Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Oil Change

Got an oil change on my 2017 Range Rover Sport at the end of July, about two weeks ago my alternator failed. After having my truck towed to the dealership, they said my alternator failed because of oil from my oil filter having a poor seal. I filed a claim a few days and decided to call today for an update, they got me in contact with the female who completed my oil change who of course claims everything was done correct and closed my case. She said my alternator failed because of the age and mileage on my truck. The dealership had no reason to lie, and they also took photos.

Desired outcome: Pay for damages

Had my oil changed at Valvoline on Temecula pkwy in Temecula ca. upon driving home i heard a loud scraping noise so i got out and looked under my car to see the skid cover which is aluminum hanging down and scraping the ground i took my Honda 2020 civic back to the Valvoline and the person said oh i saw the skid plate hanging down when you drove in yet there is no way he could have seeing that you literally have to get on the ground to see under the car because they are built to sit low. So, he went under and said the plastic covering that the plate attaches to was cracked and broke but not from them but from me lol. The car is in new condition and is babied always but yeah ok. So, as a courtesy he would remove the skid plate and put it in my trunk and if i bought the parts and brought them to him he would be glad to fix it for me. Umm yeah, no thanks i will not let Valvoline or their employees touch another one of my cars again. And as an added bonus for my 100.00-dollar oil change I get to go to the Honda dealer and have them fix the mess that they made of my car.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Oil not put in car during oil change

09/3/2022 - took car to Valvoline to have oil changed.

9/7/2022 - car ran hot on way home from work. Car was checked no oil was in car. Added 3 quarts. Drove car the next day, car still running hot.

9/8/2022 - spoke with Walter at Valvoline. Was told the camera footage had to be pulled to see what was done on the day car was brought in for oil change. 9/10/2022 - went back to Valvoline to see if footage was pulled from camera and to also inform Walter the car keeps running hot and car has not been driven since 9/8/2022. Walter stated footage had not been pulled and he wouldn't have access to it until Tuesday (9/13)

9/11/2022 - upon further investigation realized there is a crack in the engine. Engine has to be replaced.

9/13/2022 - went to Valvoline to view footage with Walter. According to Walter, the video would not play but his manager had access to it and viewed the video and stated it showed Walter with a container in his hand pouring substance into car engine. A text was received from Walter later that afternoon stating "because he could not get the video to play on his end he sent me these still shots" - assuming the person that sent the shots was the person that had access to the footage. Walter sent me 4 picture stills, three pics were of someone else pouring a substance in to the engine and one was of Walter examining the dipstick. It does not look like the person is pouring oil in the car, he is not pouring it where the oil goes. Walter was asked for the number to corporate and he gave it reluctantly.

9/15/2022 - call was made to the number Walter gave, which was to custimer care. Explained the situation to them and was told we have not been able to view the video footage to see if oil was placed in the car on 9/3/2022. Was told by customer care that someone would be contacting me within 24 hours from the Valvoline shop. Have not received any type of communication.

9/17/2022 - called customer care again and spoke with Kendra. She started a claim and she was informed of how frustrating this situation is and how we fel like we are being given the runaround and that we would be seeking legal representation. Once a lawyer was found we would be calling back with that information. In the meantime, was advised to contact the Better Business Bureau.

The car was driven by my daughter who is a student in college, UNC-Greensboro. She lives off campus and works and therefore needs her car. It was gifted to her in 2018 as a birthday gift and we have not had any issues with the car other than replacing the battery. It was running perfectly fine the day she took it to Valvoline to have the oil change since she was visiting that Labor Day weekend. We normally take it some other place but they were closed that particular Saturday. There were no oil leaks, oil would have leaked in the driveway when she came home after the oil change and there was no oil leak the night the car initially ran hot. I recall my daughter telling me they did not reset her oil indicator because it was still on. I relayed this information to Walter as well and he stated it was just an indicator light and really didn't mean anything.

As stated she is a college student and needs her car, we are currently trying to find a motor. It seems this may be the quickest way to get her moving again. We informed Walter this was what we were going to do but we would also pursue this further and seek to be compensated for everything.

Desired outcome: To be compensated for engine, labor, and time without vehicle or they find/pay for the engine and a reputable shop to put engine in and time without a vehicle.

I am Sandra Williams. I had my oil change on 09/14/2022 at Valvoline Instant Oil Change - Kings Hwy, Shreveport, LA. I kept smelling something burning. My friend checked under my hood 09/21/2022. As he lifted the hood, the cap from the oil dispenser fell in his hand! And OIL WAS ALL OVER THE TOP OF THE DISPENSER. AND OIL WAS ALL OVER THE MOTOR! I AM EXTREMELY ANGRY!

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Instant oil change

Went in for an oil change and state inspection and an employee at 8611 W New Harmony Trail, Tomball, TX 77375, United States location decided to steal my $180 pair of sunglasses. He was the only one in my car during the State inspection. It was his word against mine and he knew it. Will never use this company again! Will spread the word what kind of people they hire.

Desired outcome: Would like to have my sunglasses back but that's not likely.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Oil change.

Okay so I got my oil changed on august 22nd. I thought it was weird how they kept taking random filters out and kept trying to look at my tires after I told them I didn’t want them to and kept trying to air them up. It kinda looked like they were just messing with whatever instead of focusing on doing JUST my oil change. It took them about 10+ minutes just to change my oil. But It's been driving just fine.. until this morning. I started my car from inside my apt today august 25th. I go down stairs not even 5 minutes from starting it And it wasn't on and I was like umm?So I Started it again with my key and it started then shut off again. So I get in and started it and it instantly dinged saying how my oil was low and I was like really? So I check the oil stuff on the dash and it said it was 0% I killed the car and went upstairs to get my friend and came back downstairs and there was oil all on the ground by the tires and I was like that wasn't there when I came down here a second ago... I made some calls then the Valvoline guy came and put oil in it and was looking around at it and told my friend to start the car and it instantly started pouring from somewhere. Literally all the oil he had just put in it was completely gone. soo he changed the oil filter and just left left.

It doesn't leak if the car is off though so idk what’s going on.

They also never told me I had an oil leak while I was here either, I found out on the paper they gave me..

I got home from work at 6:30 yesterday and looked at the oil thing and it said 100% so I’m really not sure what happened. But I literally wasted $100 because of this.

Desired outcome: I’d like a refund and for my car to get fixed. I doubt I can prove that they possibly messed it up but the car was doing just fine before I got the oil changed. Then just out of the blue 3 days later, there was so much oil everywhere.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Termination

I was terminated for having a cigarette in my hand when I went to pick up some oil filters from a different store this past Tuesday. I've not been able to contact anyone about this. The cigarette was put out on the inside of my car door. Apparently that store doesn't have cameras that point at the front of the store. The store number this occurred at is number 59. I parked out front of the service bay exits. Being told there is no cameras that point that way. So, no cameras that show the guest leaving then?

Desired outcome: Would like my job back or at least be able to defend myself

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] MaxLife Oil change

A ugust 23, 2022, 9:01 AM

I recently had my vehicle serviced at a dealership where my splash guard was replaced properly due to a rack and pinion installation. Upon going to Valvoline Instant Oil Change, to have my oil changed, and then returning home, I checked under my car just to see if my under cover splash guard had been replaced correctly. It had not! And this is an on going problem. The first time my splash guard cover ended up dragging under the car. I notified them about this. Husband fixed the problem so I could drive it without further damage. My splash guard cover has never been replaced correctly, ever. And this morning was no exception! Blame it on the new guy? No training? Splash shield cover screws/ retainer clips are either stripped and or missing altogether. I shouldn’t have to fix my vehicle after returning home.

Desired outcome: I would like my splash guard cover put back on correctly, with all of the cover screws and if they are missing when I get there, please inform me. Probably won’t be back. 3rd strike and your out!

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Oil change service scam

3464 Midway Dr.

San Diego, CA 92110

[protected]

I had been to another location (mission gorge, san diego) and they did my oil change just fine. They struggled with the drain cap coming off and it sounded like they were literally tearing up the underside of my car. I had been getting oil changes before at Midas and they never said anything about the cap going bad and needing to replace it. At first I thought they were just being kind, because they claimed "we replaced it for free." Knowing what I know now about the scam I experienced at another location, I question if they didnt do damage or played the "we'll help you now so you'll trust us when we con you later game." However, whatever it was, it does not take away the scam they 100% pulled on me TWICE. AND BOY DID THAT JERK AT THE MIDWAY LOCATION GO ALL IN TO THE SCAM. The scam? Telling me my coolant was low and they could top it off for $5. Then they used a generic solid bottle with no brand logos to "refill" my fluid. Because it was a dark solid blue bottle (kind of like a gas can size) you CANT SEE if anything is really pouring out. And these kids make sure they're watching you to see if you're watching them. Bottom line is they are not topping off fluids and you weren't low in the first place. So, here's how I know they're scamming folks to get "upsales:" I was driving for Uber when I took the car in. That means only 3 weeks till the next oil change. Took it in and wouldnt you know "you are low on coolant." They must have forgot I was just "topped off" three weeks ago... Well, that's funny, I was literally just here and I have no leaks in my driveway to already be low again. I started asking all kinds of questions. Kid was getting nervous! So I said would my under shield (that protects my belts, etc) stop it from leaking onto my driveway? Y'all... you won't believe this kid had the guts to say "that panel is sort of absorbant so it's possible." When I wasn't buying that, he later comes to me (after disappearing momentarily) and tries to drive the LIE in to seal the deal by saying "yeah there's a good leak already it's leaking all over the floor down there." He proceeds to take a photo and show me on his phone the "leak" under my car... of course they don't have me get out of the car and witness this leak for myself. While I stayed quiet, it's evident he could see I was not buying what I was being sold. He then proceeds to make a big deal about making sure I see he puts notes in my record explaning this imaginary leak to either cover his own bottom or convince others at VIO Change to continue the scam (or both). This jerk even tells me "I recommend you take the car in to have the leak looked at." And you know what? I did JUST THAT just to catch them at their lie. I paid the dealership almost $200 and not one person at dealership mentioned any leak. Which they would... you know why I know they would? Because the amount of coolant on that pit floor was so much it means my car would have drained coolant within an hour (two max!)! It was SO MUCH. THEY LITERALLY POURED COOLANT ON FLOOR AND TOLD ME IT WAS A LEAK TO CON ME OUT OF $ AND GET AN UPSALE! The whole time they made these claims, the gague on my vehicle for temp never fluctuated by a fraction for weeks before, diring, after, or to this day! This happened either late June or early July and to this day not one drip of fluid under my car in driveway. Now I can never go to a VIO Change again. Valvoline could literally write me a check for the $10 plus tax they conned me out of and it still would not make up for the time I was without my car missing work (the dealership had my car almost a week and I make $250 to $450 a day!) while it was at the dealership or the $185 I spent to have my car looked at, to never be told of a leak, nor fix my trust with their service stations. I am beyond livid with this company. I will never buy Valvoline ANYTHING again.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] State inspection

My wife went to the Hewitt, TX Valvoline Instant Oil change location to have a State Inspection on her car. When she drove up she was instructed to go to the last bay. While sitting in front of the bay she was witness to one employee of this location yelling and cursing out another employee. Wow! I am retired law enforcement and have supervised officers. If this is the way an employee can act at this location, then your management is terrible. I don't care if this employee is and idiot or not. There is no reason for this display of disrespect to the customers around them. My wife left. She was not going to have work done at this location. Disrespectful, unprofessional nonsense employees. I have no name because my wife left without talking to anyone. Would you have talked to anyone if you drove up to an employee cursing and yelling at another employee. Disrespected my wife and other customers who had to listen to this bantering.

I recommend to not have work done at this location. Hewitt, TX

Desired outcome: Undercover boss maybe? Someone from corporate contact this location and get this addressed that's it. I'm no looking for anything free. Just some dang courtesy and good sense since common sense is no more.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] all

ok valvoline has a serious issue which is being ignored. It involves all new Ford vehicles with the plastic drain plugs ford has went to. Know involves 2020 Mustangs and all new Ford trucks. I recently had my oil changed and several days later noticed large amount of oil leaking out of vehicle in garage. Oil was leaking out of drain plug which was replaced last oil change. Took it back per valvoline corporate office to have checked. The leak was indeed out of the non oem plug installed by the store. They suggested trying a new plug which was installed and leak continued. This vehicle has 12000 miles on it and is the second oil change done on it. First one was done by the dealership and had a oem plug installed. After the second plug failed, the service tech told me they have had multiple problems with the new Ford vehicles and the plugs Valvoline is installing on them. Their suggestion was to get a Ford oem plug and have them install, which I did and leak stopped. In looking at the Valvoline plug and the oem plug, there are differences which are slight, but you can see where non oem plug showed wear marks on it from installing which indicate it could not fully be seated. Tech said Valvoline is aware of problem and is working with Ford on a solution. In the mean time, they need to quit doing oil changes on these vehicles or at the very least notify customers there are issues with the plugs they are installing and not having adequate fit so customers can watch for problems.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Instant change/filter type

I just got a terrible tapping noise in my 2006 chrysler 300c hemi 5.7l. I am a savvy car owner that used to sell used vehicles but now disabled. So I know what I am talking about and I am very angry with what I found out! The car has only 108,000 miles and was meticulously kept with documentation...

Due to being broke on only $1000 a month to live on, I decided to look into why my car was all of a sudden making this tapping noise. So I looked all around and after a while I noticed the oil filter was wet. Then I noticed how puny/small it looked as it was way smaller than the base that it sets in. You could see a bigger base that was exposed because the filter was so small.

I asked my son to come over and we decided to replace it. I almost fainted when we compared it to the manufacturer recommended oil filter!

The size is not only 50% smaller but the orifises that allow the oil to flow through the filter are 50% smaller as well! Are you kidding me?

You site recommends the vo-25 but you better recheck it! Way too small!

I looked online and every single filter recommendation is for a much larger filter! Your "reference" is wrong!

I am disabled and need my car to go to many doctor appointments. You ruined my car! I am so upset and distraught! I took such good care to baby this car and your specs ruined it!

I want this rectified immediately! Do not blow me off because I will not only picket in front of the store at 2645 mcall rd. Englewood fl. But I will pursue this legally!

You better hope I make it to my doctors appointments! I am so pissed off right now!

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Oil change

I went to the Cudahy location around 2pm Saturday 4/23 the old Mister location. Never have I encountered a group of guys in an oil change place so unwilling to work! I pulled in.. Back up go forward.. 3 times.. Then waited while they worked on the car next to me that came in after me.. While 2 guys stood around. Finally one guy took.. I kid you not 10 minutes to take the cover off my filter n shown it to me… the mgr i’m assuming it was a mgr got back from lunch n started the process… I literally had to ask if they topped of the fluids which I don’t thing was done cuz no one did anything.. I had to ask to check my lights n had to ask to check my tire pressure! I had a cup I wanted to throw out so I asked a guy if there was a garbage can.. He said ya.. Stared at me.. I had the glass in my hand…and walked away! I mentioned things to the mgr about having to sit n wait as these guys stood around.. He says sorry we’re short help…? Then says beautiful day n really sarcastically said.. No reason to ruin your day by getting all flustered… really… 48.50 for a basic oil change.. And for the amount of time I was there.. And the things I had to ask to be checked? They never reset my codes either it says my oil like is 47% so now I have to call tomorrow… really unhappy with the service! I’m going to have a friend check my fluids to be sure they’re all topped off n if not I will go back! Definitely not worth the price!

Valvoline Instant Oil Change [VIOC] Oil change

The Valvoline oil change located at 1505 Mitchell Hammock Road in Oviedo Fl. 32765 wants to charge me $200 dollars to change my oil filter, 2 fuel filters and all the oil even if i'm bringing in all of the products from Amsoil. I have a 2015 trubo diesel f-250 ford truck. All they have to do is install the products. I have paid for everything in advance.

Desired outcome: This amount of money is unreal. I have been a loyal customer for years at this location. I don't understand the amount of money they want to charge me if i'm supplying all the product.
