a hold of my debit card number and charged 153.26 to my account which were not our charges and yet we are going to get charged bank fees. I have begged and pleaded with this bank to work with us on these charges because when people are fighting every day to keep their jobs and surviving in an economy that is horrible, banks shouldn of all of a sudden decided we are going to pay everything no matter what...and charge people a ridiculous amount of money. Because of the charges and the fraud that went through, I don't have enough money to cover this since that is one of our paychecks for 2 weeks. They are inconsiderate and as far as their customer service commercial on tv it is bull they don't care and don't work with you at all and aren't human in anyway! And now it is going to take almost 7 days for anything to be done with the fraud charges and maybe we will get 70.00 back for those two transactions but it doesn't help any when there is still another 700.00 that they have of ours and my account is severly overdrawn because of these charges and when the debit transactions that they paid came in, the acct was a negative because of their fees, when the charges were done days prior when money was in the account. I am very disappointed in this bank and I hope that some that these people are in a situation where no one will work with them or understand and don't do anything about it and than maybe say hey maybe i should of been more christian like and helped people in a time of need.
