I have filed a report with the office of Ken Paxton, the TX Attorney General as well as the TX Division of Insurance: Fraud Bureau (FRAUD REPORT ID: [protected]).
Alamo is making a blatantly fraudulent attempt to pass off preexisting damage from a hailstorm on an unexperienced new renter.
The car had pre-existing hail damage (likely from the recent baseball/grapefruit sized hail storm on April 9th).
Friday April 26, 2024 I drove it approximately 50 miles away to Marble Falls, TX, parked it and drove it 50 miles back on Sunday.
It didn't hail at any time anywhere in the vicinity of this location nor the airport location on April 26, 27, or 28.
It's IMPOSSIBLE the hail damage is from the weekend I had it.
The worker checking me in even admitted they just received the car from another location and hadn't had a chance to get their records updated on the car's condition. No explanation was provided for why I was not given a form the day I rented it to record the damage before leaving. He was more than happy to record it when I returned, of course.
Being a new renter, I didn't know such a form existed and simply returned the car in the same condition it was given to me, as is my responsibility.
I received it with dents from hail and thus, I returned it with those same dents from hail. Alamo is purposely attempting to bill the wrong person with ZERO regard for sorting this out legitimately.
I received the damage claim email early Monday morning, hours before I even got the finalized rental receipt from Alamo.
The employee checking me in said the office would review past rental records and video evidence and get back to me if needed. If they didn't call me, all is good.
They did not call me. I have tried repeatedly to call them. No answer. Yet here I have a claim filed for nearly 5k in damage within a few hours of returning it which tells me no such research was done or attempt made to clear this up.
This is FRAUD and I have every intention of exposing it.
Claimed loss: $4548.82
Desired outcome: Dismiss this fraudulent hail damage claim. There was a massive hailstorm 2 weeks prior. The preexisting damage is not my responsibility.
