On April 23rd, we visited our local Bob Evans to have dinner. Store#533
My husband ordered the 3 course meal, and was charged for his dessert. Clearly, the dessert was advertised as part of the 3 course dinner.
Then, to top it off, our bill was $27.30, I had a coupon for $5 off, plus another $4 rewards. Still cannot understand that after taking the $9 total off of our bill, how it could still come to $21.93. (On the ticket given to us from our waitress, it shows before taxes, $25.45. Taxes $1.85, total $27.30)
If anyone can explain how this can be, we would sure like to know!
Also, this is the 25th, NOT EVEN 48 hours since we ate at Bob Evans, and when I went to do their survey on line, it said that I had exceeded the 72 hours given to me to complete the survey.
I really believe that Bob Evans Farms, sure are not what they used to be...VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED! :(
mashed potatoes singles
I bought a pkg of Bob Evans mashed potates singles. I had one of them tonight for dinner and it tasted sour and/or had a weird taste to them. Plus had black pieces of something in them. I don't know what it was. I examined the pieces but have no idea what the black things were.So I got out the second single and it was the same way. I checked the expiration date and they are good until 02/25/2016. Today's date is 02/01/2016 so it wasn't expired. I've bought these mashed potatoes for quite awhile and never had any problems until now. I'm so very disappointed. I'm not sure if I will buy these again or if I will try another kind. Thank you!
wait time.
My wife and I was at store #570 on Jan. 2nd. We were seated right away and our waitress was there to get our order within 3 or 4 min. She put the order in at 9:38. It was time stamped. At 10: 47 we got our food. The waitress said she didn't know what was going on. The place wasn't that crowded. Then when I was paying the bill the girl ask if everything was ok. I told her how long it took to get our food she said yes that they were slow in the kitchen today and told me to have a good day. Well you would think I could have got an apology at least. I would have thought we could have got a discount or something.
Published coupon near expiration then would not honor
I received a Bob Evan's coupon in the mail (aptly called "Junk" mail in this case). When I clipped the coupon, I didn't notice that its expiration was Friday of the SAME week! So, when I visited the restaurant the following Tuesday, I was upset when the hostess informed me that it had already expired and she didn't offer to honor the coupon. From a past...

Visited on a Sunday and were quoted a wait time of 10 minutes, while it was 10am and busy there was only 1 manager on, how is that a good idea? There were a group of kids from a ball team waiting as well who commented that they were waiting for 20 minutes and were also quoted 10.
When I approached the gentleman Donte, he seemed upset that I was asking how much longer to which I then asked to please get me a different manager. His reply was, "My GM is on his way but I'm by myself right now sir", and also giggled to himself as he walked off with a towel to leave me up front in mid conversation with NO ONE around.
I was now getting upset by his lack of attentiveness to my problem and to the fact that I was talked to in such a manner. Very poor hospitality and common courtesy, by the way THAT'S THE BUSINESS YOU ARE IN...the "Hospitality Business". When he finally did return another manager was walking in, now almost 1030am, when I tried to talk with him, he ignored my attempt to get his attention and he actually stepped right around me. I now was furious. To boot the original man at the door saw me and said hi to the manager coming in without informing him of my need to speak and followed him in through the door by the registers.
I told my wife to grab the kids and go to the car, as I was going to talk with him and be right out. After another 5-10 minutes neither of them came to speak to me I went to find him. As I walked into the back of the restaurant and saw my neighbor Mrs Kuklich I said hi and she asked how I was. When I told her of what happened she explained that she just spoke to Gary the GM, who was the man who walked past me while I was at the front which I had learned from her as she just spoke with him, and said you may not get too far we smelled liquor coming off him. I didn't notice myself but then heard him berating a poor girl in the service area about her not attending to guest needs...how ironic huh? Maybe you should look at youself first as figer pointing leaves 4 fingers pointing back at yourself.
As she seemed to tear up I just wondered if this was normal, but others just kept working and looked as if its just another one of those days.
I wish I had taken a video on my phone to show you what the scene was like, but had given it to my wife to call Cracker Barrel to see how long a wait was. Needless to say this guy has zero people skills and HR needs to investigate his actions, people are not cattle they have feelings and I don't know anyone who works better when being yelled at. Shameful example of leadership and if you read this sir you FAIL ON AN EPIC LEVEL. I now understand when I read how Bob Evans has taken a turn for the worse as far as hospitality and service. Also she stated that earlier this week she tried to speak to him and he was never available, this is a joke in itself since WE are how you make a living and pay your bills. Again epic fail for the 2 managers that I TRIED to have assist me, I also asked Mrs Kuklich to respond so there are more than one of us for you to contact if needed.

cold and overcooked food
We saw ad on tv for your broasted chicken. Four of us went for the chicken. Two of us ordered the 2pc and 3 ordered 3pc. When we were served the 2pcs were so small that I would have been ashamed to serve them. The 3pcs were so hard that they looked like they had been reheated and all the potatoes were cold and the gravy was so runny, it did not even look like gravy, it looked like broth from a can. For $13.00 for the 3pc and $9.99 for the 2pc it was a shame to pay these prices for the food we were served. From now on we will go across the street to Kentucky Fried and get bigger pcs and hotter food.
substitution of potatoes
We dined at Bob Evans in Norwalk, Ohio this evening and we love the roasted pot roast, but we don't like mashed potatoes. When we said we wanted to substitute the mashed potatoes for a sweet potato instead.she said NO she couldn't do that. WHY? We are senior citizens and dine there most frequently as do other seniors like us, As a matter of fact, the bigger percent of your business is probably senior citizens who keeps you in business. What's the big deal of substituting a sweet potato for the mashed pot.? We were very disappointed! Why should this request be a big burden ? We have eaten at B.E. in other towns and they were happy to accommodate us when we asked for the sweet potato substitution! Obviously the Norwalk, Ohio location has not gotten the word ! We will NOT dine there anymore!
Should have been an easy sub for them. Manager didn't get the message or just didn't care it seems.
a million black specks of something is in this product and it is not pepper.
I bought a Family Size Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes at Ingle's Grocery Store and it was unfit to eat. Millions of tiny black specks of something of various sizes were throughout this product plus the pieces that were definitely rotten places in it. This is disgusting! It is not Pepper! I don't know what it is maybe specks of black metal. I don't want any...

The Bob Evans Chicken & Noodles side dish purchased at Kroger Tylersville Rd., West Chester, OH last week was not the same as those previously purchased. When the film was removed after microwaving according to the directions revealed approximately 75% broth, 3 pieces of chicken, and very few, much thinner noodles. This was not like the side dishes of this product previously purchased or representative of the chicken and noodles served in our local Bob Evans restaurants. The use by date on the package is 8/3/14. The UPC code is [protected]. The Purchase date was 7/14/14. Cost $2.79. Date of use 7/16/14. I would like a refund of the purchase price or a coupon for a free side dish. Thank You.
Or better yet, go to krogers...say you were unhappy with the product. Kroger policy is a refund for any purchase that isn't a satisfying one. Im a Kroger Manager.
slow and no refills
We have been to this Bob Evans three times. The first time my husbands meal was not what he had ordered then when they did bring it the meal was cold. The second time we went we waited 30 minutes and when they brought the rolls you could smell and taste the yeast. My meal was cold. The third time we went my mom ordered a chicken pot pie after 10 minutes we was informed that they were out of chicken pot pies. The waiter asked if she needed a menu she said yes, it was never brought to her. I had to get one. We waited 50 minutes and still hadn't received our meals, or refills on our drinks. That day we walked out. There was other people walking out and complaining also.

cold food
Earlier this year I went to Bob Evans and received cold mashed potatoes and cold & hard biscuits. .
I mentioned the cold potatoes to the server.and the response: Someone else mention it earlier in the day--regarding the potatoes.
I very seldom send food back for fear of what will be the response from the cook and people complain just wanting free something. .

poor service & food
My family and I (party of 8) went there on April 20, 2014 for Easter Dinner, and I can honestly say that I have never had such a poor restaurant experience in my life.
Our wait to be seated was fairly significant (which is understandable due to the size of our party, and that we all desired to sit together), but not to worry, we had entertainment, as the hostess took this opportunity to elaborate on how sad it was that she had to work on Easter, and could not be at home with her five year-old daughter. And then went on to explain that her shift actually ended at four, but had to wait until eight for her husband, who is in back, cooking, to also get off of work. This kept us occupied while we received dirty looks from the staff, but as soon as we were seated, the troubles really began
Our waitress was apparently new, and there was no other wait staff helping her (even though she clearly was not ready to be out on her own). She was not at all familiar with the Bob Evan's menu selection and two people from our party were told that they cannot substitute sides. My brother-in-law had ordered the turkey meal, but did not want the carrots. He had requested to substitute cranberry sauce for the carrots and was told that he cannot because the cranberry sauce is just a little condiment cup and doesn't constitute a side. He finally said just don't put the carrots on the plate (as he did not want them, or another side) - so apparently it was alright to be a short a side, but forbid he have the cranberry sauce as side (even though he was would have been perfectly content with this).
We waited a significant amount of time for our food (in spite of the restaurant having cleared out by this point, with only a few tables remaining - ours being the only “large” party), and once it did arrive, it was completely disappointing.
I had ordered the Blackened Whitefish, which was so overpowered by the saltiness of the seasoning that I was not able to actually taste the fish or finish it. The seasoning was so strong that I could literally take a chunk of my plain (no salt) baked potato and dab it against the fish, and that was still too salty.
My husband ordered the Blackened Steak and he said that the meat itself had a poor texture, that it was swollen like it had been sitting in water.
My sister-in-law had ordered a steak (I'm unsure of the exact dish), but she was unable to eat it due to the overabundance of caraway seeds on her steak (the menu never mentioned the caraway), and of course, her husband was a side-short due to the refusal to substitute sides.
Before our meals had even arrived, we had needed refills - which we had to go ask for, and rarely saw our waitress (especially not when we actually needed anything). At this point, we had been in the store for nearly two hours - needless to say, the baby was getting fussy. Several of us had ordered meals that came with dessert, but the waitress was nowhere to be found even though my son was in a full-on cry at this point (which seems like an obvious queue that the table is really for the check or at least the next course).
No one from our table had complained about the service or food, but at this point, but I was growing increasingly unhappy. I found the manager (hanging out at the drink station with our waitress and other staff) and told him, "Our table needs help, we are not happy. We are not having a good time. The baby is crying, we need our check, dessert, something", and began to walk back to our table, thinking that he would follow. Eventually. Nope.
He went over, consulted w/some other staff members, and apparently must have sent our waitress to our table to take our dessert orders, because there she was. By this time, members of our party were standing, putting on their jackets, as they had already given up on the prospect of getting their dessert.
The waitress had asked what we wanted for dessert (as several of us had ordered the 3 course
meal), but was not sure who/how many were to receive dessert. When we had asked what were the options were, she said, "I don't really know. I guess we have sundae's (which was out of the question as we had already told her that we needed it to go, due to now screaming kid) and brownies and stuff".
We finally settled for the brownies, because that was the easier option. Now, I understand being new, I've worked as a waitress before, and am familiar with not knowing the ropes, menu or much of anything for that matter. But to not know, and for that to be alright is disappointing. If you coming over to the table specifically to take a dessert order and are not familiar with the selection, take a menu – how hard is it?!
At this point, the manager still never came to our table, so my brother-in-law went to him, requesting the corporate number. He was told that he would “get it”. We had time to gather our items, receive our check, etc. before the manager returned with the paper. No apology, no questions, no discussion. Just, “Here’s
the number “. Way to care, [censored].
So at this point, we have the check, and no one has offered anything to help make us feel better about the experience. Nothing. So we pay $80 some dollars for c****y food and horrible service (without being ugly or even complaining). That is a lot of money to pay for a meal that we didn’t even enjoy.
I can honestly say that this was THE worst dining experience in my life. I have never sent anything
back to the kitchen in my life, and I am the type of person that will still tip a lousy waiter(ess) well – but this was just totally unacceptable. I almost feel sorry for our waitress, I know it’s hard being new (although, that isn’t an excuse for a poor personality), but as far as management – I cannot think of enough adjectives to begin to tell you how negatively I fell about this store’s management (or the lack thereof).
No one made you take a management position, so the way I see it, step-up and do your job. If I’m managing a store and a customer comes over and tells me they are not happy, that means they need attention. They’ve come to me, that means they expect me to do something about it. Even small gestures such as discounts,
coupons or at least some kind words can help ease the sting of a bad encounter and reassure customers that this time was the rare exception, and not the rule.
I understand that no one wants to be working on Easter Sunday, but the bottom line is that, you are here. You can either enjoy that awesome family’s patronage (and generous tip) or you can ruin the meal for them. Since the Elkview store decided to opt for the later, I am writing this letter to you. I have never submitted a complaint to a restaurant before (and we’re talking hair in food, snotty attitudes and dirty conditions), but the treatment we received Sunday was just mind-blowingly horrible.
Sadly, this is a loss for everyone, as my husband and I were actually contemplating making a weekly treat for my family to dine at your store. We now have no desire or reason to return to the Elkview Bob Evan’s and will not recommend it to anyone as a result of the poor management. It is a loss for Bob Evans as we do have quite a large family (extended, as well as nuclear), and have frequented the restaurant when they come in from other states and countries. I would not feel comfortable bringing them this Bob Evans, as who knows what treatment they will receive.
I would like a response, if for no other reason than to let me know that our (dis)satisfaction is important to someone, as it sure the hell isn’t the Elkview Management.

Totally messed up information on gift card and then when trying to resolve through contact info for a resolve ... just kept giving me the run around with no resolve
Don't buy their gift cards very poor Quality control and even worse Customer Service ... sad
Sounds like you had a legitimately bad experience and should have left that restaurant without paying. I would caution that Blackened seasoning on any meal is extremely salty. And Bob Evans doesn't carry just caraway seeds. Caraway is in the blacked seasoning so there was probably some residual left on the grill. The server seemed overwhelmed, Bob Evans policy is 2 Servers or More at a Table with 7 or more people and Managers should be visiting EVERY table. That's what is supposed to separate Bob Evans. But Alas, Bob Evans puts a lot of tasks and requirements on their Managers and pays them 20% less than the industry standard so I feel bad for everyone involved. Bob Evans should have taken care of your bill, its the least they could have done.
cleanliness and food
On 8/9/2013 at around 6:00pm on our way back from Canada we stopped at Bob Evans Restaurant in Morgantown, WV for dinner. As we walked into the restaurant I could tell the porches have not been swept since they probably built the restaurant. But trying to give them the benefit of doubt we went inside. Walking to our table to be seated, my feet were steadily...

i visited your bob evans store on wednesday 7/24/2013, the food was great, the prices were ... fair. but after ordering our food, we heard screaming coming from the kitchen, alot of screaming and could hear it word for word she said "i'm going to bring a gun and blow your brains out", after that i asked our server who it was, and she said it was another server named Jacki Brummet, and she was talking to a manager who was there, i don't know about you but that made me and my family fear for our own lives, if this is the type of people you hire. either way, i've written many many complaints on many sites, and sent one into their corporate headquarters itself, and as just a precaution i've reported this terrorist threat to the police, hopefully they do something about this woman, i'd hate for her to serve my food. DO NOT GO TO LOGANSPORT bob evans unless you are ok with being shot.
unfair work policies
My husband, after working full time for Bob Evans Farms Restaurant for 19+ years, was told on Saturday that he would be dropped to part time at 29 hours a week with no benefits anymore! This is an outrageous way to take care of your long time employees! I will never and I do mean NEVER eat there again nor let any of my family or friends even consider eating there ever again!
My husband, after being employed by Bob Evans restaruants full time for the last 19 1/2 years was told on Saturday that he will be cut down to 29 hours a week and lose his benefits due to Obamacare! What kind of work place rewards its long time employees with a swift kick in the pants? BOB EVANS!

discribanation of seniors
The company is giving military discounts of 10o/o. Why not give seniors a discount. I know they give seniors in ohio discounts, they should give seniors with aarp cards the same discount, it is only fair. Yours, raymond onion

While dinning in the Bob Evans Farms a future employee was training on a laptop 2 seats back from us, video up very loud, making sounds like a bird hitting the wall behind us. How annoying it became! No one from the staff did something to stop him.
Maybe it was a training video and the employee had a hearing problem. Did you ask him to turn it down a bit?
poor quality
The waitress and the manager told me that the recipe for the meatloaf had been changed. The meatloaf that I ordered today was terrible, both in texture and taste.
It tasted as if it had been made of a fine ground meal and not meat. No meat taste at all. I have had this item several times at this same restaurant and liked it enough to continue ordering this meal, but unless you go back to the old recipe or another Good One I will never order it again.
The manager offered me a substitute or another item and I took it.
