Transmission service
Hi, my name is Michael Chapman. My car was towed to 10231 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, VA for transmission diagnostic, as it would not shift properly. The car was towed on around the 6 of June 2023 and sat for months to be fixed. Prior to car being towed all other components were working and no leaks. Also, the outer appearance of the car had no physical...

I had my 2017 chevy transmission rebuilt at Aamco in Trussville al at 96,000 miles and then again at 156,000 miles, I had to have it rebuilt again at 162,000 and at 181,000 now at 197,000 miles it acting up again. The warranty was for 36/36 from the 156,000 so now after three rebuild on the warranty its acting up again. I feel the shop should cover rebuild.

Took my 2017 Chevy Colorado to store at N. Rockwell & Wilshire Blvd in Oklahoma City at 8:30 in the morning on July 4th (yes they were open)
Sabrina said 3 hours tops. After my wife and I went to lunch, we decided to
stop by and see if it was ready at 1:30PM. My truck was still parked where I left it, nothing was done. Sabrina says 2 more hours at most. Then Sabrina calls
@ 2:45 later to tell me the cost would be $342.00 which was quoted at $189.00.
She says oops I'll call back. Sure enough it's $189.00. She then texts (not calls)
to tell me that the place they order filters was closed early for the holiday. When I asked her why the did not order the filter when I brought my truck in, she repilied
I wanted to know the filter I needed...REALLY? You can go to WalMart and look it up in a book blondie. Needless to say she said it would be ready in the morning to which I replied that I need it to go to work the next day. Told her just fill the fluid and I'll come get it now. Still had to pay $158.00 to the crooks. Plus the office was disgusting. Stools had covers ripped off with foam sticking out, water cooler with empty bottle, 85 degrees in this office. Whoever owns this franchise should be put out of business.
Desired outcome: Free fluid & filter change
Customer service/repair time
My husband's car has been in the shop at AAMCO since MARCH. He needed transmission repairs. He already had a good idea of what was wrong. The female manager assured him this was something they could do. They called us maybe once on their own to give an update on the car. Otherwise, he was having to call them all the time to get an update as to what wa...

May 26th around 9 am, my ford F150 truck broke down on the freeway near the Cave Creek and Castus Location. I pulled into there, and Scott and Steve looked at the truck and I was told it is probably a speed sensor, but if they take the truck apart for that you might as well get a transmission with150,000 miles on it. So I said ok. We agreed to pay them cash...

January 2022 I paid for a complete brake job at the Silver Spring location which included brake pads rotors and mastercylinder. Total cost 1305.00. I had to return approximately 2 months later and was told I needed new brake pads of which was under warranty and was supposedly fixed. Approximately two months later I had to return for a third time and was told that I needed new brake pads again of which was under warranty. I just returned for a record fourth time to be told after just 14000 miles I need to replace the rotors and was charged almost 700.00 dollars to complete. I am completely sure that the the original job I paid for 1305.00 could not have been done and I feel I have been lied to on several occasions. Someone was suppose to contact me 3 days ago and I am still waiting for that to happen.
Desired outcome: refund for fourth service 672.00

Charline (headquarters), we spoke regarding 2014 Ford Escape that the Aamco Transmission shop located in 400 W Northwest Hwy Arlington Heights, IL 60004. The nightmare started on March 29, 2023. The car was returned twice that it was repaired. First time it didn't last 9 minutes when it stops working as it only went backwards. the second time it worked for...

I took my car to my local Aamco for a transmission repair. I agreed to an approximately two-week service starting May 9, 2023.
Currently, time of this letter, (June 9th), my car is still not finished.
I’ve been told the ordered parts came in wrong and were missing items. I understand that there may be a supply chain issue but I would have expected some overtime on the job to get my vehicle finished promptly. Furthermore, my transmission was shipped to Dayton Ohio for an expert to inspect and repair. This is understandable too. However, today, my transmission is still in Dayton!
Over $5,300 and one month later is not what I expected from a “transmission specialist”
I should have paid a bit more money and gone to my dealership and had a brand new one installed.
I am completely dissatisfied with Aamco. I would like a refund of some sort.
Aamco Transmission & Total Car Care; 370 Northland Blvd. Cincinnati, OH 45246, 513.514.0789
Desired outcome: Finish my repair and get a partial refund.

Casking leak turn into whole transmission repair
They had the car since March 29 then return car on May 8th, stop working so had tolled back to shop. Presently has a leak of a pin, can't trust them to repair
Was forced to get into a loan with Easy pay for $2000.00 at an interest rate of 178.99 percentage rate. How can you do that to a customer on a fixed income. The car was held hostage until gave a credit card payment besides the loan shark loan company like Easy pay. You are in a bad place financially so they throw you into the river with a big stone attached so you go further down the hole.
Desired outcome: Supportly transmission was repaired but it has a leak like a pin hole which has time passes may become a problem.Want them to not use Easy pay anymore.
Car in repair shop since March 29, 2923, I have filed several complaints still no car. 2014 Ford Escape.
Transmission rebuild
I took my car in to aamco around 12-19-2022 and they did check on transmission that took 3 days and agreed to take transmission out for 800 and diagnos the issues. I was told by gary I needed a complete rebuild and it would cost 4300 which included 800 for inspection of transmission. I was told it would take approximatly 2 week to complete. I kept checking...

We had repairs done to our Custom Van between 3/13 and 3/24 of this year. During the repair, we had the Transmission Serviced and the Filter replaced. We were told that the transmission showed no signs of trouble, ie metal shavings or contaminates in the system. When we were called to pick the van up we were told that there had been an accident while the van was being lowered from the hoist, and that the drivers door was mangled. We were assured that it would be fixed, and that a new door was already at the body shop. Keep in mind that the door was mangled to to point where it would not reliably stay shut, and the automatic window was hesitating and making horrible noises. I have called nearly weekly, and have been given updates, the door is prepped and ready for paint, and the door is in paint, etc. We had a specific timeline to complete the repairs, since we snowbird, and have obligations in Washington State. We had intended to leave Arizona on 5/2, but on 4/26 when I called, I was told that the owner, Ron, had checked on the door and that nothing had been done to the door since he had dropped it of. We stupidly did not realize that Ron was not going through his insurance company to fix our door, and we expressed our disappointment in the process so far. Ron told us that he had found another body shop that could get the job done by 4/28, and that he assured us his crew would put the door, hopefully complete with graphics, on the van before our leaving date. I had been previously asked to send photos of the graphics to Ron, and assumed that they had already been ordered, but during the 4/28 conversation I was asked to take the Van to the graphics shop and let them take pictures of the van. I made the 35 mile round trip to the Graphics shop, just to find out that they did not know anything about the job. On Friday 4/28 I was informed that the door was finished, and that if we brought the van to the shop on Monday morning 5/1, it would take only a couple hours to get the door on and the window and locks to where they worked properly. When we dropped the van off on Monday morning, we expressed our concern that the door was not going to match the paint color of our 30 year old van, and that we did not want it to look like a patchwork quilt. During that conversation, Ron told us "we" could possible take it to a shop and have the rest of the van "buffed" out, so that it was not so obvious that the door had been replaced. Ron proceeded to make. what I felt, was a veiled threat, that there was a good possibility that our van (with 80K original miles) would likely need a transmission soon if we insisted on driving it back and forth from Arizona to Washington State. He told us that these vans were never intended to do that kind of traveling, and that they put very light duty transmissions in these vans. Now we are between a rock and a hard place. We are in our mid to late 70's and now feel like if we make a fuss, that our transmission may be sabotaged. I am writing to you today because we feel like we are alone and being threatened to accept whatever the outcome. I also feel like I need to let you know of this disturbing veiled threat. Yes this is a 1996 Chevrolet Conversion Van, but we looked hard to find a high top van with low mileage, and since the paint was good and the van was clean and had a good carfax, we paid a premium price for it. We have been assured the graphics will be done yesterday, and then today, but? I am going to contact my own insurance company and let them know what is happening so that we can feel we have covered our own backs. We are truly fearful that if we make waves, it will be at the expense of a new transmission.
Desired outcome: My van should look like it did when I took it to the shop.
Transmission casing leak plus extra part?
I filed a complaint this morning regarding my situation regarding having a 2014 Ford Escort since March 29, 2023, at 400 W. NW Hwy, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and contact No: [protected].
I got a call from Jamine with an update after so long that the cost increased from $2030ish to $6600ish. I told him to get the car ready to toll ASAP because I made it clear that I had no money since the beginning but gave the OK as it was a crack casing, the transmission was working perfectly with adding transmission fluid which makes me very suspicious with the turn around on repairs needed. There was no way that I would have given approval for such repairs if Jamine had been honest since the beginning, then the car would have been tolled home. I invested $10000.00 in a new engine so I am done, can't invest any more money as I am still paying of my credit card that is maxed out presently. I made it clear that I get only social security income and my son is unemployed.
Daniel Suarez, lost income for a whole month due to car being in shop.
cell: [protected] (Daniel) & Nellys Martinez, cell: [protected].
Desired outcome: Get car ready to tolled back home. no funds to pay $6600ish for repairs.

On March 29, 2023, had car tolled to Arlington Heights, IL on 400 W. Northwest Hwy. I have been told too many excuses: 1st short on staff, 2nd casing has been order out of state, 3rd need another part but still working with one mechanic. Read full review of AAMCO Transmissions and 2 commentsTransmission service / lied about price and never gave me an estimate of any kind until the day of completion
ALL interactions were by PHONE. On March 23, 2023 my husband called AAMCO/Apogee Auto Works asking if they had finance options and we were told from American Transmissions a total of $5,500 and Sam Salvatore said that price was wild and he could at least knock off $1,000 of that price, and then said he had four finance options. Sam said he could tow the car to AAMCO/Apogee Auto Works from American Transmissions at no extra charge on Friday, March 24, 2023. The afternoon of March, 24, 2023 my husband called AAMCO/Apogee Auto Works to ask if the car had been picked up and the receptionist said no, Sam was out the office but they would pick it up. 2-weeks later, we called multiple times asking for an estimate and none could be given, but we were told to expect just under $4,000. The next week was spent being told from Sam that they were waiting on parts. By April 18, 2023 we called and were told they ordered and installed the wrong part and that a time frame for the arrival of the correct part to be delivered was unknown. I called Sam on April 20,2023 and was told the correct part would be delivered by Monday and best case scenario car would be fixed by April 27, 2023. On April 27, 2023 my husband went into AAMCO/Apogee Auto Works for the FIRST time and was told the price of $5,348.29 by his surprise he asked why the price was so high and Sam said he never worked on a Honda CVT before and didn't know the parts would be so expensive, Which didn't match previous statements he made. Sam Salvatore not only lied repeatedly, but he tried to tell me I heard him wrong when I didn’t. I worked for attorneys for years and I listen VERY carefully and make sure to repeat what I hear back to the person. I’m laser focused on detail and Sam never provided a written estimate or provided the actual information on what he was fixing. When confronted, he said he never worked on a Honda CVT transmission but the first time he spoke to my husband he said he worked on a 2013 Honda CVT transmission 2-weeks prior.
Desired outcome: To have my car back for $2,500 OR to have it back in its original condition free of charge. No holding fees, no added fees. Just back to how it was and given back to me for free.
Transmission repair
Took a car to AAMCO for transmission repair on or around 13 September 2022. Received car back on or around 21 September 2022, in what seemed to be good working order. While in for an oil change service, at my local repair shop, I was notified by tech of a transmission fluid leak being present. Returned car for repair on March 7th 2023. Again, the front office guys were quick, efficient and pleasant. I received car back on Friday, March 10th 2023 and again, all appeared to be good. On April 18th, while at my local repair shop, again the tech notified me of an apparent transmission leak. I documented both occasions with time stamped photos. As I contemplate returning car for a third attempt at repair, I know this is a technician specific issue, nothing that to disparage AAMCO or its office staff. The thought of a third attempt by the same technician instills fears of worst results. At this time, I would consider a full refund, so I may pursue correct repairs elsewhere to the best resolution of this issue.
Desired outcome: Full refund of $4,783.08. in order to pursue correct repairs elsewhere. I would appreciate a response to this request. No apologies necessary, I realize these things happen.
Diagnostic and repairs - invoice [protected]/22/23 -
03/14/2023 @0800
Problem: Engine light on - "D" light blinking - VSA Warning light on.
Shop performed diagnostic. I was told that the Camshaft Position Sensor was dead and the Crankshaft Position Sensor was "Off".
Other services were recommended. I left the vehicle for repairs and was told that the repairs would take approximately 6.0 Hrs.
After several calls regarding repairs, each time I was told that the Technician was having some difficulty and needed more time to make sure that the repairs would be correctly completed.
03/20/23 @ 1400 - I picked up the vehicle, paid the invoice.
On the way home, within approximately 5 Minutes and 2 miles, the check engine light came on, the "D" light started blinking and the VSA Warning light came on.
I immediately called the shop and made arrangements to return on 03/22/23,
I returned to the shop at 10:00 AM and was told that the lead Tech was at the ER and would not be back that day and the manager would call me when he returned. I was told that they would recheck their work but if further diagnosis
revealed other problems then there would be additional cost. I explained to the manager that the problem that I had originally brought the vehicle in for had not been repaired and that I felt that any additional cost to myself would no be fair or acceptable and that I was not happy.
Desired outcome: Complete repairs as expected at no further cost to myself. I expect a quick and appropriate response. If the shop is not able to complete the repairs as expected, then a complete refund is expected.

Transmission service
I have a 2005 Acura MDX. My engine light came on and I brought it in to Express Oil Change as I also needed my tires rotated and asked them to find out why the engine light came on. They did a diagnostic check and reported code P0700-Automatice Transaxle. They suggested I take my car to a shop experienced in transmissions as Express Oil does not have transmission experience. They charged my $75 for the diagnostic test.
I then took the car to AAMCO (Panama City Beach, FL) on 2/17/2023 after making an appointment. They couldn't get to the car until the end of the day and eventually called me to say I need a new transmission at a cost of $7200. I told them I wasn't going to pay that much, but asked for a quote on a used or rebuilt transmission. The mechanic said they don't do rebuilds, but would get me a quote for a used one. The charge for the diagnostic test was $250 (more than 3 times what Express Oil charged for the same test) I have not heard from them and have followed up with voicemails as they don't answer their phone. Given the fact AAMCO hasn't called me back and did not initially provide an option for a used trans, I wouldn't go back there and would not recommend them. Also, I was under the impression that AAMCO was the transmission experts, but obviously not impressed when the mechanic wouldn't consider a rebuilt.
Desired outcome: At least a returned phone call.
