I did a wire transfer using bank of america in baltimore MD johns hopkins branch to my own account in India using SWIFT codes. I was told that india is a slow to pay country and it takes about 3 weeks and no investigations would be don't till then. It has been 2 and a half months and it hasn't gone through. My bank in india has not received any information regarding this from bank of america and the bank of america is not willing to help. Every time i contact them they tell me that they are sending e-mail to the bank in india to find the status and that the money is in india and nothing can be done about it and it is possible that i lose my money. I have no clue as to how to go about it.
They tryed to charge me ten dollers to cash a five doller check.
I called them (holding for 22 minutes) to get my interest lowered (28.99%) after a year of paying on time and above the minimum payment and all she was interested in was consolidating my accounts on a five year pay plan, even tho we had a three year personal plan. She had no interest in lowering my interest. I am not sure that she was even exclusively a BOA employee. I felt like I was switched to a third party company looking for more business and BOA gave me the brush off.
Bank of America is the worst mortgage holder we have ever dealt with. We tried to re-finance our house last year with them and they put us off for 5 months and then told us we would have to come up with 1500.00-3000.00 to pay for a termite inspection and treatment before they could go further with the refinance. My husband lost his job right after that so we then put in for the making homes affordable plan and they again took 5 months and I finally called them to see what was happening and they tell me that the V.A. is no longer approving this program so we no longer qualify. To me, they seem like a big bank trying to get more money and keep from helping the little man any way they can. I wish countrywide would have never sold them our mortgage. they stink!
Dear Consumer Advocate,
In 2017 we were victims of a checking account fraud of $4218.15. B of A gave us a week to decide their final offer: pay them $1000 and they would forgive the $3218.15 or pay the whole thing. Since we didn’t seem to have much choice we took it. I have come to find out that B of A filed the loss to the Feds $ State of CA as a 1099-C. Now both want $800 each in taxes as it is recognized as income. We’ve called B of A twice speaking to there customer service, fraud, and legal departments. This was never income for us, rather a cancellation of fraud debt. Oddly, they seem to have no records of the transaction. Yet, they will not countermand the 1099-C. I’m at a loss as to know if there is anything I can do. Can you assist me?
Thank you.

Two complaints here, moral of the story I will never do business with BoA ever again.
Bank of America has always been shady with their overdraft fees, but since I graduated from college and "grew up" a bit I've left a buffer in my account so I haven't had to deal with overdrafts for a number of years. Overdraft fees aside, BoA customer service and the interest on checking and savings accounts are dismal compared to Boeing Employee Credit Union (6.75% interest on the first $500 in each account) so I've been in the process of switching banks. The only bill I pay with a check is my rent so I moved everything else over to BECU and changed my bi-weekly direct deposit to half of my rent check until I had the BECU checks in my hand. Twice a year I end up with 3 paychecks in the same month since I get paid biweekly and since rent is due monthly it feels like bonus money. One of these three paycheck months happened during my switch so I ended up with an extra half of my rent ($402.50) in my BoA checking account. I walked into the branch so I could take out the full amount since I planned to close my accounts with them (they didn't know that). I accidentally told the teller I wanted to withdraw $405 (my rent check is $805 so it was my mistake out of habit). She went to a computer in the back by the drive through banking to pull up my account and came back with the money. She didn't say a word that the withdrawal would overdraw my account by a measly $2.50. So I ended up with a $35 overdraft fee. How the hell do they let someone overdraft, in person, without even mentioning that it would incur a fee. This also happens to be the ONLY time in my decade plus of working with BoA that they didn't ask me if I wanted a balance.
Now for the second slap across the face (chronologically this one came first but it seems like overdraft complaints are all the rage so I led off with that one). Bank of America is my oldest credit card, I've had it since I was 18. I've never missed a payment on any card nor do I have any "derogatory" information in my credit history so my credit score basically tracks my debt to available balance ratio (albeit with minor influence from the length of my credit number of inquiries and whatnot). I was recently promoted at work so my income went up and I started making major headway on my credit card debt. I checked my online banking and BoA reduced my credit limit to within $50 of the balance, without even telling me. I sent a message to their CREDIT department through their online form (from within my account so there's no security risk) asking them why my credit limit was reduced. They said they don't have access to that information (umm WHAT? they're the CREDIT department, who else would?). They said I should have received a letter in the mail. 5 days later a letter did show up. They said my credit limit was being reduced due to recent changes to my credit report. I've had credit monitoring for a while and over the last three months (thanks to a bonus that went exclusively towards my revolving debt) my credit score jumped from 650 to 707. Obviously I think their response is pure ###. I know there's a recession and a credit crunch and if they need to cover their ### and reduce my limit for internal business reasons that's fine, but I they should have at least said that instead of flat out lying about the reason for the credit limit decrease.
Whew, that said I applied for a credit card at BECU (wasn't my original plan as I don't need additional credit), was approved for a larger credit limit at a lower interest rate and received tremendous service helping transfer the balance (plus I spoke with someone who worked within 50 miles of where I live).
I wish Bank of America would fall like Lehman Brothers so smaller banks and credit unions can fill the power vacuum.
I finally had to call bank of america Corporate Headquarters: [protected] / [protected] to get any help or semi-normal person.
I wanted to find out if a payment to BofA was late since it was due on a Sunday [7/11] and I paid it through there "bill pay" on 7/11. But, after 4 + different calls, having to answer numerous security questions, being told to call somewhere else, and oh, and having these DOLTS hang-up after I got tired of answering 3, 4, 5 + questions, and still not being able to find out if a payment was late; I called their Corp.
At least I got an answer - that it's not late if paid on the Sunday due date but posted the next day. But, the Exec. assistant did say their people can ask an arbitrary number and type of questions until they "feel good". What a good way to run a "biness" - no standards, arbitrariness of low level employees, and not knowing anything, anyway!
This wasn't the first time, but probably the 20th or more time I've had problems with this taxpayer owned bank. It's very hard or impossible to get anything through their FAT heads.
I'm thinking they ought to just merge with GM, and become "SUCK INTERNATIONAL"!

I am writing to let you know that we have been trying to get our home remodification loan worked out thru discount mortgage relief for about a year now. Our original home loan was thru Taylor, Bean & Whittaker then was sold to citifinancial before we knew anything about it and our first letter from them stated we were multiple months behind, which we were NOT as we were on the equity excellerator program with them which always had us a month ahead, they would not work with us even though I had proof all the way back to april of 2017 that it had been taken out of our bank account each two week period, before I could get this worked out with citifinancial it was sold to Bank of America and we got no help there either to put us on equity excellerator program as the funds from Taylor, Bean and Whittaker had been frozen so it looked like we were behind from July of 09 thru Sept. 09 which of course we were NOT at that time behind we were always one month ahead. I tried talking to someone at bank of america with no results as stated they could not work with us until the account had been brought current which at that time it was but since then we have tried home remod. loan with discount mortgage relief and I have sent paperwork, after paperwork, after paperwork to them as requested by bank of america and still no home remodification has been done and as stated before this has been going on almost a year now with NO results or remodification done. It should by no means take this long, at most it should only take about four to five months not almost a year. We have been given different loan processors; have gone thru three loan processors thru discount mortgage relief to the point that I am wondering if they are not working with bank of america to make us loose our home. We received paperwork in the mail on saturday July 17, 2017 from law office stating it was a motion-order-notice of an amendment of the last paperwork we got from same law office, when I called the mortgage relief they just told me that it is a scare tactic by bank of america to the home owner and that they will wait until about five or six days before the sale date is set before they will give in and say OK we will work with you on home remodification loan. This type of thing should not happen is not right nor acceptable and I am with Jon vs Bank of America. Until all this happened and we were still with Taylor, Bean and Whittaker we were NEVER late on the first payment so again I say this should not happen, is not right nor acceptable for people to be strung along like this for so long just to have their home taken away from them or have them hang in limbo not knowing what is going to happen to them or where they are going to live if their home is taken thru unscrupulous measures by a bank or mortgage lender. This is America where things like this are not supposed to happen especially when the banks have received their bailouts and are now riding hard all those people who thru no fault of their own have lost a job or had their home loan taken over by someone else who is unwilling to work with them to make sure they can stay in their home. The making home affordable plan is/should be just that, working with people who are due to the down economy having a hard time making their payments and not being able to find work and have drawn out on unemployment due to not being able to find work. I support John Wright vs Bank of America
I have been working with the "Hope Team" at Bank of America to modify our loan for 5 months now. I called them periodically and sent them same documents on 3 different occasions, by FedEx and by fax. They told me the trial period would be 4 months so when that ended, I called them and asked what was going on. They told me just to keep making the trial period payments and wait. Today they sent me a letter saying they have denied our application due to not receiving the documents asked for. I called them immediately and was on the phone for 2 hours, most of the time on hold. Then they kept transferring me from department to department and the last guy wouldn't even let me talk, kept interrupting, and said since I hadn't bothered to contact them, I couldn't even appeal their decision. I kept saying I had called and was told just to wait and he kept repeating that they couldn't do anything because I didn't ask the right questions. What? Yet their system still has our account as being active, but I can't even get a live person on the phone! I told them they are running a scam and I will report them. Who will do something?
Mary
You're wrong on both counts. My complaint wasn't that they lowered my credit limit, they have every right to do that. My complaint is that they lowered it before notifying me and when they did it was lowered within $50 of my credit limit which sounds to me like they're trying to create a situation where I unknowingly go over the credit limit so they can charge a fee. As I said in my complaint, if they had just told me it was a business decision to limit their exposure and risk and notified me in advance, I would have been completely fine with it. The icing on the cake with this complaint is that the official reason stated was blatantly false.
Second point, yes they did overdraw my account by $2.50 while I was in the branch (with a teller, not at an ATM), without telling me. It was a 3 paycheck month, when I withdrew the "extra" funds it was the first deposit that month. I took out the money knowing that I would have 2 more deposits prior to writing my rent check. My account was not tied to a line of credit.
Speaking of ATM fees though... I use my Charles Schwab checking account when I travel, they will refund any ATM fees I incur at the end of the month, even if I'm overseas. Their checking is also free with a small minimum monthly direct deposit into my brokerage account ($50).
Ask your neighbor to name any value add service that Bank of America offers that differentiates themselves against BECU's 6.25% interest on the first $500 in checking and saving or Charles Schwab's ATM fee refunds? (and don't say the "keep the change" program... rounding up my withdrawals and depositing change in savings is not a value added service... its just moving small amounts of my money around in hopes that I will leave more money @ .25% interest for BoA to play with)
Bank of America is pure evil! They are robbing us blind stating that we owe 4 months on our mortgage when we only owe one, mainly because we had to fall behind on our payments to qualify for a loan modification. We used to have Taylor, Bean and Whitaker who went bankrupt and obviously BofA purchased their loans for pennies on the dollar. I have a PMI which guaratees these delinquents about $100, 000 from the government and alot more when they sell this house in foreclosure. Sadly, we fell into hardship when my hours were reduced at work and also the mounting expenses for our disabled son. We have been trying to modify our loan since December 2017 and they obviously are stalling and do not want to help. They will make a lot more money foreclosing on this house. I had to acquire an attorney in April due to their malicious practices and fraudulent behavior with my account. We are extremely upset and have been paying the price emotionally. My hair is falling out. My family is in turmoil because of this. My blood pressure is out of control and goes up dangerously high every time I have to speak to one of these incompetant reps that constantly lie to us. I am taking blood pressure pills everyday now because of all this distress. I am gravely depressed and obsessed with this situation. I have even had suicidal thoughts. This is truly disturbing how they can crush a family like this and cause so much pain and suffering. They have no intention in helping anyone but themselves with our tax money. I had filed a complaint with the Attorney General and he has shown interest in my case and hopefully they will investigate and prosecute to the full extent of the law Mr. Moynihan (CEO) and all of the other voltures involved in this. They need to be stopped!
I called the Repayment Financial Hardship dept. and asked for assistance to reduce my monthly payment due to loss of income and they wanted to know my budget. All the details of my life. I found it offensive and they turned me down because I wouldn't tell them my personal expenses.
When I called Wells Fargo they dropped my interest rate more than 1/2 for 12 months until I get on my feet.
Yeah Wells Fargo!
Who bailed the banks out--the government! Banks need to bail their customers out!
What do you expect? You expect them just to lower your payment that you agreed to in the past just on your word? Of course they want all the information.
got a new card close that acount
Bank of America bought my escrow company. The beginning of my nightmare. They doubled my escrow payment for no reason. They then applied my principal/interest payment to that fraudulent charge. I immediatly got the escrow department to reverse that payment amount because there was no reason for it. The bank, for eight months so far, has been adding late fees for the misapplying of my contractually obligated payment to the escrow which I can, and will, cancel at any time. I have been through a dozen customer service agt who can not help me, but whose job it is to shut me up and get me off the phone. After a few months i just demand a supervisor. I have been hung up on when I ask for one. I was told by one that they reapplied the payment and the problem was fixed, but they cannot waivve all the late fees. I got a supervisor who did not have the power to waive but one late fee, when there were months of them. She spent a month and waived all the fees. but the fees kept being applied. She refused to waive more, because the misapplied payment, from months ago was still misapplied and showing each month late. She referred me to a different department and that person claimed they fixed it and waived the late fees. yet i am still getting late fees. and i am unable to get through to anyone but customer service agents with no power and bad attitudes.
This is all fraudulent by the bank. first doubling a payment, then taking the money from my regular, timely payment and put it on the fraudulenty doubled payment. then charging late fees every month. and NOT ONE PERSON who has power to see the problem and fix it, but everyone giving me run arounds and outright lies to shut me up and get me off the phone!
Bank of America reset my account to accept all transactions pending the law changes next week. I did 7 transactions all small when I thought my card should have declined if it was empty it APPROVED all of them, now they charged me 7 NSF fees of $35.00 each, I talked to management they said ALL ACCOUNTS were reset as the law would be changing AUGUST 1st and people had to opt in to not have the fees anymore. You think you have your account set, but this bank with Deep pockets just wants to take what they can until the law passes. They have no compassion, they even admitted it was changed, NOT BY ME, , , , they decided to line there cheating pockets before they lost income from broke people. WATCH out if you bank there they are HORRIBLE>
This is the letter I faxed to boa today. I still find it hard to believe what they've done to me and my credit score... For no reason that I can think of...
Should I seek legal damages? I'm sure I would lose. With the cancer and treatement side effects I don't have much energy. I guess I was naive...
I am writing you today to express my extreme disappointment (And disbelief) about how i’ve been treated by boa. Prior to my finding out recently that I was reported by boa to all 3 credit agencies that I was 90 days late on my mortgage loan I thought boa was a caring bank.
The reason I thought this is because last september 2017 I was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. I immediately started undergoing daily high radiation treatments. By november 2017 I was so sick that I could not swallow and had difficulty talking. I had to have a feeding tube surgically placed into my stomach to receive nutrition because I was unable to swallow. During this terrible period I called boa (With much difficulty talking) to ask if they had any special programs or options to assist someone like me – a good customer that expected to be back to work etc in just a few months but would appreciate a break with house payments for 2-4 months since I was unable to work and was feeling very stressed about my finances. I was told by a helpful boa rep. That I could receive a special forbearance agreement and my monthly mortgage payments would be suspended for 3 months (Interest etc would continue to accrue). When I heard this I was thrilled because, while I could and would continue making my payments on time every month as I had for the previous 9 years, a 3 month break would relieve some of my financial stress. I was so happy and pleased that boa had this program to help people undergoing an unusual and temporary situational stress. I soon received a contract that stated I would not need to make payments for dec., jan and feb. (12/2017 – 2/2017). I was very happy.
I was boa’s biggest fan at that point. Suspending my payments for 3 months while I was receiving chemotherapy. Wow, a big bank actually caring that I was sick and giving me a break for a few months. I told many friends and family how helpful boa was.
I received the contract, reviewed it quickly (As I was extremely ill and thought I could trust boa) and returned it.
I guess I was painfully naive or just plain stupid.
Shortly after my cancer treatment ended I returned to work and tried to get on with my life. I did sell my home (That was financed by boa) in march 2017.
I recently discovered that the 3 months of suspended loan payments was reported by boa to credit agencies as me being 3 months late on my payments! This report has ruined my credit. I contacted boa thinking this was some kind of error. They now tell me that it is stated in the contract I signed that while they were suspending my payments for 3 months they were still going to report me as late to credit agencies. I am in disbelief. Why would they do this to me? What do they have to gain? What purpose does this serve to boa or anyone? If I had realized that this was their plan (To give me 3 months of suspended benefits but reporting me 3 months behind on payments) I would never have signed the document and would have found a way to make my payments on time every month as I had for the past 9 years. So now i’m going to suffer for years because boa wants to kick me while i’m down?
For the life of me I just can’t understand what their purpose is.
Why won’t they take this off my credit report? Yes, I signed this contact….. Yes; I did not understand this point in the contract…. But again…why? Is it punishment for being sick and asking for some help?
• 9 years of on time payments
• boa signed agreement for suspension of payments for 3 months while undergoing daily cancer treatment
• now reported as 90 days late on credit report
Why? Punishment for asking for and receiving help? There is no other reason!
Let’s end this now. Please fix this.

We have qualified and made all the trial period payments and been making our new reg payments. We found out they were charging us late fees since the trial period even they they told us how much to pay. Then they said we were only making partial payments. That was the first scetchy stuff they did. Now BoA has been taking our money and not posting it till its late. we paid July payment and it cleared our bank in JUNE! and they didnt post it on our acct till the 19th of July ( it was due on the 16th of July!) We paid almost 3 weeks early and they still not posting it till it late and charge us a late fee and report us late to the credit bureau. Its really sad and frustrating when u call and one day u get someone who seems to care and wants to help then when u find out it still isnt fixed u call up and get some guy from india contradicting himself 3 times over. Cant anyone help us? We are at the mercy of the big banks
I agree with you 100%. I am now disputing my denial/forclosure with the MHA.Gov group. I was told when i called them that are there to oversee the proper paperwork process and to assist when things don't go correctly...we'll see. I don't trust anyone anymore and frankly at this point BOA, come take my home as well!
I totally agree.. I will never do business with them ever again. I will tell anyone who will listen, BOA is the worst as far as customer service, fees and charges. They do not have a clue from one department to the next what is going on.
I have been trying to get approved for a hamp fha program for a year now every reason in the world why fax wasnt sent paperwork was not signed ! I have done everything i was asked and still there is a payment of $1700 that includes taxes and escro.. I have lived in this house for 14 years and do not plan on leaving 31% of my income is a $1100 dollar payment that i can afford and i will never be late ! I tried myself and now hired an attorney i have been told that an in house modification is what is being offered from $1738.66 to $1701.00 ? 6.35 % to 5.00% plus $1900 up front in 5 days ? assumming i got the $1900 $1700 i can not afford ..my house is worth 200k i owe 225k i would really like to stay here my kids were born in this house i was told by a friend of a friend that i should support "I support the John Wright Vs. Bank of America lawsuit"
I just want some help please

Bank of America sucks! You should write a complaint to the comptroller. Write the bank a letter you have to put everything in writting so theres proof.
Boa sucks! becarfull because 2 of my friends got scammed by insider workers that used there account numbers and took money from them. they both switched banks immediatly
honestly i think their only guideline for processing short sales is to "Procrastinate" as long as possible ... Keep steering the customers from getting on track here; Get them interested in all these other government program options; More paperwork needs to be submitted" They are very good at "double talking"
My husband and I filed for the Make Homes Affordable program in August, 2017, when we heard that there was availability for people who had not yet been late and did not wish to be. We had reduced income due to job loss. We were told by Vanessa at BAC that as long as we were not late on any payments, including the trial modification payments, that this would not affect our credit. Well, here we are a year later and found out that they turned us in as late in June, July and August, EVEN THOUGH ALL PAYMENTS WERE ON TIME. Now, we got a letter in the mail that they are filing foreclosure proceedings. They are liars and are ruining people's lives. Shame on them.
Dont Go With Bank Of America I've had nothing but problems for months and I signed my documents I was given a 30 yr one the first 6 yrs my loan payment where to be $1573.26 the lona payment was fine for only one month then in jusly I started getting paper work from them saying my payment where $2997.01 a month I took my loan Documents to the bank and they can see the amount my paper work says but computor say different it been 3 month and I have a problem every month I pay a week early and if you call the next day they say you are one month behind going by my documents all payments made one time going by bank information always one mont behind ( GOOD LUCK BUT LOOK ELSE WHERE FOR HELP
I know that the customer service reps and anyone in the banking centers do not know how the overdraft process works and will tell the customer one thing. WHen it results in fees, they will lie and say that the customer is lying and will not refund fees. They have to make up the income they lost from being able to charge 10 overdraft fees a night to 4 so they will charge you every which way they can. I know!
I bought an investment home and had loan from BOA through a brook, the whole process was unbelievably snap. BOA had my husband’s information entered wrong into their computer than asked my brook and us did a lot of extra work, and they kept promise they will have all paper ready but until the last day (it was HUD property, must close at certain day); while they worked with my brook, they wrongly emailed us information what they should send to the brook with encryption(my GOD, what happen if they email our information to others?). The worst was, on the last day when we got the closing office, the close attorney said BOA had found errors on HUD, they were making changes and didn’t know how long it will take; 1 and ½ hours later, we had been told to be back to office at 4:30. We finished sign all papers and found they charged too much for escrow, that is not allowed. The attorney said the house was not completely closed and we couldn’t have keys. But you know BOA began to charge us interest from that day. The following week, the attorney office send email to BOA back-forth, finally we got the refund of escrow surcharge, but not even mention any interest.
While had this loan from BOA for the above investment house, we were doing refinance our primary residence from BOA via the same brook. BOA was our older lender, too. The ref. was delayed to the last day d on August11, somehow the funded on August 19 instead 16, I am not sure if we paid another extra 3 days interest, because when I received the escrow refund yesterday, I didn’t see any details. The refund toke them more than one month after I called couple of times.
BOA used to provide good service, what happened to them? I hope BOA top manager can read this email.
You had what is called a 'dry closing'. That means youclosed on a date before the doc's were dated for and funds were available (for whatever reason...it is semi common). If you have any questions ask YOUR attorney but it sounds like they followed what they were spose to do. they just copied you on to the email for the closing doc's, it is not as bad as you made it out to be . The escrow was fixed it sounds liek ( what did they overcharge you?) and no, you did not pay any more then you should have because the loan didnt fund until you go the keys. ( I am guessing you closed on a friday (the dry close) and it funded on a Monday and you got the keys then)

Bank of America and its President, Brian T. I am going through the samething with BOA been 2 yrs now.Got a call from them mid June saying I needed to call them.I called them the tell me I have been denied because I have to much reserve money and that I needed to doing something with my reserve money and refile.Which I did then about a month later I get a package in the mail saying I had been approved had all the papers that needed to be signed along with m a break down of my payments and had to be returned within 5 days.Did all that then just yesterday get a letter saying I was denied because of my reserve money. So which do I believe and you call BOA and they are so lost.
Do not believe it when B of A says they back your transactions. Now for the second time a merchant ripped me off and after taking my statement B of A found for the merchant. The recent one is for Vision Star, Inc., Los Angeles (DBA HomeStarSearch.com) where their monthly fee continued after I requested ending the service. The earlier one was worse... I allowed Sterling Optical to charge over $600 for new glasses. They never produced nor delivered them to me. In both cases the "investigation" phase at B of A accepted the lies told by the merchants and debited my account. I'm through with them. My first account with them was in 1979 (the last good bank, Security Pacific that was acquired and destroyed by B of A) and they've made a ton of money from me. That ends now.
When I tried to usd my visa/ATM card in Delhi, India, I could not use it. The marchant told me that it would not go through. I was extremely embarrassed, inconvinienced, and worried what was happening to my card. Needless to say, I couldn't purchase what I wanted to purchase and went back to the hotel immediately to call Bank of America. I called from my room directly. I wanted them to reimburse me the phone calls I made which was about $77.
Not to mention the frustration of trying to get through to a manager. They refused to pay for it. I told them that I travel all the time with my job, and she told me "well, did you call us to tell us that you will be in Delh?" This is not protection for the customers, it's protection for them.
I have the receipt from the hotel that shows BofA phone number. I'm closing my account asap.
I was enrolled in the Make Homes Affordable Program and began my "3 month trial" as of 3/1/2017. I turned in EVERY piece of documentation they required. At the end of that time, I had to call and ask what I was supposed to do since I had not heard from B of A. Someone said "just keep making your payments and you will get something in the mail." For months they kept asking for more documents that had NOTHING to do with my 3 month trial, B of A just was taking so long that they needed updated information. I made all 3 of my payments and gave them all the paperwork that was required. I soon began receiving phone calls and letters wanting more information, all the while getting NO information. I spent HOURS on the phone for months getting all sorts of different answers. I would get undated letters to call people and extensions that do not exist. I would get sent to "the Office of the President" every time and they would say, "you aren't supposed to be here" and then transfer me once more. Then I get a letter stating I am "kicked out" of the MHA program because I DID NOT SEND ALL DOCUMENTS REQUESTED! I DID send all documents, but they waited months and needed even more. When I called to "appeal" my removal from the program, the man said he could not find ANY of my paperwork! ONE HOUR LATER, he started seeing my documents online but said he was missing some so could not file an appeal on my behalf and there was NOTHING he could do. I asked for a supervisor and she did give me her extension, but I have not been able to get her to call me back after I left her a message regarding ANOTHER letter I got which was undated and said I had to turn in paperwork to a Jo Lewis and to call Jo Lewis at this particular number. When I called there was NO ONE by that name whatsoever and I got transferred around to a lady who said she could not help me, did not know where that letter came from or who Jo Lewis is. That UNDATED letter either came on Sat Oct 2, or Mon Oct 4 or Tues Oct 5 and said I HAD to fax the items listed by 4 OCT or the file would be closed (I was out of town the 2-5) When I told the supervisor that, her response was "It is not our fault you were out of town" (!) I am incredulous as to the impossible hoops I have to jump all the while, they have no intention of helping me. I just get the run-around. HELP! ritters5@sbcglobal.net
Where do I begin... well in November of 2017 I lost my job at Target where I was making approximately $60k a year which is very good for this area. We were devistated and I immediately applied for unemployment. I then contacted my bank and informed them of the situation and explained that I could send them about $1000 per month with my unemployment, at the time my mortgage was around $1600. I asked them if they had any mod programs or assistance that would help me keep my house and I was told "NO" that my $1000 per month was only going to pro-long forclosure. I was told that my debt to income ratio didnt qualify me for any program. That was a no brainer... I just lost my income. Anyway, so instead of paying a payment I paid off a bunch of our debt. I then contacted Bank of Amercia once I had some significant debt paid and asked them the same questions. We went through the same routine conversation and question/answer period, but this time they said I qualified, , , oh and I also had a new job by this time however I was earning less money, much less. Never the less they told me to send in a TON of paperwork, employment varification, a hardship letter, tax statements, the whole works. I sent it in for them. During this time they were working on putting together this forbearrance payment for me, $828.66 per month for three months when it finally arrived. But during this time, I would consistantly get letters stating that I didnt qualify now, they didnt get something from me they needed, or they would send me a bill with a new HIGHER payment amount. Each time I would call I would get a different story from each representitive. So when if actually finally arrived I made my three months payments as requested and then didnt hear a word from them. Approximately a month goes by so my husband calls them. Oh yes they re-assured him that the new modification would arrive in December. January shows up and we still havent heard anything. Then we get a letter in the mail stating that we dont qualify and our new monthly payment is over $2017. That is over $400 more than our originaly mortgage payment. We could not afford it. So we called and again we were given the run around numerous times only to finally have them tell us our debt to income ratio was too high. WHAT? We didnt incure any new debt since we were qualified last time so what is the deal. We just through our hands up and said forget it. We have tired for almost two years to work with the bank on an affordable mortgage payment and now our house is in the forclosure process with a sale date of November 29th 2017. So we started selling our things, we stopped putting money into the home for fixing stuff and we started packing and looking for new homes. AND NOW WHAT... the bank sends us a new affordable plan out of the blue and are willing for work with us all of a sudden. Why now? Why after we have tried for so long? Why after we sell our posessions? We wanted to keep our home and they played games with us for sooooooo long and now that we have gotten rid of our personal belongings and our preparing to move they pull this.
I was with BofA for over 10 years. My job ended unbeknownst to me and a few checks were overdrawn due to my direct deposit never arriving for my pay nor my bonus.
I went to the bank here. The "kids" working at the bank seemed to think it was funny. I told them that I wanted to the overdraft charges reversed. I NEVER abuse my checking or savings accounts. I went to a couple of branches that I deal with and they were not interested as I opened my account in another state. They told me that they understood and would be happy to reverse these overdraft fees, however, they had refunded too many in Las Vegas already and denied to do so. They told me to keep going to branches and see if someone else would help me!?! I visited 5 branches. I was in the state where I opened my account, and they refused to help me because I didn't live in that state any longer. When I was in CA I went to the branch in Palm Springs and they said there was nothing they could do because they have no control over these things outside of CA!
I abanded this account! Their customer service to an excellent customer as completely unwarranted and unnecessary.
Complaint - mary mccoy - small business escalation supervisor...- worst service provided by her...
- this must be the 5th or 6th time i called to discontinue online invoicing and direct payment service..
- boa had been charging me 20 bucks every month every time i was told that they have opened a service request and someone would get back with the answer/resolution...
Finally talked to mary mccoy: (supervisor small business escalation department - supposedly highest rank i could talk to...)
- she says that she is highest in the ranks - can only go give $40 back..
- she says there is no other process for getting refund for inappropriately charged amount...
- she says that people who have told me have lied and she is the ultimate authority for boa...
I am extremely disappointed to get such a response... and top of that she decides to hang the phone up declining to transfer the phone to her supervisor when asked multiple times...
I have to agree that boa does have policies that are designed to rip customers off... and the attitude is a dont care attitude...
I was enrolled in Obama’s Home Affordable modification program through BOA in Jan 2017. BOA put un into HAMP trial payment plan. Soon after the 3 months of trial was over I kept calling BOA and they asked me to continue making trial payments since my case was still under review.
In Jul 2017 they rejected my mortgage application saying that I have missing documents. I had sent them the set of documents for about 2-3 times. I appealed their decision and my case was re-opened. Again I was asked to continue making trial payments. In the mean time I started getting letters of accelerate to foreclosure and collection calls. I called BOA loan modification department and they asked me to ignore the letters and continue making trial payments. I received foreclosure notice last week. I was really scared and surprised. When I called BOA about it, within 3 days they rejected my loan modification application which was pending for 10 months.
All these time, I have been paying trial payments and have never missed even a single payment. Boa reported to credit companies as a delinquency and now my credit score is down from 790 to 660. I feel I am been screwed. They want all the money in next 2 weeks now. I don’t know what to do. They are going to foreclose my house.
I want to retain this house and don't want to let it go to foreclosure or short sale.
- Bank of America makes nearly 40% of their annual profits from fees, charges, etc. to their "valued customers", and will soon be charging around $9 to speak to a teller at any branch. -As stated on CNN in October, 2017-
I have had my share of horrible experiences with them, and actually just finished up with the latest claim on my wife's B of A account.
Months ago in May, a company called "Passport to Fun" charged her account without her realizing it until a couple of weeks ago when she noticed a second charge from the company and decided too look back. We filed a claim at the local BofA branch (HELL of a process) and they said the claim would be processed and the charges reversed within 7-10 business days.
Come to find out as I investigated today, they reversed all but ONE charge which was an "extended negative balance charge"- keep in mind they just closed out her account due to the neg. balance AFTER making the claim. She only had the negative balance due to the unauthorized transactions that took place, and BANK OF AMERICA'S ADVERTISED POLICY is that YOU, the account holder, are NOT responsible for ANY UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTIONS on your account.
After my many phone calls to several different departments of BofA, (the run around) I found out that the company that charged her out of the blue (Passport to Fun) IS AFFILIATED WITH BANK OF AMERICA! The BofA rep actually told me that, (probably without knowing my suspision). Included in this piece of information I found out from the rep that Bank of America never actually filed a claim on my wife's behalf, they just spoke directly with Passport to Fun and had the charges reversed. It was no problem due to their "buddy buddy" relationship. However, they still closed out my wife's account due to being in the negative from these unautharized charges from their affiliate. Looks like I spoke to the right rep at the right time, because in my past experiences, the customer service reps could care less about you're issue, don't know anything (or chose not to tell you if they do), give you the run around, and in the end, you're right back where you started.
I will leave you with this final statement/personal opinion.
Bank of AMERICA puts shame to our name. AMERICA: Land of the free, home of the brave, and everything in between.

Another victim of the system
And oh, p.s.
Don't bank with Bank of America
