Not the same country cookin'
The last 2 visits to Cracker Barrel have been a big disappointment. The hashbrown casserole is thicker sliced potatoes and fake cheese. The pancakes taste like instant mix made with water. And biscuits and gravy with no sausage in it? What happened to the concept of home cooking? How about shredded potatoes with real cheese and heavy homemade pancakes. I never heard of biscuits and gravy without the sausage in it. I won't be back unless I hear you have gone back to home cooking per media advertising. Prices are too high for fake food.

Dont get the wrong idea on this post! I went to Cracker Barrel on RT256 and interstate 70 yesterday. When the food came to my table the host seated an older couple with their DOG. You all know that is not allowed. I was pissed but didnt cause a ruckus. When I left I did let it be known I was not happy. I told them it was against rules for the dog to be in a place around food. Manager said it was a service dog. I then said did anyone as k for papers stating it was a service dog. The manager said they dont do that. I then said the dog should be wearing a vest for service dog, which it did not have.
I was told the dont check and dont stop any dog from being brought into the restaurant. I love dogs no problem ton that but rules are rules I wont go back.
Never go to a Cracker barrel again
This place was DIRTY, with terrible food! NASTY! We should have gotten up and left when we sat down at the dirty, sticky table with the dirty sticky gross menus we were handed! Chair next to be had gravy or some white slimy substance all over it too! Ordered our food, ten minutes later waitress came out to say they have no MASHED POTATOES left! I said then I want to change my order because Chicken Fried Chicken doesn't go with french fries! She said the order was already in, so we didn't have the choice of changing our order now! My chicken was dry, the french fries were greasy, the bowl of corn was cold, could it get any worse than this? My wife's Chicken N Dumplings were a bowl of tasteless mush! No texture whatsoever to the dumplings, mush is the best way I can describe them! When they told her as well they had no more mashed potatoes, she opted for a side of "Sausage Gravey" figured that would taste good over the four dried out biscuits they brought over to the table. YUCK! Nasty, tasted like paste with Ham Grease in it! No pork sausage, nothing but a white creamy substance that even the waitress was laughing at! The only thing even close to edible on the table was the Macaroni and Cheese and it was dried out but we picked at it like a couple of birds trying to get a little nutrition in our stomachs after a six-hour drive from Florida heading home to Michigan! I knew we should have gone to the Waffle House next door, but the wife insisted on Cracker Barrel because she said they have such a large selection of food! This was the most disgusting, gross, meal we have ever been served, we will never ever set foot in another Cracker Barrel in our lives and now I know why they let campers park in the back taking up all of the parking spaces for free, because that's the only way they are going to get people to come in there and eat this nasty stuff not fit for a dog! Even the gals at the front check out were laughing about our experience, they did offer to get the Manager and I was like whats the point? We weren't trying to get a free meal, we just wanted a fair hot meal with all the fixings like they advertise and instead we had the worse meal we have ever had at any restaurant in our entire life! Don't spend the $45.15 we gave you too quickly, because it is the last dime you will ever see from this customer, Cracker Barrel should be ashamed of themselves! Cracker barrel gift card
My wife and I travel a lot and usually stop at cracker barrel for lunch and dinner. We got a gift card for christmas and scratching off the pin number was a disaster. Have sent in 2 inquiries since january. There website states I would get an answer within 5 business days. It also has on the site to clip on a inquiry that would handle gift card problems whether they are loss, stolen or pin number problems. I had the pin number problem but it kept asking me for the card number and pin! There chat line has been unavailable all year and the phone numbers they give you does not transfer over to a real person to talk to. The better business bureau had me talk to a consumer advocate lawyer for advice. As of today feb 9th I have heard from nobody.
Recommendation: do not get gift card from Cracker Barrel. The corporation is nothing but a frustrating headache.
Makes me sad
The Cracker Barrel on Craig Rath Blvd. in Midlothian, Va used to be a wonderful place to eat many years ago. We always enjoyed taking the whole family there. We went out last night again after staying away for quite a while, hoping that maybe things were getting better. What a sad experience. Our wait person looked like he just wanted to go home. Our drinks were wrong. There were 4 of us and 3 got their food way before the last person. She had ordered a pot pie and the waiter basically said the kitchen forgot to fix it. It did finally come. The food was okay. We eat at other Cracker Barrel restaurants all around Virginia when we travel and they are all better than this one.
Recommendation: Spend your money somewhere else
Last straw
We ate at the Johnson City location. We were taken to our table within seconds. the wife sat down and the seat was soaked. The waitress apologized and said they seated us before she could clean the area. She also told us the customer before us spilled her drink.
I ordered a hamburger steak, and my wife ordered the turkey dinner. My meal came with very little gravy and was not cooked as ordered. The Okra tasted like to was deep fried twice.
My wife's turkey was so dry it looked like the shin was left on. Look like dried up leather.
Sorry Cracker Barrel but we will never be back at any of your restaurants.
Recommendation: steer clear or go to McDonalds
Worst meal ever
My husband and I have eaten at the Cracker Barrel in Sherman TX during our trips to that area for several years. This past week we were served the worst lunch we have ever eaten there and probably won't go back for a second helping. The chicken and dumplings looked like they had been thrown into the bowls from several feet away. The bowl was messy and the dumplings were doughy and tasteless. The pinto beans were scorched. The cornbread was cold. Like from the refrigerator cold. We were charged more than $30 for a meal that was basically inedible except for the turnip greens. The next time we are in Sherman we will look for a new favorite restaurant. No more CB.

Went to Cracker Barrel in Mebane Saturday Sept 2nd 6:00 got seated as soon as we got there party of 13 the waitress was great got our drinks took our order but 2 of the party never got their food at all - the rest of the family was threw eating and those two were sitting there with no food then I think one of the mangers came out finally to ask if everything was ok so I said no they never got their food - she started running around saying she was going to put it in a to go box for them but after them watching the rest of the family eat they were not real happy to have a to go box - so she was told no they did not want the food she just insisted that they were going to take the food but my brother in law finally got tough and told her NO WE DO NOT WANT THE FOOD! I realize there was right many people in our party but this is wrong and the whole family is very disappointed - we will never go again- what a shame such a once wonderful place to go enjoy is no longer enjoyable! We were there last week and some of us had their food and then they came out and said they did not have some of the stuff that was ordered and my family had to change their order and wait for the food again there were 7 of us at the time this happen - this is very unacceptable to me - I love this place but will not be going back.

I mean, come on, it's Thanksgiving! You gotta give us a little more than that. And the prices are a bit steep for what you get. But, I gotta admit, their country store is pretty cool. I love browsing through all the old-fashioned candy and toys. And their rocking chairs are so comfy, I could sit in them all day. Plus, they have some pretty good deals on their website. I recently bought a cute little Christmas decoration for my front porch and it arrived super fast. Overall, I'd say Cracker Barrel is worth checking out, just don't expect huge portions on the holidays.
Cracker Barrel's New Online Ordering System: A Real Horror Story
I gotta tell ya, I've been trying to use Cracker Barrel's new online meal ordering system for two whole nights now, and it's been a real doozy of a time. I mean, if it wasn't so darn sad, it would actually be kinda funny. But honestly, it's gone way beyond sad and funny and straight into the realm of horrific and hilarious.
Now, I live just a couple miles away from the restaurant, and I've eaten there plenty of times before. But since I've become disabled, I've gotta have my meals delivered to me. So I'm talking specifically about the online ordering and delivery system here. And let me tell ya, I can't even really comment on the delivery part, because after two whole nights and a total of four hours spent trying to get a food order to actually go through and be transported to my home, I still haven't had any success.
Last night, after two hours of trying and failing, I was so dang angry at the incompetence of it all. And tonight, after another two hours of trying and still no success, I'm just plain tired, worn out, and hungry. What in tarnation has happened to our good old American companies? Have the Chinese taken over our good restaurants too, along with our voting machines? I mean, I highly doubt it, 'cause even the Chinese wouldn't mess it up this bad!
So here's my challenge to all y'all out there: try to create an online account with Cracker Barrel's Edmond, Oklahoma location, and then attempt to order one adult meal and one child meal, and have it successfully delivered to your home in Edmond, Oklahoma. And don't even worry about your credit card being compromised, 'cause you'll never even get that far in the process to see if the payment went through.
All in all, I gotta say that I'm pretty dang disappointed with Cracker Barrel's new online ordering system. It's a real shame, 'cause I used to love their food and their service. But if they can't even get their online ordering system to work properly, then I don't know what to think. Maybe I'll just have to stick to cooking my own meals from now on.
Cracker Barrel's Online Store: Good Products, Terrible Ordering System and Customer Service
I've been trying to order some gifts online from Cracker Barrel for the second time now. The products are pretty good, but their ordering system is just terrible! Let me tell you about it.
First of all, there's no field to type in a short message when you order gifts. You know, like "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Birthday! From XYZ". That's a bummer, right?
But it gets worse. You can't choose different shipping addresses for different items in the same order. Nope, you have to complete different orders for each shipping address. That's just ridiculous! Other online stores, like Harry and David, have that option.
But wait, there's more. Their system may actually alter the shipping address after you print out your order confirmation. I kid you not, this happened to me. I got an order confirmation saying the item would be sent to one address, but it was actually sent to the billing address instead. And when I went to the website, it showed my husband's name and address in the "Ship to" field. So the order confirmation I printed out didn't match what their website showed.
And if you think it can't get any worse, think again. Trying to contact them by phone is a nightmare. They don't have a "chat" feature on their website, so all you can do is send them a written message. And when you call them, you'll wait in line for hours and then the call just gets disconnected. This happened to me twice, on different days. On my last call, after waiting for a very long time, a recording told me their system had a problem and I should call later. It was so frustrating! But on my third attempt, I was finally allowed to dial in my return call number.
Now, I don't want to be all negative. There are some good points about Cracker Barrel's online store. For one, the products are good. And when I was finally able to leave a call back number (on my third attempt), they actually called me back in about an hour. And once you're actually able to talk to someone, they're willing to solve the problem.
Overall, I'd give Cracker Barrel's online store two stars. The products are good, but the ordering system and customer service need some serious improvement.

My significant other was billed for a sprite that never showed up and the order was wrong. I didn't get the spicy grilled catfish, she brought out fried catfish billed us anyway leaving out the hush puppies. The ice was melted and she never apologized.
Usually the service is much better. The customer is right. No arguments. She was probably very busy. It's a favorite place to go. The server botched my entire meal. I would like a gift card or discount off 1 order to make up for the billing.

On Wednesday, 11-22-2023, my mom went out to eat at Cracker Barrel CB0544 in Columbia TN. She wanted a piece of pecan pie and I was ordering a piece of chocolate pecan pie to take to my aunt who at the time was in the hospital. I also was ordering my mom the fried chicken and mac and cheese to take home. We were informed that these were being held for Thanksgiving, 11-23-2023. Tents were on the tables advertising these as available. Was this standard operating procedure for all Cracker Barrels on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or just the one that was closest to us?

Thanksgiving dinner order for 8-10 11/22/23 pickup
I ordered Thanksgiving Dinner for 8-10 persons from the Cracker Barrel in Valrico, Fl and picked it up on Wednesday at noon from the restaurant. I am a regular customer of this Cracker Barrel Restaurant and so I was quite disappointed in my order. Specifically, the sides were not good. The mashed potatoes were soupy, the cornbread dressing not good, sweet potato casserole not good. I threw out almost all of the sides. The biscuits were not acceptable and uneaten. On 11/5/23, I pre-ordered 8-10 Thanksgiving feast. Of which, I paid over $160.
11/23/23, stood in line for over 2 hours. Finally, received our partial order (due to restaurant ran out of food, and poorly organized). Refrigerator unit barely had any food left. Staff was in a rush to just provide any food available. Never received sweet potato casserole. Was told "they are out and trying to cook more". We didn't receive a drink. Turkey was pre-cut (over cooked and dry), mashed potatoes were under cooked, and dry.
All and all this 2023 Thanksgiving meal was very disappointing. We will not be returning to Cracker Barrel next year for a Thanksgiving meal.
