I bought a house from Weekley Homes in May 2018. The house flooded the day after I moved in due to the builder stapling through a main water line. In November 2018, I was evacuated from my home due to a major gas leak that had existed since before I moved in. In Sept 2019, my laundry home flooded (my fault); however, the drain in the floor captured no water. The builder now tells me that I should have put a drain pan in and that drain was never mean to capture more than 5% of water. This is directly opposite of what they told when I inquired about the need to buy one. Never buy a home from David Weekly Homes. They do shoddy work.

David Weekley Homes woodside hollow drive

Buyer Beware! Woodside at West Clay. Do not buy, especially any quick move in "deal." They will tell you how great of a deal you are getting and then continue to remind you when things go wrong. We have lived in our home for under 5 months and are already to move. The warranty team is awful and the people above them are worse. We have drainage issues in our backyard and nobody is willing to take the responsibility for the mistake they made or even help fix the issue. The send slimy men out to justify the wrong doing and call it correct. They will talk in circles like trained robots until you have to ask them to leave your property. Then they will send you emails warning you to not make a negative review of the company, because you could make money on the "great deal" you received. Shady business practice. I wish somebody had warned me. This is your warning.

1) shorted carpet that had to be replaced
2) closet shelves not installed properly
3) multiple stones falling off the home
4) hose spouts leaking falling off the house and "repaired" with caulk that looks terrible and continues to be loose
5) a backyard that floods and will never grow grass (def do not buy in the winter)
6) broken oven for over a month
7) unfinished stone work making the house (over a half million dollar home) look like a modular home

David Weekley Homes standing water

I bought a brand new David Weekley home in Meridiana. I am rarely ever home. It is my 1st new home purchase. I was pleased with the house and service until one day I found out there is standing water. It is a common problem with the homes in Meridiana. I called them. They said it is not covered because it is muddy. Well no [censored]. If I am never home to see it how would I have seen it. That is obviously an issue. You would thing since they know it is a common problem in the area they would want to fix it but no.

David Weekley Homes david weekley home full of fumes

In November of 2017 I purchased my dream home from David Weekley in the Trinity Greens Area of West Dallas.

In April of 2018 my home became overwhelmed with an "odor" and working with David Weekley Warranty over the next 8 months, we assumed that the "odor" was a faulty HVAC Unit. David Weekley graciously replaced the HVAC Unit in December of 2018 and the "odor" went away.

In April of 2019, as the humidity and temperature increased in Dallas, the "odor" returned. As the "odor" became more pungent and knowing that the "odor" was not coming from the HVAC Unit, I decided to bring in two separate Licensed Air Quality Technician to see what the "odor" was. The results were alarming with severely high levels of formaldehyde and off-the-chart levels of VOCs. See results:

David Weekley Homes roof leaks and ac evaporator coil with copper/aluminum

My david weekley home is among the first 3-story town houses the company built on Nicholson inside the loop in 2011/2012. The company and crew made minor adjustments on windows and inner doors that I appreciated greatly. However, after I moved in…
1. Between 2012 to 2017, there were six incidents of leaks from 3rd floor roof into attic. David weekley crew inspected twice and did not find why. I finally found out where the leak was by staying in the attic during a heavy storm. It is at the ridge intersection. When rain drops are big, they deform the shingles and flow between them. I paid $500 to seal it and it has been fine for 2 years now.
2. Improper gutter installation on dormer roof with water pouring onto shingles leading to deck damage. In 2019, I paid $1000 to change the gutter, repair the roof and water damage inside.
3. Lennox A/C used CH3343B2f evaporator coil with copper/aluminum tubes, which is part of a class lawsuit. Coil rusting led to Freon loss and major repair in 2019 (replaced by CH3542B2f coil), which has a cost estimate of $3500.

David Weekley Homes construction site

I am very upset at the lack of professional clean up that is being done on my busy but quiet street! While driving home last night not only was I startled, but then very upset to learn that I had run over a huge piece of metal in the middle of the road, in front of the houses that are being built! While the houses are beautiful I am always disgusted by the display of trash and such in the street. And now running over this piece of metal is the last straw for me. Now I find myself needed an entire new tire due to no fault of my own, just simply driving to my house! Below is a picture of what was in the street. I'm hoping something will be done about it.

David Weekley Homes poor quality home builder, bad warranty services

I closed a David Weekley home in June 15 2018 and until now David Weekley home still haven't completed my warranty requests . I have too many problems with the house . The framing structure of the house was terrible . Many rafters were not nailed together or down to purlin causing the wood to twist . Many rafters were wider than 24 inch spacing and some even to 48'' spacing . I wonder if the framing is correct behind the wall ? I don't know how they can pass inspection ? I feel I've been cheated and I feel unsafe living in this house . The electric bill was so high more than any other house around us by $100. . The doors look very bad with 2-3 different colors (colors don't match), the door's corner are rough like they just come out of the saw . Paint job is terrible . The dishwasher has been broken for 3 months because its was installed improperly. They finally replaced it after repeated requests The electrical outlet for light and ceiling fan was not mounted to frame and only to sheetrock and was separating from ceiling almost falling off ceiling . Here are other issue I have ( brick, front door, light, plumbing, air conditioning vent missing and installed in the wrong location, roof shingle uneven, tile ...)
And the most awful is someone urinated in my attic's insulation . Very frustrating . I've contacted the warranty manager, project manager, and corporate about all these issues and have been promised many times that all will be taken care of but as of today, 5 months after closing, many of my concerns and issues have not been resolved all and no attempts by David Weekley to resolve these concerns.

David Weekley Homes bad quality

Beware Beware Beware! (Parkside west) specifically Prompton Bend is very loud at night.

After you spend $450k+ on a home, you will realize that David weekly uses crap for windows and it will sound like you are sleeping on the street. We complained and our neighbor complained since we are the only ones that moved to that side of the street, and what makes it worse is they responded by letting us know they will find us a replacement but we have to pay for it.

Generally we heard good things about David Weekley but honestly the quality of workmanship is terrible. We moved in 2 months now we had to redo the banisters, had to have an inspector check the upstairs carpet as we had 20 dips and will have to re-float the subfloors to fix it. A glass door was installed with a crack. The bathroom vanity countertop started sinking and had to have them fix it and recaulk it. The kitchen back splash had defective parts that needed to be changed.The list goes on... The warranty department is so slow and condescending, they randomly showed up at your home without an appointment or a call.

David Weekley Homes home floors

The floor nightmare! We put hardwoods in our home with out any reservations, we had had them in our last home without any issues. But these were not engineered hardwoods. They began to warp 6 months after we moved in; after a year David Weekley came in and replaced 2/3 of the main floor and said this should fix it. 3 months later the spit where the boards were warping was back; but now much worse. All along we would told the problem was humidity(not that this is in our purchase agreement or maintenance recommendations). Well we've run a dehumidifier 24 hours for 4 months with no success. Now David Weekley says it my problem and they will do nothing to fix the shoddy workmanship; I guess a quarter of a million doesn't get you what it used to. They should be embarrassed I guess if want a speed bump in your house call David Weekley

Jim, if you are still out there, I would like to know what your final resolution was with David Weekley. We are having a floor nightmare with them as well. I have built three homes. This has been the worst experience of my life! My joy for the home has gone. I have an engineered hardwood. It is swelling and gapping and delaminating throughout the house. These gaps are 1/8 of and inch or more throughout the house. I have reached out, but I am getting the silent treatment. I have hired experts and they have certified the floor defective and bad installation. I am sensing that this will go to court, that is why I want to know what your outcome was. Thank you.
PS: The house is only three years old!

David Weekley Homes inaccurate marketing and zoning

On March 9th of 2017 I first went to see the homes in the Villages at Flat Fork. I met with a sales consultant. On March 11th of 2017 I brought my husband with me to learn more about the community. On April 5th, 2017 our consultant, my husband and I sat down and looked at the floorplans, pricing and available lots. In that meeting I inquired about having a play set or basketball goal and our consultant said she would find out. On April 7th I received an email stating that it would be fine as long as it was approved by the board. We decided to buy an existing spec home and brought our children (4 months, 2, 4, and 5 at the time) to sign the purchase agreement on April 10th. Our realtor Linda McClure was present. We later closed on May 12, 2017.

On February 22 of 2018 I reached out to the HOA to apply for the swing set. On March 29th I was denied, and the board cited ordinance 061917. I called the city zoning office they referred to in the denial. A government official indicated that the zoning ordinance was correct, and forwarded me the text of the restrictions on March 30th. I contacted the local David Weekly office on March 30th but was told everyone was on vacation. I also emailed my sales consultant, stopped by the model in my neighborhood, and called the home warranty line. I called the home office in Texas on April 6th and was forwarded to the local office, where again, no one was available. Shortly there after I received a call from Brian Robinson, the community manager. He seemed to dispute that the empty nester zoning was correct. He told me the neighborhood used to be zoned for empty nesters, but it was his understanding that the zoning had been changed. He ended the call saying that he would work to get us that swing set.

I spoke with Brian Robinson again on April 17, 2018. He said that unfortunately there was nothing he could do about the zoning issue. When I insisted that the situation was unacceptable, he told me that his legal team and regional director, Michael Luedke, were aware of the situation and that there was no further solution to be found. Brian also said that he does not see the neighborhood as being for empty nesters and that is not how they sell these homes. I wrote down the information for his manager and we ended the conversation.

Today, my husband received a call from Brian Robinson. During that discussion Brian repeatedly said he does not see the villages as an empty nester community and they never advertise it as such. Brian again stated that he and Michael Luedke were in agreement on this issue. I believe there is another young family in the neighborhood, and since these discussions I have seen the sales consultants showing other young families the spec homes across the street. I just want them to provide potential buyers with accurate information.

David Weekley Homes unpleasant home buying experience

If there is a negative STAR rating available, I will give them -5*.
Beware… Beware…. Beware! If you want to deal with a builder who employs unethical, unfair business practices, here you go…David Weekley… Particularly, if you are from out of state or out of country, forget it…you will be discriminated…
I am from Philadelphia (north-east part of the country). My wife and I started searching for our retirement home in Charlotte area in December, 2016. In January, we narrowed down to three builders, one of them was David Weekley in Skybrook, Huntersville, NC. The two others were MI homes across the street and Pulte homes in Fort Mills, SC. The homesite –lot 135, at David Weekley, we were interested in, was not released at that time. Since January, 2017, my wife and I made 4 trips to Charlotte. Every time we stopped by at David Weekley and talked to the sales agent Mandy Noonan with whom we were dealing since December that we are interested in lot 135 and let us know as soon as it is released so that we can sign the contract. During these visits, we also decided on model/floor plan and received quote. Since January, I was in constant touch with the same sales agent, Mandy by e-mails and text messages (at least 30 – I can share if someone is interested) which indicated our interest in lot #135 only and she promised to keep me informed of any development.
In February, we got a call from MI homes that we must finalize the contract if we want to build home in their community. During same period, sales agent from Pulte homes informed of release of new homesites with all information if we were interested to sign the contract. We checked with Mandy, agent of DW on Lot 135 release situation. In one of my early e-mail conversation I indicated to Mandy that she should let her partner know that we have shown interest in Lot #135. She told that it is likely that it will be released in March and I was first on her list for this lot. I was never told that I am on the waiting list. We relied on her words and let go MI Homes as well as Pulte home deals.
On April 9th, we got text from Mandy that lot #135 will be released in a couple of weeks. I planned my trip and informed her that I will be in Charlotte during April 22 thru 25 to finalize and if the lot is released before then, let me know. I drove to Charlotte (540 mile from Philadelphia) on April 21st. On April 21st at 9:27 pm she confirmed that lot #135 is available to sell and meet next day on April 22nd at 10:00am. On April 22nd at 8:09am she texted me that lot #135 is SOLD!. Wow, they sold during night when the sales office was closed and kept me in dark throughout the entire process since December, 2016. Had they (DW staff) been open, honest and transparent, we would have signed the contract with other builder whose treatment was much professional, honest and of course much better price for the same or better quality. Now, they (DW) wanted to sell me a different lot, of course with more than 150% increase in price of all options that we had shown interest in. What a greed! They have multiple pricing policy. Depending upon who you are and how deeply you are interested, they will quote the price. I got four different quotes for the same options.
When I called the owner David Weekly to complain, his assistant Paddy told that Mr. Weekley does not talk to clients directly and the Charlotte area manager Mark Gibbs will call to address my concern. Mark did not call. However, Darren Price, Manager in Training (according to their website) for Skybrook project called me on April 28th and assured me that after talking to Mandy he will call me back on May 2nd at 11:15am with what he can do to ease my situation. I am still waiting for Mr. Price’s phone call! Shame on their unfair and deceptive trade practices! Completely opposite from what Mr. Weekley has pledged in David Weekley’s sales brochure!
As a follow up, I sent two e-mails to David Weekley. However, no response from him. What can you expect from this builder? Beware…..Beware…….Beware!

David Weekley Homes our entire home - building/construction

Below is an email I just sent (March 2016) to the David Weekley Tampa regional office.

Good morning,

I'm contacting you about our overall complete dissatisfaction with the building of our house. I'm sure that we are not the first to contact you about the faulty construction; I know with certainty that several of our neighbors have contacted you over the years.

Our house is five years old. We have cracked tiles, our son's room has flooded twice from rain coming through the window, sheet rock lifting in various rooms, especially around the windows, floor tiles lifting all around the house, leaking around two toilets in two bathrooms, and now an entire section of our roof shingles came right up off our roof and fell onto the ground. When my husband went up to try to determine what happened, he saw that most of the roof tiles are not even nailed down and we are close to losing half our roof.

We have already had the exterior of our house repainted. Our FIVE YEAR OLD house had to be repainted. When the painters came out, they told us that the paint that was originally used was extremely poor quality and likely watered down to cover more square footage. There were sections of our house that were not even completely covered with paint. Not to our surprise, they told us that they had already repainted several houses in our neighborhood that were the same age or less than our house.

We have resealed several windows on our FIVE YEAR OLD house.

We are now in the middle of talking with the roofing contractor who did our roof and the shingle provider. Everyone is trying to determine where things went wrong and, in the interim, we have water coming into our FIVE YEAR OLD roof and are anticipating a leak any moment. We are facing a weekend of rain with basically a hole in our roof and hoping that the contractor and distributer come to an agreement and help us fix it. If we have to pay a dime to accomplish this, I really think that I may completely lose it.

We have refrained from contacting you after the first few years because, frankly, when we did, your company was less than helpful and we have heard from other homeowners that you basically did nothing and quoted the warranty guidelines as your protection for not being responsible for a poorly built house. We work very hard to pay for our mortgage and work hard to maintain our home but it is a losing battle when it was built incredibly poorly.

We patched and repainted the stucco outside, flush our pipes, ensure proper drainage, do everything we are supposed to do, all the while knowing (we are both Floridians) that this is completely ridiculous. We own another home, built in the 70's, that we have never had to do any of this maintenance to and that home is older than we are. Our parents didn't have to go out every three months and patch, seal and repaint their exterior walls. It's asanine and yet we continue to do it because we want a safe home for our child and ourselves.

The roof coming off in large pieces is the last straw for us. We are not people who complain, we take responsibility for what is ours, and we are never looking for a free ride. We both work hard, work evenings and weekends, travel out of time for work, and believe in contributing to our community. In short, we are not people who "cry wolf, " we are not "squeaky wheels, " and we don't ask for more than we deserve.

We understand that you will not do anything to address any of these concerns. What we want you to understand is that we will tell any single person who will listen what an incredibly poor job you did on the building and overseeing of the building of our home. We will use every available means of social media, spread the word to our family and friends who we will ask to spread the word to their families and friends, and make sure our neighbors do the same. We do not want any other individual, couple or family to pay their hard-earned dollars for a home that does not keep them safe and is falling down around them. So, we will tell anyone we meet, anywhere we meet them, in this community or other communities, this region or other regions, this state or other states, that David Weekley is a terrible homebuilder and they would be better off with, likely, any other company.

We doubt this email properly conveys our disappoint or disgust but please be assured that we will work aggressively to let others know the extent to which we feel both these things to your company.

David Weekley Homes lot of rework, delay and no responsibility

I purchased a DW home in College Station Texas and we signed the agreement iin June 2015 and we were told that the building would be completed by Nov 2015. By July 2015 we already had one of the assigned builder quit DW and we got a new builder who was not from the local town.

We are group of 8 buyers and we were assigned one builder who was to inspect the construction every day but did not. The sales people were terrible in terms of updating our requirements on time. They never updated our requirements on time and by the time the installation for the requirement was completed with the old requirement and hence lot of rework to remove and re-install for the uprages.

This builder again was fired and we had one more builder assigned to complete the remaining work.

There was absolutely no quality if th workman ship. For example, the frame alignment, switch plates, tiling and flooring were all out of sync and does not measure correctly.

Overall I would not recommend DW home and I will not buy a DW home in future.

I'm in the process of building a new home by David Weekly in the Veridians in North Arlington, Texas. I had issues with the framers they can't read blue prints. They framed 3 windows incorrectly and had to come back and reframe. The first storm several of my shingles blow off the roof. David Weekley Homes a company who doesn't care

I recently had a spec home built through David Weekley Homes in 2015 in Austin, Texas. There were many issues with the home, the build process, and the DW representatives we worked with. I will point out 3 major ones that had I known then what I know now I would have never gone with DW.

First of all, my home was behind on it's closing. No biggie right, this happens all the time. Their reasoning for this was because of rain in the area. The funny thing was on the days when "no one could work on my home because of the rain" the only items left to complete were on the inside of the home. THE MAJOR ISSUE I HAD WITH THIS was that we had set a closing date, set a final walk through date, as well as sent in our move out date on our current home as well as hired movers and all of a sudden I get a call 2 weeks before my promised closing date stating that it would need to be pushed back 2 weeks. How on earth is a professional builder that far off? If you go with David Weekley homes expect the same.

Second, my landscaping (or lack there of). My home came with a front planter box with 8 plants furnished by DW. When we moved in 5 of the 8 plants were dead, 3 months after move in these still have not been replaced and I am still getting excuses as to when they will be. Furthermore our home has a communal courtyard that was constructed and landscaped by DW. We share with 11 other homes all built by DW. We were about the 7th home on our block to move in and there was nothing but bare dirt in the courtyard when we moved in. Once again, no biggie but when they decided to install the sod for the courtyard they did half one day, it rained the following day so they did not install the rest. 5 days later they came and installed the remainder. Now we have a courtyard that is half dead grass with weeds growing in it and half that is nice green grass. Irrigation system on this was promised and paid for by the home owners, 3 months later it is still not installed.

Third and final item that will never be revealed to you before and during construction; DW hires everything to be done through subcontractors, they employ 0 home builders. I know this is becoming common practice in the home construction industry and had I known DW was a builder who did this I would have never gone with them. There is no accountability when you ask DW why something is not done correctly, they point the finger at the subcontractor and YOU (not DW) have to schedule a time for the sub to come out and fix the issue. This process not only delayed my closing date but in my opinion caused me to purchase a home that is sub par in construction. We received no info on the sub contractors so I have no idea their quality. Also they continually park in front of my driveway when they are building the homes around mine.

David Weekley Homes builder issues

We purchased a David Weekley Home in January of 2014. We purchased based on the promises of the sales staff and marketing. I will outline a list of the problems I have encountered...but this is just a few of the items we encountered thus far. We were so upset we had an independent person do a home inspection so that we could be sure of the issues.

1. Windows not uniform and put in wrong side out.
2. No proper installation in attic
3. Screened in porch not screened in appropriately
4. Columns were not painted for months and until I complained a number of times.
5. Dishwasher did not work had to be replaced
6. Window casings uneven
7. Some walls are not straight
8. Vanities height of children
9. Molding not mitered correctly.
10. Roof issues needed to be repaired
11. Microwave caught fire
12. Fridge quit working after 6 months
13. No reimbursement for time by homeowner dealing with repairs and new appliances.
14. Floor is coming up in my kitchen
15. Problems with concrete

Mary Beth,

The installation company for GE, Kid Glove will call you an hour before they arrive to ensure you are home to accept the delivery. As for the requested reimbursements, below is our position to your request.

1. Reimbursement for appliance repairman on Sat 6/28 (Submitted and in process)

2. $75 a day meal per diem (Fri 6/27-Thurs 7/3). 5 x $75 = $525. We will process reimbursement, once we confirm new fridge is installed and working today.

3. Patio furniture cushions will be reimbursed, as requested. Not the furniture itself, as that is not what we originally agreed to. Provide a receipt for the cushions, actual damaged cushions, and we will reimburse.

4. We will reimburse you for the food lost. Once your new fridge is installed, restock it. Provide us with a receipt, so we have an accurate amount and documentation.

5. As for reimbursement on time and suffering, we do not offer reimbursements on this.

This is just a sampling of the errors. The warranty department seems useless. We finally got fed up and threatened legal action and at that point Michael Luedke, division President finally met with us. Some issues were addressed others still not fixed. In one conversation I was told by him that my expections were just "too high" Really? I have spent countless hours waiting on them to fix things...calling them, emailing...it is at the point where I cancel appointments and cannot enjoy my days. The mistakes they make go on and on. I have been told that I will only be reimbursed for cushions lost regarding my porch furniture if I show receipt. No reimbursement for time and stress. No apologies. Just empty promises and excuses. I caution anyone from building with them...others around me have had similar experiences. Two homes had to have their floors completely replaced. They will make false promises to you and when they get your money...look out!

David Weekley Homes house disaster

My home is has been a nightmare. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Every appliance has been defective. The management does not respond unless one threatens a lawsuit. My "screened in" porch wasn't screened in. I have had numerous issues with the building of the home My Floors are warping. Too much to list. I would not want anyone else to build with these hooligans.

David Weekley Homes breach of contract, theft, poor workmanship

Entered into a contract for the Queensland to be built on my property. Representatives, contractors failed to give me all items paid for, with a value of around $3600.00 . Within 3 months of moving into the house, the foundation in the garage, back porch, dining room all began to have cracks. Tile cracking. David weekly representative Denise said cracks are normal. Houston area president Tom Wadley said oh well looks bad, but no real damage to foundation since the foundation has cable system. In other words, hey thanks for the nearly $400, 000.00 purchase, but your cracks, misaligned walls, missing items, rust on windows, leaks, etc are of no real concern, happen all the time and no return of money. Many of the current items were brought to the attention of site supervisor for David weekley ( Gusty Graham), he did not care, his answer during the building process was, the warranty division will handle things. It seems when you purchase a home from David Weekley, you should check the county specs for electrical too, because they don't have a standard for all homes to be one gauge. They leave it up to the electrical contractor, in this case IES, electric who puts in the minimum for that area. So, when David Weekley says they build a nice looking home, it's not the full truth! So if you want a headache, ugly looking house, be out lots of money, then buy a David Weekley BOYL home.

You want my insight. They offer that amount to everyone. Your NOT special with them!
Don't purchase a David Weekly, and do some more homework and check with the bbb of Houston and other online sights. There are several complaints with the BOYL.

It sounds like you did not have a great experience. We are narrowing down between David Weekly and Avanthi for BOYL and I was wondering if you were able to negotiate with David Weekly on design center credit? They offered us $20K on a $550K house without much discussion, but I am going to push for more. Any insight you have would be appreciated.

David Weekley Homes foundation issues

We had our house built in 2005 and it was finished in 2006. My family and I went on vacation in 2008, upon returning we noticed that the tiles where cracked. My husband contacted David weekly and they basically said to bad we are not fixing it. I contacted our insurance company and I just got the report back. In the report it states the foundation was not done properly. Now I have pull up all the tile in my home and spend more money to replace it. I also sent an email to other David Weekly home owners and they have the same issues with the tile cracking. Please do not have your house built with them look for someone that really cares about customer service and fixing your issues. I do have pictures but could not get them to upload.
