Zero percent promotion
I purchased some furniture from Big Lots 2 years ago for $2,500. They offered zero percent financing for 2 years. I set up automatic payments on Comenity's website of $100 per month. All of my payments were made on time.
Apparently I made a mistake about when my last payment was due. I had a balance remaining of $100 to pay it in full at the time of this complaint.
When I saw that my statement balance had increased by $1,272 I immediately went to the website to see what wrong. I thought perhaps my card had been compromised. When I looked at the most recent statement (I signed up for paperless statements) I realized that the sudden balance increase was deferred interest.
I immediately called Comenity to pay the remaining $100 and have the huge interest charge reversed. They refused. They told me my June statement contained a notice that the promotion period would end next month (July).
I have no reason to look at my paperless statements because I always make my payments on time.
Although I received a typical monthly email notice stating when my next payment was due, I never received any notification that the promotion period was coming to an end.
I admit I miscalculated the pay off period . I rectified it as soon as I realized the mistake.
As an aside, I was also hospitalized with serious heart issues around the time the June statement was issued. I was unable to keep up with my usual focus financial duties even though all of my monthly bills are paid automatically.
The deferred interest charge is almost 50% which is outrageous. It's as though they lied in wait like a predator waiting to pounce. They should have sent an email warning that the promotion period was ending in addition to the notice on the paperless statement.
Desired outcome: Reverse the interest charge of $1,272.30.
Comenity Bank Payment not Applied
Maurices/Comenity misapplied my payment and refuses to credit my account. Payment mailed April 11, 2023 (paper check) Payment cleared my bank 4/21/23 (credit card company processed without returning the check to the bank) When the May 2023 statement appeared with the unpaid amount I contacted Maurices via phone (call reference 2582). 5/10/23 received letter from Maurices/Comenity that they received my claim and were researching. 5/29/23 received letter from Maurices/Comenity they need more information 6/7/23 I provided Maurices/Comenity a) screen shot from my bank statement showing payment to them cleared 4/21/23 b) US Bank Trace ID for the transaction c) US Bank Transaction code (sent via their on line) secured message system 6/8/23 received acknowledgement from Maurices/Comenity of the submitted documents via their secured message system.
Desired outcome: Credit my account in full, remove any late fees, correct any negative reports to credit reporting agencies and a written apology.
Promotion
I had a promotion through Jared jewelers a last June 2022.. I paid my balance each month and new the promo ended at the end of June. I could not access my account to see what date it was due. I couldn’t get into transactions, called a few times, no help. They told me big Red lines were shown across the transaction page to alert me the promo was ending. But I could not access the transactions so I didn’t know the date. I also believed the date was changed because jewelry was being returned to be fixed again n again. I was charged $500 and disputed the charge they said no and are continuing to charge interest also. Please advise. I have excellent credit. I’ve never had a late payment in my 70 years. Thank you
Desired outcome: Erase $500 promotional fee
Autopay services
I have 5 different accounts that all have autopay set up. They keep saying the bank declined the charges, twice each month and hitting me with late fees and over the limit fees. My bank has no record of them ever presenting any charges. The money is there! It has impacted my credit negatively and I’m furious. I have thrown my hands in the air and now the problem is so bad I can’t afford to get the accounts current.
I have talked to customer service, including supervisors, to no avail. I have written emails and even contacted the BBB about this practice.
And I’m forced to pay late fees and over the limit fees because there is clearly an issue with their payment center. HELP!
Desired outcome: Refund of all fees and fix the situation, I’ll be happy to pay what I actually charged!
Credit cards (alphaeon)
What a nightmare! Never buying anything from LaserAway again via this company and staying away from Laseraway PERIODT because anyone going into business with this company has terrible judgment. Not only do they make it IMPOSSIBLE to pay them, once you actually manage to create an account online, not a SINGLE payment method words. Not the minimum payment, not auto-pay, not even paying the balance in FULL. Each one of their payment methods return either a 403 or a 500 server error, and as someone working in tech I KNOW that this is 100% terrible developers and even worse (or non-existent) QA. Unless you want to burn through hours of your time and frustration each month to send them a single payment, for the love of god do what's good for you and skip this company altogether. Reporting these clowns to the SEC because this company and their website is BEYOND amateur hour. If you're taking people's payment information and personal data, your website needs to be so on point. I can only imagine the data leaks that will come from this clown company, because if they can't even ensure they get their own money, imagine how they ensure your personal data.
Desired outcome: Go bankrupt
Kay jewelers credit account
Resorting to complaints or 3rd party validation sources is not typically my preferred course of action. However I have exhausted every reasonable effort to resolve concerns with Comenity : Kay Jewelery and continue to get the runaround.
Account was to have minimums reset for April to $o payments $44 monthly no interest no late fees.
Company failed to correct costing me thousands in lost credit through their unethical reporting as late for not just April but May June and July as well none of which physically or fiscally impossible as I paid $110 am not due until 21 and they advised repeatedly they remove all lates and past due this never happened now clearance flagged and home loan approval on hold
They ignored arbitration and legal requests entirely
Desired outcome: Immediately remove all lates from credit correct monthly payment to $44 apply credit for the thousands you cost me
It would not lert me remove but the company went above and beyond to correct their error
Automatic payment did not go through and rejected every purchases
I set up an automatic payment to pay in full one week before the due day after I received the first statement from Comenity on 5/23/2023. I received a 'delinquency' and Comenity rejected all my purchases today (6/24/2023). I have much more funds to cover than purchases in May/June in my bank. I called the customer service and the agent told me I could not buy anything until two months cycle. I sent three security messages through their website. The first one disappeared, and Comenity sent an email to my second message: "It looks like you tried to send us a message through Secure Message Center. Unfortunately, a technical glitch occurred and we did not receive your message." I sent it the third time and paid the full balance. I did not have any problem setting automatic payments (Chase, Citi, CapitalOne, etc) and never realize how AAA selected Comeniy as their credit insurer. I am very disappointed.
Desired outcome: Please amend my problems.
Think Twice Before Using Comenity: A Review of Their Credit Policies
Comenity is a credit company that you might want to think twice about using. If you happen to miss a payment, they will reduce your credit. This can be a real pain in the neck if you're trying to build up your credit score. It's probably best to go with a company like Citibank instead. Trust me, it's not worth the hassle of dealing with Comenity.
Comenity: A Nightmare to Deal With - Avoid at All Costs
Comenity ain't no joke, man. They don't care about you or your problems. If you make a mistake, they'll come after you like a pack of wolves. They're just out to get your money, no matter what. I had a bad experience with them and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Their website is confusing as heck, too. It's like they don't want you to understand what you're signing up for. And if you do make a mistake, good luck trying to get it fixed. Their customer service is a joke. They don't care about your problems and they'll just give you the runaround.
I've heard horror stories about people getting screwed over by Comenity. They'll charge you all kinds of fees and interest rates that you never agreed to. And if you try to dispute it, they'll just ignore you or tell you it's your fault.
Honestly, I don't know why anyone would do business with Comenity. There are plenty of other companies out there that actually care about their customers. Don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid Comenity at all costs.
Comenity Review: Unfair Interest Charges and Lack of Transparency - Stay Away!
Comenity is not a good place to do business with. They will charge you interest even if the store says you have 12 months to pay without any interest. This is not fair and it can really hurt your wallet. You might think you are getting a good deal, but in reality, you are not.
I had a bad experience with Comenity and I would not recommend them to anyone. They are not transparent about their fees and charges, and they do not care about their customers. They only care about making money, even if it means taking advantage of people who are trying to save money.
If you are looking for a credit card or financing option, I would suggest looking elsewhere. There are many other companies out there that are more honest and transparent about their fees and charges. Don't fall for the trap of Comenity and their false promises of interest-free financing.
In conclusion, stay away from Comenity. They are not a trustworthy institution and they will only cause you headaches and financial problems. Look for other options that are more reliable and honest. Don't let Comenity take advantage of you and your hard-earned money.
Stay Away from Comenity Bank: A Disappointing Experience
Comenity is like, not a good company to deal with. I'm finding out more and more how bad they are as time goes by. Like, seriously, I wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone. It's just not worth it.
Comenity Bank Review: High Interest Rates and Rip-Off Fees
Comenity Banks is one of those banks that will make you feel like you're getting ripped off. Their interest rates are sky high, with the lowest being 16%. And let's not even talk about the highest rate, because who knows what that is. If you're looking for a bank that won't take advantage of you, then you should definitely steer clear of Comenity.
Stay Away from Comenity.net: Unfair Credit Report and Poor Customer Service
Comenity.net is a real letdown, let me tell you. I had a problem with their system and it took me five whole phone calls just to get someone to help me out. And even then, it was no use. They gave me an unfair bad report and decreased my credit line by a huge amount. It's just not right, you know? I wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone. Stay away if you know what's good for you.
Stay Away from Comenity: My Negative Experience with Their Credit Card Services
Comenity is a credit card company that I personally do not recommend. I have had a bad experience with them and I would not want anyone else to go through the same thing. They have sold their debt to collection agencies that are not reputable and it has caused me a lot of stress. I will never do business with them again and I suggest that you stay away from them as well.
Terrible Customer Service Experience with Comenity: 20 Minutes on Hold with No Entertainment
So, I had to call Comenity because my credit card company got a new owner, and boy was it a bad experience. I was on hold for a whole 20 minutes, and there wasn't even any music or anything to keep me entertained. I don't even know if I'm still connected to them or not. It's like they don't even care about their customers.
Late Payments on Credit Report
I understand my financial obligations, I’d had an excellent repayment record with Buckle. I made a mistake in falling behind, but when I realized it I immediate took action and paid my whole balance.
I’m planning to apply for a mortgage, and it’s come to my attention that the missed payments (November/December 2022) on my credit report will hurt my ability to qualify. I truly believe these missed payments don’t reflect my creditworthiness and commitment to repaying my debts. It would help me immensely if you could give me a second chance and make a goodwill adjustment to remove the late payments for November and December 2022).

Fraudulently charging my account and not reimbursing the money owed
I made a purchase of $101.52 from the HOUZZ company in June 2022. I immediately returned the purchase and never received a refund for the return. Instead, Comenity Bank charged me interest and nonpayment. I did not see this charge until September when Comenity Bank posted payment for over $200.00 even though I did not make any more purchases. I called the bank, and they told me to call HOUZZ. After contacting HOUZZ, they said that the money was sent to Comenity Bank and they should refund the money. Instead, Comenity Bank kept the money and added interest to my account. They are now saying that I owe $35.00. I request that a check in the amount of $101.52 be sent to me to reimburse the refunded sum that Comenity Bank currently holds. Additionally, I request that the $35.00 late charges be waived since it is wrongly imposed on me. It is disconcerting to receive threats regarding my credit over a late fee that I should not be responsible for, particularly when Comenity Bank still owes me the refund amount. The Bank promised in December 2022 and again in May 2023 to take at least 90 days to look into the situation. On both occasions, they wrote two weeks later saying that I owe $35.00, and they made threats to report to the credit bureau. I feel harassed by their threats and their misrepresentation of the truth. A year passed, and they keep going back and forth with promises and lies. After all this time without the bank refunding my money, it is obvious to me that it is a scam. I have given all paperwork and proof to Comenity Bank and to Houzz.
Desired outcome: I request that a check in the amount of $101.52 be sent to me to reimburse the refunded sum that Comenity Bank currently holds. Additionally, I request that the $35.00 late charges be waived since it is wrongly imposed on me.
Comenity aaa credit card

Can't register online as account frozen.
Re:card [protected]
Sorry to use this method to contact you, but customer service for the AAA credit card was not helpful
On 4/22/23 the card was declined at a gas station and the hotel.
Was quite embarrassed
I called customer service at the beginning of the week
I spoke to Charlie and Edward
My wife and I had trouble understanding them.
They had access to my account using account number and last 4 digits of SS#. They were definitely not in United Stares
They told me someone called and requested a new card so the account was frozen..
I never received any communication about this.
No e-mail or text to confirm or inform me I was being issued new card.
Account bill due 5/16/23 as of today I have not received current bill. I called to get payment information.
I paid it to current frozen card number.
I Still haven't received a new card or any correspondence.
I was transferred to the fraud dept where your representative refused to let me give her my account number or any information until I gave her my date of birth.
It seems that out of country call center has easier access to my account easier than the fraud dept.
Why was my card declined?
Why was I never informed?
Where is the replacement card.
Something is wrong with companies procedures.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter

Horrible and insufficient customer service
On May 3, I called Comenity about my Caesers Rewards Visa, I let them now I was going to New York & would be using my card for payment while in NYC. In NYC, I attempt to make a purchase & my card is declined. I call Comenity & go through their Fraud steps, they confirm its me, they tell me they have unlocked my account. I wait approx 30 min & use my card again & it is again declined. I called them back to see what was going on again & I am told their fraud department needs to send me a code. I wait a few minutes and I have not received anything and they tell me they sent it again. I get the code and give it to them. I am told the code doesnt match and my account has been PERMANENTLY CLOSED due to fraud.. They tell me there is nothing they can do, I have no other options to prove I am me, NOTHING. I have an 791 credit score, never a later payment, and just like that they permanently closed my account and tell me they cant reopen it. What I believe happened is when the woman resent the code the second time she actually sent a different code. After I got off the phone with them I saw I had received a SECOND message with a different code. I was NEVER told they would be sending a DIFFERENT code when they resent it nor did I have anyway to know when I received the first code that it was not the code they wanted since it was the first code I saw I received before I saw I was sent a second code.
I was never told if you get this wrong while standing in the middle of NYC without payment options, trying to figure out what is going on with your account that we are going to PERMANENTLY CLOSE your account.
Mind you I had already confirmed my name, address, phone number, last 4 of ss number, last 2 payment amounts and the bank information those payments came from but apparently that wasn't enough information to confirm it was me.
I asked to speak to a Manager and was connected to "Jose" who was rude, unhelpful, basically told me they were a bank and could do whatever they wanted and they werent going to open my account back up. I could have sent them photo ID or other options if they had fraud concerns. I will be contacting the FTC, AG, and Caesers as well.
Desired outcome: Need my account reopened and their customer support team needs to be reviewed and improved upon
Comenity Bank--Credit Card Closure
On Feb 26,2023 after my CC was denied, I called Comenity Bank to find out what was the problem. They replied that it was due to security concerns. They request that I send them photocopies of my driver's license, social security card and a bill with my street address on it. I immediately sent the information they requested. If I had been traveling, I would have been in deep trouble!
On 3/6/23 I received a letter from them stating that there were still security issues, and they were closing my account! There are only two reasons why my account was closed,
1.) I made two payments in the same billing cycle or,
2.) Age decimation, as I had just turned 70!
I am in the process of contacting AAA and filing a complaint against Comenity Bank and the Attorney General of the State of Maine.
I urge all AAA credit card holders to close their accounts and notify AAA for the reason why. If you are having issues with Comenity Bank, take the same actions as I am.
Desired outcome: Have Comenity Bank investigated for questionable business practices.
