David Weekley Homes - Bait and switch

Negatives- too many to list and not enough time. The building process was a breeze, but, there was much to come in the year following the build. We have had issue after issue with our home to the point where I regret my decision using this builder daily. They have used bait and switch tactics from day 1 with telling me I could use certain color schemes, we...

Where to start. My husband and I went under contract on a David Weekly home back in May. We were already pre-qualified but went ahead with the prequal from David weekly. They DENIED us! we have 2 mortgage lenders who still cannot figure out why we were denied, and the only thing we can think of is that it's a VA loan and they must not have as much...

I bought a house from David Weekley homes that is a total disaster. This is a home model that I later discovered sells for $400 to $525, 000 in the local area but they sold for $814,000 here - however, the home is built with terrible materials and workmanship, nowhere near what one would expect in a home over $800,000. Weekley has never followed up to...

David Weekley Homes Internet scam

I called your internet number to obtain the website to apply for a job. I was told to go to "workforweekley.com" to apply.

Unfortunately, there is a website called, "workforweekly.com" that closely resembles your website and it is installing malware on people's computers. I have reported them already but wanted to make your company aware of this, as it has caused me great harm and an infection to my computer has occurred.

The reason for my call was to obtain employment so I need my computer for job searches and don't have funds to throw away on computer repair.

Please be aware of this and instruct your employees to be clear when giving the website information to potential employees who call asking because many will be unaware of the danger involved if they accidentally misspell Weekley.

Furthermore, since Weekley is an unusual spelling, it's a very easy mistake to make.

I did report this again to the person who gave me the website information so she would be informed of this but I want to exercise due diligence in the event she does not take this seriously.

I am taking the steps necessary to become whole in this matter and am not completely out of the woods until I can get this malware off of my machine. It is devastating and makes me feel vulnerable since I don't know the damage that has taken place or that will take place.

Fortunately for me, the damage may have been mitigated but for unsuspecting people who are not computer saavy, I fear they will fall victim and prey to these attackers!

I appreciate any feedback and assurance that your company will exercise due diligence in ensuring that your employees are aware of this and properly trained to circumvent any further harm to those calling your business for information. Although I realize it was not her fault that I misspelled Weekley, it would have helped to receive a warning before I attempted to access that website.

Thank you so much for your time and attention to this very important matter.

Sincerely,

Lavonna Gardner

David Weekley Homes GE 48" Monogram refrigerator..

The GE Monogram 48" fridge. The icemaker is inaccessible for a short person like me. I was never shown the actual fridge. And would not have chosen this model. We close on the house this week and just did a walk through and discovered this issue. There is a GE Monogram 48 in with external ice dispenser. More expensive, but I would choose that. The specifications are the same.

Desired outcome: Exchange 1 new model for another. Same dimensions etc.

David Weekley Homes Service

Earlier we got very good service from Denice Glowenke, from Forney,Tx, David Weekly. But later we had move to Davidweekly WolfRanch Austin.

We have signed a house at David Weekly, WolfRanch. The Sales Agent here Mark Lee is very rude to us while we discuss on anything. It happened multiple times. We don't want to talk to this guy for rest our house construction meetings.

Can you assign a different sales agent for our rest of the status meetings and the Point of contact.

We don't want to move ahead with the same person. Please do needful.

Desired outcome: Requesting Change in Point of Contact

David Weekley Homes Kitchen cabinets

Kitchen cabinets are poor quality with a subpar installation and need to be replaced. This has been an issue since day one of move in. The warranty people have have had over a year to resolve the problem and have nothing but excuses. If I would known how bad the installation job is and the poor quality of the cabinets I would have just done the base line cabinets. We have now lost a year warranty on the cabinets because crappy warranty service. I would like an outside company manufacture and replace my cabinets and David weekly absorb the cost since your warranty people say there are no parts. If this is the case I am assuming the houses being built come with no cabinets.

Desired outcome: Have an outside company replace the cabinets.

David Weekley Homes Laminate flooring

We moved into our David Weekley build about a month ago. During the design process, we selected the included flooring for the first floor (Shaw Laminate) and pulled it throughout. Prior to even moving in, you could tell the floors were what appeared to be just dirty. I figured that once we moved in, cleaned them, they would actually look like a new product. I was very wrong. The floors look as if they were used, I'm not sure if the installers just destroyed them while putting them in, of the cardboard they put on to "protect" the flooring scratched them all up, or what, but they are in awful condition. The corners are peeling everywhere, we moved into the house and there are dings, the floor is popping up in two places at least, and no matter what you do, the floor will NOT clean. It truly looks like someone lived here for years and never once tried to clean it. So disappointed with what they charge you for the basic "included" floors and to provide such a horrible product.

Desired outcome: I would like the floors replaced. Even willing to pay for an upgrade, but the install should be included since the product was through David Weekley.

David Weekley Homes Front Porch Columns built incorrectly causing rot.

Front porch is brick and has 4 columns. 4 porch columns are rotted due to poor craftmanship, and not constructing it properly. The columns were built first and then the brick porch was laid around the columns. This created a "moto or pool" where the structural beams sit. No weep holes or other proper ventilation was put in place for moisture to escape. These beams would just sit in water with no way to dry out. This is a builders mistake and there is no way for me to catch such a mistake because its all hidden under trim. This house was built in 1998 and I am the original owner. I wouldn't even bother contacting DW if it weren't for the fact that they built it wrong in the first place. Its a craftmanship error, and I believe they should fix it. I am positive I can't be the only one with this issue in my neighborhood. Pearland TX Silverlake.

David Weekley Homes Options

Homes in AZ
I am so glad I found this site before purchasing a David weekly home. This company charges for options that should be included in a home priced between $600M-700M. The homes come with only a 36"cabinets in the kitchen. Other builders offer standard 42" and an up charge to extend to ceiling height of a 9'-10' ceilings. The charge to increase from 36"to 42" is $600- not a lot of money, however, this only begins the other options "charges". Do you want Soft Close drawers? There is an additional price for this too. How about a gas stove top? David Weekly home's standard cook tops are electric, another charge for gas. We are all not chefs, we know cooking with gas is always preferred. This is only an example of a few option, it continues on so many items.

David Weekley Homes Might look nice, but not useable

Bought a Weekley home in Dec 2019. We did not have it built, so cannot comment on that side. When we had our walkthrough they definitely went out of their way to tell us how great they were at resolving issues. They build our walk-in master shower with no door and a 1ft opening at the top. It has been unusable since we moved in, because the design sucks cold air in while pushing the warm air at the top. It is absolutely freezing. When we informed them of the issue, they said we were the only
people in the neighborhood that have had this problem and everyone has the same shower and no complaints. After speaking with our neighbors, we found out multiple people have had this problem. We also found that our vanity mirrors were glued to the wall (screws were just there for decoration, toilet paper holders were installed incorrectly, and you need to where layers in the house because of the temperature differences from room to room. These are only a few of the many issues we have experienced with our "high end" home. It's one thing to build subpar homes, but at least ‘fess up and fix it when you get caught.

Desired outcome: Make the shower useable

David Weekley Homes Home

We had a home built by David Weekly (DW) that we moved into 20 Nov 2019.
Our first week in the home the drains backed up. Shortly after the sink in the kitchen begin to leak. Forgot that the first time it rained after we closed, there was a water leak in the master bathroom. The fit and finish of the home is so bad. We had a heavy rain last week and water came pouring through the back door. We have electrical issues in the master and the master bedroom. If we plug in iron and space heater in room but on opposite sides at same time the breaker cuts off. The paint on the back of the house faded in about 6 months. The yard was sodded so bad that it is actually not safe to walk on it. You cannot mow the yard evenly because there are so many irregularities in the sod. Issue was addressed by someone coming out and putting little piles of dirt in certain places. The whole yard needs to be top dressed. Case light in hallway lasted for two uses and no longer works. And the kicker is our water bill has been over 210.00 dollars every month since we've been in the house. Our water bill was never over 80.00 and that was with a daughter in the house who no longer lives there.

Desired outcome: Buy the house back and refund all of the monies we expended. I have no confidence in this house lasting for any amount of time. We signed a contract for a home to be built to certain specifications and that was not done.

David weekley trains their builders and accounting people on how to underpay their contractors. They are experts at ripping off the people that actually build the houses. They have had many many liens on their homes because they don't pay the contractors. They have NO integrity. It's a multi million dollar company that refuses to pay the struggling contractors who work for them. They have courses you take after your hired that teach you how to avoid paying contractors.

David Weekley Homes Poor construction - second master bathroom, kitchen area wash basin / sink

We purchased home in June/July 2015. Found the drainage problem in Aug / Sept 2015. Informed Service Manager about the problem. he did repair but original construction of Second Master Bathroom was not proper because water was not drain out but stored in Bathroom Floor.

Letter from contractor who repaired
This letter is to state the damages caused by the water leak in the shower located on the 2nd floor. This leak was detected coming out of the supply line they used plastic/pex-piping & a small leak was escaping. We also found the drainage pipe (p-trap) loose. These were the problems that caused the shower back & floor to get damage with excessive water exposure. Full walk in shower had to be replaced as well as the bathroom entrance flooring. Subfloor decking on 2nd floor was replaced. We also replaced damage sheetrock in garage ceiling this is were excess water was dripping as well from shower water supply.
These damages were found in the property located 7859 Southfork Bend Irvin Tx, 75063

David Weekley Homes Manasota flooring / mohawk floors

We built a home with David Weekley and took possession of it at the beginning of 2017. We went with engineered hardwood flooring throughout the house which came at an upgraded cost. About two years in, we started noticing a gap open up along the boards across the great room. We pulled the rug back and moved the sofa and discovered that this gap ran clear across the great room, from the slider door to the front door. The gap had opened up to about an eighth of an inch and in some spots, even wider. At that time, we also noticed how much the floor had, not faded, but discolored. Then we noticed that on the board ends, they were starting to swell and bubble. Once this caught our attention we went into the front retreat and pulled back the rug, and the same thing was occurring. At that point and upon further investigation we realized that this was taking place all over the house. The boards are delaminating, swelling, bubbling and now for most of the floor all semblance of a wood graining is gone. The gapping and shrinking is horrendous. I reached out to the warrantee department at first. They never came out but instead referred me to Manasota Flooring. They sent a tech out who came and looked the floor over, did not say much and then he left. I heard nothing for about two months. I reached out to the warrantee department again. Nothing. I called Manasota directly, and spoke with a project manager who was very nice, and after trying to explain to her what is going on with the floor, she sent out a tech, who also was very nice and he came and looked at the floor. He went over to the gap that had opened up and he proceeded to pull up one of the boards and take some pictures. That was when we discovered that upon installation, they ran the floor seam right along the expansion joint. When the joint expanded, so did the floor. He replaced the board. I asked how was he going to fix it, he said "I don't know, I've never seen this". I then showed him the swelling and bubbling issues throughout the house and he stated that they only sent him out to look at what was causing the big gap. I called his project manager to let her know that he had been there, she confirmed and said that she was going to send the pictures to David Weekley. I heard nothing from nobody. This timing takes us up to the front door of Covid. This past July, I started the process up again. Manasota's stance is to fill the gaps with wood putty never revealing that to do this would invalidate any warranty coverage that the floor has. David Weekley's position is that the product is not defective. I have hired a flooring expert who came in and certified that the floor is defective as well as the installation. Both sides of the aisle are quiet. I have reached out to the head Project Manager here in Tampa. I have reached out to Warrantee and I have reached out to Manasota Flooring. We paid half a mill for this property. There is no excuse for this. I do not trust anything David Weekley or Manasota flooring and ultimately, we want the floor removed and replaced or we will accept compensation for a removal and replacement. We have already paid David Weekley for this floor.

David Weekley Homes New home build in 2015

We moved in to our new David home in September 2015. There were several fixable issues in the first six months. They included incomplete hurrican shutter install bolts, cracks in the garage floor slabs, dryer vent mesh not removed in construction causes my dryer to breakdown, loose tiles etc.

David Weekly fixed most of these visible issues within the first three months so when asked for a review we obliged positively. Customer Service was great for the first year after which it was a challange to get a call back even ones that were simple inquires. However we are now in year five of home ownership. We have poor yard drainage caused by construction elevation issues, roof leaks, rats in our attics due to unsealed exterior openings at roof joints and a/c hoses, two of three a/c units required major repair within two years of home purchase, rust on all exterior door handles and locks, windows installed upside down, slab cracks and more. By the way my wallet and its contents were stolen from my purse while I was visiting the construction site. The only people in the home with me were plumbing contract subs.

Needless to say we are no longer pleased with our home. We have spent thousands of dollars fixing issues that would not have been necessary had our home been built well.

We could not recommend David Weekly. Their product is expensive and inferior. BUYER BEWARE!
