On July 15, 2017 I acquired the AVG My Ultimate virus protection. (order number: [protected]) Somehow, on that very day, AVG's computer system went through some kind of change or problem that made it impossible for people who had bought the antivirus on that date to install it (this is the explanation I got from the suport team in Rio de Janeiro). I would follow all the instructions, but in the end, the AVG Ultimate couldn't be installed, even with the help on the online support team.
Well, this has been going on for over a month, and I've called AVG in Rio de Janeiro Brazil many, many, many times, and they kept telling me they were trying to solve the problem.
Last week, I sent them an email saying I wanted the purchase to be canceled, which I had been asking them to do since the beginning, but they kept saying they'd solve the problem.
Anyway, I told them I wanted to cancel the purchase because it seemed they weren't able to solve the problem, and I had already paid two parcels of the product (the payment was on my credit card, divided in three parcels).
Then, on August 29, I got an email giving me instructions for the cancellation. So I followed the instructions and asked for the cancellation.
Yesterday, August 30, I got an email saying the purchase had been canceled, but I I could go on using the product (what a joke...) until the expiration date in July 2018.
This morning, September 1, I got another email in English from Jothi Sivagurunathan

So now, I can't use the product I paid for because it can't be installed/activated, and AVG refuses to pay the refund, and tells me I can go on using the product until July 2018. How can I use an antivirus that can't be installed?

I downloaded your 'free' virus protection just to find my whole computer plagued with google. I have managed to keep this very fancy tracker off my computer for many years. I trusted your reviews and nowhere is there a mention that you would use these tactics to download an unwanted program onto my machine. I will not be using you again because of this affiliation with the biggest con on the internet. I decide which google app I want on my machine and gave you no right to download any other app except your 'free' anti-virus. Please let your customer decide and not allow google to piggy back into downloading onto unsuspecting users, that way your apps WILL be FREE. I will now have to back up my files remove the whole operating system and replace to ensure chrome has completely disappeared from my machine. This is how much your free AVG virus protection has cost me. I have the free avg on my computer. when the computer became infected I purchased the avg for my computer. Why do I still get messages that say "avg pc tune up. your trial mode has expired? I made this purchase on Oct 1-2017.

avg tune-up
AVG automatically took payment for renewal but "new" program has badly affected my computer files. I cannot access Word or Excel or Malwarebytes.
A technician said they would log in remotely but I declined - I have since read reports that having discovered what the "problem" is the technician wants money to repair the problem - a problem caused by their software.
I feel like I've been mugged and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. My computer is ruined.

Purchased a retail version of AVG antivirus that came with CD-ROM and product key. The CD just directs user to create a mandatory AVG online account to download and install the software. No info on the package indicated that an account would be required. The retail package was for unlimited devices for 2 years. Every device that would be added needed to be registered to this account. Major security and privacy issue. AVG could track and collect info about my family's cell phones, tablets and PC's. AVG is JUNK - I wasted $$$. AVG's "30-day, money-back guarantee does not apply to retail purchases of AVG product."
pc tune up
I had problems with my company required internet security software and it was going to take a while to fix. Until then I removed it and installed AVG antivirus. When my other program was resolved I removed the AVG software but had also installed the AVG PC tuneup which wouldn't remove. I didn't know that until I re-installed my other software and was still getting PC Tuneup popping up telling me how great my computer was running and I had 14 days left on my free trial. Then I got a pop up on the lower right of my screen stating AVG was slowing my other software to preserve resources. I don't know about you but internet security is more important to me than a tune up which is really only required every so often and my work requires I be on the internet all the time. I was provided with the AVG remover tool that kept popping up a .dll file was missing the program wouldn't work. I had to reinstall the tool 5 times before it seemed to work. It didn't work completely. The tool was supposed to remove all fragments of the program and registry items. Tech support said they'd have to use advanced tools for that and charge me. My other software finally completed running after 3.5 hours when it would usually be done in 1.5 hours. I don't have time for that. It's like ransomware. It locks your files and you can't access them unless you pay. They put software on your computer that won't work with anything else but their software. I have to use other software. Others like other softwares and may try PC Tuneup. You can't use the other softwares without them slowing it down. They won't remove it unless you pay them. EXTORTION!
Their support in India was difficult with their accents and they weren't all that smart. In the Philippines one girl hung up on me. She'd taken my number so she could call me back if we were disconnected. I waited about 7 min and she never called. I called about 4 times, was passed around and spent over 4 hours on this.
If you want programs that won't cause problems, good tech support and not to be extorted, don't use AVG, particularly their tuneup program.
Oh, and they pop up a review of tech support for you to complete. I gave them 1’s and 0’s on everything and the form wouldn’t let me submit. This happened with 2 support reviews they provided me with. What does this tell you about the company? They wasted over 4 hours of my time that I needed for work.
Also, support when sharing your computer screen tries to close tabs. They did not have my permission to close tabs. They probably wanted things closed like my screens that I got corporate emails and/or my negative review on their survey from them so I couldn’t report them. Protecting their jobs?

Well Thank you AVG You have completely messed up my computer and part of my life . . I need my computer to speak to my Daughter in Australia and to see my new Granddaughter .Since downloading AVG My computer is virtually useless. I cannot uninstall it not even in safe mode. My system restore wont work not even in safe mode. Downloads take forever thats if they work at all . My most precious skype is history. I am 69 I cannot afford to take my computer for repair, thats if its repairable. . Even the best tool to remove wont work because it wont download. I was advised by your support team to use another browser like firebox or internet Explorer. but neither will download. . pc tuneup
I bought pc tuneup july 21, 2017 with my Endeavor credit card. Iwas able to download it but after the night of the 21st, the program said I must buy to continue using it. This was after purchasing it. This complaint is being written on the 23rd.
I tried to download the the free antivirus. was unsuccessful.
the end result has caused me to not trust Avg to offer a dependable service

I told them my money had better not be removed from my acct! i have been in touch with my bank and filed theft and fraud charges against you. They have been charging me to the last year, on things that I don't even know what it is. I sent them 3 letters, to "Customer support" and they came back as undeliverable" They have all these names that they go by.
"SlimCleaner". "Safecart". Avg" They have given me refunds before, but in no way is it enough. They just make up something to say they are refunding. This is a terrible Company.
This has been a bad year for me, as I have had surgery, and been in and out of the hospital, so I have not really got to find out all they have done until recently. They have charged me monthly for $9.99 for a long time and do not know what for. I pay all at once for my Avg protection.
I cannot afford for them to do this. I am disabled and a senior.

selling me a product which I do not need and telling me I was continuing the agreement which had not been used since 2014.
In June 2017, I received a statement from AVG by email informing me that they had not been able to withdraw money for my AVG protection for my computer which was due on 25th July and my card details were no longer valid. I was busy at the time but yesterday I contacted them and paid to extend the agreement. I paid for two years because that was cheaper. I then received a receipt with reference no. [protected] and with details of my purchase. I tried to download the protection but found this impossible. My details were not recognised. This morning I phoned AVG and said that I wondered if that cover was for my previous laptop and that my present labpt was an Applemac. My husband had bought this for me for Christmas. He thought that was the case but said that as my previous laptop was different I had to have an applemac cover which was twice as expensive. He said he would ensure that the money was paid immediately because otherwise icould not take out two large amounts in one month. I agreed to pay for the applemac but only for one year. This was £48.99 for one year. I was given a ref. no of [protected]. I entered my card details and the payment went through (Debit card) I then received an email to [protected]@gmail.com which had no references or prices it just told me to set up the account. I could not. It would not recognise any details. I then discovered that i had an account for my applemac which had been set up in 2013. It was for one year and I can assure you that I had never received any communication when that year ran out and it is obvious that this is the case as there was nothing more on the account. I phoned Applemac for help as i had spent one hour with AVG support team and achieved nothing. They informed me that i did not need AVG cover as they had their own set built into the machine! I have found it impossible to get any help from AVG since then. I should be most grateful
if you would consider reimbursing me with the money since I don;t need it and because i find I really cannot download the protection.

Towards the end of last year I renewed my annual subscriptions for Internet Security and Tune-up with AVG. I recently discovered that I was no longer benefiting from either of these services. When I checked my account on-line it showed I had no current subscriptions although I put this down to website maintenance. In the meantime I contacted AVG who tried twice, unsuccessfully, to reinstall the software. By this time my laptop was running so slowly that it was practically unusable. One of the engineers thought my Wifi was slow but my husband's computer was fine. I noticed that my laptop was running ever more slowly before realising I hadn't had any AVG scans for a while.
Since then I have had to buy a new laptop which comes with its own security software, so I have no need for AVG. Unfortunately I am not entitled to any recompense due to their very rigid 30 day refund policy. This seems unfair since it is AVG who have been unable to supply me with their products, and although I am able to transfer them to my new laptop I have completely lost faith in AVG and question their whole ethical stance.
I have spent £120 for these products, partly because AVG inadvertently charged me twice for the Internet Security sub, but offered me an extra six months free (which I now regret taking).
I understand that I have little or no recourse in this matter but keeping such a sum of money for doing very little seems tantamount to theft and not an ethical way of doing business.
cancelled antivirus software
In May, I received an email about renewing AVG software. Having no PC I cancelled immediately and received an email saying sorry to lose me has a customer. Then today a direct debit was taken from my account leaving me with no money left in my bank account until I get paid next Friday. I immediately tried to cancel the payment with AVG and my bank account with no success. So I then went to the live chat - and was told that they were unable to contact the refund department, which I felt was unfair that the AVG support department cannot contact other departments in the company.
If this money is not in my account by the end of the day tomorrow. I am going to seek legal support using the evidence I have gathered including past issues where the payments have been taken out of my account twice in one Year for services I have not used. I am also going to publish the evidence on my website and social media sites to warn customers of the underhanded tactics AVG use.
It will be clear from account details how unfair I have been treated. You should be able to see this evidence yourself.
Please can you confirm by email if you choose to rectify your mistakes asap

avg updates screwed up my system!
On the 5th of June in the middle of playing a Wildtangent game AVG froze my game for their updates. I tried to get out of the game but could not. I finally had to pull the wall plug. And restart my pc. When I came back on line AVG had completed their updates and said they were successful. They were not. My system became so slow it was unbelievable! I reset my system back to May 31st. And finally my system worked fast again. But now no AVG Security, or AVG tune up, both were bought. The 1st tech could not reset my AVG security. And after almost 2 and a half hours of ghost writing my PC, decided to not speak to me. I tried the 2nd Tech, and was told I would have to pay for a tech. I refused, telling him I would not pay for their screw up. The 3rd tech worked with us for a few minutes the hung up. I now have no Security! If this problem is not resolvedsoon, I will file a complaint with the FCC. This is by far the worst service I have ever in my 3 or more years with AVG.

May 16 I bought AVG protection from Amazon for a discount. I found out today they do not give refunds on downloads. I was promised a CD which I did not receive.
I took the information from the order and put it on AVG's web site. They recognized the purchase, but went no further.
I was prompted to go to an 800 number for help, after three hours the woman said she could not help me. BUT, if I paid $79.00 or $119.00 for one days help,
or $199.00 for a years help. I would be able to get my PAID FOR AVG to work.
Why did I get AVG? They said they could solve these problems for FREE.
This group said, "Not without me paying out a lot of money.
I said for another $100.00 I could get a new computer without the problems.
Are these people legitimate. They said they did their work for the AVG company.

The fire wall in my AVG Antivirus software is blocking a Java bases programme access to my computer. I need this programme in order to work from home. When I contacted AVG (7 May 2017)the supervisor -Chendy- said they could fix it at a cost of £49, I was unhappy with this as I feel this service should be offered free since the anti virus software is already expensive. Chendy said she would call back on Monday the 8th May but did not do so. All AVG need to do is allow the software I need to get through the firewall. The charge is ridiculous and i will not be renewing my subscription with them.
I called back today 14 May 7.26 pm and spoke to a man- didn't get his name who told me nothin is free in this world dear- which I consider to be patronising and offensive
