In the latter part of June 2017, I sent a request to AAA asking for assistance in booking a cruise as I have never used AAA to book a cruise. After a few hours, I decided to book the cruise without any assistance with AAA. On June 24, I was contacted via voicemail by Rangel stating that he will help me book my cruise. He also text me but text my name as "Justin". I assumed that he had the wrong customer or he was some sort of scam because I had already booked the cruise. I did text back and said that I was not "Justin" and that I had already booked my cruise. He never contacted me again.
Fast forward about three weeks and I am realizing I haven't received any type of confirmation from AAA about the cruise.
I called on Friday, July, 8th. Someone answered the phone and begain explaining that Rangel called and text.
I jokingly mentioned about how he text me but addressed me with the wrong name. In my opinon, she became defensive and began saying how long he has worked for AAA and how she worked...
I ended up speaking with the manager on Monday, July 10 about the situation and explaining that I never received confirmation for the cruise. The manager J. Stewart said I would get my confirmation soon and that she needed to look into the situation.
Fast forward to Wednesday and I had to call AAA again because I still had not received my confirmation.
services and employee
Today, July 11, 2017 I placed a call at a AAA service center because I have been using their towing service without any issue until today. Prior to rendering the tow service, I was NEVER notified over the phone or through the app that there is a 7 mile limit on towing. However, Jovana, badge # H177 of California adamantly insisted that I was informed of the limit prior to the rendered service. It left me very distraught because I never talked to any AAA agent before I was towed but she continues to accuse me that I did. The only time I was able to talk to any person was after the towing was done and the tow company had already charged me $144 for over mileage use.
Of course, I paid the towing company but had they notified me of the mileage limit. I NEVER would've towed my car that far. There was no notification on the app either. Even after I input the destination of the tow, there were never a notification that I am going over my mileage limit prior to the tow.
The fact that an AAA agent can make such a daring and outrageous accusation is very disturbing to me.
I am still very shaken by what had happened, i thought i was going crazy! She made me think i was losing my mind. I was completely helpless.
home and auto insurance
On hold for a hour and told I needed to call the bank after not being notified they did not get payment from bank. Really poor service for a member that has been with them since the 80's . Thinking of pulling all my insurance. I had to wait a additional 30 minutes to get a supervisor then was hung up on with no contact information given. It is sad to see AAA dropping service for their members.
tow request
On July 5, 2017 had oil leak and low oil warning light. Pulled over on the highway, shut off the car and called AAA for a tow. Was told by dispatcher that within the hour a tow truck would arrive. Waited the hour (in 90+% weather)..no truck. Called AAA again. Was told the truck was en route and would be there within the hour. Another hour passes...no tow truck. Called again..it is now getting dark and my family is concerned. Told tow truck was delayed (no reason given) and should be there within the hour. Waited 3.5 hours in total and finally tow arrives. I and all the drivers in my family have been AAA Plus members for over 10 years. DONE with AAA. Their service is horrible..looking for another more reliable and truthful service.
finish line towing & transport - unethical business practices. cheaters, scammers, liars - and lack of communication
Date: 6/28/17
I was in a car accident on 6/28 and my dad called AAA for me for a tow.
AAA dispatched Finish Line Towing and Transport (Rancho Dominguez location). The tow truck guy told me my dad can save a tow on his card if I had my car pulled to his yard since I have full coverage insurance with State Farm. He convinced me that my car was leaking oils and fluids and that I don't have to be there to deal with anything. He told me that State Farm's tow guy can pick up right from his yard. He told me to sign the release form so that it gives authority to my insurance company to come pick up.
State Farm's towing company came the next morning (6/29) to pick up my car to their yard so their claims adjuster can evaluate the damages. SF showed up and Finish Line wouldn't release it to them because they didn't have cash. Next, it was because they didn't have my registration and couldn't prove that I allowed my car to be released. Finish Line waited til late, late in the afternoon to get paperwork to my husband to get matters resolved.
3:20pm and my husband is frustrated at work trying to get matters squared away. Still no release. I called Finish Line and told that customer service girl (Kathy, I believe her name is). I told her I feel I shouldn't pay for another day of storage fees since they can't get their act together and tell me from the time State Farm's tow guy showed up. They had all morning to help me resolve the everything and get the car picked up. I told them it's not fair and it is horrible business practice what they are doing. She put me on hold several times. Then she kept feeding me the line "I'm sorry, this is company policy." Then she told me that she didn't know what went on because she just started her shift. How is there more than one shift if your business hours are 8-5pm? Finally, they get the release at 4pm. At this time, my insurance company can't come pickup in time as Finish Line closes at 5pm. I asked to speak to their manager and owner. She tells me they are not in. I ask her for the owner's name. She tells me "Mark". I ask her Mark what? She hangs up on me.
Had I known it was this much trouble and this costly (as these are not covered by my insurance), I would have called any tow company and have it pulled to my house. It would have been much cheaper. Saved me, my husband, and my insurance company's aggravation, frustration. I would not have lost valuable work time. Now, I feel distressed.
I told them that I will write a yelp review, I will file my complaint with AAA, and I will also file my complaint with BBB.
If AAA allows for companies like this to be a part of their network, then I would really consider not getting a membership. I was really considering it too. My parents and my sister uses AAA for their care and home.
tow truck driver broke my door handle off my car
Case # 1416, Alyssa Oconnell is my case manager in member relations.
My care handle was completely broke off my car and I sent pictures on 6-15-17. I have had no follow up since 6 20-17 and I still have no door handle on my car.
I have sent several emails in writing, as those are tractable versus voice mail, which are easy to dismiss. I honestly will never recommend AAA to anyone, I am switching my own roadside service to my current insurance provider as they stand by whoever they actually have tow your car versus saying all we do is mitigate damage.
I need my care repaired, I need this issue resolved. Nothing should take this long.
very poor customer service
Very poor customer service, their guy told to call roadside assistant again after waiting 3 hrs. because I missed his calls and called him shortly afterwards and he had supposedly left already, but he never came because I never left my vehicle and never saw him. I could not wait another three hours so I was extremely upset. I relyed on this service and weren't there when I needed them, I immediately demanded a refund. He called from [protected] and said his name was Lulu, verrry bad experience and do not recommend. Also their system was "down" hmmmm! First and last time with this awful company.
I've currently been waiting in my car 2 hours and 11 minutes! Unacceptable for a spare tire change!
I'm sick of seeing the same AAA commercials especially the one with the lady in pink. That commerical has been for almost a year. It gets on my nerves. I change the station or mute the commercial. You need to put out some new ones.
towing service
At 1:30 PM I called for a tow service at 3:39 PM, still waiting and no service! At 3:30, I called the towing company, Renegade Towing, they were still buy doing something else, I calle AAA again, told them this was unacceptable, they in turn told me that the tow truck should be by my location in about 20 minutes, still unacceptable, since probably by the time the tow truck shows up, the mechanic shop will be closed! I have been customer since 2006, customer # [protected]. This experience is making me rethink if I should go to another company...
poor customer service and misleading web information
I am a brand new customer to AAA. On Saturday, June 17, 2017, I went online to book a hotel for a trip my daughter and I are taking in August. I was trying to book a LaQuinta in Minot, ND using the AAA discount that was shown on the website. There was a $7.00 difference. I put in my number to "unlock the savings" and the when I clicked in to finish booking it, the original cost of the hotel only showed. I call AAA customer service and the woman told me that those prices are only available for seconds or minutes. I tried to tell her that I clicked immediately and she said the discount was no longer available. I asked her why it still showed that there was a AAA discount and she had no reply, other than it takes time to take it off.
My second situation happened later that day when I went into the Eden Prairie, MN AAA office to ask for some in-person help with our trip to the Canadian Rockies. The women there seemed like they did not know how to treat a walk-in customer, one woman, Sharon, was at least kind to us, but seemed to be totally keyed into what the other "main" woman wanted and who basically acted like we were a nuisance. I even stated "maybe this isn't a good time for you, I feel like you are not interested in helping us". All this while she was pouring herself some Cheese Nips. As she asked us what we wanted, which was help with hotel reservations, she was writing what we were asking on a little piece of scrap paper and had to keep erasing and crossing things off... She treated us rudely and to be honest, really turned me off to AAA.
I felt it was important for you to know that I, a brand new customer, had two negative experiences within an hour of each other with my first encounters with AAA since I took membership about three weeks or so ago.
I did get travel books and they said they would order trip ticks closer to our trip dates.
Thank you for your time.
See above for the details of my complaint. I find this complaint process rather cumbersome. I should be able to submit a complaint without registering and going through all of this.
battery
I bought this battery last year.it lasted 6 months then will not barely crank my car.i called twice for battery service.ive been told twice battery was good so no replacement.im a retired mechanic and I think I've forgotten more in my lifetime than those jack legs you send out for service.they use this machine that supposedly test the electrical system.but never show you the results.i paid 155 dollars for a battery I could get at Walmart for 55 dollars.that may be why you offer such a warranty .but then again they won't replace them regardless apparently.i don't want another battery any more I already purchased a new one and my car cranks beautifully now.i do want my money back thought at least half.if I don't get a satisfactory response I will take it up with the better business bureau.
aaa towing services unfair and unethical policy and practice regarding their towing services.
On June 20, 2017, my car electronic car system indicator light was stating that my car was inoperable. My car was making a loud notice while I was driving home from Winston Salem, NC. The indicator light was flashing a warning sign for my breaks and ABS problems. Therefore, I drove my car to the nearest break repair shop *Falls Automotive & Service Shop" in Winston Salem. The auto mechanic conformed that my car the had major problems relevant to the left brakes, brake rotor, bearing and break pads were gone, and the car was inoperable he also stated that he could not repair my car due to not having the right equipment to correct the problems. I do not live in Winston Salem, therefore I was not familiar with the auto repair shops in Winston Salem. I was told (June 20, 2017) that if I have my car towed to my home, that AAA would not tow my car to an auto repair shop- this was the first time that I heard of such a policy from AAA and I have been a member of AAA for an extended period of time. This is nonsense to me, AAA is primarily a towing service in which the customer purchased. It was suggested to me by the AAA agent on June 20, 2017, that I take my car to AAA Auto Service Company for repair, however reviews show that AAA Auto Repair Services Shops do not have good reviews. I have a challenge trying to understand this so call towing policy. This policy is not on any of AAA renewal information that they sent to consumer or new consumers which is deceiving and deceptive. When, I contacted AAA Service on June 20, 2017, an agent told me that AAA started initiating this (towing to one location, to your home, repair shop, etc.) Policy started in March 2017. The reason given by the AAA agent is because customers were/are abusing towing services. AAA should not require their customers to make impromptu decisions about where they want their car serviced no matter where their vehicle breaks down -this is not fair and is an unethical practice on the part of AAA. After reviewing my AAA Plus information, it states that AAA Company provides an 100% Money Back Guarantee, I am about to ask the to adhere to their 100% Money Back Guarantee.
truck didnt start
Worker appear to my location at 11:36 he left at 11:38 pm 2 minutes very rushes service. He states that it was the battery then got in his truck and left.I do understand that is late I was to my friend home when my car decided not to work.I figure that now that Im aware that its a battery issue to my 2013 hyuduni santa fe I will use place the battery at an affortable price. He never communicate about prices to sell me a battery but I know that it could have been a sale for him .But I guess he didnt cate about his profit or the business (AAA) .He kept his call running and hop in his vehicle with in 2 mins of a waste of late night service call.Im shame I know he waa trained better.Poor service I have 1 more payment to make left because I pay yearly im decided is it worth it or not.Now me and my four kids have to stay over to my friend house when I could been at my house only if this driver would provide quality and cared service.I guess not.My contact is [protected] I deserve my service call back.
insurance policy and how it was handled
In 2015 I hit a retaining wall with my 2010 Dodge Charger AAA towed it to Vallejo but on the way there the tow truck driver did not tie down a truck that he was talking with my car the truck bounced off the tow truck and landed on my car and crushed it at this time I had full coverage insurance but was not given the opportunity to get a new vehicle AAA insisted on fixing my damaged vehicle by AAA policies and full coverage insurance I should have received a new car I tried finding information with my old policy number and I've called Triple A but it doesn't say anything about then dropping a truck I hope somebody will take a look into this and I thank you for your time my old policy number is [protected]
roadside assistance
My car was towed to my mechanic on May 27, 2017. There were two problems that I experienced. First, the two truck showed up 3 1/2 hours after my call. Second, the two driver attached the pull-up chain to my front suspension, resulting in bent inner and outer tie rods. The bill for the repairs came to $424.98. To date, this issue has not been resolved by AAA.
hertz membership satisfaction guarantee
I arrived in Fargo, N.D. in April just after it snowed/iced. At the Hertz store on Main Street, I was told that I had been "upgraded" from a V.W. Passat or equivalent to a Kia Soul. When I protested, I was told that this was the only car available. Nothing in a Kia Soul is "up" to a Passat or equivalent. I found it somewhat embarrassing to drive the car. However, the most important problem was that the car did not handle the icy roads well and I had to struggle with it for over 1 1/2 hours.
When I later complained to Hertz, I received a form letter apology saying that I would receive a $50 credit when I next rented. The letter did not address my issue nor explain why I was given the Soul. Soon after, I had to rent cars for my kids and I reserved cars with another rental company.
unethical behavior battery warranty not honored
Reference: Member Since 1991
Battery Service Call 01/19/16
Battery Service Call 11/16/16
AAA did not honor a battery warranty and incorrectly charged me for its replacement. I would like a refund, for the cost of the second battery purchased on 11/16/16 in the amount of $130.54.
On 11/16/16 a service call was placed to AAA for battery service, at my home in Toms River NJ 08757. I had left the door ajar on my garaged vehicle and with the dome light on, it drained the battery.
The AAA service technician arrived and jumped the battery, the car was started and he advised after a few minutes of the car running and charging the battery, that his tests indicated there were bad cells within the battery and it would not hold a charge. He stated the battery needed to be replaced and that no amount of charging would repair the failed battery.
The technician was advised that the battery was recently replaced by AAA on 01/19/16. He checked AAA service records, the current odometer reading and advised that AAA would not honor the battery warranty, due to low mileage on vehicle since the 01/19/16 battery replacement.
Concern about this AAA policy was expressed verbally to the technician while replacing the battery. Upon replacing the battery and paying the technician for the new battery, I thoroughly reviewed the warranty documentation, provided by AAA on the “Service Receipt” and “Mobile Battery Replacement” brochure. AAA’s documentation does not reference vehicle mileage as a condition of its limited battery warranty.
I placed a call to AAA and registered a complaint in writing. I called Delaware customer relations department and they would not respond in writing. They provided only a verbal explanation that is not reflected in the documentation. Delaware Customer Relations conveyed that AAA would not honor the battery warranty, due to low mileage on the vehicle, between 01/19/16 and 11/16/16. The explanation was expanded further to reference a specific line within the “Warranty Exclusions” section of the “Service Receipt”, letter d), which reads; the battery is damaged due to over or undercharging. AAA Customer relations, indicated the low mileage was indicative of undercharging the battery and therefore would not be covered. If there is a mileage requirement it should be in writing.
I disagree with the verbal determination made by AAA’s Customer Relations department representative. The AAA technician jumped the battery, tested and determined it would not hold a charge due to bad cell/s and that the battery needed to be replaced. A failed battery, within two service dates, is a warranty event under the terms of the limited warranty. Car mileage is not mentioned or relevant in the warranty terms.
It is troubling that there can be confusion, requiring so much effort on a member’s behalf to resolve this matter with AAA, regarding a straight forward basic service.
AAA should warranty the battery of 01/19/16, by refunding the battery purchase made on 11/16/16 for $130.54.
AAA is taking advantage of the elderly when they are vulnerable.
roadside assistance
Triple A Roadside assistance is a scam.
I have carried Triple in both Ohio and Indiana and seldom used it but I did need it last night 6/04/2017 at around7:30PM. I had a tire blow on a busy highway. I have Triple A Plus.
I called Triple Roadside assistance number and told them I was on 421 between Versailles, Indiana and Madison, Indiana. About a 20 miles stretch of road. The man ask for an address. I was in country with no mailbox in site. I told him I did not have an address but that I had a Navy blue Jeep Cherokee with flashers on along road. He took all my information and said that someone would be there within 30 minutes as I was on a highway, alone, and it was getting dark. No one cam. I called back and this time got a woman and she stated that my request had been cancelled since I did no give an address. She stated that no one from Triple A would send anyone without an address and that I would need to walk somewhere to find an address of I was just stuck there. I then called my husband and he started out on a trip that would take him about 1 1/2 hours. I walked for about a 1/2 mile, along a very busy highway, at dusk to find an address on a mailbox. I then called Triple A again and ask for a supervisor. I gave him the address and explained the situation and by this time was getting very afraid and upset. He took my info and said someone would be there very soon.. No one came. My husband arrived about 10 PM and changed my tire in the dark on the side of the road. I got a text from Triple A while I was driving home that a service person would be there by 11PM. They were going to let me sit there from 7:30PM to 11PM. I did not respond. I got home and went to bed and got a call from Triple A when I had gotten to sleep at 12:45 PM. The man stated that the service person was on the way. I yelled at him and told him not to call back again.
I had ask the supervisor to have someone from management call me in AM. No call this morning so I called them at noon.
Saying you provide roadside emergency assistance and not truly providing assistance is not only also advertising, it could lead to someone being seriously hurt.
I am sending this letter to everyone I think can help with this. I would not want this to happen to anyone else. I am a 62 YO woman, a nurse, and I was becoming very nervous and scared and no one from Triple A would help.
roadside assistance
On june 1, 2017 my SUV had a flat tire in the Bay Terrace shopping center parking lot. I contact AAA (Service request # 48129) and was told someone will be there in an hour.
I contacted them after the hour and was told they were running late and will be another hour. I asked if there was a way to track the AAA vehicle and they said no. After another hour I called again and the AAA representative looked into it and said it'll be another hour.
Since it was getting dark and I couldn't stay out all night waiting.
Contacted my son who came and helped remove the flat tire and put on a spare.
Something is wrong. I should not have to wait 3 hours for assistance.
Will have to look for a more reliable company.
hotels did not meet quality standards
We left for our trip to the Grand Canyon on May 21, 2017. We booked two hotel through AAA. Both hotels were Travel Lodge. First hotel was in a shady area of Barstow California(was just an overnight stay) I had booked two rooms. One room the electrical socket was coming out of the wall! When I asked about the swimming pool for the kids, they said it was not open. Which was a good thing. I could see the pool from my room. Not clean, lawn chair that I could see was disgusting( I have picture). We couldn't wait to check out in the morning. Next day we arrived in Flagstaff Arizona(this time I took pictures) Again the electrical socket coming out of the wall! Upon checking out of the hotel(we stayed two nights) I asked the front desk person to mail some postcard, to this day they have not been received :(
Does anyone from AAA check out the areas they are booking? If not I suggest you start sending people out to these areas. Very disappointed :(
employee noel powell at your san clemente branch
I went in to get a form faxed to sign for a commercial policy I have through aaa brokerage and one customer was helping me when Mr. Powell came up from his cubicle and said my name. He then looked at the other employee and snapped at him saying look at the computer don't just call yo a customer. " I will help you" he said. At which time he took me to his office only to tell me what I needed was not what he was trained for. So I had a person on the phone from insurance company who just wanted to speak to someone from aaa to know whom they were faxing to. Me. Powell got on my phone and proceeded to argue with the insurance company saying " I'm trying to help you out" " this is your job not mine". " this is your customer not mine, I don't have a policy for him you do." Mr. Powell then tried to give an email to agent but got upset with them and said " I'm hanging up I have work to do this is not my job" and proceeded to hang up on agent on my phone which took me 20 minutes to get an agent on the phone in the first place. I too am a busy man. I'm a contractor and Mr . Powell cost me a lot of time today. He had zero customer service and in fact didn't treat other employees nicely and did so in front of other customers as well as argue with the insurance company in the middle of the office in front of everybody. I even got a call back from insurance company asking me who was the irate person on the phone. Mr. Powells display of customer service and his treatment of other employees was a disgrace to AAA. I'm considering cancelling my membership. I would never deal with Mr. Powell again for any service your company provides.
