I received several promotions offers thru mail to open a Citi Miles Ahead Savings Account for AAdvantage cardmembers to earn bonus miles. Each time I tried to open an account by following the directions and web address provided. Each time there was no way to start the account. I then called customer service several times and opened an account over the phone. each time saying, I would receive info and debit card thru mail. Never received any.. A few days ago went onto my citi bank login and there was a new opened saving account. I called customer service and said I never received the welcome pack with the debit card. they said it was sent out on March 17 2022, I told them I never received it and verified all my info again. The agent said I will receive a new card in a few days! I told her I have to deposit the money within the 30 day limit or the offer is no good. I asked for a note be added on that i never received my card. She said there is nothing she can do . Today I tried to go into my Citi Bank online login and I am blocked out of my credit card account and saving account. I spent over a hour on the phone and said that i can not use my online account till i receive the new debit card, including my credit card account... CRAZY STAY AWAY FROM CITI BANK! Its a SCAM!
Desired outcome: The BANK BE FINED FOR ITS SCAM PRACTICES
I had the same issue with trying to open an account recently.
I had a very similar experience trying to open the Miles Ahead Savings Account after receiving many post cards from Citi touting this offer. The customer service experience with the rep on the phone when I opened the account was one of the worst banking experiences I've ever had but I powered through because I wanted to earn the American Airlines points. I finally did get the account opened but never got a debit card so it took me several calls to address this so I could link it with my Citi credit card. I was supposed to earn 40K "AAvantage bonus miles" after keeping the account open for 90 days. I'm at 120 days open and I never received the points. I had to call and was informed a promotion code was needed. The rep on the phone was able to get that code and add it to my account. Why the code was not already part of my account is a mystery but I was told I SHOULD have the miles deposited within a week. What an unorganized mess this promotion is/was.
This 'promotion' seems like a fraud, or at least a bait and switch, because I never got the miles that was promised in the promotion. I waited 16 months and still not a single mile credited to my AAdvantage account
The Citi Miles ahead savings account promotion is a fraud. After 14 months of having the required balance, I still don't have a single AA mile from this damn thing. The robotic human customer service was no help.
It took many months and customer service calls to eventually get my miles.
