Where to start. My husband and I went under contract on a David Weekly home back in May. We were already pre-qualified but went ahead with the prequal from David weekly. They DENIED us! we have 2 mortgage lenders who still cannot figure out why we were denied, and the only thing we can think of is that it's a VA loan and they must not have as much experience or care in the matter. We were extremely excited and had our realtor with us. We always felt like the sales representative only was nice to us once we were under contract. We went to the design meeting, stuck to budget and at the next meeting with our sales rep they dropped a bomb that we actually were not getting 30G toward design but instead, 30G off final numbers. Our realtor even stated that was not what was told on our initial meeting. Instead of being understanding the reaction was as if my husband, myself AND our realtor were idiots. IT delayed our house start date by 30+ days and we had to go back and forth on payments because it was much more then we were expecting to give based off the budget we allocated for ourselves. Instead of understanding we were met with pure rudeness and disgust. What made me even more angry was that my husband is a veteran, there is no need for that much down payment for a VA loan to begin with. MY husband served in the Army, 56 months in Iraq and is a 100% disabled vet. He rightfully earned the right to use this VA loan. It just felt extremely disrespectful. When we went to our preconstruction meeting, we were already upset at the treatment we received from the sales consultant and when we sat down, she had a "talk" with us, stating she wanted to clear the air. The entire conversation was just extremely uncomfortable and felt very condescending to us. We just sat there and shook our heads to get it over with. Once our house was started, we were met with continued push back any time we mentioned something was not right or we had a concern. Our General Contractor never returned emails or phone calls, we got more and more frustrated with our sales consultant to a point where our realtor had to be the middleman. We are unsure if a water leak was fixed in the master bathroom because no communication on that has ever been relayed. Just showed up one day and cabinets were in. We have gone through 3 GC since starting which as well has not made this process any easier. Our sales associate has a bad reputation in the neighborhood which has made the trust process that much harder. One street over from our build another customer just got out of their contract on the same floor plan for the same reasons we are frustrated about. They have the same sales associate and general contractor. They had continued problems, push back, frustration, problems not getting fixed, and condescending tone. Another home of the same model a few streets on the other side is having foundation issues which is causing the closing date to be delayed. Around Thanksgiving our general contractor was not returning phone calls or emails to concerns that we had, the sales consultant would send emails acting clueless and saying things like " oh I want to know if there are issues" she has known about ALL the issues. Nothing is new. ITs just to save face for an email and it's not genuine at this point when up until recently she was nothing but rude to us. Then come to find out the general contractor was replaced. Do not know what happened but had to take more time off of work again to go to our home to meet with the sales consultant and new General contractor. Is David weekly going to pay me back for all the hours missed of work that was not needed because of poor sales? Now when our sales associate calls, I do not feel comfortable even answering, we do not feel like the home is ours anymore. We feel so disconnected and so disrespected by this whole entire process that has been anything but what we were hoping in building our forever home. At this point, all we want is our money back and to move on with our lives. This has been an extremely stressful and frustrating 6 months. We do not want to close on a house that we question the energy and build that went into it. All the while being disrespected as humans.
Desired outcome: To get full deposit back and walk away from contract

to add to our previous post, I forgot to mention that the construction workers were urinating in our shower (prior to tile and drainage being in) to the point where the entire master bedroom, bathroom and closet smelled of ammonia. They were also urinating in the attic which also has a strong ammonia smell. We informed David Weekly of the disgusting mess because they failed to take care of it to begin with. DO you think they took care of it right away, NOPE. took us asking about it more than one for it to be cleaned. Also, one of the construction workers dumped puppies in the dumpster in front of our under-construction home. Luckily the neighbors across the street were checking on their home and heard the puppies crying and saved them. There were 3 newborn puppies dumped in David Weeklys dumpster like trash! It really just adds to all the other issues we have.
