garbage at storefront
The Crunch FItness location in Greenpoint Brooklyn is a corner property that enjoys storefront exposure on both Manhattan Avenue and Calyer Street, the entrance being on Calyer. It is the responsibility of every business to keep the sidewalk in front of their business clean, but Crunch Greenpoint does not tend it's sidewalk, particularly on the Calyer side of it's location. One must tread through piles of broken bottles, plastic bags, and discarded food to reach the entrance around the corner on the Avenue. I politely asked the store management if they would please clean it when I was a member, but to this day no one every has. Please clean the sidewalk on ALL areas of your storefront Crunch!
unauthorized credit card charges, ripoff, lies & very rude people works there
Do not trust any Crunch gym. They rip people off. They want U too pay more if U want to go other Crunch gym, if U are going vacation in other town or states.
If U join do not charge your membership to credit card. Save yourself from
headache later. This is a franchise Company. They don't care about members, they only want your money. The worst gym & the people that works there are rude, bad attitude. If U talk to customer service or mgmt, the
attitude enough to make your blood boil. They couldn't care less, & don't have time for U. They listen 1 ear in, the other ear out.
force you share weight machine
I was doing my regular workout today when another member wanted to share the machine I was on and I said no because I was already set up with my towel he went to the manager called Teresa Alicea in Washington Ave. Miami Beach and she forced me to share the machine so I decided to cancel my membership which I think is very unfair.. I've been in that gym for so many years and having to cancel for a non sense manager bad judgement and common sense, I think it should be voluntary if you want to share your machine with a stranger.
Unauthorized credit card charges
On August 30, 2017 I went into the gym to canceled my membership. I was told that since I did not go in 10 days prior to my next payment that I still had to pay for the month of September. I did not have a problem with that, but on October 3rd, my account was charged for the month off October, I called the Crunch Fitness in Parkland and I was told that it would be refund back into my account in 3 to 5 b days. I waited the following week on October 9th, I called again and spoke with the manager, he told me that the money will be in my account by the end of the week, nothing yet. Here I am again calling them again since Monday October 16th, left messages for the manager, no call back. I called again yesterday Tuesday October 17th, no call back. Still no refund. They are the worst! I will be going there today in person, .
Here is what happened to me. This gym becoming known for cleaver coaching schemes. This is the perfect "clever schemes" fitness center.
The Crunch Fitness completes their contracts on a computer, which is read by one of their coaching staff. Not management. You are looking at the back of the computer and expected to sign an electronically signature pad for the computer contract. This is similar to how you sign a credit card receipt.
The staff will read the contract in a way that leaves out very important legal paragraphs on when, how, and other timeframes to cancel that contract to benefit the client (you, the consumer). It’s intended to hook you into a coaching commitment or gym membership.
They will tell you that you will get an email copy of the contract, but know that email copy is AFTER you have already signed the contract.
You will have to stand your ground to get your contract cancelled and you will have to take an entire morning out of your busy schedule to get this done. It is not an easy task, especially if you sign a contract, especially for a coaching contract.
I tried to cancel my personal training contract on July 16, 2023 with Haley Cole within three days after it was first signed and emailed because there was a discrepancy on the contract and what I was originally told. What I was told was not even on the paperwork. The request for cancellation was rejected, my questions regarding what was on the contract and what was actually told to me was never answered. TK, the manager was personally handed to him the cancellation notice; nor did he act on it.
I finally walked in to cancel my contract on September 27,2023.
I requested and signed the cancellation form, September 27,2023. My credit card is being charged for services not used. Since then there have been two attempts to charge my credit card for services not rendered.
Finally, a complaint was filed with the BBB. The case was closed because of failure of Crunch Fitness to respond.
Update:
It
I was told that I would receive credit for the money I was charged on my credit card, which Crunch fitness owes me $416.00. I never received the refund or received services for which I a currently being charged.
One day after visiting Crunch Fitness, my credit card became missing. I quickly reported the lost/stolen credit card to my financial institution. Regardless that the credit card was cancelled, Crush Fitness has been denied those charges with my report stolen credit card that range anywhere from 3 to 4 times a week. This has been occurring for four months now with charges ranging from $208.00, $96.00 or $64.32 on a weekly basis.
Additionally, I have not had any contact with Crunch Fitness such as an email, calls, or letter.
Furthermore, note for record; Crunch Fitness was given a hand written notice of cancellation two weeks after I originally signed up. The Gym manager ignored my first request to cancel and apparently failed to initiate the cancellation. I kept getting a statement saying I would get a credit to use the gym and any explanation to keep gaslighting me.
I too joined back May 2017 the gym was to open the next month in new location. I saw my schedule not changing and so I canceled membership 14 days before June payment was due and still was charged for July 2017. One front desk told me to go ahead and use the gym for the month of June since they bill ahead, plus they took the $39.99 annual fee out of my account.. I paid $60.00 and went to the gym 4 times., After at least 6 calls to Manager A.J. he told me I would get my $9.95 refund, then 5 calls with other rude staff, being hung up on, and it's November 2017 I still do not have just the $9.95 back. DO NOT SIGN WITH Crunch gym. Crunch will take your money.
If they do not refund you you can always attempt to file a dispute with your credit card company.
In reply to filing a complaint with the financial institution, Crunch Fitness is still using my credit card even though the bank cancelled my credit card.
As a side note: I canceled my contract with both the gym and personal trainer as required. The personal trainer contract expired 4 to 6-weeks at the time I cancelled my contract.
One day after visiting Crunch Fitness, my credit card became missing. I quickly reported the lost/stolen credit card to my financial institution. This has been occurring for four months now with charges ranging from $208.00, $96.00 or $64.32 on a weekly basis. These changes are denied, Crunch fitness continues to make unauthorized charges to a credit card that is no longer valid.
Additionally, I have not had any contact or communication from Crunch Fitness such as an email, calls, or letter.
talked down to when trying to get a membership at crunch
I signed up on line for a free day pass to check out the crunch on alton rd, miami florida. I went in the gym, showed gil kennedy who works there my email received from crunch with my free pass yet he refused it saying that ive been a member there before and so I cannot use the pass. No where on the pass from the internet does it say "previous members are not allowed this pass", I was a member 4 years ago and wanted to work out before joining to see how I feel there again, check out the equipment etc. Gil did not allow me that. I inquired about the rate and it was too much for me to join at that particular time, being that I did not work for 2 weeks because of hurricane irma so I didn't take gil's offer. 2 weeks later I returned to join with the rate gil told me. I got gil kennedy again. He refused to give me the offer he told me last time I was there. As I was pleading with him to please let me have the previous $10 less offer, he became upset of my pleads and pretty much told me this is the offer take it or leave. I left crunch gym feeling mistreated, talked down to, unfairly not given what it was my right of a free work out to check out the gym equipment, and like I was not wanted at this gym and all because of gil kennedy, membership director. I was happily looking forward to join crunch again, it would of been a win win situation for me because I wanted to start my work out routine and get back in shape as well as for the crunch alton road gym, because there is a lot of gym competition in the area of south beach. I am shocked of how gil kennedy is a membership director with the way he treats potential members of crunch gym.
membership
Crunch,
Last week I visited your Crunch fitness location in Bellmore, NY and discussed a membership with one of your agents. My wife, daughter and son-in-law go to Crunch and have been advising me to leave Planet Fitness where I have been a member for many years because this gym is closer to home.
Upon my visit I was told there would be no Startup fee, $9 a month and then a maintenance fee after two months. I was also told I could have a free week’s trial. I told the agent their I was going to finish the month with Planet Fitness, leave work early Monday and sign up.
I did just that but the agent today said I have to pay an additional $69 Star up fee?! I asked why and that I just went through this with another agent… I’m out of work early, home, dressed, looking forward to starting as I just canceled my Planet Fitness Membership a few days prior and now you want to charge more money, Are you Friggin Kidding Me! Sorry, can’t help you, the deal is over ... is all I got.
I knew I shouldn’t have canceled with Planet Fitness who will bend over backwards for a member… especially a new member!
equipment not working
at the crunch location in Valrico Florida(Bloomingdale) you have 19 TV's to watch while you are working out.2 of them are missing 3 have no sound and now 3 of them have what you call Crunch TV. this means there 10 left for members to use. these TV's have not worked right in many months. the Sauna in the men's locker room several times a week is not turned on or shuts off for whatever reason. when you have to go to the front desk to have it turned on if you want to use it you have to wait for it heat up which is a waste of time. there are equipment that hasn't worked right in a long time. there is one person who works the front desk named Gus. he always greets you when you come into the gym and if you report something wrong to him he goes right a way to check it out. this is the only person at the front desk that does this the rest of them are too busy talking to each other or having a personal phone call to even greet you. I have been a member for maybe 2 years and besides Gus and a lady named Debbie who cleans no other employee has taken the time to even say Hello. I work out 2 times for a total of 5-6 hours I have 68 pounds gone from 48 inch waist to a 36 on my own. the point I am trying to make is i do not know how many trainers you have but never have any of them even try to give advice or help. the only reason i have not found a different gym to work out at is location your gym is less than 5 minutes from my house. I have lost count how many general managers you have had since I joined the gym but none them have proven to be effective or able to do their job. the current GM Jeff is all smiles but when you report something wrong to him it is like talking to a brick wall NOTHING is done. you debit my credit card every month i come twice a day to work out I don't cause any trouble all I am asking is get the TV fit the audio plug-ins so when you plug in your headset you can get sound and please turn on the Sauna everyday. I do not think I am asking too much.as I sad you debit my credit card every month please give me what I pay for Thank You for your timr Adrian Morris
signed up and was ok then was switched to a different training who did nothing and never set me up for anything
didn't get what i signed up for, told them and they did nothing, told them i wanted to end and be done with them . i got no training in over a month, was taken into and office by 3 people and was told i couldn't leave the company they said i had no choice but to go to a lower cost program. i said no but they said i had no choice, after i had no choice i tried to quit and was told i could, an hour later i get a call about the paper the 3 guys forced me to sign were i couldn't quit, i told them i was done, i got nothing for over a month but paid for that month. now because they forced me to switch to a lower program i have to pay for 2 more months but not getting any training and no help from crunch but they are taking the money. they are holding me to a forced contract but they failed to complete there side of the contract when i got a sub par trainer and he never set me up for any classes or training. Got 3 guys talking at the same time, i felt trapped and signed to get out of the room and quit right away but they won't let me and taking money for months. they got a good scam going.
preventing customers to use towels inside the sauna room
two days ago I walked to the sauna room and and found a note at the door saying that it is forbidden to use towels inside the sauna room for health and safety reasons.
That followed a complaint made by an old lady that felt towel brought inside the sauna room are an hazard to human health, not safe.
I find it highly offensive and ridiculous
Ignorance since towels are used across the world in any pubblic sauna room
I wish somebody could help to take my complaint to a level where it is going to remove this nonsense action
Its not normal and we are in a European Educated technological country. Apparently this is in fact,
Its worse than an ortodox, conservative remote culture
incorrect information displayed on sauna door
Following a nonsense of a costumer complain. She reported the use of a towel by another costume (me) inside the sauna was not safe not helthy for other costumers.
Today when I went to use the sauna I was taken aback when I see a large note displayed outside the sauna door.
It reads like :" it is for bitten to bring and leave cloths and towels or food or drinks in tge sauna for health and safety reasons".
Signed
The Management
I find it ridiculously an action of bully and provocation unecessarily costumers .
By did so undermining the chance fir them to relax and enjoy big in a spa situation.
It is NOT for bitten to use towels in a sauna .
As regards to cloths and drink and food apart for water which is recon ended I never seen anyone eating, camping and or dressing undressing drying cloths inside a Sauna room.
I feel mostly offended and annoyed for such action taken by the management .
The management that never cares whether costumers use beauty products during steem room sessions and sauna sessions.
In fact the use of beauty products are for sure an hazard to human health longs and skin generally. Such product are absorbed through breathing g and through exposure on skin.
Please
I wish someone could provide apropriate management training and education to managers in charge of a spa Jym. Very important profession.

removed locker belongings without sending proper notification
I've been a member since 2015 with #[protected].
Recently my son who is a member at the same gym told me that the restrooms being renovated. Since I did not receive any notifications(e-mail, text or mail), I was not aware of the lockers are being removed as well.
In the locker, I had 1 pair of shoes made by New Balancefair shape, 1 pair of Italian brand shoes/almost new, 1 pair of orthotics manufactured by The Good Feet US company, electric massage neck pillow, 1 flip-flop, and shampoos. Among the missing items, the orthotics and shoes are most valuable items that I can't work out without it. I was told that the gym management tried to notify all the members, but I didn't receive any note otherwise I would've collected my stuff immediately. I'm beyond upset that all my stuff was collected and handled improperly. They should have marked the number of the locker on the collected items and not hand them out until owners can be verified for the reasonable amount of time. I'm so disappointed!

fraudulent charges
Crunch Fitness formerly World Gym in Hamburg, NY has fraudulently charged my bank account via my debit card. I had a old membership with World Gym dating back in 2015 which was prepaid. World Gym had a practice of fraudulently charging accounts as what happened to me. Now Crunch Fitness is doing the same thing however they're taking old World Gym accounts and stating they are negative, obtaining members/former members bank account numbers, credit and debit card accounts and charging them. I say get a hold of the Attorney General of your state along with the FTC and file complaints ASAP.
crunch pt richmond hill ny
I am a member of Crunch and i also signed up for there training which was a 2 month commitment. i asked my trainer Daniel if i would automatically be charged a third month because i can't afford a third month he told me no that i would have to authorize a third month charge. Taking is word for it he did not even give me a copy of my contract. i was then charged a third month and of course Daniel told me then i needed to fill out a form. However i finally got a copy of my contract and it also states i can call and cancel my membership. So i texted Daniel and asked him to cancel my membership and he said he would and i won't be charged anymore. Now i am charged a forth month and when i call to get a refund or speak with someone hire up i get the run around. i think crunch only scams people which is sad because there are people who really can't afford i am a single mom with 3 kids.
the owner of the parkland, fl location
In may of 2017, this location hosted a plank contest. I will upload pictures so you can read the information. It was not until 8/21/17 until we found out who won. However they never posted it on their facebook page. Even though I had asked frequently about who won the contest I kept getting an answer from the owner, rick sangiovanni, of I don't know yet. We found out through a pt that asked me to ask a member. There were only 2 pics posted to the facebook page for this contest. The owner is now denying there was a contest and says that my picture was not even up and he didn't see it. Which in fact it was on thier page and was taken down by crunch. I have screenshots that prove he saw it and liked it. The prize for the most creative plank was one year free membership. No where in the post from crunch does it say how many people can be in it or any other rules but to be creative. What makes me upset is that he is saying that I didn't do what I was supposed to to be qualified to win. When I clearly have done what they asked to do. If someone from corporate could call me, I would appreciate it. My name is erica huber and may cell is [protected]. Because of how he ran this contest he will be losing more members. The last picture is the picture that won. My guess is he picked the picture with 3 members so that he doesn't have to pay for 7 members. If that's the case he need to say that in the original post. He has upset a bunch of his members by doing this.
bullying and insulting words
This is to inform your office about an incident regarding your manager (joel) at your establishment located on hole ave in riverside, ca. I personally felt bullied and was the victim of insults and discriminatory words. To add to my insult, the workers by the front desk laughed loudly in the presence of many members. Please take this situation very seriously and I would like management to take necessary disciplinary action. I will definitely terminate my membership effective immediately from this unethical and unprofessional company.
crunch take 534 dollars
My fiancé is a member to crunch fitness on hillsborough ave in tampa florida which I pay for. On 8/1/2017, crunch took 534 dollars out of my account on a unauthorized transaction for personal training. We told them that back in june we will contact and let them know if we will start the training back up. They agreeed, but still took money out of my account. When we confronted them they stated they would not give back the money they stole out of my account and was unauthorized. I am complaining because I believe this was unfair and should get that money back.
billing
Joined in january of 2017, and paid cash, both my partner and i. We both didn't want it taken out of my card, said they had to have card on file so they used mine and said it would not be charged. We used the gym in january and have not used it since yet 21.35 has been taken out of the account, for him and I since february and now it is july. Furthermore in march an additional 40 dollars was taken out for both of us. I tried explaining the situation to the manager at the anderson location but he just kept saying well we have to take out. Even when i'm not coming, no that's not what I wanted. So I just canceled membership, which took 20 plus minutes and hesitatation from the manager. I just wanted my money refunded, that's it. These charges were not authorized nor did we use the gym at all during this given period.
membership
Sacramento, ca. My membership with crunch was a ongoing automatic payment. I had my debit card stolen (which was under my crunch account) and my payments were not going through as a result. I was not using the gym at the time, so when they called to tell me that this was happening, I kindly asked them to cancel my account to which they obliged. 2 months ago, I receive a notice from collections telling me I have a due balance with crunch.in my attempts to piece together why this was the case, I called crunch and talked the manager, carissa, and asked her why this had occurred after having given verbal notice to cancel my account. I also didn't understand why I had never been billed by crunch itself prior to receiving a note from collections, seemed very unethical to me. Carissa told me to e-mail her my questions because she had to do investigate. One week later, no response. I called again and asked for a response, and she asked to e-mail her again, so I forwarded the original message. 2 weeks later, still no response. I emailed 5 days ago to let her know I would escalate the issue and have yet to hear back. I am in the process of applying to apartments and need my credit score to reflect my financial responsibility. Given that so much time had passed and could not afford to wait any longer to investigate this issue, I had no option other than to pay the due amount to collections. I am asking for crunch to refund my full amount of $113.00 for lack of responsibility to provide justification of owed amount.
pt scam
You need to teach a personal trainer to talk about the fact that there are automatic renewals. Not wait for the customer to find out that you charged there account for double payments in one day and then tried to draw out a one time payment on the day that the account was closed. I'm fed up with you personal trainers that can not use electronic systems correctly and cheat individuals but you will not get away and I do not need more than one employee viewing my account. I have rights and if you stole or made a mistake, well you should be the one to fix it and give me my money back.
cancelled membership
Hello, I had a membership with crunch that I canceled in november of 2016. I was reactivated in january of 2017. This was a mistake. My wife called to let them we did not want our gym membership reactivated. We spoke with the manager and have emails saying please cancel or memebership. We continued to be billed for the monthly membership as well as the annual fees. I went up in person and spoke with the manager he said we would get a refund. It is now july and we have not seen anything. Please let me know who I can talk to about this.
